Loved it! Maya is so cool, an ex-cop who now runs a martial arts school and Alex is a doctor who is looking for something for his daughter he just found out he had to do. Sexy, funny and totally adorable. |
I have such mad love for this book. Maya, Alex, Charli, heck the whole bunch of them. Erin does an exceptional job of not only giving us a brilliant, romantic story, she also educates us on a serious disease that I bet many people know very little about. The love and devotion Alex has for Charli is abundantly clear. I love how he goes above and beyond to learn all he can about her likes and interests, wanting to make sure they form a tight bond since he wasn’t even told he had a daughter until she was 9! I was worried there was going to be some serious issues with Rachel. I’m so glad things went as smoothly as they did. I absolutely love Maya. Former cop, martial arts and weapons expert, all things comic and cosplay guru all wrapped up in the spitfire that is Maya. Even though she has an injury from her time on the force, she doesn’t let that get her down. Granted, she pushed herself beyond the limits at times, but she is determined to get back to 100%, no matter what anyone says. When she researched hemophilia, all because she found out about Charli’s condition - that was beyond touching and heart-warming. Holy hotness batman - the chemistry between Maya and Alex is instant, electric, and off-the-charts! Even though Alex tries to resist the connection at first because Charli has to come first, there is no way these two can control the pull to be together. Alex is a little hesitant because she is 100% all go, all action, whereas he is more reserved and cautious. Maya brings out a playful and freeing side in Alex and Alex helps Maya see that sometimes there are limits and limitations. He makes her feel things she has never felt - heart, mind, and soul. She makes him see life is for living - not always hiding in a bubble. The emotions are all here and you will feel every one. The writing is perfect, the characters are well-developed, the conversations are fluid and real. Such an amazing read you do not want to pass up! |
Forever Mine continues the Opposite Attract series by Erin Nicholas. Erin has written a wonderful story about an ex-cop turned martial arts instructor and a cautious conscientious doctor… who have a chemistry that is off the charts. Maya has left the police force and is now teaching martial arts classes. She is part of the gaming world and loves to dress up and lives life with an all-out attitude. Alex is a doctor who has just recently discovered he has a daughter who shares a common bond beyond their familial one… they are both hemophiliacs. He lives his life more cautiously due to his disease but is intrigued by the gaming world his daughter is a part of. Alex wants to protect his daughter at all costs but Charli wants to live her life to the fullest and loves superheroes and Galactic Renegades. After encountering Maya at a demonstration at a local mall, he wants to get to know her better and sees it as an opportunity to share something with his daughter. Maya is more than willing to help him out and as they spend time together, the old adage that opposites attract plays out. As per usual for Erin, this is a well written story that is sensitive to the concerns of a parent dealing with their child and a chronic illness. It can be read as a stand-alone but characters from the previous book make appearances so you may want to read the first book as well. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it without hesitation. |
Wow. This was such a good story. Loved Maya and Alex and what happens--beautiful characterization, excellent plotting and storytelling, great secondary characters... There is a meet cute but then the story really takes off and what I'm coming to truly appreciate is that Erin Nicholas not only writes the charming flirty moments and the heat, she also keeps it real and we also see the tough choices and uncomfortable feelings and the pressures of relationships and life. And she does it in a way that gives hope and inspiration for our own difficult times. We can see how honesty and vulnerability and trust are worth the effort and bring lasting rewards and that behaving like a grown up can really pay off. Put on those big girl / big boy undies and face down your challenges! Maya and Alex definitely are coming from opposite backgrounds. Maya's all-in, pedal-to-the-metal attitude both fascinates and alarms Alex, whose life is far more carefully controlled. Their mutual attraction is undeniable though, and they find much to appreciate and learn from each other. Naturally adjustments have to be made though, and the beauty is all in how their relationship unfolds. Ms Nicholas does this so wonderfully. This one's a keeper, and I trust that the next book to come will be as well. I can't wait! |

My heart melted so many times in this book. Maya and Alex are opposites but they find their chemistry unbeatable. Maya, ex-cop after an injury is now a martial arts instructor/ geek and Alex is a physician involved in research. Alex has just found out that he has a nine year old daughter and only wants the best for her. They are soon working together to make the best for Charli, Alex's daughter. Loved, loved Alex, such an awesome dad to Charli, involved in research to make his life and Charli's better with hemophilia and sexy as ever. Maya, total geek, daring and living in the moment. Loved this line, "having tingles where I haven't tingled in a long time, this is how I felt reading this book. I'm sorry Zach, you will need to move over for Alex, as my new book boyfriend. |

Love Alex and Maya. Maya is smart, sexy, and tough but when she meets Alex the sparks fly. Alex is just trying to connect with a daughter he just found out about her. Maya can help him better understand what his daughter likes and little by little they fall in love, however, both have to be willing to let the other into their heart. |

Forever Mine is book 2 in Erin Nicholas's Opposites Attract series. Once again Ms. Nicholas does a great job connecting the reader with the character and some real life tough situations. Alex and Mya will grab your attention from the beginning of the book and then add in the nine year old daughter Alex never knew he had and you have the makings of a great story you will not want to put down. |
***ARC Provided by the Publisher via NetGalley*** There are books that just get it right. And, this one is one of them. They tell a romance that you slide into, that feels good as you are reading it, that makes you want to turn the next page, to keep the Kindle open, to not go to sleep just yet. I think anyone who reads a lot knows this feeling, that enjoyment of just escaping into a book, to read something that you don't want to put down. From the beginning, Maya and Alex have chemistry. And, the build up of this chemistry is done to perfection. It's both a slow burn and a denial of the attraction that they each feel. I loved that you know there is a secret, and you know what it is right away. Although, Alex isn't telling others, the reader knows. And, it is interesting. I think this is the first book I have read that deals with this particular thing. I am not going to spoil it, although the author places the info in the acknowledgements at the beginning of the book, so I think it is a secret you are supposed to know. Alex has a secret, he has limitations that he doesn't want to admit to himself. Some of those are the expectations of others. Erin Nicholas balances this so well, the man who actually can manage sex against a wall with the man who maybe needs to play pool and poker instead of a full contact, rough sport. Alex also seems to think that he can manage to have all of the people he loves and cares for lving around him without interacting and impacting one another, and the way this is handled is both emotional and it feels real. Maya has a mission to get back something she had which she has lost. She has a focus toward it that doesn't change, it doesn't stop. It moves her forward in ways that may not be the healthiest, and it stops her a lot of the time from seeing what is right in front of her. And, because romance needs a connection between 2 people to really work, Maya and Alex understand one another. They know what it is like to be held back by something, to feel that they are not able to move forward because of something totally out of their control...and to hide behind it to the detriment of the things they are hiding from. Oddly enough, the first one in this series really didn't work for me and I actually hesitated when I received the invitation to read this one...I am so very glad I accepted the invite and gave this series another chance. Usually, I wouldn't put this into a review, that I wasn't that big of a fan of another book...but in this case, I am mentioning it just in case there is someone else who maybe didn't connect with the first, as it would be a shame to miss this one. I, obviously, recommend this book. |
FOREVER MINE, the second book in Erin Nicholas's latest series is every bit as wonderful as the first book, Completely Yours. This new series, Opposites Attract, has definitely become my favorite which is saying a lot because I'm a huge fan of the world and characters she's created in her Sapphire Falls series. But the Opposites Attract series goes to just a bit deeper level both in story line and character portrayal. There's still the same humor and witty dialogue, the same steam, and ALWAYS a great love story, but there's also a growth aspect to both characters as they blend their lives and become even better versions of their selves. I really love that aspect of these new books. Forever Mine, the story of Doctor Alex Nolan and Maya Goodwin is one of love at first sight. From the moment they lock eyes for the first time each of their worlds are tipped a little off their axis. Of course, it takes a little bit longer for them to realize they are perfect for each other for as the series name suggests, they couldn't be more opposite. Maya is an all-out, go for it, no holds barred, and basically fearless woman. She's an ex-cop who teaches martial arts and hand-to-hand combat skills in the studio she owns and runs with the help of her good friends. She is a weapon's expert, a sci-fi and comic book geek, and a gamer who loves to dress up in costumes. Alex is a doctor who due to his hemophilia has had to be careful all of his life. He swam competitively at the National level, but has never participated in contact sports. His work at the Children's Center, the research he does, and his speaking engagements have been his life. But Alex has recently discovered he has a nine year old daughter, Charli, who he has nothing in common with. Charli loves all things Galactic Renegades and Superheroes. He notices Maya at a demonstration she and her friends are giving at the mall and well, he can't take his eyes off of her. He also realizes she is just the woman with the information he needs to reach out and bond with his daughter. The sexy doctor catches Maya's eye too and she's not a bit shy about letting him know she's interested in getting to know him better. Much better. The chemistry between them is sizzling and it doesn't take long for Alex to admit he wants Maya for more than her knowledge of comic books and Galactic Renegades. Kiera and Zach, from Completely Yours are back. As are Sophie, Rob and Ben which adds a continuity and familiarity to the story. I recommend you read the first book, but these are stand-alone's and can be read independently too. 4.5 stars |
Review featured at www.books-n-kisses.com This is a really cute story. I had a bit of a hard time getting into it but once I was I couldn’t stop reading. Alex and Maya are adorable. They are so different from each other and yet so good together. I really enjoyed the beginning connection between Alex and his new found daughter. He is trying so hard but as a doctor/scientist he is very methodical. How sweet is it that whenever he learns something new about Charli he puts a note in his phone so he doesn’t make any mistakes later on. This is not a story that will change the world but it is a great beach read that leaves you feel good about life. Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. |
Oh man! I had been waiting for the release date for this book since I finished the first one. I could not believe my luck when it just so happened to be posted on NetGalley. Some of the perks of being a librarian :) Readers are first introduced to Maya in the first book of the series, Completely Yours (so good!). I was really looking forward to her story. Nicholas totally delivers on a great story and my expectations are met. And then some. Maya is a totally kick-ass heroine. She was a cop who got injured on the job and rather than work a desk job at the police station, she opens up a martial arts studio. I love that she promotes these kids classes where they get to become superheros. If this was real life, I would totally sign my daughter up. Then there is Alex. He is described as totally swoon worthy, hot and I want to date him! The chemistry between them is hot. They are kind of opposites. Maya is a total risk taker and jumps into any situation full force. Alex is way more laid back and careful. He has to think things through. He is conflicted about getting into a new relationship because his existing professional and personal life keep him quite busy. I like all the details about their group of friends. It's like we are totally getting to know them as our friends :) The story just draws you in. Great sex, funny dialogue and geekdom was never so cool. I think I like it so much because I feel like I have a lot in common with Maya. I love science fiction, cosplay and nerding out with some good tv shows. You just don't always find that in contemporary romance. I think that is part of what makes this series unique. Pick this book up when it comes out! Read the first book if you have not read it yet. Totally a weekend read. I LOVED it! |

Forever Mine is one of Erin Nicholas' best work and I've loved everything I've read of hers. This was a truly emotional, heartwarming story that touched my heart deeply and it was more than a love story between Alex and Maya, it was also a powerful story about a father trying to make a connection with his daughter. I totally loved Alex and Maya together and I adored the fact that Alex wanted to put Charlie's needs first at all cost no matter how misguided that was. I loved that Maya did everything she could to help Alex bond with Charlie and she showed that she was the perfect woman for him. This was truly an amazing book and a must read for all romance readers. |
Favorite Quotes: She had never been this wrapped up in how a guy looked. It was as if she couldn’t stop looking at him. And thinking dirty thoughts. Was this what it was like to be shallow? She didn’t mind it as much as she would have thought. I’m kind of hating that we’re on the phone right now… That’s a throw-you-over-my-shoulder thing to say, Maya. You’re the epitome of girl power… … he would never deserve her. But he was going to spend his life trying to. My Review: Alex was a man of science, as a medical researcher and doctor. He also had a significant medical condition. He has lived his life carefully and in a purposefully segmented manner. But that doesn’t always work with other people, especially confident, pushy, in-your-face/grab-life-by-the-horns type people, which was how Maya lived. I adored Maya. I love a feisty kick-ass chick, and she was certainly that and a whole lot more. I wasn’t the only one who adored Maya, Alex did too, although he was conflicted about his overwhelming attraction to Maya as he was already struggling with his new role of father to a nine-year-old daughter, and he seemed to think he could only focus on one thing at a time. Silly man! Erin Nicholas is a recent discovery for me and I adore her sweet and sexy style of storytelling that is a tasty treat, and worthy of breaking any diet. The books of hers that I have read have been thankfully low on melodrama and conflict while featuring sweet and engaging tales with realistic and endearingly flawed characters that cherish and support each other, what a novel concept for a romance! I have enjoyed her easy to follow and amusing stories, as well as her enticing characters, and plan to follow her like a treasure hunter. |

I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH! Maya goes all in all the time in everything she does and really doesn't know any other way to live so when she meets Alex Nolan and he needs her help to learn about martial arts and comic books and other assorted things she goes all in. Maya was injured as a police officer and her injury was severe enough to keep her from being in the field. Alex has a bleeding disorder and, surprise!, he has a daughter, Charli, he didn't know about and she has the same disorder and this impacts what she can do but Charli is a typical, active nine year old. Alex tries to keep everything compartmentalized but Maya is pusher and trying to keep everything separated is challenging. I loved everything about this story. Alex is a wonderful father who is learning to adapt to having a daughter and how to be a dad. Maya is Supergirl through and through and leads with her heart. I highly recommend this one. It could be read as a standalone. **Received and ARC copy for review from the publisher via NetGalley** |
Forever Mine was so freaking cute! I constantly had a smile on my face while reading this book. This book put me in such a great mood! Forever Mine was fluffy, romantic, and a lot of fun. The couple in this book was fantastic. I ship Maya and Alex SO HARD. Even though they seemed like they might be opposites, they worked so well together! Maya was super sassy, which lead to some hilarious banter between her and Alex. Their chemistry was palpable, and I ate it up. The author did a great job at building their romance and making it seem believable. There were plenty of geeky and adorable moments that made me laugh out loud. I loved all of the fun geeky stuff the author included in this book! That is one of the reasons I love this series so much and why I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book! This book had some heavier subjects, and I think the author handled them very well. They added some deep and meaningful moments to this light and fluffy book. Those moments made me very emotional, and I really liked that! Overall, this was a quick, fun, and adorable read. I would recommend this to anyone look for a sweet new romance book! 4.5 / 5 Fangs *This ebook was given to me in exchange for an honest review. * |
4.5 stars -- I received a free copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review/opinion. OK, this was a fantastic addition to this series!! And no, you most definitely do NOT have to read the first book to enjoy this one, but it's super adorable as well, so I definitely recommend it. I can honestly say that I loved both characters, and thought they both had some really unique aspects to their personalities, and were really well developed. Both Maya and Alex were extremely likable, but not without flaws. And because of those two aspects, it was so satisfying to see their growth over the course of the story, even if there were the occasional bits I wish we'd seen more of. Maya was seriously badass, but also so satisfyingly nerdy. She was just ridiculously one of a kind...I can't even figure out how to describe her. She's completely unlike me, but I could really see liking her. And admiring her. I kind of wish we'd seen a bit more of her development wrt her future goals...because they kind of changed over the story, but we didn't see her working that out, it just kind of happened along the way...one of those things that disappointed me. And Alex was so cautious and meticulous, and eager! He just kept surprising me along the way. I loved seeing the little steps he was making forward, even if he was moving a little slower than I'd like, and even if occasionally I wanted to smack him. But I kind of liked that he was not quite alpha, but not quite beta. He had his strengths and weaknesses, and he admired the crap out of Maya's strengths. And the chemistry between Maya and Alex was smoking and very enjoyable. But I could also see the relationship that developed between them that was more than just chemistry and lust. I loved the nerd aspect, and loved some of the introspective commentaries made about the nerd community and why we love superheroes and all that stuff. It just really felt...I don't know, intelligent? Is that insulting to other books? Or maybe it's insightful. Like not just the nerd aspect, but the story as a whole -- looking at why people help others, what that says about them, overcoming perceived weaknesses, all that good stuff. I also really loved the secondary characters in this one. I loved Maya's group of friends, and that they are important to her and an integral part of her life. I enjoyed Rachel, and was surprised that I did. She was a bit too good to be true at times, but I actually enjoyed that it wasn't a big dramafest and she really added to Alex's life. And Charli was pretty cool. I loved how important she was to Alex, and how he was just so enthralled with her, but he eventually learned the importance of the dad role. I did notice that occasionally things would happen that didn't make sense in the timeline that was in my head, but perhaps that will change in the final copy. It's just that sometimes some events would be only days apart when I'd been given the impression it was more like a few weeks. On a weird side note, I was surprised that none of the girls knew what hemophilia was, since I did...but I did an internet poll, and while the majority of my friends did know, there were a few that didn't so I can accept it. All in all I'm really loving this series. I sincerely can't wait for Sophie's story if it's anything like the first two. |
Maya is take life by the horns and run with it no holds bar. Alex is a cautious type of guy everything planned and calculated, everything for a purpose but he has his reasons and he needs to keep Maya away because it's for the best for both of their sakes Alex will stop at nothing to protect those he cares for and that includes someone he just found. These two seem to walking on egg shells which doesn't fit either but can they set it all aside and find a balance that works? There is a part in the book that is not for the faint of heat, but you know its coming and it can be skipped over. I was not a fan of this book I feel like at first it was all over the place one minute it was on one subject and then it seemed like opps need to get back to the story line. It seemed to me as the beginning the the end were good but in the middle was questionable. There were some strong language and adult scenes through out the book. I felt like the storyline was super fun to follow and I really enjoyed reading Charli's story her spunk and her personality totally seem to make the story. This book may be right for the right person just wasn't for me. |
***3.5 Stars*** Talk about living up to the series title. If you love an opposites attract story this is definitely the one for you. Maya and Alex fall on the opposite ends of the spectrum in some ways and yet have such similar values that it makes it easy to how they can fit so well together despite their differences. Maya is fearless. She goes after what she wants, sometimes without thinking and finding herself in not so great situations, but more often than not does end up achieving her initial goal. I loved her spontaneity and joy of life, as well as her huge heart. Alex lives inside the lines. He plays it safe and rarely steps outside of the structured life he’s made for himself, but he is most definitely not a stick in the mud. He’s charming and has a way of setting people at ease around him and he’s easy on the eyes. But what made me love Alex was his need to connect with his daughter. He wanted to understand why she loved the things she does and made every effort to learn about all of it, down to the tiniest detail. Maya and Alex’s journey to their HEA had a few bumps, but for the most part was a fun, sweet and flirty ride. I loved their flirtations as well as how honest they were with each other about their insane physical attraction to each other and it was fun to see Maya get under Alex’s skin and his struggle to stick to his self imposed rules. And though things do progress quickly, nothing feels rushed. They get to know each other and what makes them tick and end up admiring and respecting each other’s strengths instead of being intimidated by them. As for the whole Charli (Alex’s daughter) and Rachel (Charli’s mom) situation I really liked how it was handled. It was done without an overabundance of angsty drama and more with common sense and maturity and put in a realistic light. I loved Charli and how comfortable she was in her own skin and loved what she loved. This book was a fun and quick read. I did feel as if there was something missing from the story, what I still can name so I’m chalking it up to it just being a me thing (hence the 3.5 rating but rounding up to 4), but overall if you love the opposites attract trope and likes things on the sweeter side of the spectrum then you most definitely need to give this one a go! |
Maya Goodwin rushes into life headfirst. No matter what she does, she does it with all her heart. It has gotten her in trouble including one where she got trapped inside a burning car. It was that incident that sent her to desk duty. Now she runs a center teaching martial arts through the lens of superheros. It's that center that sends Dr. Alex Nolan to Zoe. Alex has only just discovered that he fathered a child almost ten years ago during a drunken one-night stand. He might never have found out except that Charli (his daughter) is a hemophiliac and that happens to be Alex's specialty. So he's trying to find a way to connect and wants to do it through her favorite, very geeky, TV show. This is a lovely story where both characters show some growth and we get to seem them help each other. For the most part, they were adult about the whole thing and while there was a misunderstanding at the end, it didn't seem like a Big Misunderstanding. I didn't love everything about their relationship but Nicholas creates a nice story of two people coming together and I can't wait to hear more about costume designer, Sophie. Possibly with Maya's sparring partner Ben but I would also be okay with him getting his own book. A tough guy sidelined from his favorite activities? I hope that there is more to that story than just as a plot point for an Alex breakthrough. Four stars This book comes out March 28 |
