*Received this book for an honest review* I'm new to Laura Lee and couldn't be more pleased! I loved Beautifully Broken. At the start, I was concerned I'd be left bored with the high school student / teacher tryst but soon fell in love with the story. Kat, female lead, tells the story from her perspective. She's battled with abuse, hurt, and an unstable (often non-existent) family. After hooking up with Gavin, enter new teacher in town, under false pretenses, the connection is immediate. Throughout the story you learn more of Kat's past and, though at times the intimate relationship is on hold after Gavin learns the truth of who Kat is, Gavin is by her side and supports Kat in ways she's never been supported. I love the strength that Kat builds as the story of their love moves forward.

I would definitely suggest this read to those looking for a hot love affair, a tender romance, and a swoon worthy male lead!

There are parts of this title which I will admit made me a bit uncomfortable. But, sometimes things that happen in life ARE bad and do leave people damaged. And, that is the underlying premise of this title.

Kat is ready to enter her senior year of high school when she meets Gavin. She is drawn to him in a way that scares her, but not enough to stop a one night stand on her 18th birthday. Only, they never exchange details of their lives so that Gavin has no way of knowing she just turned 18 and not 21. And neither of them are prepared for the first day of school when she is a student in his AP class.

Yet, there is a connection neither can deny....until life throws a curve ball. Through the year, Kat's relationship with Gavin (Mr. Cooper) ultimately allows her to heal from past hurts and survive new ones.

Note ~ there are plenty of sex scenes in the book. While many surround Kat and Gavin's relationship (which remains hidden for obvious reasons), there is a gang rape situation as well.

This book pulled me in and I need more!! This is the story of Gavin and Kat who meet at a bar on Katz birthday. There are so many obstacles in the way of them having a relationship. Kat has been dealt a hard hand when it comes to life and you find yourself rooting for her happiness and for something good to happen to her! You can't help but become invested in their relationship and hoping that Kat will get her happy ending. This is such a great book! READ THIS BOOK!!!

So not as taboo as I thought it was going to be and that really helped to make the book less trashy. I was literally crying during the moments when Kat opened up about her life experiences. Although I don't thin Gavin "saved" her. I think he just helped to show her that she deserved better than she was used to. He also showed her that she was an incredibly strong person. Kat could have been such an annoying character but the author did a great job of balancing her out. I loved her friendships and wished we got to see more of Bree. She should totally get her own book so we can find out how she gets her happy ending. Gavin, while older, was not disgustingly so and he didn't treat her like a child. He respected her and treated her like an equal. I loved that he was willing to risk his job to be with her. His life had not been easy either but he handled himself so maturely. The wrench that was thrown into their relationship totally pissed me off and seemed a little convoluted. However the resolution was satisfying and somewhat worth the pain. The storyline flowed so well and made me not want to put this book down. This was definitely one of the best new adult books that I've read in while. Thanks Netgalley for the ARC and for always introducing me to great new authors.

I have been in such a reading slump lately. This book took me out of it. This story ranges from YA which is young adult, to new adult, to contemporary romance. So ages 16 to late 20's. Its a story that will destroy all your emotions, meaning you will be smiling one minute to bawling your eyes out the next. Its such a roller coaster of emotions. The storyline/plot/characters are so well written. So thought out it was just a beautiful story to read. It took me a while to read it because I felt everything they did and I wanted to actually think about it while reading it.
This story does have a few points that if you dont think you should read it then don't. It has sex in it. It has sexual abuse, cursing, teacher/student relationships. It is just a mixture of abuse and forbidden love. It is just such an enjoyable read that will mess you up inside. I loved it SO SO much.

I read this as an ARC from Netgalley for an honest review.
