Nicole has been called to a murder scene at Lighthouse Point. But there are quite a few strange clues. The Lost Beach Police department is pulling out all stops. Nicole’s adversary has been put in charge of the investigation. These two must work together to get this murder solved.

I have not read a book by this author in a while…WHY? I just don’t know how I have let her slip through the cracks.

This story had me absorbed in all the twists and turns. I enjoy a good guessing game and this one will definitely intrigue you till the end!

I love a good romantic suspense! Nicole and Emmet start out as rivals but then the attraction is too strong to ignore. And the way they have each others backs…

The narrator, Teri Clark Linden, did a great job with all the intensity and the characters.

Need a good mystery with great characters and fabulous twists…THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today.

I received this novel from this publisher for a honest review.

Listened in one day , could not put it down. Though this is part of a series it can easily be read as a standalone .Action packed, suspense, light romance , good read .

Laura Griffin is one of the most reliable authors when it comes to a solid mystery/thriller with underlying romantic tension. Although this is book 5 in the series, it can be read as a standalone (I just went back and looked, and I have only read book 4 in the series and I didn't feel lost at all in this one). Griffin does a great job of developing her characters, building the tension in her plot, executing satisfying twists, and throwing in some romance to boot. I have come to expect a win whenever I pick up one of her books!

This book is a tasty morsel, if you’re looking to stay up late, reading a well-paced mystery that’s a few steps up from your basic Cozy in both plot and spice.

I found the characters well-developed, the plot interesting, but not overly complicated, the setting intriguing, and the cover, stunning.

Honestly, my only complaint – and it’s a big one – was the lack of chemistry between the two main characters. Between their ridiculous lack of communication and the MMC’s manipulation to Keep The MFC Safe, I wasn’t really invested in them getting together.

As I quite enjoyed several other works by Laura Griffin, I’ll still seek out anything new.

Thanks to NetGalley, Berkley Publishing, and DreamScape Media for this ARC.

When the Lost Beach PD is called to the scene of a suspected suicide near the lighthouse, Detective Nicole Lawson notices some concerning discrepancies and the case is quickly ruled a suicide. With long friend- and crush- Emmet Davis leading the investigation, Nicole thinks things are under control.... until another body turns up and as the case heats up, so does their relationship.

I love this whole series. Lost Beach is a cool setting, the cast of characters is awesome, and the book strikes the perfect balance between police procedural and romance. I love how the secondary characters overlap in the books and the rich backstory it creates. Laura Griffin has built this series the way Amy Sherman Palladino built the Gilmore Girls and it's fantastic! You get to know the area and its inhabitants and you feel like you could be living in this town. 10/10, can't wait for more from this saga!

Liar’s Point is a great women’s sleuth book. I didn’t realize this is book 5, even though the plot could technically be a standalone book. This book makes me want to start these books at book one! If you’re a fan of the Mercy Kilpatrick series or Bree Taggert series, you will love this book and I’m pretty sure, I turn, the rest of the Texas Murder Files series. The only thing that wasn’t my favorite was the few spicy parts.

The narration of this book was done by Teri Clack Linden, who did a good job!! It was an enjoyable listen the entire time.

Teri Clark Linden, narrator and she does a very good job, although she portrays the characters and situations with a lot more angst than I would have liked. Nicole comes across as a prickly character. I enjoyed her as a supporting character in previous books, but I found her stubborn and difficult and even though Emmit was supportive she gave him a lot of crap. I don't like this approach to showing sexual tension between the characters.

Cassandra Miller is trying to keep a low profile as a yoga teacher in a little Texas beach town. While on her evening run, she comes across a car with the body of a friend dead inside.

Lost Beach, Texas police detective Nichole Lawson is sitting at a restaurant waiting for her date when she gets a call from the chief about a dead body. Figures. She and her date, Dave, have canceled more dates than they have actually had, a situation that Nicole is coming to realize is a pattern she wants no part of anymore.

Detective Emmet Davis is leading the investigation, which Nicole thinks should have gone to her. He is trying to rein in Nicole, but she is determined to follow her instinct that tells her the witness, Cassandra Miller, is hiding something. When another woman with ties to Cassandra dies, and Nicole is almost run down. Emmet is ready to believe her.

Another thing Emmet is having a tough time reigning in is his passion where Nichole is involved. Being on the phone with her as she is run down has awakened something inside him. Tomorrow isn't promised to any of them but having known her for over ten years, he is not sure how she feels about him.

Thank you NetGalley for this ALC! I’m always thrilled to get the audiobooks from this series!

Loved this story! The characters were great, the suspense kept me guessing. The romance was sweet. I was a little disappointed with the kissing while in another relationship, hence the dropped star.

Narrator did an excellent job, there were a few moments that the sentence cadence felt unnatural but otherwise, thoroughly enjoyed!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the free audiobook in exchange for my honest review. This is narrated by Teri Clark Linden who does a great job narrating this story. I recommend the audiobook if that is of interest.

Detective Nicole Lawson is frustrated by her job and love life as she’s called in for a dead body in what should have been date night. While the scene looks like suicide something feels off to Nicole and her instincts are on point.

I am new to this series but did not have any issues with this being book 5 so it works as a stand-alone. This is a solid mystery, police procedure story with a bit of romance thrown in. Overall, I liked the characters and the plot. The second half pacing was definitely faster which helped build suspense.

Overall a solid detective mystery!

Laura Griffin’s published many well-received suspense novels, but Liar’s Point was my first exposure, and I’m persuaded I’ll return for more. Detective Nicole Lawson grabbed my attention from the start: a hard-working and competent female detective in a male-dominated department, trying to do her job and having to suppress any normal, human emotional reactions so as to be taken seriously. Life in a quiet, off-season beach area should be relatively routine, but staffing shortages and an unusual spate of crime have left the department stressed, and now women are turning up dead under suspicious circumstances. Nicole and fellow officer Emmet have known each other all their lives, but suddenly they’re forced to work more closely than ever together, and Nicole has to fight to keep her feelings for him undercover. Good thing for both her and the story, he has feelings of his own. The suspense was good and kept my attention riveted; my only criticism came from not completely rooting for the main “victim” who moves the story along, and finding the ending a bit anti-climactic.

The fifth in a series about murders in a Texas resort town/island.

I have enjoyed the series so far and was happy to finally read Nicole and Emmet's story. Nicole is a skilled police officer who has the ability to put together clues and see the whole picture. And that was needed with this case where almost everyone involved was lying in one way or another. It made for a lot of interesting twists and turns.

We've been getting glimpses of Nicole & Emmet's chemistry throughout the series. They butt heads and sparks fly, so it was fun to finally see them get together.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this audiobook. All opinions are my own.

Liar's Point (Texas Murder Files #5) by Laura Griffin
Narrated by Teri Clark Linden
Publisher: Dreamscape Media
Genre: General Fiction (Adult), Mystery & Thrillers, Romance
Expected Publication Date: May 21, 2024

Liar's Point is the fifth book in the Texas Murder Files series by Laura Griffin. While loosely tied together, each book in the series can be enjoyed as a standalone mystery.
The narration by Teri Clark Linden was wonderful! She did a great job bringing the book to life.

I loved the mystery in this book! There was so much suspense and intrigue and I loved seeing how it all unraveled. I thought the story was fascinating and the characters interesting. I enjoyed getting glimpses into the lives of the characters from the previous books.

I think it’s cool that this is set in Texas, as it allows me to visit other parts of the state that I’ll never actually get to visit in person.

This is a quick read that I could not put down! I can’t wait to see what will happen next!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Listened to the audiobook. Excellent narrator. This is the first book by Laura Griffin that I read/listened to and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Interesting characters and story which moved along at a perfect pace.

I wish NetGalley was more clear when books are a series, because it does consistently happen that I’m excited for a book, listen to it, feel confused about it, and then upon going to review it, discover it’s like the fourth or fifth in the series. Knowing this, I probably wouldn’t request to read them or might do my homework first.

That’s the case for this book, which had an intriguing cop plot but due to being the fifth installment, is lacking a lot of necessary character exposition and development. With the benefit of those earlier books, it’s probably excellent. Without, it was still good but lacked investment in the story.

I listened to the audiobook for this one for about half before I decided I didn’t want to wait anymore and finished it using kindle. The narrator was doing a good job particularly with the chapters from Nicole’s perspective. This is book 5 of the Texas Murder files, but it works as a standalone. Overall I liked this story and found it to be a good mystery. I liked the mystery more than the romance, and not because I didn’t like the coupling, but my response to being frustrated about being treated different for being a woman in my career would not lead to kissing no matter the attraction. I thought the pacing of the relationship was weird in that way, but I liked the characters and felt they would be good together. Nicole is frustrated by her job and love life (or lack there of) as she’s called in for a dead body in what should have been date night. While the scene looks like suicide something feels off to Nicole which is a theme for the book. Her instincts are on point. The second half of the book was quite fast paced and I didn’t want to look away, but overall I think the book ran a little long and could have been edited down a bit.

This open-door romantic suspense, though part of the Texas Murder Files series, can be read as a stand alone. From the beginning by it is clear that people have secrets - and someone is a killer. The tension between the two detectives is great, though I did struggle with Nicole’s constant lone wolf attitude. Dual intertwined storylines, red herrings and a creepy vibe kept me listening. Excellent narration made it easy to tell which characters were speaking and added to the appeal of the story. Recommended.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a review audiobook. All opinions expressed are my own.

This was an exciting audiobook to listen to. I was totally invested in Nicole and the investigation. I love that she was the one that connected all the clues and I loved Emmet! He may have been a tad too protective since she is a cop, but I also loved that about him as well. I really enjoyed this audiobook!

Having read the other books in the series with mixed feelings I was interested in Nicole getting her own book. As a side character in the rest of the series she was more interesting than in her own book. Where she is stubborn and difficult for the sake of being difficult and Emmet isn’t much better. It was just an ok book, the mystery was kinda dumb and pointless where 2 different women were murdered for absolutely no reason at all. Probably won’t be reading any more of the author’s work this was kind of the deciding factor for me but that’s just me. I’m sure it works perfectly fine for some people.
