A pleasing example of a well-plotted story in this growing genre. Description and dialogue is vivid and characters are likeable.
I really didn't get on with this book, despite several attempts. The writing didn't engage me and neither did the plot. Sorry.
I can't put this book into any one category, it defies them all. What can I say about a museum curator that finds a map describing a 19th century utopia and then pitched head first into the research that will help her find, not only the lost world, but also the help she needs straightening of her own chaotic life? I can say I loved it and that the librarian/researcher in me found a kindred spirit in Stella
This book has an interesting premise involving an art museum, a mysterious text, a fairly sassy narrator, and more, but the plot weakens at the expense of the sassy narrator's overlong digressions and observations. In the end, I couldn't get past her voice, even though I found the intricacies of the plot impressive.
