Lock the Door by Jane Holland is a  domestic psychological thriller .Even though I read a lot of missing child books recently Lock the Door had me guessing till the end and was an engrossing read

'Lock the Door' is one of the best thrillers where a missing child is concerned.  A very well written book with plenty of twists and turns.  Loved it!  I seldom write what a story is about as i prefer one to read a book for themselves, but i do recommend.

This is my first time reading Jane Holland, and it was amazing.  It kept me reading into the early hours of the morning.  I am not one to give anything away in a review, so you have got to read this one if you want to know what kept me practically glued to my seat to read it in one go.  Brilliant writing and a brilliant story!

This story is filled with unlikeable people and I just found it more lagging than suspenseful. It's not hard to predict the ending. I found the whole book to be just an okay read.

Um. No.  This book felt like a roller coaster that would not stop.  I hated the characters and it to soo long to get to the point of the story and by then, I did not care.

Everybody knows about the Madeleine McCann disappearance.  But its there far away, it won't happen to me, so why worry about it.
Until it happens to you. What now....
It was an entertaining, thrilling read, and I can't wait to read more of Ms Holland's books.

Meghan a stay at home mum to son Harry who was born with a life threatening condition, he needs daily injections and a clean, sterile environment. When Harry goes missing during a celebration in their garden with friends it seems as if someone managed to get through a locked door to get to him and to know to take some of his medication, As soon as the police come into it we become aware of the true extent of Harry’s illness and needs.
I felt for Meghan when one of the very worst things that can happen to a mother happens to her, she receives less than no support from husband Jon. I felt that he played mind games with her, using her previous mental health issues to make her feel at fault.
Conveniently and to add more drama we read that the Cornish baby snatcher is at large in their area and the police automatically assume that he has Harry.  Meghan on the other hand thinks it could be someone close to her, this is when she goes into mama lion mode, she begins to doubt her friends and family.
I didn’t guess who the kidnapper was which I am always pleased about.

Lock the Door was such a fab book I could not put it down, it's a shame I had to work otherwise I would have read this book in one day.
It's every parents nightmare your child goes missing, but he also has a serious illness that needs medication, will he survive or has he already been killed.
Just as I thought I'd guessed who had done it another twist came along that threw my idea out.
A great book well deserving of 5 stars.

Meghan and Jon's world is torn apart when their newborn is diagnosed with a rare condition. Meghan fiercely protects the infant from the things that could end his life. One night the couple is hosting a dinner party in their back yard while seven-month-old Harry sleeps upstairs in the locked house. As the dinner party winds down, they discover their son is missing. He's disappeared into the night.

With her world shattered, Meghan does everything she can to find her son. Detectives may be busy looking into the disappearance of a number of babies in the area, but Meghan refuses to sit around waiting. She starts delving into those closest to them, which may bring things to light that Meghan will never be able to forget.

Lock the Door is a pretty gripping suspense novel. I was a little hesitant as there's another recent release, The Couple Next Door, that shares similarities. I feared I'd be reading the same general story. Thankfully, they are different enough that my fears were never substantiated.

My bigger issue is that I found the police work to be a little sloppy on the part of the investigators. I'm no detective, but I was surprised by how quickly they wrote off certain characters. The story does build quickly and keep you guessing. I wish I'd felt a stronger bond with the characters, but that wasn't to be. As a result, I liked Lock the Door, but I never loved it.

This book had me gripped from the very start. Meghan's son Harry is poorly and she is a very protective mum. Jon her husband is a lawyer and not a very good husband. One night they have a party and the neighbours and friends come around for a lovely dinner. Harry is taken during the night and Meghan is desperate to find him. There is someone out there who is snatching babies but Meghan believes it's someone close to her. Who can she trust - a heart in your mouth read which you are desperate to finish to find out what happens. Great characters

Lock the Door by Jane Holland is in my top 3 books of 2017 (so far).  I loved the writing in this novel even though I'm not keen on stories about missing children, the pace of the novel and the fact that it kept me guessing sustained my interest even after I had reached the end.  5 stars

It's Meghan and Jon's wedding anniversary and they have invited 2 other couples around for dinner.  What should have been a happy occasion turns into tragedy when their baby son is snatched from his cot upstairs.  The baby has a life threatening illness which compounds the situation.  Meghan, naturally is distraught and is not helped by the behaviour of other people.  I loved the cover, idea and that it was set in lovely Truro but didn't feel the same about any of the characters.  Meghan  comes across as annoying and wishy washy.  A stronger police presence might have prevented her from doing stupid things.  Take this book on holiday as it's very easy to read and not over complicated - just right for the beach!

Very clever writing. I have never read a novel by this author before. The writing was fresh and kept me up at night guessing who had taken the baby.. It was a very fresh concept.

The beginning of this story is similar to other novels I have read but there are twists thrown in throughout the storyline that makes this different from the other books. I enjoyed the writing style of this author and I was happy that the storyline ended the way it did and I was not expecting it. I read it in one sitting because I wanted to see how it ended!

I enjoyed this book, the characters were believable and most were likeable too.   The storyline keeps the reader interested and was paced just right.

A chilling story, with a sinister feel which never left me. The suspense and tension built and built, reaching a thrilling end. Really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend

Wow! This book had me engaged from the first to last page! Hands down an awesome, suspenseful, and gripping story! 

The story focuses on Jon and Meghan Smith and their baby Harry who is taken from his crib as the parents are entertaining some friends in the backyard (garden.) There seem to be a lot of stories based around missing children and child abductions of late. It's a popular theme and I think this story was cleverly written and got it right. It most certainly is one of the better ones. 

Loved everything about this book. The writing flows so easily, it's suspenseful and emotional. I especially enjoyed that I could not figure out until the end what exactly was going on. That constitutes a great book for me. Highly recommend this one.

Brilliant.  This is the first Jane Holland book for me and although a slow start, so glad that I didn't abandon it.  A very gradual build up of tension with a very dramatic climax that just kept me up all night reading.

I couldn't put this down and I was biting my nails trying to figure out what was going to happen.  Poor baby Harry with medical problems get kidnapped and his mother is frantic trying to find him, She accuses everyone and her and her husband end up resenting each other.  Him for different reasons but when Meghan finally finds out who kidnapped her baby, you won't believe how close of a relationship this person has to Meghan. Great, easy read but you won't be able to put it down.
