'Can You Find My Robot's Arm?' by Chihiro Takeuchi tells the story of a robot looking for a replacement arm in lots of strange places.
One morning, robot wakes up missing an arm. Initially replacements around the house are suggested: a fork, a pencil, scissors. None of these things is a good replacement, so robot goes looking in some unusual places. The arm can't be found in a tree or an amusement park or inside a whalebone. What will robot do?
The story is pretty simple, but the illustrations are the real standout here. They are all silhouettes and have lots of details. The art is so much fun to look at.
I received a review copy of this ebook from Tundra Books, Penguin Random House Canada, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

Silly little picture book about the search for a robot's arm, being undertaken by another robot!
The robots were cute!

Can You Find My Robot's Arm? is a picturebook by Chihiro Takeuchi. It is currently scheduled for release on July 4 2017. This book is about a robot in search of his missing arm, in a paper-cut journey through home, garden, library, aquarium and the big city. He tries many objects that he finds in the world around him and discards them fairly quickly. Eventually he does settle on a replacement and discovers that it is not such a bad choice.
Can You Find My Robot's Arm? is a nice picturebook with well done paper-cut art work. The text is very simple, and the story allows for the reader to search each pages artwork for the robot's arm, and substitutions. I like the exploration of different possible arms, but was not blown away by the book. It was a good book, but not a great or stand out title. It is worth exploring for big robot fans, but I cannot picture it being requested for repeated reads.

in the downloaded copy that I received, the pictures were all chopped up. I don't think I,could give a fair review based on what I saw.

First, I have to say, I absolutely loved the blocky black-and-cream illustrations! Onto the text though: By the title, I was expecting a "search and find" kind of book and spent much too much time searching the first picture for the titular missing arm, to realize that the plot is about scouring the neighborhood for replacements, and the arm is nowhere to be found in the pictures (until the twist ending!) I still wish that the missing arm was visible in that first picture though, even if our robot friends didn't find it there. Overall, a delightful little story for the littlest robot lovers!

When the robot wakes in the morning, his arm is gone. He and his friend spend most of the day looking for it.
Tundra Books and Net Galley allowed me to read this book for review (thank you). It will be published July 4th.
The illustrations are what makes this story work. The robot tries different things for arms but none of them seem to work. The black and white illustrations are striking.
They search inside and outside the house, visit the park and a candy shop and more but they end up coming home and using an usual tool for an arm. The story will make your young smile and it's a treat for your eyes, too.

I liked the illustrations as they were unique black drawings but the story line held no interest. My library budget is quite limited and I don't think this would be a book kids would be anxious to read.

A very werid book that I wanted to like but did not. Maybe if the pictures had more colors?? The story did not have much depth and I thought it fall flat. I do not think it will keep kids attention! They don't even find the arm!!!

see message to publisher. Unable to see pictures but story was cute. Great to teach kids about what things "go together".

Robot's Arm is comical, but lacks any substance or plot line. A robot and friend go wandering around looking for an arm and try multiple replacements. The author has a great starting idea, but could use some further development in order to be a truly entertaining and engaging book.

The story did not hold my attention, so I know it would not hold the attention of the students that I would be sharing this with. Not only was the story so-so, the pictures were not appealing. This could be partly due to my download of the ARC but the ones that were distinguishable were not eye-catching.

(This review is based on a digital galley.) Can You Find My Robot's Arm by Chihiro Takeuchi is an endearing picture book slated for publication in July, 2017. The tale is simple - a robot has lost his arm and cannot find it anywhere. So, with the help of a smaller robot, it goes looking for it's lost appendage. They look high and low, inside and outside, and try many replacements for his arm. Ultimately the arm fails to reappear, at least to the robots, and our hero must decided on an appropriate replacement. Strong, simple sentences and beautiful paper-cut style illustrations take this picture book from average to well above. Children will love pouring over the detailed illustrations and finding all the little goodies hidden within (the adults will, too). Recommended for checkout from your local library or purchase.

Fabulous! The charmingly simplistic two tone illustrations will pull youngsters in, and the seeking story will fully entertain them. It ends on a silly note and I love that in picture books. I want this title for my bookshelf!

This story and idea is pretty cute. The reader helps the narrator search for the arm of his robot, but everything is shapes and shadows. They try a fork and other things, but what the robot really wants is his original arm. This kind of thing is right up my son's alley, and I enjoyed what I could tell of the story, but the pages on my galley were pieced together wrong. Since we couldn't see the pictures very clearly with the story, I hesitate to comment fully on the book. This is my review for now, and I'll redo it when the book is published this Summer.

When a robot loses his arm, the search is on. If the arm can't be found, what can be used as an arm instead? A broom? A leaf? Scissors?
Can You Find My Robot's Arm? is a simple story with a funny ending. The high contrast, minimalist illustrations drive an otherwise plain story forward.

Cute little story about a robot and his friend as they search for his arm or a suitable replacement. What really stands out with this book is the amazing black and cream illustrations. With their classic retro feel, the offer the perfect back ground puzzle to the story. Unique and eye catching.

I just didn't understand this book. It did not seem to have a point.

The book is visually stunning. The ending was a bit lacking for me. I wanted him to find his arm or at least find something that a good substitute that hadn't been tried out and dismissed earlier.

I loved the black and creme art scheme in this book. It's a simple story about a robot who - you guessed it- loses his arm. I think little kids will enjoy it.
