Melody Beattie is very well known for her work with codependency. I believe that she has become so popular because of her gentle approach. Many self-care/help books lose their efficacy in their ‘my way or the highway’ delivery. Beattie is always full of kindness, with the expectation that this is hard work, and forgiveness for expected difficulties her audience will have.

This new book is my favorite in her catalog, simply because of its bite-sized nurturing guidance. It’s essentially a year long project, broken into daily readings. For me, this works. I often find myself overwhelmed in following the advice of an entire chapter or book. This format is lovely. It truly allows you to focus on one message at a time, one day at a time.

The narrator, Liz Cole, has a soothing voice and is well suited for this content. I personally might prefer to see this content in a written format, yet could also imagine investing in both versions. I’d start my day reading the written version, and use the audio to reinforce it during the day.

I very much appreciate NetGalley and Dreamscape Media granting access to an advanced audio file in response to mu request.

I really enjoyed listening to The Language of Letting Go. I've been wanting to read it for some time now and after listening to the audio version I ordered the hardcover since I like to underline and highlight passages that I want to go back to and reflect on. I think it'll be great for both my husband and me to read through this together. Such good reminders on what we need to do to take care of ourselves!

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this audio book and review. All opinions are my own.

I really look forward to listening to my daily prompt since I began listening to this book. It is 1-2 mins. each day that I listen to in the morning, and it sets my day off well and gives me a focus for the day. You will also need to set aside 10-15 mins to journal about the prompts so that you can reflect on the prompt fully. The small bite sized pieces work for me so that I can digest slowly before the next prompt. The narrator’s voice is soothing and easy to listen to.

Thank you Net Galley, Melody Beattie and Dreamscape Audio for the opportunity to preview this audiobook. Opinions shared are my own.

I loved this audio version of daily meditations on codependency. It's great to have the option of listening - I process things differently hearing it rather than seeing it on the page. The narrator did a great job.

Thank you to #NetGalley and #DreamscapeMedia for a free copy of #TheLanguageOfLettingGo by Melody Beattie. All opinions are my own.

This is a book that you will want on your shelf. You will go back to it over and over again. This is one that I’ve had for over 30 years. Love Melody Beattie.
