This is a cute book. As a yoga instructor, I think this will be a helpful book to introduce kids to yoga. The cues are fun and lighthearted. I like that adaptations are provided for each pose, making the book accessible to all.

Thanks to NetGalley for the chance to preview this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is an excellent resource for children to begin learning yoga in a fun and accessible way. It provides a series of options in terms of stances which are based on various animals.

Children will not only have the pleasure of guessing which animal they are attempting to emulate, but also to try out the relevant pose. And efforts have been made to ensure that children were special needs can be included by varying the positions to accommodate them.

Such a fun way to introduce kids to yoga! Is it follow drawings with fun rhyming text, they will also learn about the animal whose pose they are doing. I love how this shows regular yoga moves for children, supported moves, and seated moves. It's very inclusive for any age, skill level, ability, or disability. Kids will love this!

We used to use yoga during special needs class, letting one of the kids in the class lead. This book is a great little resource for more ideas, because it shows several animal poses, which the kids would think is fun, and because it shows how to modify the poses for people in wheelchairs or with balance issues. Apparently the author works professionally helping in this kind of physical therapy.

Wow! It also has poses for those who need a little help and even the wheelchair bound! Simply presented, the poses are related to animals and look like beginnings. I'm glad that there are to be more in series.
The instructions are delightfully illustrated by Leslie Taylor.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age, great for gifting to anyone, but especially to a school or your public library!
I requested and received a temporary electronic copy on Adobe Digital Editions from Rosen Publishing Group/Windmill Books via NetGalley. Thank you!

So many good animal yoga poses! I love the images on how the child should pose and the second image of how a child in a wheelchair can also do the yoga pose.

A really lovely introduction to yoga for children. The concept of guessing the animal is fun and engaging. I especially liked the accessible options being presented throughout. Some of the illustrations take some working out - perhaps a little too simplistic, but along with the text, they're easy enough to follow.

Fun with Yoga for One and All!

Physical Therapist, Michele Hurley has created a cute useful book to introduce kids to Yoga. Each pose has adaptations making them accessible to anyone no matter their physical limitations. She has chosen several animal poses that are first introduced with a guess the animal rhyme that describes both the animal and the pose. The rhyme is accompanied by a stick figure person showing the pose. The next page names the pose, providing the answer to the riddle. It provides descriptions and drawings for two adaptations: one for kids who need the assistance of a helper or the stability of a chair for balance, and another adaptation for seated or wheelchair bound individuals. The next page rewards the child with a rhyme and a cute watercolor illustration of the animal.

At first, I was taken aback by the simplistic stick figures. But they are actually quite useful for demonstrating the poses. The contrast between Leslie Taylor’s simple figures the animal paintings is quite nice. With all the adaptations, any child can do these exercises. And so can their parents or grandparents. These poses have been tested and Grandma approved. I based this review on a temporary e-book from the publisher through Netgalley. I highly recommend this book for families that wish to try yoga, and for school libraries as well.

A delightful picture book written as meant to be read by a caregiver to a young child just learning yoga, telling them how to do different postures and then guess which animal it is. Even better, the book has several alternate postures for those with various disabilities so everyone can play. A wonderful introduction to the world of yoga and a great way for a parent and child to bond.

I reviewed this book with my 9 year old daughter and it was a definite hit. She loved having me read the instructions for the yoga move, then seeing the picture to see if she did the pose correctly. Then she’d try to figure out what animal she was and we’d read that part together. This is a great concept for a children’s book to be active and introduce them to yoga. It obviously works well for a parent-child reading, but could also be done solo by the child. It would be a fantastic addition for elementary teachers as well. I’d say that preschool through fourth grade would be the target range to best enjoy this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Rosen Publishing Group for the e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Rosen Publishing Group/Windmill Books for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is a children's nonfiction book. This is a fun introduction to a variety of yoga poses. It is a short, cute book. There are colorful graphics and I liked the rhyming. 4 stars

This book shares various positions, all for able bodied/ with chair assistance/ wheelchair bound. This is a great book for all. There are basic poses that are all related to animals that kids would know.
