I have loved the KGI series from page one, and the Kelly clan has produced some impressive heroes. Joe was a little lackluster for me in this one. I understand the whole love at first sight, recognizing your soulmate thing, and that part was believable. I thought Joe's turn from consummate bachelor to completely focused on and dedicated to Zoe was believable as well. I'm not sure if it was Zoe that turned me off a bit but I just didn't love Joe with her.
As with all of the KGI stories, this one has a tragic past catching up with someone. Rusty Kelly brings her friend "Zoe" to the KGI compound because she needs somewhere to be safe. Running from an uncaring father and a murderous ex, Zoe has nowhere to go and no one to trust other than Rusty. She fears bringing danger to anyone she cares about, but Rusty swears Zoe will be safe with her. What Zoe doesn't count on is meeting and falling for the youngest Kelly brother.
Joe has his work cut out for him. The minute he sees Zoe, he recognizes the woman of his heart, but she is so beaten down she can't see her own worth. He wishes she could see herself the way he sees her, but all she focuses on is the fact that everyone in her entire life has thrown her away. When the threat to Zoe's life becomes reality, Joe rallies the KGI clan to get her back and claim her for his own.
This was a good story, but it seemed to lack some of the substance and intensity of the other books in the series. I thought Maya Banks did a terrific job of setting up Rusty and Sean's story, though, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing how she gives them a happy ever after.

Zoe is on the run with her best friend, Rusty Kelly. She's changed her name and her looks but needs a safe place to hide from her past. Rusty takes her home to the KGI compound where the Kelly family and friends live and work. Former military, the men and women of KGI do jobs that few others can do helping people in high risk situations, such as kidnappings. Joe is the last unmarried Kelly brother and when he takes one look at Zoe he knows how is brothers felt when they described finding the "one", Lots of action and romance!
