hate to love... working to get back and be the couple they never were

I'm a sucker for second chance romance books and this being a billionaire one I was giddy.

The story is told from dual pov, Alma (ex wife) and Harvey. I will admit I was not a huge fan of Alma. I could not connect with her character and I felt she was really immature. Her actions towards Harvey made me wish he found someone else.

They're divorced, he's a self made billionaire and she the eccentric ex wife on the hunt for some Tiffany windows. He owns the building where these "windows" are at so there are some interactions. I loved the way Harvey spoke and thought of her. His love for Alma was still palpable, I just don't think she deserved it.

I struggled with the reason they end up together at the end, definitely no the reason why they should have gotten back together. Loved Harvey as a main character and hero!

Will say I enjoyed Ms. Hawthorne's writing style and the vivid and clear descriptions of Chicago!

This is the second book in the author series and I found this one to be just as entertaining as the first. The book opens with the two lead characters texting one another. Harvey Zale is a self-made blue collar billionaire who wants to build two giant towers in Singapore. This part of the is a carryover from the first part. Alma Castillo is an expert in glass and antiques. When Harvey is getting ready to knock down an old building along the Chicago River she is called in because of the old windows appear to be stained glass and there is a question of maybe they are made by Tiffany. This is when you still see the passion they have for one another even though it is put into arguing. Harvey is still in love with her and throughout the story begins to talk to older men who have been married for over twenty years in how they make it work. This for me is where the story changes because Harvey decides to change. Yes it turns out they are actually texting each other but even when they get past that they both share a part of themselves that they hadn’t done when they were married. For me the best part of the story is when they find what she has been looking for in the hospital and the way Harvey is quiet and lets her enjoy the moment. That is growth for him and their relationship. Yes their some very hot sex scenes, but this story is more than just two people getting back together. It is about them finally becoming one as a couple. A very good story.

This is my first book by this author and I have to say that I very much enjoyed it. The banter between Harvey and Alma was fun, witty, and silly! I love Harvey's devotion to Alma even though they were divorced. Overall a great book.

I chose this book, because I needed to read something funny, full of romance, not a downer, and most of all has substance. Lately, all the books in the contemporary romance section that's up in my list are either the leading man has some mental issues/ psychopath or the woman got involved into some kind of trouble that she got kidnapped or someone is running after her.

Anyway, I need a break from those romance books, and then I found this on Netgalley (an ARC was granted by the Author for an honest review). I got immediately got hooked and couldn't put my iPad down (that I got dark circles around my eyes now). This is the story of Harvey (the billionaire real estate tycoon) and Alma, his ex-wife (antiques expert, specifically Louis Comfort Tiffany glass art works). I am not going to give any spoilers.

This book is about 2nd chances, never giving up, and hot romance with a little twist of mystery. It is a perfect book for someone who wants to be in love and in an adventure at the same time. I'm hoping to read more of this author's books in the future.

This book was something that I could not put down! Billionaire architect Harvey Zale gets involved with a sexting relationship with someone only known to him as Contessa. Alma is an antique expert and a bit jaded after her marriage to billionaire Harvey Zale ended on her accord. This story is of their run-ins as exes and the relationship with Harvey and Contessa. I enjoyed this story, though I thought that Alma seemed to be a bit of a shrew to keep this PG and swear word free! I thought the way she interacted with Harvey seemed a bit harsh given the circumstances, but I could understand her feeling guarded. 4 stars!

This book moved entirely to fast. My impression was that this book would be about setting, and while there was some of that it quickly progressed into a lot more I'm a short period of time. There was no build up or climax to their getting together. All and all in, pretty disappointing.

Loved this book. The author created a new take on second chance love & I was hooked from the very first page. Not only was the story unique but the information about Tiffany & Marshall Fields was fascinating. I loved reading all about Chicago history.

I will be reading more by this author!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Title: EXES - A Second Chance Billionaire Romance Novel
Series:
Author:Aria Hawthorne
Genre: New Adult , Romance
ISBN: 9780996836432
The author gives you a little mystery which makes the read very interesting. The details given were outstanding. I have been to Chicago the author wrote of it just as I remember it. Her research was done well. Alma has issues on people changing she wasn’t happy how her husband changed so she divorced him. Harvey never wanted the divorce and goes to any means to winner her back. The author really bought out the connect between the two I really liked the buildup but Alma just didn’t win me over. Marriage is Marriage you work though it giving it your all, the last step is divorce.

I thought this was an interesting read and give it 3.5 there were parts I really enjoyed. The passion is hot, the love scene steamy.

I enjoy reading stories but this author.
Exes is an unique take on a story and I enjoyed it. Falling back in love with your Ex? And texting one another without knowing.. brilliant.

I enjoyed Harvey. I have to say I loved him. He's swoon worthy and just as amazing as I'd love a book boyfriend to be.

If you're looking for a wonderful read- grab Exes today!!!

4 stars from me!

I just did not like the writing style and found the whole story tedious.
Not for me.

Can I be honest? Yes? I didn't like this book very much. I really tried to read this book. But forcing yourself reading - Ugh, not worth the pain. I did like the concept, tho. And I liked the male character -

I do feel really sorry, that my review ist this negative, because I am usually not like this and I really really thought that I am going to love this one.

Nothing against the author. I have so much respect for her. Writing and publishing a book is not easy.

It's just that, this book wasn't mine to read.

This author had the ability to write in a wonderful descriptive manner. That being said, this story just wasn't for me.

Alma and Harvey start a "sexting" type of romance only to discover they already knew each other. Not only did they know each other, but they were married. Their story felt a bit long to me and it took me a long time to get through this book. Alma also wasn't a character I found very appealing throughout the story. I can see how some people would enjoy this book, it just wasn't personally for me and I had a difficult time keeping myself interested

We are all familiar with the term EX. Sometimes for reason's unforseen and unbeknownst to us things just don't work out. Sometime's its just out of our hands and out of our control , othertimes it may actually be an mutual agreement that it's just not right for both people involved. That applies to bf/gf or husband/wife ex's.
Sometime's we don't know what we got until its gone and it takes that actual moment to actually wake us up and make us realise that what we had was pretty darn special.. This novel is an perfect example of this and fighting to get back what once was lost and to reignite the passion and fire of their love..

I think that if you are interested in romance love and relationship storylines , this is certainly the novel for you.. I enjoyed it so i recommend it .. check it out you wont be disappointed.

This is the first book I have read by Aria Hawthorne and will have to check out her other books. I love second chance romance books. There is just something about them that I just love.

This book was a fun sexy light read that hooked me right in. The main characters, Harvey and Alma got divorced, but still love each other. I loved the sexting between the main characters and how they didn't know they were actually texting each other! One thing I wasn't a big fan of was the ending. If you like a book that will make you laugh and where the main character will make you swoon then this is the book for you!

Harvey and Alma remind me of the old time televison shows that featured husband and wife team up. Hart to Hart, Moonlighting, and McMillian and Wife. The chemisty between these two was great. The texting was so flirty. I loved it. Thank you for the memories..

I really enjoyed this second chance love story: lots of angst but the ending made up for it. I typically enjoy Aria 's books and this was no exception.
