This was a super fun book that gives a look behind the scenes of your favorite TV shows. If you've ever wondered what layout your favorite show's homes or apartments have, this book imagines them and brings them to life. I have to laugh because no apartment building in the world would have these odd, triangular room set-ups because they are impossible in a typical building, but I loved it anyway.
Behind the Screens was a really cool book, laying out the interiors of a number of famous TV shows. I loved the trivia sprinkled in as well. Really cool gift for any TV Buff
This fun book features beautifully drawn renditions of the interior sets of some truly iconic tv shows. It's a nice trip down memory lane.
Super fun to read and wonderful illustrations to enjoy. It’s like a photo album. What nostalgia! I spent many hours watching many of these shows and at different times in my life. They become part of your family. I can’t imagine the time spent researching to get the illustrations right. There are additional wonderful details, like when each series ran and the studios they were recorded at, also some interesting trivia. I can't wait to get the print copy of this book when it comes out. Hopefully it will be printed in a large format to do the illustrations justice.
I really enjoyed this look at behind the scenes of classic TV shows. I grew up watching these and I think this is great for younger generations to learn more about these shows.
Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.

Wow! Such a wonderful trip through our favorite TV shows. The illustrations are beautiful and masterfully rendered. The writing is wonderful as well and full of interesting tidbits for TV fans. This is a fantastic concept and wonderfully executed.
The nostalgia and joy of reading this book! Not only is it the floor plan of each place I’ve spent time in over my life it includes key props that make me want to rewatch every favorite show I’ve ever had.
This is a pretty cool book about many different popular TV shows like Gilmore Girls, Schitt’s Creek, New Girl, Friends, How I Met Your Mother and more! It talks about the different props that were used on set and if they were used prior on a mother show. It was very interesting to find out how the sets in the studio differ from how they are portrayed in the shows.
Behind the screen, you can explore the small things you never say on the tv screen of your favorite cartoon families or sitcom I also like the trivia we get a part of the book from homes from friends to the golden girl you can spend hours pointing stuff out.
I received this book as an ARC from Netgalley. All opinions are my own
This was a lovely little nostalgic trip back to some of my favorite tv shows. I’ve always been a big tv watcher and loved television and this book was a great addition to the coffee table kind of books out there. It has floor plans and interior design sets for some of the most popular tv shows over the years including Friends, Golden Girls, Sherlock and Gilmore girls which is one of my favorites. It even showed a town map for that one. I loved the little extras about props from the shows and overall this was a fun time.
If you love sitcoms and architecture or just sitcoms or just architecture, I guarantee you'll enjoy this book. The perfect coffee table read.
As a sitcom-watching Sims 4 builder, this book is genius and so interesting. Besides the absolutely fantastic sketches of various iconic television sets like the Friends apartments and the Dunder Mifflin Office, this book is also full of fun facts and brief synopses of each show. The artist provides floor plans, town maps, and exteriors of the sets as the artist imagines them after viewing hours of sitcoms.
Some of my favorite featured shows include The Good Place, Little House on the Prairie, New Girl, Gilmore girls, Schitt's Creek, and Mister Roger's Neighborhood.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of this work in exchange for this honest review.
This is a really neat book! It shows what the floor plans for various classic shows would look like. The drawings are wonderful and creative. They are colorful and detailed. There are also trivia facts about each show featured in this book which was really interesting. My favorites are the Little House On The Prairie, The Simpsons, The Brady Bunch, Sesame Street, and Mr Rogers' Neighborhood. I would recommend this! Special Thank You Inaki Aliste Lizarralde, Chronicle Books and NetGalley for allowing me to read a complimentary copy prior to publication in exchange for an honest review.
This book was absolutely brilliant! When I first flipped through it I couldn’t believe how many culture-influencing shows were represented in its pages. It would make a great gift for anyone who is a fan of television and wants to revisit some of the memorable sets that became “characters” of their own—just about every prominent television show from the past seventy years is represented: I Love Lucy, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Simpsons, Friends, Schitt’s Creek, The Office, Broadchurch, etc.
As an English teacher who teaches drama, I can’t also help but think of how I could use this as a tool with students—getting them to think about how set design can help facilitate interaction and conflict and develop character and atmosphere. This book will stay on my coffee table for some time to come!
Thank you for the EArc NetGalley and Chronicle Books. What a trip down memory lane. This book takes you from the iconic home of Lucy Ricardo to the living quarters of The Simpsons and the beloved quarters of The Office. Beautifully illustrated and narrated with fun little asides. I adore this book and it would be an amazing gift for anyone who loves pop culture. Well done!
