I tried. I honestly did: I gave WILDFIRE fifteen full chapters (over two-thirds of the way) and six days of my life and just could not get into me. I didn’t enjoy the characters-- the hero and heroine were one-dimensional and not emotionally engaging, the villain was so over-the-top one constantly needed to suspend his/her disbelief. The plot--was there even really one?--was plodding at best. The writing was mediocre and full of tell, not show (I’m not sure I can handle another inner monologue from the H/h). The only remotely salvageable thing were the sex scenes: scorching and angry, but lacking in any real emotional depth. Maybe the book somehow turns completely around and becomes the most amazing thing ever in the last third, but I’d already devoted enough time reading something I wasn’t enjoying. This was my first experience with any of Anne Stuart’s work; maybe I picked the wrong book or the wrong series, but WILDFIRE was not an enjoyable introduction to her work.

Never read a book by Anne Stuart. Will definitely look out for me.
Fast paced, romantic, suspenseful.
This was perfect, the pace was slow enough to build up, whilst quick enough to be a fun read.
The characters had the right amount of humour and self deprecation to make it interesting.
A must read for fans of romantic suspense.

So the gist of this third book in the Fire series is a sort of damsel in distress scenario. Only the damsel used to be a Committee member, and she screwed them over by falling in love with her mark. Naturally, this makes Malcolm, the newest Committee member sent to take care of the problem, a little suspicious of her. The catch? Sophie's husband also found out about her affiliations, and had her shot. Only the shot didn't kill her. It only paralyzed her. Now Sophie is wounded, pissed, and betrayed.

"Oh what tangled webs we weave..."

The entirety of the story takes place on a remote island, so there isn't a lot of movement. I think what kept me from loving this book as much as I tend to to love Stuart's other reads is how much internal dialogue there is, coupled with the slow moving plot. However, I loved Malcolm (as per usual) and Sophie was definitely a strong heroine once I let go of the stupidity of her initial decisions that got her into this mess. The sexual tension is pretty intense, because the build up is long, and because Stuart excels in that area. You're sitting there waiting for the top of your head to blow off in anticipation of some action.

If you're a lover of Anne Stuart, you can sink into the slower moving storyline. I love this world. I love these heroes. As always, I'm already anticipating her next thrilling installment...or, let's be real...her next delicious gamma hero.

I totally loved this book! I had only read Anne Stuart's historicals previously. Reading this sent me on an Anne Stuart contemporary reading binge - great for my brain but a little hard on the wallet!

Great book! I read this book in one day. Fast paced thriller with multi faceted characters and a reluctant love story. Archer MacDonald is a sadistic psychopath, preying on his paralyzed wife. Mal is the operative from the Committee tasked with taking him down, and bringing in a brilliant, egomaniac of a scientist with a weapon of bio terrorism. I enjoyed this thoroughly and can't wait to read more from this wonderful author.

Wildfire is so good - I never experienced a dull moment.

Sophie Jordan was stupid and gullible, and that has put her in a horrible situation for years. She is ready to seek revenge and her escape. .

Undercover agent Malcolm Gunnison works for the same organization that Sophie did, before she betrayed them. He goes in not knowing if she is complicit with her husband or if she needs to be rescued.

What I found a little hard to believe, based on the characterization of the villain, is that Sophie was even alive at this point. I also found it hard to believe that she falls into bed with Malcolm, or that her husband even cares.

I enjoyed the ending, despite its predictable nature.

I will have to seek out this author again.

I happened upon this book on Netgalley. Reading the synopsis, I figured I’d give it a try and see if it was a good read or not. I’m so glad I read this book because I discovered my love for suspense romance! It was suspenseful and thrilling, while still being sexy as hell.

The pages kept turning as I breezed through this. The story drawing me in from the first page. The whole will they-won’t they, kept me reading. I had to know how this story was going to pan out. Next thing I know it’s over and my heart swelled with joy and I heaved a deep sigh of content. I’ve never read anything by Anne Stuart before but I doubt this will be the last I read from her. This book was highly enjoyable and entertaining!

This was a steamy romance will just enough mystery. I really didn't care for Archer and I constantly wondered why Sophia didnt try to get away earlier. I did feels at times that the book was drawn out and some pages could've been skipped. Overall a god romantic/ mystery read.

Sorry but WILDFIRE kind of fizzled for me. Had a bit of trouble getting in and staying with the story. There was too much character inconsistency. Think one thing do another throughout. Characters were not all that likeable so it was hard to relate to any of them.

Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

Wildfire is a cracker of a thriller with a romantic/erotic side.
Sophie was a member of the 'Committee ' a secret organisation trying to bring down the bad guys, unfortunately she fell in love with a bad guy and married him which turned out to be disastrous for her. Two years later enter Malcolm another committee member who's mission is to bring down Sophie's husband and if she becomes collateral damage so be it.
So begins a game of cat and mouse, great dialogue, action packed but the developing relationship between Sophie and Malcolm raises this story to a great tale.
Thoroughly enjoyable, exciting and an extremely satisfying well written read.
Thank you to NetGalley and publisher for opportunity to review this book.

A brilliant read. Keeps the reader on edge anxious to know what would happen to Sophie and Malcom.

Anne Stuart has and will always be at the top of my to be read list. Why, you may ask? Well simply because she is just that good.! Her Ice series is my favorite and the Fire series is seriously climbing up there. I must confess before I started Wildfire, I realized that my Kindle Unlimited offered free reading of books 1 and 2. Now I am on a book low because I totally gorged myself on the full series and I crashed and burned from the greatness! Thank You!

Basically kept trapped after an accident by her husband, Sophia is making secret plans to leave her cruel, vindictive, crook husband, Archer.

Enter Malcolm, undercover agent from the same agency that Sophia was a member of and he is there to obtain a weapon and take down Archer.....but he doesn't bank on him and Sophia becoming allies.

There was a lot of internal dialogue that maybe was a bit too much but the sexy times were HOT! I did like this read but I did wonder how a CIA agent like Sophia could have fallen in love with Archer in the first place. But this is my first book by this author so maybe there is a book I have missed.

I love Anne Stuart, and this is an intense and very hot read. The bad guys are over the top bad and the good guys aren't really all that good, in the very best way! Great book I will be telling everyone about,
