Oh my goodness this is adorable. The color palette is rich yet simplistic, and the characters are very sweet. I was drawn to this series because I love narwhals. And why do I love narwhals? Because of Verne's 20,000 Leagues. So imagine my delight when Narwhal said his relative's name was Nautilus the Narwhal... *squee!* I also loved Narwhal's secret identity, Clark Parker Wayne. *nerdy giggle*

Over all, a very fun story about friendship, having fun, and helping others to achieve their goals. Plus, there's lots of mustaches and waffles, what could be better?

Super Narwhal and Jelly Jolt is the second easy reader about this pair of underwater friends by Ben Clanton. It is currently scheduled for release on May 2 2017. The first book was Narwhal: Unicorn of the Sea, and it was fantastic. They do not need to be read in order, but if you want to see more about Narwhal and Jelly you will want to check it out.

Happy-go-lucky Narwhal and no-nonsense Jelly find their inner superheroes in three new under-the-sea adventures. In the first story, Narwhal reveals his superhero alter-ego and enlists Jelly to help him figure out what his superpower is. Next, Narwhal uses his superpower to help a friend find his way back home. In the third story, Jelly is feeling blue and Narwhal comes to the rescue. The book showcases the joys of friendship and the power of believing in yourself and others through this irresistible duo.

Super Narwhal and Jelly Jolt is another great easy reader or fun graphic novel for young readers. Narwhal is a cheerful and optimistic narwhal, ready to be a superhero. But, he does not seem to have a super power. With the help of Jelly he explores what his power might be, and they have a grand adventure in the process. They deal with being blue, name calling, friendship, and self confidence. It is also great fun, with plenty of humor. I think this series might fill the whole left by the end of Elephant and Piggie.

An adorably awesome adventure! These characters are wonderful and funny. I love how they demonstrate great values while still being entertaining. My kids will love this book.

Super Narwhal is as charming as the first volume in the series! In the hands of a lesser creator his cheerful perkiness would be annoying, but Clanton has just the right touch that makes his characters truly charming. Readers won't be able to keep from smiling!

I may be slightly biased because I'm fond of narwhals, but this graphic novel about said narwhal and his jellyfish friend is soo cute! There are three mini stories, plus a few pages of interesting facts about sea creatures, that I can see appealing to anyone from ages 5 to 110. What turns out to be Narwhal's superpower? You have to read to find out!

Love this graphic novel and the story of friendship and discovery. Clanton knocks this one to outer space with his super story-telling powers. Can't wait to share this one with readers!

Having never read the first Narwhal and Jelly book I didn't know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised by the humor in this graphic novel. In this collection Narwhal decides to be a superhero even though, as Jelly points out, he has no actual super power. But he does still have a weakness for waffles. As Jelly becomes his sidekick, the underwater duo go through the chapters trying to help out their friends in the sea.

I say I was pleasantly surprised because the humor in this type of graphic novel, the ones for the young set, are very hit and miss for me. But a couple jokes here reminded me of moments of the classic WB Kids show Freakazoid! I think kids, and their parents, will enjoy this book with or without previous knowledge of the previous entry.

Another funny episode, complete with lots of puns, supportive friends, and simply wonderful illustrations. And silliness - so much silliness! A great book to read aloud to a group.

We were first introduced to Narwhal and Jelly in Narwhal: Unicorn of the Sea. This sequel lets us know what the two of them have been up to since then.
It's worth the wait.
First off, it's impossible to not connect to these characters. Narwhal and Jelly are flat out adorable. If you don't fall instantly in love with them, you probably have sociopathic tendencies.

In this book, Narwhal decides to be a superhero and Jelly decides to be his sidekick. It doesn't take long for them to figure out that becoming superheroes isn't easy. They have to come up with names, super outfits, secret identities and figure out what their superpowers will be. Once they determine the first three, Super Narwhal and Jelly Jolt discover that finding their superpowers is going to be a challenge. The usual things like invisibility and super strength don't work for them. It doesn't worry them though. They will probably figure out their superpowers after lunch.

Following that delightful introduction, we see Super Narwhal doing some pretty super things like helping a starfish return to the sky, and cheering up a sad feeling Jelly. The two friends even write their own comic book, Super Waffle and Strawberry Sidekick. Eventually Super Narwhal's superpower is revealed, but I'm not going to spoil the book for you by telling you the ending. What I will tell you is that it is a brilliant twist to the expected.

Clanton's illustrations work brilliantly with the text. Humor and sweetness combine to make his work appealing to a broad range of audiences. Older readers will enjoy reading this outloud to younger ones because of the emotions portrayed in characters faces, the spoof on serious superhero comics and the play on words, (especially in the Super Waffle and Strawberry Sidekick comic.)

The page spread revealing the true super powers of real ocean creatures is a delightful integration of fact with fiction.

I am infatuated with this book for all kinds of reasons. I welcome that these two individuals are primarily gender neutral, but what I appreciate most are the messages about not giving up, and supporting, helping and bringing out the best in others.

Fans of Elephant and Piggie books will appreciate Clanton's less is more format. In fact, Clanton's Narwhal and Jelly are the perfect stepping up point for young readers ready to move on from these simpler titles.

Narwhal and Jelly are back! This time, Narwhal wants to be a superhero, and appoints his good friend Jelly as his sidekick! Another chapter of this fun graphic novel has the well-meaning Narwhal attempting to shoot his friend the starfish into outer space to be among the real stars.

This sweet, humorous graphic novel is told in short chapters and, like the first, includes a brief section that shares fun facts about sea creatures. The illustrations are simple, yet engaging, and are done in pale blues and greys, with an occasional burst of yellow and other bright colors throughout the book. While much of the story is told using panels (with only .a few words per panel) there are some full page spreads throughout as well.

Readers who enjoy books like Mo Willem's Piggie and Elephant series will likely enjoy this similar tale of two unlikely, yet highly entertaining, friends!

First of all, my boys have the first Narwhal and Jelly book and we loved it. Compared to that, I would give this book a 3 out of 5. The pictures are as cute as ever and I liked how it still included an animal fact page and the waffle and strawberry comic but I was disappointed that Super Narwhal and Jelly Jolt didnt go on any super adventures. I would have liked to see them handle a villain in their own adorable way.

This is just an adorable little children's book. Everyone should have a friend like Super Narwhal who brings out the super in you!

Super Narwhal and Jelly Jolt is the second Narwhal book and is just as good as the first book! I just have a soft spot for these two who just perfectly fit together as friends. Narwhal and Jelly are the perfect ladder up from Elephant & Piggy, Bird & Squirrel, or other fun duos.

Although comprised of five short stories, the overlying theme is that Narwhal wants to be a superhero and must determine his super ability. Paired with his loyal jellyfish sidekick, this waffle-loving Narwhal saves a shooting star from being grounded, combats bullying, and learns that sometimes superpowers are more than just magical tricks. The kind-hearted duo’s adventures are creative and wholesome. A great early reader graphic novel for first to fourth graders, Super Narwhal and Jelly Jolt is the second in the series. Adorable and funny with upbeat blue, white, yellow, and gray-colored illustrations, the plot is laced with positive messages and witty, comical puns. This title is a super endearing and engaging read.

I would like to thank NetGalley and Tundra Books/Penguin Random House Canada for providing me with a free ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Once again Narwhal and Jelly teach us the true meaning of friendship while also being cute and awesome. So great for readers of all ages, even those who don't like graphics.

My 6 year old and I really enjoyed reading the adventures of Super Narwhal and Jelly Jolt. The stories are warm, kind, and funny, with great illustrations and fun storylines. We'd love to read more!!

I'm guessing these are meant to be read on the kindle app on your ipad or tablet, but I read them on my kindle. The last story didn't appear correctly on the kindle (the pictures and text were broken up and unreadable), but the rest of the stories showed up well.

This is my second Narwhal book and I love this! Narwhal and Jelly are adorable characters. Cute and clever dialog. I see this being popular with 1st through 3rd grade at my school. Illustrations are simple enough, Looking forward to more in this series.

Rating: 2.5 Stars

Narwhals are awesome creatures and I've been seeing more picture books with them featured lately. In this collection of short comics, the second in the Narwhal and Jelly series, Narwhal discovers his superpowers and uses them for good in various ways.

I loved the idea of a narwhal being a superhero. The first comic, when Narwhal discovers he is a superhero but not what his superpower is, was my favorite. The art is appropriately charming and goes well with the stories.

The next story was less than thrilling and a bit boring. The third, when he needed to cheer up a friend and in doing so discovered what his actual superpower was, was the most heartfelt of the book. Being someone that brings out the best in others is nothing to sneeze at!

The reason I'm giving this book only a 2.5 star rating is because, while the art was good and the first story was really fun, the rest of the book was rather lackluster. There was substance missing from the stories, in that there was the barest sketch of a story and not much fleshing out of it. Perhaps, in this sense, a comic book was the wrong medium and each story would have been better as it's own picture book?

This book will probably be most attractive to a younger audience to whom the lack of a fleshed out story won't matter, as it is visually appealing through out the work.
