After being dumped on what was suppose to be her wedding day by her cheating ex, Carrie Morgan decides to pull herself up and show the world she's over it. Honeymoon tickets in hand she's off to Hawaii. Couple of problems though. Her overprotective brother has sent his best friend Blake Harris to keep an eye on her. Second problem - her ex decided to come as well. Things prove real interesting when Carrie persuades Blake to play along and fake being together to get back at her ex.

While the overall story was slightly predictable, I did find it very enjoyable. Blake was such a great guy and while he was trying to be good and stay loyal to his friend, Carrie was tempting him all along the way. The ex was just a douche and she should have been happy to be rid of him. The characters definitely made the story great. I would recommend this one.

Carrie and Blake are two people who want completely different things. Carrie wants love, marriage, kids, and Blake is happy in his single life.
What will happen when the lines to their fake relation start getting blurry ?
Fake engagement, real temptation was a sexy and steamy read. Blake as an alpha hero and Carrie with her sass made it an enjoyable read.

carrie and blake have known each other forever. blake is carrie's brother's best friend. and when carrie decides to go on her honeymoon by herself after being stood up at the altar, blake can't stop himself from tagging along. after all he's been charged to protect carrie, and an all-inclusive resort in hawaii is dangerous? okay, so the set-up here doesn't necessarily track, but who cares? fake engagement, real temptation is a classic category romance, with all the tropes in place and they work beautifully. i mean, i've said before how i love the fake relationship trope. it works for me.

blake and carrie don't start the trip with the intentions of faking a romance. but when the fake romance leads to a first class upgrade, and then later when it leads to one-upping the jerk ex-fiancé, it's all in good fun. except things get heated pretty quickly. and as always sex complicates matters. especially since carrie is dying for love and marriage and the baby carriage, while blake is running scared from anything like responsibility for others that could lead to heartbreak.

he's messed up because his mom died of cancer while he was young after his father abandoned the family. he irrationally feels like he failed her because he couldn't fix the problem back then, so that he lives his life in such a way that he runs toward every danger so that he can be the hero, except in his relationships where he runs away from real intimacy.

this is the real conflict in the novel, and blake needs to get over his hang-ups in order to fight for the connection that he and carrie share. because what they do share couldn't be less fake. and even though there are some super over-the-top public declarations that make me want to die of embarassment on the characters' behalf, it is super romantic and totally dreamy how these two end up together. definitely a total call back to the wedding singer.

This is my first book by this author, and I struggled to finish it. Spoilers in this review.

Carrie was left two days before her wedding day by her cheating fiancé, Kevin. They hadn’t had sex in a year and spent hardly any time together. And you had no clue? Really? Or you were so desperate to get married you looked past it all? Just didn’t work for me.

Blake is her brother Lane’s best friend since they were kids. Blake was raised by a single mom. She died from cancer when he was a teen and he felt like he’d failed her. He’s built a life and business where he is constantly traveling, never setting down roots of any kind, or getting close to anyone, because he isn’t willing to risk losing them.

Carrie has blockaded herself in the honeymoon suite, refusing to see anyone or answer her phone or texts. Blake is sent in with a room key to check on her. He finds her drunk, exercising in a tank top and panties. He convinces her to go on her honeymoon anyway. When Lane can’t go to “protect” her from further harm, Blake agrees to go. Once they get there, shocker, they discover Kevin is there with his girlfriend, Wendy. And they have adjoining bungalows! What are the odds?! So, Carrie and Blake cook up this fake relationship to show Kevin he hasn’t destroyed her.

Kevin and Wendy show up A LOT. Kevin is a total narcissist, taking jabs at Carrie constantly. Kevin is a real tool and I intensely disliked his character. Blake waffled in his attitude to the point of irritation. He couldn’t stand to see the pain in her eyes; he’d do anything to take it away. Oh wait, this isn’t real, Carrie knows things stop when they leave the island, right?

I rolled my eyes and said are you kidding me out loud so many times throughout this book I lost count.

This book was highly predictable and only a normal amount hot. I always have high hot expectations with this "brand" of books but this one just kind of fell short for me. The chemistry for the characters felt forced. Only a 2-1/2 star book from me.

This one surprised me. I thought it might be a little boring, but actually I really enjoyed it. Sometimes when things are just written out obviously you tend to be like ehh, but I liked the characters. They weren't boring and kept my attention. I've read Joya Ryan before and liked her stories. A few of them are repeat reads for me. This one will get added to the category. Only thing I was slightly bummed about was an epilogue. I need more. I like a future or a little more than what I got!

What was not to love about this book! It had everything I want in a book, great characters, great story, and great, steamy romance. Carrie was just left days before her wedding. Her brother's best friend, Blake, convinces her to go on her honeymoon anyway then tags along to keep her "safe". He tells her to enjoy the fantasy of what she wanted her honeymoon to be. But all that changes when they find out that her ex-fiance has brought his new lady to the same honeymoon location. Blake and Carrie decide to act as a couple in front of her ex and his new girl. But this starts to backfire when it starts to feel oh too real.

After finding out her relationship was a sham, and her fiance had been cheating on her for over a year, Carrie Morgan decided to put the brakes on her wedding and skip out of town and go on their honeymoon without him. She figures the sun, sand, and long break away from it all will be the perfect way to get over him, and discover the woman she wants to be... but her little plan comes to a screeching halt when she bumps into her ex and his mistress at the resort. The cheating bastard is there to celebrate his new beginning and rub her nose in it... only she has a plan of her own, one that involves her brothers sexy best friend!!

When Blake Harris sees the hurt on Carrie's face he can't help but get involved, her worthless ex-fiance broke her heart and she has a plan to get over him, one that could be a little dangerous facing on her own, so he insists on tagging along to keep her safe. But once they are at the resort, and discover her ex is there to flaunt his knew beginning in their face, he decides Carrie's plan may need a little tweaking. He's sure his new plan will fix everything for Carrie, but after spending a day with her he realizes he may have gotten in way over his head...

Nobody does romance quite like Ms. Ryan, she has this special way of creating stories that not only speak to the hearts of her readers, but also inspire them to embrace their fantasies... and this one is the perfect example of that, and definitely one of her best to date. Carrie and Blake's story captivated my attention from the first page, and had me on the edge of my seat right up and until the last. It was brimming with passion, heartfelt emotion, and a smoldering heat that had me feeling the flames throughout. If you like your fairy tales filled with intense heat, heartfelt emotion, and equipped with a smoking hot alpha determined to fulfill your every desire, then I HIGHLY suggest you acquaint yourself Mr. Blake Harris... he's sure to leave you satisfied!

Dumped before the wedding; but this one has the Joya Ryan twist and that makes it interesting, steamy and at one point had me yelling at my kindle.!!! I happen to like Joya Ryan, she writes a great story.

Meet Carrie, whose hub to be told her two days before the wedding they were a no go. Carrie is holed up in their honeymoon suite and refuses to see anyone. Her brother Lane sends his best friend Blake to check on her. The three of them grew up together. Blake's Mom died when he was young so he became part of their family. Carrie was always the little sister. Carrie isn't answering the door to her hotel room so he lets himself in, only to find her, what was to be the honeymoon suite, and her dancing in the bedroom in her panties and tank top. Blake being the level headed nice guy he is, takes the bottle of Jack from her and talks to her. Blake runs his own outdoor adventure business. He does extremely well with it. He wants no part of a family, wife, kids or anything that resembles that. He lost once, he's not risking it again. He talks Carrie into going on her honeymoon anyway since it's all paid for and it's her dream adventure blah blah blah... she decides to go. Meanwhile Blake decides she can't go alone, lest someone take advantage of her in her vulnerable state, mind you she's 26 and hasn't had sex in a year.... someone should take advantage of that... I digress. Lane can't go, so Blake agrees to go. Carrie isn't happy about it. She doesn't want a babysitter.

When they get to Hawaii who should appear but her ex with his new side piece. So Blake comes up with a plan and Carrie agrees that they'll have a fake relationship and while it starts out a tad slow it gets hot and heavy quickly. Her ex is around much to often for my liking along with his bitshy side piece and it ruined the story a bit for me. What really kind of trashed my whole view of him was Blake. Here was this stand up guy, who was mature, protective and all these things and the next thing he was falling into making up these fake schemes like an adolescent. That bit with him lowered my view of him. Even when things got seriously steamy between he and Carrie, he'd bring up their "fake" relationship at the oddest times. He gave me whiplash, while Carrie stayed consistent in her character. I really liked Carrie, for all she'd been through and despite her obvious insecurity and pain she held it together and she also took what she wanted. And she was honest about it. Don't get me wrong, Blake isn't a bad guy, he's got a whole lot in the plus column and he's hot as hell. But the behavior just didn't fit his character.

That said, I still liked the book, with reservations. It didn't hold my interest like her other books have. It also felt rushed in places especially the ending. There are things I would have maybe liked a little different, like the two couples not sharing adjoining bungalows. Their all too frequent encounters. And Blake. I'm giving the book a 3.5 mainly because of Carrie.
