HOUGHTON MIFFLIN HARCOURT AND NETGALLEY ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Boston, MA, April 26, 2010—Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and NetGalley announce an official partnership to deliver galleys, promotional materials, and other content digitally. NetGalley allows publishers to reduce the costs associated with traditional galley mailings as well as providing access to NetGalley’s growing community of reviewers, booksellers, bloggers, librarians, media professionals, and educators. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s participation in NetGalley begins immediately.

“Using NetGalley allows us to streamline our distribution process, cut costs, and increase the reach of our marketing and publicity campaigns,” says Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s Sanj Kharbanda, Vice President, Digital Market Strategy.

NetGalley allows Houghton Mifflin Harcourt to offer galleys—including full-color, illustrated titles—and digital press kits (including book trailers, audio and video files, press materials, images, etc) all in a central location. Those with approved access will be able to download secure galley files to read on their computers or devices such as the Kindle, nook, and Sony Reader. There is no charge for readers to register or use the site.

The books featured at launch are among Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Trade & Reference division’s key spring titles and include:
