Waking up after a night of partying at your brother wedding and who is in the bed next to you? Oh that’s just your brother’s hot best friend that you spent the night flirting with.

I have this one to about 45% when I just couldn't make myself read it anymore. Linc and Joya... I just never felt any connection with either of them. I didn't really care what or how anything happened with them. Their whole relationship just seemed odd. She fights so hard against herself to say no, then bam just caves so easily. This one just held no appeal for me. DNF.

This wedding hangover walk of shame is like no other. OMG I could not put this book down. The friends to lovers story is one of the best I've read in a long time. Intense chemistry, witty banter, a few loveable pets and a plot that moves along at a fast pace.

One-click this now! I can't wait to dive into Boone Brux's backlist!

This was just a fun read- one that makes a bad week better. Properly Groomed is the 3rd book in the Wedding Favors series but can be read as a stand alone.

The author writes a lighthearted story that just makes you smile. And there is some sexy time which makes the book even more entertaining.

I am looking forward to reading the other 2 books in the series!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I've got to admit that I had a lot of fun reading this book. I mean, who doesn't love the forbidden brother's best friend angle? Anyhoo, it was a great light-hearted romance with just the right amount of heat to keep it interesting. Now despite the fact that their relationship developed at mock-speed after years of denial from both sides, I'll admit that their relationship entirely worked for me. Sure I would have loved a bit more development there at the end, but I'll still admit that enjoyed it. I think the only thing that I didn't like was the name Joya, I kept changing it to Georgia in my head, but other than that this book was an all-around entertaining read I think most will enjoy.

I have to say Boone Brux rocked this book between Joya and Lincoln. The attraction they have is something they have to decide to get into or loose the friendship they have had all these years. Boone Brux didn`t make it easy between these two and loved that in so many ways they completed each other so in sync together. This is one you don`t want to miss or the whole series. Loved it.

It is a rare occasion when a book that Entangled Publishing has put out doesn't knock my socks off. Unfortunately, this is one of those times.

I think that the big take-away that I had with this one was the fact that I was able to put it down. It just didn't hold my attention and make me feel like I was losing a part of myself when I had to put this book down.

I really didn't connect with any of the characters. They were okay ... but not one of them was one that I thought about after the pages were closed. To be honest, I finished this one a while ago and when I got it back out to write this review, I couldn't remember even one quality about any of the characters. Actually, I couldn't even remember what their names were. That's not a good sign.

The meat of the story was just okay as well. Nothing that stuck out as funny or sweet or memorable. It was just okay. The pace of the book was fine but it felt stale. The romance was lacking something - excitement. I didn't get those butterflies when Lincoln and Joya were together, I didn't get that palpable chemistry that I love so much when reading.

All of these issues might be because I haven't read the other two books in the series. Absolutely. Maybe that is what was wrong with this reading experience. It could very well be the disconnect that I felt.

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be picking up another book from this author. This one just wasn't for me.

* I received this novel in exchange for an honest review *

Title:  Properly Groomed
Series:  Wedding Favors Book #3
Author:  Boone Brux
Genre:  Romance, Contemporary
Blurb:   When Joya Bennett wakes up after her brother’s wedding, half-naked and lying next to her lifelong crush, she’s mortified. OMG, did she try to jump his bones? Worse, did she succeed? Intending to lay low and housesit for her brother until the embarrassment fades, she sneaks away before he wakes up.
What she didn’t plan on is having company.
Lincoln Fisher doesn’t do relationships, but if he did, his friend’s little sister would be the one to tie him down. Good thing Joya had one too many drinks during the reception or he’d have crossed a line. Her brother would kill him if he found out all the places Linc wanted to kiss the sexy, auburn-haired beauty.
And now they’re stuck in the same house. For two weeks.
She’s off-limits. And he needs to keep it that way, even if the heat building between them is hot enough to blow off the roof…
Thoughts: Honestly, this is a really good friends-to-lovers book in which both Joya and Lincoln have been crushing on each other for years. Unfortunately, things between them are complicated – Joya is the ‘best friend’s little sis’, and Lincoln is the ‘best friend’s older brother’. My main complaint – Lincoln was into Joya, he kind of manipulated events a little bit so that they would be stuck in close contact for the duration of the two weeks…yet on the other hand he had a almost careless attitude about it that just left me feeling a little distanced from the story. If there had a been a bit more connection on his part and fascination with Joya then I would have just loved it that much more. Other than that, I would rate this one a little high on my choices for a friends-to-lovers book…
Rate:  B+

Cute, fun read.
Short and sweet. Being a novella, everything happens rather quickly, but you're not left with unanswered questions. The characters are flirty and well thought out.
This was my first read from this author. I'd be interested in reading more of her work.

Joya woke up and everything hurt from too many cosmopolitans the night before at her brother and good friends Rory’s wedding. Joya Joya had been a bridesmaid and the thundering headache and awful thirst was her punishment fro over indulging. But unfortunately Joya had to get up and could not just sleep her hangover away. Then she realized there was a naked man in bed with her. Joya then realized who it was by his tan skin and muscled back. I t was Lincoln/Linc her brother’s best friend she had raging lust for this man for a long time Yet she thought she showed the world she could care less about her brother’s friend Linc. Joya still had her bra and underwear on but couldn’t remember if anything had happened. She was also in Linc’s suite and she hurriedly left to go back to her own room. Linc then opened his eyes once Joya had left. Linc wasn’t surprised Joya had left but he had hoped that they would have finished what they had started last night. Joya had been too drunk and Linc would not take advantage of her. But Linc would never just think of Joya as Kyle’s little sister ever again or almost like just one of the guys as last night Joya had become a beautiful woman to Linc. Linc had almost got to the point of no return but had had somehow managed to stop. Linc had started to think about a future as an adult not just a bachelor. Linc had even sold his bachelor condo and was staying at Kyle’s until he found a house to buy. Also staying at Kyle's he could stay away from the enticing Joya or so Linc thought. But Joya was also staying at the house to take care of her friend and sister in law’s four foot lizard that Rory had been raising and taking care of since Rory was ten. Maybe Linc and Koya wouldn’t see much of each other….
I absolutely adored this story. It was a fast and just sweet read also a romantic love story. I loved how joya thought no one knew how she had crushed on Linc for a long time but others did see it. I also liked the fact Linc was already thinking of settling down before he ever slept with Joya and started to care. I also loved how Rory had meddled in her friends lives and decided to set them up into couples and it eventually worked for the couples including Linc and Joya. i loved the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I highly recommend.

Properly Groomed was a light, easy, sweet read that honestly didn’t have any drama. It was just a story about two people who were attracted to each other, stuck sharing a house together for a couple of weeks, who end up testing the waters to see where their attraction leads them. It was really cute watching Linc make Joya breakfast after she came home from a long night at work, or when he showed up to her work with a package of food from one of his restaurants so that she would have something to eat while working at the studio. Needless to say, I thought these two were adorable.

One thing I liked and kind of wished we had more of was some behind-the-scenes of Joya and Linc’s job. Joya is a producer for the local news and while we get to follow her in the office, we only see her gabbing with her friend or arguing with her co-worker, we didn’t really get a lot of behind-the-scenes. As for Linc, we got nothing. He owns restaurants and is always taking off in the book to go to work but we never get a chance to follow him there even though the book is partially in his POV. I would have liked a little bit of their personal stories mixed in instead of it just being the two of them cooped up in the house together.

I also really wish there was more time with Dash, the iguana. I know that’s a weird thing to say but I mean, most romances include a dog or cat for comedic relief or whatnot, and while there is a dog in this story, I was hoping Dash would get some spotlight too. However, we see more of the dog than the iguana. Heck, I kept forgetting he was even in the house except for those few times he was brought up. Actually there was that one time where I had completely forgotten who Dash was. Like I said, I know it’s weird to be sad to not get more lizard time in a romance novel but I love iguanas and was really hoping for some awesome scenes with Dash. Like, maybe Dash escapes his tank and Linc wakes up to a four foot iguana at the end of his bed or something. I don’t know but poor Dash got the shaft in this one.

Properly Groomed is a quick romance novel that is perfect for anyone looking for a light read. It had no drama, some light comedy, and the brother’s best friend love trope.

Properly Groomed Was a light quick read.A love story Between Joya and her brother best friend Lincoln. I like it that it easy with interesting plot and interesting characters with some steamy scenes. Both Joya and Linc are likable and easy to love. Their love story begins at Joya’s brother wedding and ends with them living together for two weeks. Two very hot weeks.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

3.5 “Best friends, new house and cute animal” Stars

ARC via NetGalley.

Thank you, Entangled!!

This is my first book by Boone Brux and somehow it's the middle of one of her series. I don't think I realized I was requesting the third book in the Wedding Favors series, but I'm glad I did it anyway.

Properly Groomed's first chapter left me wondering for a few minutes if I'd be able to follow the story as I had not read the first two books, but that feeling was quickly pushed away as I kept reading.

This is the sweet, cute and sexy story of Joya, who's a bridesmate at her brother's wedding and a woman in love with his best friend. She's been into Linc for ages, but she never made a move, partially because Linc was her older brother's friend and partly because Linc was known for not wanting a serious relationship. Somehow, though (and I mean somehow because we don't get to see how they got there in this book), Joya wakes up the day after her brother's wedding half-naked and in bed with Linc. Talk about awkward.

Joya flees the scene, but the next day she finds herself face to face with Linc again. He's going to be spending some time at her brother's place since he's just sold his old place and is looking for a new house now. The thing is, Joya has also agreed to stay at the house to take care of her sister-in-law's pet (an iguana). There'll be no escaping Linc after that.

Not that he wants her to escape him, either. Not now that he has finally looked at his friend's little sister and seen the woman she has become. A woman he's much too interested in getting to know better. A lot better.

Look, once I got past the confusion with being thrown into the story as it seemed to have already started (with Joya and Linc in bed), things progressed just about the way I wanted. Linc made it impossible for Joya to resist him by being super sexy and sweet. As a restaurant owner, he even cooked for her multiple times. A man after my heart!

Joya didn't try to resist him all that much, either, which made sense considering she had a thing for him already. Not that she could resist a man that cooked for her shirtless. I mean, who would?

Together, Joya and Linc had a lot of chemistry. Their scenes went from hot to sweet back to hot. Just the way I like it. The fact that Joya and Linc knew each other for a while made progressing from friends to lovers a little smoother. I still wished the whole falling in love thing had been a tiny less insta, but, again, the "being friends for years" was a good way out.

With the help of Linc's dog and his seating-on-people's-foot obsession, the story was even cuter. The iguana also helped with that job. I love when the author can fit pets into a love story. It's always a plus for me.

The only reason I didn't rate this higher was because of the subplot involving Joya's job. I didn't exactly agree with her decisions involving her job, and I didn't even understand her reasons until much later on, when she finally talked to Linc and explained why she did what she did. Even then, I'm not sure she made the right call. It just made me feel slightly uncomfortable to see a woman make a decision like that, especially when she hadn't even talked about their relationship prior to making that call.

Other than that, the rest of the story really worked, especially the dynamic between the two main characters. I also loved the interaction between Joya, Linc and the rest of their friends. Too bad we didn't get to see it until much later on. Either way, I read the last couple of chapters with a big smile on my face. It was that adorable.

Properly Groomed was a quick, sexy and sweet read that introduced me to a new author and made me want to read more books in that series. I bet you'll feel the same way if you give this book a chance, too.

One of the things I love about series like these is you don't have to read the previous books. Each one can be read as a stand alone.

I honestly love stories where you crush on your sibling's friend. It adds a forbidden element because you're pretty sure your sibling isn't going to react well to the fact that you like their friend. My one pet peeve is that the friend doesn't notice you until you've grown up, while you've been pining over them for years.

Linc and Joya are freaking awesome when they're forced to stay in the same place while Joya's brother and wife are on their honeymoon. I love that Linc teases her, and she teases back some of the time. Mostly she's just kind of freaked out that Linc is showing an interest in her. Both of them have careers that could potentially decrease the time they can see each other.

The sex scenes are HOT! I love the chemistry between the two and the emotion even when they kind of try to deny that there are feelings involved.

Overall, I enjoyed this story. The opening chapter is awesome and makes you want to turn the page to find out how they are going to get over the awkward. It's a quick read and can easily be read in a few hours.

A fun and tender romance worth every minute of reading. "Properly Groomed" is a stand alone novel in Boone Brux's Wedding Favors series. I hadn't read the previous books in the series and I had not a moment of confusion. The hero, Linc, is a womanizer who is feeling the desire to settle down. Unfortunately the woman he wants is his best friend's little sister. The hero is an extremely likeable man. The book isn't really long enough for him to really stretch his Alpha muscles but he's hot, can cook, and has a rescue dog. The trifecta. If he spoke Italian he'd be unstoppable. The heroine, Joya, is feisty and independent. She wants to protect herself from a broken heart but she's secretly been in love with Linc for years. The premise is cute, the storyline is engaging, characters are charming, and the pace moves along nicely.
Boone Brux's "Properly Groomed" is a sexy, fun, and delightful read. Joya and Linc are a fabulous hero and heroine. The premise, of the couple believing there isn't any option other than both house-sitting together isn't too contrived. The timeline from playful teasing to lusty sex is logical and entertaining to read. Both Joya and Linc undergo character growth in this short novel which is impressive. The resolution is extremely satisfying for the Happily Ever After. The sex scenes are racy and steamy. As they should be. And as I've said before Linc and Joya are incredibly likable and charismatic characters. The dog Chester is adorable. "Properly Groomed" is a stand alone novel. You need not have read the preceding books in the series to enjoy it. However, I really want to go back and read the books that I missed. This book was a pleasure to devour.

It was a really cute story. Lincoln and Joya were perfect for each other, the chemistry was great. Joya has always had a crush on Lincoln, her brothers best friend, but he was a commitment Phobe. Until Joya that he, he simply could not get her out of his mind. While both of them were house sitting, they fell in love, or he did, she always loved him. It was nice to read about them giving each other a chance and ending up together.
