The first poem is fantastic, and probably my favorite. Dani De Luca explores the depths of society, self, and relationships in this brief collection. She touches on grief and violence in an incredibly articulate way.
I especially appreciate the experimental aspects of this, the subtle variations in style from poem to poem. Some weren’t for me, but the emotion drowned out any of my personal preferences for style.
Heartbreaking and beautiful, this deserves a read.
I don't read much poetry, but the title caught my attention. I enjoyed this book. I especially liked the last poem "After Another Death, My Son Asks About Mine & Where to Find Me."
Thank you fpr allowing me to read your book.

NEW BOOK RELEASE ALERT!!!
What a beautiful piece of art! And what an amazing debut!
From loss, love, pain, birth and so so much love, Dani DeLuca took me traveling through so many emotions, such raw sentiments that may or may not have caused me to tear up a little. I have no words for how this book made me feel.
I feel honoured to have had the experience of reading this before it came out, and I do recommend this extraordinary poetry to all to read, feel and enjoy.
Signing off,

I am not one to actively seek out or read poetry, but I wanted to give this short book of poetry a try given the description on topics of grief and loss. I found each poem beautiful and honest. The central theme following the path of womanhood and motherhood: the beauty of young children growing up contrasting with the sadness of them growing up so quickly, the loss of a sense of self in the role of mother, the fear and worry of gun violence in schools the US, the heavy expectations placed on mothers and women, and the sadness and grief that comes with endings. This short collection of poems is a concise but emotion filled expression of motherhood today. I will be revisiting and re-reading it multiple times. Highly recommend. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced copy read.
Poignant, meaningful poetry. I rarely read poetry, but every now and then a title or theme speaks to me, as it was with this collection.
My favorite poem in this collection about grief, motherhood, and womanhood is Freshmen, but most in the second half really spoke to me and I will be re-reading this short little book multiple times.
The title of this poetry book is beautiful and is what initially drew me in to read it but the first poem had me hooked.
"The Noise of Falling" really stuck with me as it is so sad to see how humanity now favours being thin instead of being healthy, mentally and physically. My favourite quote "We commit to Killing ourselves slowly. Not the bullet but the celery" is hard hitting and sets the tone for the rest of the collection.
It covers subjects such as gun violence, loss and mother hood. Her writing is poignant and reflects feelings of anguish showing the pain this author feels raising her child in such a corrupt and dangerous world.
This book definitely deserves 4 stars!
I would like to thank Netgalley and Querencia Press for allowing me to read this arc.
A solid and moving collection of verse from Dani De Luca, tapping into the hardships of this world we are living in. Pieces that moved me , The Noise of Falling, First Mourning, Poem Beginning with a Line from Smith, and the title cut, Of Lost Things.
Thank you to Dani De Luca, Querencia Press, and Netgally for the opportunity to read.
Dani De Luca's poetry collection "Of Lost Things" delves into powerful themes such as motherhood and grief, presenting compelling stories that resonate with readers. Despite its brevity, the collection is a recommended read for those seeking a deeper exploration of heavy topics.
Deep poems. As a man, I had to read this slow. The exploration of the beginning and the ending of human lives, and everything which falls in the unforeseen paths. This is for poetry lovers.
I just reviewed Of Lost Things by Dani De Luca. #OfLostThings #NetGalley
I liked it. It's really well written. This author Dani De Luca is fantastic and made every detail in this book amazing.
This short but provocative poetry book explores life and death and everything in between. Do not be tricked by it’s length, even though it has but 30 pages, it is a complex read and really demands thought.
Excellent, evocative volume. Short, but requires multiple reads to fully understand each of these poems, most dark with mourning or horror, intensely observant, yet knowing and reclaiming as well.
Some poems were very beautiful and some felt like simple would have been better. Would have enjoyed more simplicity.
I read the synopsis, but still wasn't expecting a poetry book. Yet, I am glad for it - that surprises exist in this opaque world.
There's a range of poetics in this novel, with different tones and voices. one thread rung especially true to me. The dark & the abstract call me home.
my favorites of the collection:
- The Ocean Knows
- In the story she tells
- Freshmen
- Grief Haibun
- After Another Death, My Son Asks About Mine & Where To Find Me
The imagery in this collection of poetry is amazing and so heartbreaking. This piece focuses on grief, motherhood, and womanhood and how the three of those are interwoven together. I really enjoyed this collection; I just wish it were longer.
Grief rearranges. / If you don't yet know it, friend, / hand to heart, you will.
In this short but profound poems collection, Dani De Luca explores the beginning and end of human lives, and everything in between. It also touches topics like motherhood, racism, and femicide. I usually don't read poetry, but it was a pleasant surprise.
Of Lost Things is a short but poignant collection of short stories that's introspective about life, death, rebirth, and everything in-between. Take some time out to look inward while reading this collection. You won't want to miss it.
So am not usually one to read poetry but the cover was absolutely beautiful. The first poem hit hard and was relatable in more ways than i could explain. I really cant say I connected the same way with the rest of the poems. If am being honest I didnt really understand what was trying to be said in some of the poems and i was left feeling like these were beyond my mental capacity to understand. Over all I enjoyed the few poems that i was able to understand and connect to.
These were my favorites:
The Noise of Falling,
Twilight Falls Faster Now
Small Roads Of Lost Things
After Another Death, My Son Asks About Mine, & Where To Find Me.
This review is my own opinions and thoughts thank you netgalley for providing this collection of poems for free to review.
I have to admit that some poems did go a bit over my head, but overall it was a really solid collection with few stand outs for me. I'll be on the lookout for this author's future releases for sure!
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
these poems were so tragically beautiful and sad and made me think a lot. goosebumps upon my skin and something gnawing in my mind. I do believe you should have read every page at least once in your life, since alot of them speak to the soul.
It also feels especially intimate when there are things described you struggle to put into words yourself.
By the end of it — you feel heard.
