My favorite type of book: an unreliable narrator with unreliable characters. I was drawn in from the very first page. Meg's sister died while in rehab and her death is blamed on suicide. However Meg doesn't believe it and decides to check herself into the rehab facility to investigate her sister's death. The story alternates between Meg's point of view and Cara, one of the rehab workers. The author seamlessly alternates between the two with often times 2 separate plots playing out. It was easy to keep track of and there was no repetition between the two POVs ,which I appreciate. The author addresses some difficult issues with addiction and rehab while weaving a masterful thriller full of suspense and twists and turns. Many of the twists were unpredictable.

Don't skip out on reading the author's note. It will make the book that much more special. I applaud the author for sharing her story and congrats on writing your first book sober!

I don't want to say too much about the plot for risking of spoiling, but I will say: "Whoa." There are so many interesting elements to the writing, from the author's descriptions of rehab to Meg's poker strategy to the facility itself. As far as twists go, there are a LOT. I suspected a few, but overall, the story keeps you guessing. My only complaint is that the very end dragged out a bit. but that's a minor thing.

What a crazy ride. When Meg learns that her estranged sister has died in rehab, she is sure that there has been an error. Her very selfish and famous sister would never take her own life. Meg decides to take a (somewhat forced) hiatus from her undercover job with casinos to go into the rehab and find out more. The fact that Meg has her own issues with substances makes it both easier and harder. As an undercover agent of sorts she begins to learn more about the very exclusive and expensive clinic and the cutting edge work they are doing. The problem is that they seem to be unregulated and experimenting on their own clientele. Will Meg find out what happened to Haley? Will she survive the Clinic? If you like a gothic mystery, a twisted medical prison story or just love a complicated heroine, The Clinic is for you! #Sourcebooks #Landmark #TheCLinic #CateQuinn

Wow! This book had me on my toes throughout the entire thing! I read the whole book in less than 12 hours. It was that good!

WOOOOOOW!!

This book was INCREDIBLE. First of all, if you are a short chapter girly, this book is for you! I kept saying one more, which in turn led me down a 4 hour marathon that certainly did not disappoint.

This is one of the books I could see in my head like a movie. It was wild. I will say I am typically NOT a fan of unreliable characters, but I promise, give this one a chance!

Meg is an undercover poker expert who is kick ass at busting sharks. She learns her sister, Haley Banks, a famous singer, in rehab has passed away. The circumstances are suspicious. While Haley is in fact an addict, it’s not heroine, but a suspected murder. Meg decides to go undercover and check into the rehab to find out more about her sister’s murder. While at The Clinic, Meg is having a difficult time as an addict herself. One of her roommates has killed her sister and she needs to get sober to get to the bottom of it. Through her detox, she is learning things about her past, herself, and her sister. Will she uncover the mystery?

I did not predict the twist in this one. Like my mouth actually dropped open and I had to reread the page like 4 times! I am super looking forward to this publication to grab a physical copy for my own library.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to Sourcebooks publishing and the author for this ARC digital copy!

This book had me guessing at every turn. I loved the double POV of Cara and Meg weaving this thriller through their very different points of view. The twist at the end was great and a total surprise. The setting for a creepy rehab in this book was excellent and added to the background thriller vibes, you could picture the remote rehab in your mind and how the people would feel being strapped there.

This thrilling mystery kept me hooked right from the start. I loved the alternating POVs, and while I understand why we couldn't have more, I would have loved to have seen things from the eyes of other characters.
This is one of those stories where you think you know what is going on, and it teases you into a smug sense of satisfaction, only to trash your ego completely because you were wrong.
I would love to see this on film.

Absolute best book I've read recently!
I really enjoyed this mystery/ thriller. I stayed up late to finish it, which, for me, is saying a lot. We hear the story from the perspective of two characters: Meg and Cara. I enjoyed both of their storylines, but I tend to think Meg was a bit more compelling. I thought that the twists were great and really kept me engaged and guessing. I also found the story very unique. I don't want to spoil, but I've never heard of Dr. Lutz's treatment before, and I thought it was very interesting.
Thanks to Net Galley for the book to review.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this novel.

Even though Meg and her sister Haley have had their ups and downs, when Meg hears that Haley died at the rehab clinic where she was trying to get clean and it was ruled a suicide, Meg knows something is amiss. Her sister would never commit suicide and heroin wasn’t a drug she used.

Meg has struggled with anger and violence her whole life, but she found a job that suits her well. She gambles and, in doing so, takes down bad guys. It’s a job where she can drink a lot and, since she had a run in with some gangsters and busted up her shoulder, oxycodone. But she’s not an alcoholic and she’s taking *prescription* drugs—that she just happens to get her hands on in a way that isn’t exactly on the up and up.

Even though she’s sure she doesn’t have a substance abuse problem like her sister, she finagles her way into the same program and gets her boss to pay for the extremely expensive luxury rehab of the stars by telling him it’s a way to take out more bad guys.

The author does a great job with accuracy of people battling substance abuse—because she herself has been to rehab. Because all of the patients are murder suspects, the novel doesn’t dwell on what great people they are when they’re not drinking or using, but on the aspects that might make them good suspects.

I enjoyed this mystery. The two narrators—Meg and the clinic director Cara—are not exactly the most likeable characters, but I thought the twists and turns were fun and the ending well done.

NetGalley provided an advance copy of this novel, which RELEASES JANUARY 23, 2024.

I received and ARC of the Clinic and ended up really enjoying the book! It started out a bit slow for me but really got going and had an ending I didn't see coming. The storyline was unique and refreshing from the repeat books that are out there. I got into the mystery and couldn't figure out who the killer was until it was revealed. The author used real life experience for this book.

A locked room mystery set in a celebrity rehab. Riveting, captivating, engaging. Oh, I loved this. Gobbled it up from start to finish.

Thank you NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Landmark for a complimentary copy of this novel! Meg and Haley are sisters and both experienced trauma and difficulties growing up. Now, Haley is a well-known actress and Meg helps catch cheaters in casinos. The problem is, Meg relies on oxy too much. Meg’s sister, Haley, also had addictions, so she has checked herself into a secluded, high-end rehab facility in the Northwest US. Suddenly, news reports of Haley’s suicide are popping up, but Meg isn’t convinced Haley died of suicide, especially from the states cause of heroin injection. It’s just not something Haley would do.

So Meg checks into the same rehab facility to discover the truth. But the truth isn’t so simple Meg discovers. The owner behind The Clinic is a shady, guru-like character. The rest of the staff and fellow patients all seem to also have secrets as well. As Meg struggles with her own demons and addictions, she fights to find out the truth of Haley’s death and who had motive to kill her.

This novel had so much going on. Definitely numerous surprises along the way and the truth will blow your mind!!! Definitely recommend!!!
