I started reading this book & put it down, thinking I would garner interest later. I always try to finish a book, regardless if it interests me. Never happened. I did pick it up a few more times, but just couldn't get into it. |
The author introduced new characters without telling what or who they are to the main character. I still don't know how Julia met Johnny, Beth and Janie. I got Sam though but barely! Next gawking another guy in front of your present guy is weird. From the ambiguity in this novel, I got one fact straight that Johnny and Julia were in an on off relationship. And the second time Luke meets Julia, Luke is not talking to Julia but Luke's bodyguard Jason is?? He's supposed to remain discrete and professional. And you can't be surprised if a guy makes billion dollar business decisions and hear he has a jet! I didn't feel any emotional connection with Julia and sometimes I felt like I didn't know some of the characters as there had been no character building for them. The novel had typos which were annoying. Overall the was a story in that made me move forward to complete the book but it was barely there. But surprisingly I did complete the novel but this book could have been so such more. Also the ending was abrupt too abrupt. |
I DNF this book... I can't. I made it to 50% and am applauding myself for this effort. The writing is lacking. It's very mundane and lacking in creative sentences and terminology. This book started out super awesome, IVF and infertility is a topic that interests me greatly, but the plot never thickened, so to speak. I was under the impression this was a mystery/thriller, but the only mystery I could deduce was why I was still turning pages. The content was hard to follow as well. One minute Julia is talking to Jason about Pearls, and then her lab, and then Luke, and back to the lab... all in just a few paragraphs. I wouldn't wish this book on my worst enemy |
Fireworks and fertility had an interesting concept. The characters were well written. I think I would recommend it. |

This was a great read. You get romance and suspense. Great debut! |

Rambling storyline. Characters are too shallow so no empathy is built up. Often confused as to who is who. And the main plot of the book is only revealed in the last few pages. Needs a major overhaul if this book is to be successful. Less technical medical details and more of a storyline would be advisable. |
