I enjoyed the first half of the book but found myself loosing interest toward the middle. You need to concentrate a lot and I'm not sure my head was in it.

This is a super creepy, intriguing beguiling read that will keep you guessing.

Jar doesn’t believe that his girlfriend Rosa could take her own life. He knows her. She wouldn’t do such a thing. Why?

In his dreams he sees her, on the tube, doing this, doing that, going here going there. He’s convinced this is not dreams, it’s not his imagination.

He discovers her diary. That convinces him that she didn’t take her life, maybe she’s hiding, but, from what?

This is full of intensity that shuck me.

The authors writing is amazing. I loved it

oh my gosh, I have never read anything quite like this book. As the story develops, you think "ah, ha!", this is where it is going. But you're wrong. It changes just enough to keep the reader on the back foot, wondering and anticipating the next page. A bit slow and rambly in places, and unlikely in others, but the stroyline is solid and it is a thoroughly good read. I promise you, it isn't going to take you where you think it does.

Thanks to netgalley for the opportunity to have read this entertaining book. The conspiracy theories from beginning to end had me hooked and I couldn't wait to see how it all played out. Well written!

What such a tricky book! Nothing was what I expected when I first started this story, I was expecting a psychological thriller, which is what I would class it as in the end but all throughout I was questioning it as a spy thriller, mystery or a story on mental illness.....maybe it was all of these too?

I usually write my own short synopsis of the book when I write a review, it just makes the story clearer in my head for me. But I'm not even going to try for this book, as I think it's best to go into to this with just the publisher blurb, it's almost the less you know the better. It is told in two parts and I found part one a little of a slow build. The story is told in chapters of the present and 4 years past, with diary entries as well. Once I got my head around the way it's written it worked for me. But once I hit part 2, the story edged up a ramp and ran away. While I did guess where it was headed, it didn't detract from the story at all, it had me quite on edge.

My only real criticism is that there where a few too many characters with the letter M ie Miles, Max, Martin. It took quite a while to get these clear in my head as to who was who. So at first I was getting a little lost. Other than that I thought it was a great read.

Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for a copy to read and review.

Gripping throughout, so many twists made it a compulsive page turner. One of the best books from this genre that I have read in a long time!

Thanks to NetGalley and Head of Zeus for a copy of this book for review.

I read a lot, especially in the ever increasingly popular genre of psychological thrillers so it takes a lot to impress me. I was impressed by this book. Jar is a writer in his twenties grieving for his lost love, Rosa. Five years previously she killed herself by jumping off the pier at Cromer in Norfolk allegedly devastated by the death of her beloved father. So, why does Jar keep seeing her? Is she still alive or is he hallucinating? Anyone who has suffered a loss may have experienced that feeling of seeing their loved one in odd places, of sensing their presence and hearing their voice. Jar is aware of this factor of grief and accepts that he is hallucinating but at the beginning of this book he increasingly feels that Rosa is alive. He has had a more realistic than usual sighting of Rosa in a train station and in addition he thinks someone is watching him, trying to find out what he knows. When his flat is burgled and nothing taken this is enough to convince him that he has to find her.

This is not only a well plotted book with enough twists and turns to keep even the most cynical of readers happy, but it has sympathetic and realistic characters. The one who really comes to life is Jar. He is young, handsome, a talented (but blocked) writer, and devoted to the memory of Rosa so as well as being a thriller, this is also a love story. His workmate Carl also stands out in a vivid cast of characters, faithful and funny, he is a good friend to have in a crisis.

The story is told through from Jar's point of view and also through extracts from Rosa's diary and later on, extracts from the journal of another central character (no spoilers so I won't reveal who this is). This is quite a common plot device these days and it is handled well here with the voices being quite distinct. There is humour throughout which helps to lighten the darkness of some of the scenes. The excuses given by Jar, Carl and their workmates for being late to work or absent are worth a book in themselves.

Overall, a worthy addition to the genre. Highly recommended.

This wasn't my favourite book I have read lately as it did take me a while ton get into. I think I struggle with conspiracy theories, government cover up story lines but I enjoyed the ending and likedo the main character Jar

I struggled through this book. I found it hard to follow. It did all come together in the final chapter. I also found the animal cruelty too gruesome for me.

A neat little mystery & paranoia surrounding the death by suicide of a loved one.
The novel discusses several themes such as mental health, suicide and paranoia, that I think would make it perfect for reading groups also.

Five years ago, Jarlath’s (“Jar”) girlfriend Rosa disappeared without a trace, leaving behind an apparent suicide note and witnesses who claim they saw her on Cromer pier on a stormy night, from which she presumable jumped to her death. CCTV cameras in the area confirmed that Rosa entered, but never left the pier. Unable to come to terms with Rosa’s death, Jar still suffers from “post-bereavement hallucinations”, seeing Rosa in people he meets in everyday life – a stranger on the train, a woman shopping in the supermarket. When Rosa’s aunt Amy tells Jar that she has accidentally come across some encrypted files on her computer which could be Rosa’s diary, Jar hopes he may finally find some answers as to why Rosa felt the need to kill herself, and get closure. But the diary, once deciphered, throws up more questions than it answers – and strangest of all, doubts that Rosa did indeed jump to her death that night. Could Rosa still be alive? Jar soon discovers that he is not the only one looking for the answer to that question. The police have suddenly developed a keen interest in getting their hands on the files, and Jar has a feeling that he is being followed. By looking for Rosa, could he be putting them both in danger?

Whilst the general premise of Find Me is not original – a person presumed dead is being spotted by her loved ones, throwing up doubts that she or he is still alive – Monroe has certainly put his own unique spin on the idea and taken the reader on a twisty journey of conspiracy theories that takes a few quite unusual turns along the way. Jar’s voice gripped me right from the outset and drew me into the story. I could literally feel his torment and feared for him as he set out to discover the truth behind Rosa’s disappearance. With Jar’s inner demons thus exposed, there is of course always the question of how reliable he is as a narrator, adding a bit of suspense and doubt to an otherwise well-trodden path. In some passages, the pace and style of the narrative was reminiscent of a Harlan Coben tale (which I usually enjoy). Rosa’s voice is introduced into the book in the form of diary entries, which start off as long narratives that would normally set me off on a rant that nobody writes a diary like that. However, as Jar’s hunt for the truth continues, her entries become more frantic, jumbled and cryptic, alerting the reader that time is running out for Rosa. And very cleverly it all ties together and makes perfect sense in the end, which I will not spoil here.

Just as the reader is tempted to cast a deep sigh heavenwards, thinking that he / she has worked it all out, the story twists and turns and throws all theories out the window once again. The ending is quite unexpected, and for good measure the author seasons it with a last sprinkling of doubt, which will leave a little seed of “what if” behind, even after all the threads have come together. I really love that in a mystery! Whilst I felt the story lost a bit of momentum in the second half, with the introduction of another POV, it always kept the right amount of intrigue to look forward to the moment where I could pick it up and continue reading – even though it did not have the same grip on me as Jar’s first chapters. Some well-researched dark and often confronting elements in the later part of the book added depth lacking in other similar mysteries. This made up for the moments of having to suspend disbelief, especially concerning the timeline, and a couple of plot holes that didn’t quite add up. But of course, in true conspiracy theory fashion, it could be possible! All in all, a very enjoyable, fast paced and intriguing read. I look forward to reading a lot more from this talented author in future.
