Hunter Cross does not mind that he still lives in the same small town he grew up in and is working on the family farm. He actually enjoys it all, all that is except for the arguing between his two brothers. Thinking that was the worst of his worries was okay with him. That is until he hurt the shoulder he tore up in high school. After seeing the doctor she tells him he needs physical therapy and that she has just hired someone new. That person is the last person he thought he would ever see again, especially in this small town. Emmerson Montgomery has left her job as a physical therapist with a pro football team, and also left the person she was dating. No one knows the reason why she is back in town and she has not even gone home to see her parents. The last person she figured on walking into her room was her high school boyfriend and the guy she left behind but always wondered what his life must be like. She figured he was married and with kids, but know he still has not gotten over the one girl, now a woman who has his heart. Her, now looking at each other they must work to get his shoulder back together because harvesting is not too far off. The more they work together they end up spending more, and more time together and she realizes that she actually missed the time when she would go out with him to his families ranch. She even helps them build a web page and helps with treatment for their grandfather, but still won’t see her parents. When it slips out why she has come back he is wondering why she does not seek out her parents for help and then things become strained between the two of them because she will not see, or talk to him. Hunter goes on hurting but knows what happened was for the best and still is waiting for her to see how much he loves her. Will she figure it out? Read this wonderful story to find out. Excellent book with good characters. I got this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com |
Second Chances First book I've read from this author and I LOVED it When Hunter has re injures his shoulder he is in need of therapy. Emerson is a PhD physical therapist returns to the small hometown she left 12 years ago. Emerson and Hunter share a past as high school sweethearts. Things are revealed causing understanding to occur |
Kimberly Kincaid's Crossing Hearts, the first in her new Cross Creek series, was a heartwarming, emotional second chance romance. I fell in love with Hunter and Emerson from the moment I met them. I loved how down to earth Hunter was. Family will always come first for Hunter, whether it is playing referee between his two brothers, caring for his stubborn father, or keeping the family farm successful. So when Emerson comes back into his life and his love for her comes rushing back, it's no surprise that his instinct is to help her. Unfortunately for him, Emerson doesn't want help. She doesn't want her diagnosis to run her life and she's determined to hide it from those that matter most. While I admired her tenaciousness, I had a difficult time with her refusing to let anyone know about her illness. I felt that she could still be strong and independent regardless of who knows. I wish she had realized that before it became too late and it started to push everyone away. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Crossing Hearts. As my first Kimberly Kincaid book, it was a good introduction to her writing style and voice. It got me wanting to try more and I'm especially looking forward to the next book in the Cross Creek series. |

Every time I start a book by this author, I know I am in for a treat. I loved Hunter and Emerson's story! It sucked me in and had me hooked until the end. Absolutely loved it, and I definitely recommend it! |
CROSSING HEARTS begins Kimberly Kincaid's new series about three brothers who work together along with their father to run the family farm, Cross Creek. Crossing Hearts is the middle brother, Hunter's story, and is all about the second chance he has with the woman he gave his heart to back in high school, Emerson Montgomery. Ms Kincaid tells this sweet love story in a way that reminds me of a Hallmark movie... well, the R-rated version, because there are some steamy parts. Even so, it's more about the small town feel, the slow pace and southern charm that makes you want to sit back and enjoy the whole story because you just know the ending is going to make your heart just sigh. There's quite a bit of drama to get through, before these two find their way to admitting they are in love, that they've always loved each other, but the HEA makes for a glorious ending. 3.5 stars ~All opinions expressed in this review are my own. |
Could not put it down, another absolutely riveting read from Kimberly Kincaid! |

I always know that any book by Ms. Kincaid is going to be fantastic but Crossing Hearts is straight out amazing. I can not even describe how much I loved this book. Emerson and Hunter were high school sweethearts. Hunter even proposed after graduation but Emerson turned him down and left town soon after. Hunter has spent the last 12 years working on his family's farm and trying to forget Emerson. Emerson went to college, became a physical therapist for a football team and dated famous football players. But now she is back in town, the last place she ever thought to find herself and sets up a small therapy practice. Emerson and Hunter find themselves thrown together time after time and the old feelings resurface. Hunter is afraid to trust again and Emerson is holding onto to some big secrets. I loved Hunter. Honestly, he is perfect. I really liked Emerson-she was determined to live on her own terms but she wow was she stubborn! The secondary characters are very interesting and I look forward to reading more about Hunter's brothers!! Highly recommended!! |
Hunter Cross is as country as they come. Happy with his life as a farmer, he always saw his future carrying out his legacy on his family's farm. Alongside his two brothers and father, Hunter is happy caring for the land he grew up in. Until an accident sidelines him and brings him face to face with the woman who broke his heart and left him twelve years before. Emerson Montgomery loved Hunter when they were kids and could still see the man she fell for in his pained features. Healing him might be her job as his physical therapist, but keeping things professional might be impossible when she clearly still cares for him. She had to leave town twelve years ago. Breaking up with him was the only way to do it. Now, she is back and her secrets are even more complicated then before. But the more time they spend together the closer Emerson gets to falling in love with him all over again. Loving Emerson was never a question in Hunter's mind. Keeping her was. He knows she is hiding something from him, but in time he will find out what it is. The one thing he knows for sure, is this time he isn’t letting her go. Crossing Hearts is a second chance romance that brings back together high-school sweethearts and the chance of HEA. With many challenges and the gossip of a small town, Hunter and Emerson find their way back to each other and the love that has never left them. |
Another great read from Kimberly Kincaid! This time focused on a small town, family farmer and the girl that got away. When Emerson Montgomery comes home after more than a decade she's doing it for a fresh start and a slower pace following the news she has a chronic illness. Starting a new physical therapy practice, no one is more surprised when her first client is none other than Hunter Cross. Hunter is stunned to see Emerson again. As these two dance around old and new feelings, there is also the realities of Emerson's health and the fact that she doesn't want anyone to know. In order to keep her head up, eyes forward motto Emerson will have to confront her fears too. I loved the story and characters Kimberly has created in this new series! She did a great job of weaving the past into the story so you got Hunter and Emerson's story. The chemistry and interactions with both friends and family were the perfect balance as well. Can't wait to see what's next amongst the Cross family. |

This was the first book I've read from this author and I really enjoyed it. I am a sucker for second chance romances and this book had a bit of everything I like. Hunter is a hardworking guy devoted to his family. He injures his shoulder and needs physical therapy. Emerson is his physical therapist and his high school sweetheart. Emerson is also keeping a secret that will affect her whole life. This is an emotional story that I really enjoyed. I look forward to reading the next in the series. ARC provided by the publisher via NetGalley. |
I enjoyed this tender contemporary romance that tells the story of former sweethearts Hunter Cross and Emerson Montgomery. When Emerson returns to their hometown after years away and a successful career, she is harboring some life changing secrets. As she becomes reacquainted with Hunter Cross and finds that there are still deep feelings for him, she has to decide if she has the courage to share her secrets with him. Good characters, different type of baggage for the main character, and an interesting setting made me really enjoy this one! |
I loved it, I really enjoyed the storyline and characters can't wait to see what comes next from the author! |

I really enjoyed this story very much . . . but there were two things that were a deal breaker for me. They were the constant peppering of f-bombs and pages and pages it took to describe every detail of the sex scenes. Both were distractions and took away from the story. Emerson Montgomery and Hunter Cross had been high school sweethearts and when Hunter proposed to Emerson and she ran away to college, his heart was broken and twelve years later it still hurt. Emerson had her reasons for leaving and she felt she couldn't share them with Hunter because she loved him too much. Now Hunter had a shoulder injury and the only physical therapist in town is Emerson Montgomery who had just moved back to town and was trying to get her PT practice started. Over the four weeks of his physical therapy, they talked and shared and remembered how much they loved each other but was Emerson's secret at her health going to be the final nail in the coffin of their rekindled relationship? You'll have to read to find out. I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. |
This was an adorable introduction to a heartwarming series, that I truly and deeply enjoyed. I loved the connection that the main characters had, even if they were trying to deny it. Second chance novels don't always work out well, but in the case of Crossing Hearts, it was perfectly executed and believable. I can understand the main characters need for independence, but I also understand how she had to learn to rely on the help of other, and let go off some of the misconceptions she had off those around her. Very enjoyable read! |

Crossing Hearts is a second chance and sports romance that pairs a physical therapist with an injured athlete. Emerson and Hunter were high school sweet hearts that grew apart. Twelve years pass and both end up in their hometown. Hunter is recovering from a football injury and she is the only physical therapist in town. Their relationship evolves naturally and soon you will find yourself drawn into a great story. How will Hunter react when he learns Emerson's big secret... Read this book to find out.
