Growing up Cain’s father was a serial killer. Cain has a special ability that allows him to see things when he puts on the victim's blood. That part of the story was creepy and weirded me out. His whole life he has had to live with the stigma and tries to prove he isn't destined to become a killer. I would have liked to have more of a backstory when it came to Cain. We were told his upbringing was rough but we weren't really given too many details and that made it hard for me to connect with him in the story. Cain had a hard time seeing the goodness in him and with Mercy he was able to have some hope.

Mercy was spared by Cain’s father when she was younger. Fast forward several years later and they are reunited when he saves her and they feel an instant connection. This was also hard for me to connect to as well. I mean I get why they are together and it makes TOTAL sense once more details are revealed but I would have preferred a slower burn. I loved Mercy’s character because she was tough and selfless. Mercy was the balance and light that Cain needed. They both were able to heal each other in different ways.

I've never read anything by this author and the blurb caught my attention. This book wasn't quite like anything I've ever read before. It did hold my attention and despite the insta love it was a good read. I'm happy I took a chance on this book and I'm curious to see how the series continues.

...So, what did I like about it?
I haven’t read anything by Abbie Roads before but found her writing style very easy to read; her world and scene building is vivid and plunged me, feet first into a bloody, obsessive, emotional, serial killer thriller. (If you have a fear of blood, I’d suggest giving this book a wide berth.)
The pace of this tale is breathless but never rushed, it evolves over the pages and I loved the assumptions and dead ends that I found myself in; unexpected twists are so hard to find when you read extensively.
I was also impressed at how well Ms Roads crafted the horrific, gruesome bloody scenes and the balance between these and more romantic or humorous moments.
I liked that fact that the characters felt real to me (so much so that I cried and laughed with them), the plot kept me guessing and the suspense was so good I was on the edge of my seat throughout most of this book.

...So, ummm, was there anything I disliked about it?
Nope – hence the 5 star rating. Saving Mercy is the first in a new series and although I was left with a couple of questions it’s a fairly self contained story; no life or death cliff-hangers! Woohoo! (My regular followers know how much I hate those with a passion!)

So, basically what I’m saying is...
I really loved this book. It was intense and thrilling to read; I couldn’t put it down. Yes, I found some of the psychological brutality hard to read but that just added to the tension and thankfully, the romance between our two main characters, Cain and Mercy, balanced out the terror. Love, true love, can really conquer all.

I would recommend this book to you if you enjoy reading authors like Stephen King or watching fictional crime series like Sherlock. However, due to the mature nature of the story and the graphic violence, I feel that it is unsuitable for anyone under the age of eighteen – adults only!

I have also posted this clipped review on Goodreads and Amazon. My full review can be found on my blog, Flora's Musings...

Rating~ 4.25 stars

This was my first time reading Abbie Roads and I honestly can’t wait to read more from her. I don’t want to give away anything because trust me it’s better to go in blind then knowing all the spoilers, it made the book so much better for me!

Cain Killion is the son of a convicted serial killer, he has spent his life either suffering at the hands of his father or suffering to save others. Mercy Ledger‘s life has only gotten bad to worse in recent years, now someone’s out trying to kill her again.

Cain and Mercy have a past and they are both reluctant to face each other however with Mercy is danger Cain decides to finally face her. I really liked them both, Cain is badly damaged from his past, his face which resembles his father not to mention the work he does for the FBI makes him face his demons everyday. Mercy on the other hand is a survivor, she was strong and smart. Cain and Mercy have felt this connection to each other which only becomes stronger when they meet again and can’t help be attracted to each other and while falling in love seems easy, a happily ever after seems impossible for them.

There’s a creepy and sadistic killer out there that is somehow connected to not only Cain but Mercy as well and then there’s the man obsessed with Mercy. I found the whole who is it/done it aspect done pretty well, while it was kind of obvious (just because I read quite a few mystery/thrillers) but I still enjoyed the execution done here. The power/pnr aspect was also done quite well and how it was all tied together.

Quibbles: I do wish we would have gotten a bit more about their powers and how they worked in *that* world and if anyone else has them and how they actually came into being in more detail. I also wish it was longer so we could have seen more of Cain and Mercy’s background but other than that it’s a pretty solid read.

The book had this mystery/thriller, dark and slightly pnr vibe that I really enjoyed! I’m really looking forward to what Abbie Roads brings us next.

Final Verdict: A great start to a new series and I am definitely a fan of the writing and the characters .

Mercy and Cain Killion are connected. Connected by the deranged, sadistic Killer Killion, Cain's father and tormentor, and Mercy's worst nightmare. Twenty years ago, Mercy 's family was killed by Killion and she miraculously lived. But the horror isn't over for her yet.

Abbie Roads sets forth a well paced, well written thriller with Saving Mercy. Her characters are complex with a touch of the mystical as they confront evil in the form of a man. Mercy is a strong, determined survivor. She has an inner strength that manifests itself through an early warning system her mind created. Cain, having been raised by Killion to become a killer, instead turns his abilities to helping save instead of destroy. While broken inside, this character has a deep well resilience that keeps him pushing forward. The interaction between Cain and Mercy and Cain and Mac (Cain's adopted father) are touching and well executed. Ms. Roads wrote her leads excellently giving them toughness and vulnerabilities that made then relatable and real.

Ms. Roads deftly weaves a thrilling tale of cat and mouse as she adds suspects and clues along the way. The crimes scenes are graphic enough to tell the story without being overdone and gory. Ms. Roads adroitly leads the reader through the maze of suspense which leads to an exhilarating finale. A really great start to a series and a very well done debut from this author. I look forward to reader more from her.

I am going to preface this review with this fun tidbit. I had NO idea what I had gotten myself into when I agreed to read this book. I chose to read this book based off the cover and title. I have NEVER read anything by Abbie Roads before, nor did I read the synopsis. That being said, Abbie Roads will be on my one-click list going forward!

I loved this book like crazy! It got my heart beating and even made me check the locks on the doors a few extra times every night! The characters are fantastic and I have high hopes for books two!

Saving Mercy is the first book in the Fatal Truth series By Abbie Roads. It is listed as a Paranormal Romantic Suspense. I do want to address that just a quick minute because some of you will say, "I don't read paranormal." Stop. The paranormal influence is very minute that you won't even mind it. The abilities that the main characters have are woven in so naturally that you won't have time to really analyze this fact. Not once while reading did I think, "This is so far out there."

Cain Killion is the son of a murderer. Just by looks alone, people are reminded of his father, Adam, at every turn, making his life even more difficult. He was fortunate to be taken under the wing of Mac, who then raised Cain after his father went to prison. With his DNA, who could guarantee he wouldn't turn into a killer as well? But Mac had faith and saved the boys life, raising him as his own. Cain has a unique ability due to his father's influence that Mac, who works for the FBI, can't deny could help with his cases and gives Cain an outlet for his abilities.

Mercy is one of Adam Killion's victims, except she survived, if you call being holed up in an institution surviving. With her own abilities guiding her through life, she has been able to avoid quite a bit of danger, until one day when her life is thrust back into chaos.

The FBI has a new case dropped in their laps that pulls Cain and Mercy together in the most unlikely of ways. Depending on one another means survival, but it's one of the last things either is comfortable with. They will need to overcome their personal hang-ups if they want to solve this case and inevitably survive in the end.

Hoooo boy! I’m not sure how Ms. Roads does it, but I’m still amazed by her capacity to write the most heartfelt, innocent and beautiful love stories woven into the darkest, most twisted, disturbingly gory plot lines.

I’m not entirely sure how to classify Saving Mercy. It is definitely a paranormal suspense and has some dark aspects. The amount of blood and gore almost makes me want to say horror too.

Cain and Mercy share a traumatic past, while not exactly the same, the horrors they’ve survived have one link in common. One that not only has been haunting them ever since, but that resulted in them developing some type of psychic abilities.

Cain reminded me a bit of Dexter Morgan, he has a love/hate relationship with blood and how his ability works. He is convinced he’s a monster who’s going to be pushed into snapping someday. Even when using his ability to help the FBI solve murders takes a great toll on him, not only physically but emotionally and psychically too, he can’t see any good in himself.

Cain was a broken man, that he survived his childhood and still maintained the capacity to feel was just plain amazing. He was incredibly caring in spite of the many issues he had, and the way he fought against what he feared was his nature was awe inspiring. My heart went to him time and again, I just wanted to hug him.

Mercy was also an incredibly strong character. The fact that she was alive was a testament to her force of will, and how she battled against the external forces threatening her sanity was incredible. That she could still love, forgive and function was a small miracle.

I really connected to both her and Cain. I felt their pain, their struggles and their love for each other. This also means my heart was broken time and again when the issues they had to overcome seemed to be too much for them to handle.

With the suspense and mystery that will keep you turning the pages, the connection and chemistry between Cain and Mercy and that perfect balance between horrifically disturbing shit and the loveliest of love stories, Saving Mercy is a very engaging read. Though I’m still thinking that I wouldn’t want to be in Ms. Roads mind’s world… like, ever.

Saving Mercy was by far the most gruesome romantic suspense book that I have ever read. To say that there was a lot of blood would be an understatement. There was blood everywhere. Blood was literally the main theme of the book. Blood relations, painting in blood, and to make things even more disturbing, the hero Cain Killion is able to get into the mind of any killer by covering his body in victims’ blood. It was beyond disgusting and just plain old nasty.

Cain Killion is an FBI consultant who uses his unique ability for good in order to make up for the heinous crimes committed by his biological father Adam Killion, who is in prison for killing the Ledger Family 20 years ago when Cain was only ten. The twist in all of this is that Adam left the youngest of the Ledger family alive although he did attempt to slash her throat. Her name is Mercy and for the past two years, she has been wrongfully imprisoned in a mental institution. When symbols from a current murder scene point Cain in Mercy’s direction for answers, he ends up breaking her out of the institution and discovering that he and Mercy have an attraction to each other that can’t be denied. In addition, Mercy has been mentally and physically abused by her doctor all of this time. In fact, the doctor is so obsessed with her that he goes looking for her and Cain. But that’s not all of it. As the FBI’s investigation into a possible disciple of Adam Killion continues, Cain puts the pieces together and what he finds out will shake him to the core and bring him to the breaking point.

The psychological implications of Saving Mercy are disturbing. The level of violence and bloodletting will make your skin crawl. I don’t even see how it was possible to weave a romance into all of this brutality. It was very difficult to enjoy the parts of the book that were clearly intended to be hot and steamy when all I could think about was when was the next blood scene going to occur. Honestly, I don’t know if I could stomach another book like this one.

If you have a fear of blood or its details, this book might not be for you. I find it a bit hard rating this book as well. There were good and bad aspects which I will explain in my review.

Cain Killion, also known as Killer Killion's Kid, aka Triple K, has been living in the shadows of his father's sins. He was forced to endure his father's torture as a child, and through that torture, he developed a sensory ability to get into a killer's mind by touching and bathing in the blood of the victims and replaying the moments before their deaths. Now he uses that ability to help the FBI solve murder cases.

Very interesting premise for a book, right? Though you have to suspend some disbelief to get through the book.

It is almost twenty years since the Ledgers family was murdered by Adam Killion, leaving the only victim, Mercy Ledger and a symbol drawn on the wall as evidence. Now on a current murder case, that same symbol has surfaced and Cain must decipher what it means and what connections it has to his father's crimes.

Mercy Ledger is trying to survive, as much as you could survive in a mental institution where the psychiatrist who's supposed to be helping you is also a sociopath. Cain needs to know what Mercy knows from that crime years ago, so they must somehow work to figure this out. Not easy to do when you have a target on your back.

There's a romance that develops between Cain and Mercy but what ruined the enjoyment for me was their self-deprecating thoughts of themselves and how they'd be better off leaving the other person alone. It was frustrating in that as soon as something happens to the other person, they realize they can't live without them. Mind you, both these characters have been through the ringer in the "mindfuck" category of twisty proportion.

There is an unexpected twist in the book that left some questions unanswered, which I assume will be addressed in the next book. Although there were some issues in the book, such as the unexplained reason how Adam Killion was caught in the first place, what drove him to kill, his motives, etc. I find it hard to believe that after 70-something murders, he would be caught so easily. It would be nice if this information was filled in. There were parts where the story and its directions were predictable so I wasn't surprised when they were revealed. The author's writing is good, albeit the prose is flowery at times considering the context of blood and gore. It was still an interesting read for a psychological thriller but the loose ends and the pacing, which dropped halfway through, made me round the ratings down to 4 stars instead 5.

Thank you Sourcebooks Casablanca and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

SAVING MERCY is the first instalment in Abbie Roads’s contemporary, adult FATAL TRUTH paranormal, romantic suspense series. This is FBI profiler Cain Killion, and Mercy Ledger’s story line.

NOTE: SAVING MERCY contains scenes of graphic violence, blood shed and murder, and may not be appropriate for all readers.

Told from several third person points of view including Cain and Mercy SAVING MERCY focuses on Cain Killion, the son of a serial killer, and Mercy Ledger-one of Cain’s father’s victims -a woman who survived but finds herself victimized over and over again. Twenty years earlier Mercy’s entire family was brutally slaughtered by Adam Killion and in the ensuing years, Mercy has struggled to find her place in society until the day she found herself locked in a mental institution against her will. Enter Cain Killion, Adam Killion’s son, and the man who will fall in love with one of his father’s victims. What ensues are Cain’s attempts to save Mercy from a potential copy –cat killer; a stalker who uses Mercy for his own perverted pleasure; and the fall out from a killer’s need for power and control.

Cain Killion has the ability to ‘read’ blood-a killer’s thought and ideas whenever he touches the blood of one of the victims. His psychic abilities leave our hero in a world of hurt and pain, and not without some difficult side effects he’d rather not endure but as an FBI profiler Cain’s ‘powers’ can be used as a positive when on the hunt for the criminally responsible, making amends for his father’s past. His connection to Mercy Ledger comes on the twentieth anniversary of her family’s murders, and a string of killings linking directly back to Mercy and Cain find our couple on the run, not knowing whom to trust or where next to turn. The overwhelming darkness and demons continue to ride Cain Killion-a man whose own father destroyed everything he touched. Mercy is not without some psychic abilities of her own, and together they will form a powerful team but not before Mercy is targeted by someone from her past.

SAVING MERCY is an intense, tragic and alarming look at one man’s ability to destroy everything in his path. There are moments of passion and romance, atrocious violence and abhorrent acts, betrayal, redemption and vindication. The premise is suspenseful and disturbing; the characters are broken, destructive and tormented; the romance is fated, profound and heartbreaking. SAVING MERCY is a dark, deadly, fiery and tense story; a well written psychological thriller about a tortured hero, and the woman with whom he will fall in love.

There is much about Saving Mercy which is original and makes it stand out from other paranormal romance novels. The first being there isn’t a vampire or werewolf in sight. The next being this is told mainly from Cain’s point of view, meaning we gain a deeper connection with the male character than we necessarily normally would and he is a character who has been through the nine circles of hell and all before he was old enough to drive.

There is a unique depth to Cain that comes not just with his pain but with his compassion and need to do right. We don’t learn everything about him even by the end of the book I felt and I think that’s a good thing leaving more to learn in future novels and leaving plenty of room for layers to be peeled back as his story develops as it has significantly in this novel.

Mercy, was a victim of Cain’s father, a notorious serial killer, the only one to survive and now Cain is on a mission to save her from somebody else determined to harm her. Mercy is strong and determined. She has used her experiences with Cain’s father as a way to garner inner strength and will and she doesn’t want to let anyone get past her walls of steel. But she feels an affinity with Cain and knows she can trust him.

And so onto the next thing that is different for this genre, the powers these two character hold, these were wholly original and unique. I’ve never read a book where the characters held powers like these two had. And despite these characters having powers, they weren’t powers that were particularly useful in a dangerous situation, they weren’t going to necessarily save their lives. Being human, using their senses, and just being sensible in general like any normal person was all that would help them.

Overall, this is a well thought-out, executed and thoroughly enjoyable novel.

Sending a huge thanks to Abbie Roads and InkSlinger PR for the eARC so that I could read and honestly review this novel.

SAVING MERCY is frightening, thrilling and in it's own way a sweet romance. Whenever two people who are troubled can find solace and love, it's a good read. Cain is the son of a serial killer, who was training him to follow in his footsteps, but he escaped his hold and is now an F.B.I. consultant. He uses the victims blood to get into the head of the killer. Kind of creepy but it works for him and this book. Mercy has had a hard life and with the "help" of a crazed psychologist she has been trapped in a psych ward under his "care." Being rescued by the son of the man who destroyed her life, might seem totally wrong but this turns out to be the best thing that could happen to Mercy.

The atmosphere of the whole book is tense (really serial killer on the loose, what do you expect) but author Abbie Roads does manage to bring some light and warmth to two people who desperately need it. I especially liked the fact that the good doctor got his and that the book did end on a very positive note. You will have to read to find out what happens as I can't say more.

If you love dark, edgy, slightly crazy storylines, with a couple who are survivors and perfectly matched for each other and most off all ... you don't mind sleeping with a nightlight, then SAVING MERCY is perfect for you.

Saving Mercy delivers in the thriller aspect to the max, the tone perfect, the plot well thought out. Although it is a romance, it is also ironic that the romantic aspect seemed rush and often times feels like it impedes the momentum of the story. By the middle of the story Mercy and Cain's romance feels more tacked on rather than the main point of the book. Nevertheless, Saving Mercy will have readers feeling the heart pounding suspense and dark tones of how it feels to be hunted and scared out of your wits!

4 Stars!

Wait until you read this crazy good, dark, romantic thriller from Abbie Roads! This was not at all what I expected, but I was hooked from the first chapter!

Before I go any further, let me just give you a warning - if reading about blood makes you skittish,do NOT read this book. Just trust me on that. Also, there is a lot of violence, so if that isn’t your thing, you’ve been warned.

I need to keep this entirely spoiler free, because I would be doing you a disservice otherwise.

Cain is special, as in he has a special ability. He is dark and brooding and just trust me when I say you will love him. He is so desperately broken. He lives the sins of his father and wars with himself over it every day. When he meets Mercy, something changes in him. Mercy makes him feel things. He is fiercely protective of her, but she is of him, too.

Mercy is exactly what Cain needs. She is patient and kind and her feelings for him run deep. It was amazingly emotional seeing them grow and reading the development of their relationship.

When you read the first chapter, you may be like “What the heck?”, but keep reading. This was so good. It will suck you in and take you on one heck of a journey!

My first thought is "Wow. I didn't see that coming!"
Cain Killion, the Hero of the story is the son of a serial killer. He has a special "gift". He can read the details of traumatic events, usually murder, by immersing himself in the fresh blood left at the scene of the crime. He works as a Special Profiler for the FBI. Our first encounter with Cain is when he is re-visiting a murder of a family. We learn that he is connected to the murderer, a person who apparently has copied his father's methods and style.
The Heroine of the story, Mercy Ledger, is the surviving victim of Cain's father . She was hospitalized in the Center of Balance and Wellness, a mental institution. She is under the "care" of a rather nefarious psychiatrist, Dr. Payne, and escapes when Cain comes to see her.
The plot has many surprises, and twists and turns which capture the interest. There is a relationship between Cain and Mercy, and there is a happy ending for them.
Abby Roads successfully creates an alternate reality where the existence of special gifts are not denied, even if they are not exactly accepted. There is character development, an action driven plot which makes sense, and most side stories are neatly wrapped up.

I was enthralled from the start! Saving Mercy totally had me questioning my sanity…see this book is 320 pages of twisted, graphic, gruesome, crazy, dark, sexy, emotional, edge of your seat romantic suspense with a touch of paranormal thrown in and I LOVED IT! Yes, I said SEXY and that’s one reason why I’m questioning my sanity. The hero, Cain, has a special unconventional ability to help solve murders. This ability was triggered by a horrific childhood experiences that have left him a broken man, a man who feels like he is a monster.

Mercy, oh dear Mercy, she’s got one of the saddest background stories ever. Actually Mercy and Cain’s background stories are equally horrific and interwoven with each other in different ways as a result of something that occurred twenty years ago.

Mercy and Cain are two broken souls who should never work, but they do in the most beautiful, albeit twisted, way. Their chemistry is undeniable; their bond indestructible, their present path is full of pain, heartache, deviousness all orchestrated by an insidious, sinister puppet-master, the identity of who I never saw coming. As I write this review I continue to question my sanity because with as twisted and gruesome as it is I love Cain and Mercy’s story and I cannot wait to see how much more twisted Abbie Roads can get.

Cain could still feel the desperate energy of the dying and almost the echoes of their screams . Cain hated the sight of the blood but here he was standing in another murder house. Mac was also there and he was the senior special agent for the FBI on this case. Mac was Cain’s adopted dad and still acted like even if Cain was thirty and a grown man. Cain hated this but he knew no one else had the history Cain did or could do what Cain could do no one else could give the information Cain could. . Even if he wanted to run he always stayed. Cain’s “ profiles” were more accurate and detailed then a normal profiler could achieve. In most cases his profiles lead the law right to the perpetrator. He was Killer Killian’s Kid- Triple K as the media dubbed him. Cain needed to be around blood and death. He was the spawn of a serial killer and had the predisposition to be a killing machine like his father. One of the ways Cain found to curb the ugly urges was to force himself to be at the murder scenes. The worst part Cain would never say is sometimes he enjoyed himself. The family: parents and daughter had been killed in the house. The blood sent him back to when he was very much his father’s son back to when blood covered his skin - so wrong yet so soothing at times. Blood was a pleasure and pain to Cain; a gift and a curse. Blood opened a doorway into the minds and bodies of those who found bliss in brutally ending life. Cain became the killer and saw what the killer saw, did what the killer did, and felt what the killer felt. A dull thumping started behind Cain’s eyes that always happened after he saw the images the thumping would end up in a migraine. The look on Max’s face when he asked Cain if he was back reminded Cain of when Max found him he had been covered in nose mucus, blood and shame. Cain felt he had never been a kid more a monster than anything as far as Cain was concerned . Cain had several scars on his body and they were all put there on his body by his father . But there was a girl and her name was Mercy Ledger who had been age ten when Killian had killed her family had cut her throat also and yet somehow she had survived. Mercy had made a mark on the wall at her home and now that same mark had been on a painting done in blood before he painted over it but Cain had seen it. Mercy had been cut twenty years ago. But Mercy hadn’t made the mark this time she had been locked up in the Center Of Balance And Wellness for the past few years. Cain had been checking on Mercy for the last twenty years . She had been Killian’s only survivor. The dark days with his father Cain had been forced to work with Killian at the same Center Of Balance And Wellness and had started at the age of five as his father had been the night janitor. While working there Cain had met and got close to a night nurse named Liz and she had been the only person to ever show Cain any kindness at the time. Liz had stayed in Cain’s life and was one of the few people Cain considered a friend and the closest thing he had ever had to a mother. Mercy could now recognize bad intentions every since that night with KIillion. Cain went to the Center to talk to Mercy about the meaning of that symbol and Liz brought mercy out in a wheelchair but Mercy was totally out of it. Liz told Cain he had to take Mercy away from the there before Dr. Payne destroyed her. Cain took mercy to a cabin he rented that no one knew about and he paid extra for no questions asked. No one knew of this place and could relate it to Cain in any way.
I loved this story as much as you can love this type of story. It was so intense I didn't’ want to put it down and i had no problem with my interest lagging. This had me on the end of my chair a lot and I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next. I was hooked at the very beginning and stayed that way until the last page had been read. The plot was absolutely stupendous and the book was consuming and I didn’t want to put it down. For Mercy and Cain’s life to be so entwined and truly messed up by the same man was mind boggling. I am also glad Cain when realized Max truly loved him as a son with unconditional love and then to have Mercy. This is definitely one of my new favorites. I don’t want to give anymore of the story away so I will simply say I highly recommend you read this book I don’t believe you will regret it if you are into murder mysteries with a lot of violence type books this is absolutely excellent.

This is my first Abbie Roads book and I have to say that I was surprised at how much I liked it. While I like to think that I'm a suspense/triller person, I haven't really read that genre in the past couple of years. So when I saw the blog for this, I couldn't resist.

I was absolutely emerged into the story and I honestly had no idea where it would go. Just when I thought it would be one way, we were thrown a different twist.

I really loved both Cain and Mercy. Each of them have a traumatic past that stumps their continued mental growth. Their past is dark, gritty and unfathomable. Yet, they somehow end up together in a place where they make it work.

Overall, I really enjoyed this start to a new series and I can't wait to get my hands on more. If you are looking for a psychological romantic suspense, this is absolutely for you!

Cain has a special gift, he can find murderers through a connection with the victim's blood. He isn't proud of what he can do and thinks he is a predator, a monster. He helps the FBI to solve cases, but he doesn't believe in his own goodness. Cain is a product of his father's grooming when he was a child. When a recent crime is being linked to the murders that made Cain's life change forever, Cain knows where to find more information, with Mercy, the only survivor of this crazy deed. Cain thinks he's the last person she wants to see, but he's the only one who can save her life.

Mercy has been a victim countless times, but she knows that as long as the people who are after her won't be able to touch her spirit she will heal. Someone who wants to harm her has locked her up and Cain is the only one who can get her out. Instead of recognizing him as the evil creature he thinks he is, Mercy thinks Cain belongs to her, they are bound by something powerful. While they're being chased they find each other. Do they have a chance together or will the awfulness that keeps following them win after all?

Mercy is strong, determined, selfless and incredibly brave. She's been through a lot, but as long as she's in control of her own mind nobody can break her. When she meets Cain she feels a connection and she can see his core. Both Mercy and Cain have a special gift and they understand one another. I love books about soul mates and Mercy and Cain are fabulous together. Cain is a kind and caring man, but he thinks he's something horrible on the inside. Mercy makes him aware of who he really is and I admired her for that. She protects Cain as much as he protects her and their bond is beautiful. It's been formed in terrible circumstances and Saving Mercy is a clear example of the idea that sometimes the greatest evil can also create something good and wonderful.

Saving Mercy is an incredibly creepy and compelling book. Abbie Roads writes about serial killers in a fantastic frightening way and she keeps playing with the boundaries between good and evil. I loved that about her story. She has a gripping writing style that always keeps me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. Her main characters are unique and I love her detailed and creative descriptions of their personalities. Saving Mercy is dark, interesting, twisted and captivating. I read the story in one sitting, because I couldn't put it down. The story has many surprising twists and turns and some shocking scenes that genuinely spooked me. It has a terrific scary ending that's both fitting and mind-blowing. Saving Mercy is a very promising start of a new series, I highly recommend it and can't wait to read more.
