This is Rachel Lacey's best one yet. I was so totally enthralled in this book from the beginning to the end that I did not want to put it down. Ryan and Emma just pulled me in and would not let me go. Emma Rush totally amazed me. Her strength and determination to change things up in her life and going through with them all had me mesmerized. For someone to take a hard look at the path they are on and want more and to go after it, I admired her for it. And her feelings for Ryan that she had kept under wraps since they were younger, for her to get into a casual relationship with him to shake up her life some was very brave. She knew Ryan made a promise to her brother that he wants to honor yet she pushes him to let that go and do what comes natural. Ryan and his protective nature over Emma and his long lost brother who is back in town to get to know Ryan overwhelmed me. The way he finally caved to what Emma was asking of him, the casual relationship and how he did not want it to ruin their long standing friendship showed he cared for her and that he was stepping out of his comfort zone for her. Yet keeping her at arms length emotionally was very hard for him. He was afraid to ruin a friendship and he di not want to go back on his word to his best friend. I found that to be honorable and that also made me fall for Ryan myself. All in all I completely loved this book. the characters were realtable and funny. Ryan and Emma were extremely compatiable. And the sex was outstanding. All I will say is Chocolate syrup. |
I loved this book, I am a fan of Ms. Lacey's work and was really looking forward to reading the second book in the Risking It All series, and it didn't disappoint. Right from the first page I felt as if I was back visiting friends and half fell in love with Ryan myself. Emma and Ryan had instant chemistry, the heat was coming of the pages. There are lots of authors who write hot sex scenes, and you can tell that they are just doing it for the 'shock' factor, and although the sex between the two character is hot and frequent, it's believable because of how well they are written, if these two characters existed I real life they'd be all over each other. But this book wasn't just hot sex scenes, there was depth to the characters, each had faced personal tragedies and found their lives going in different directions. Add in a long lost brother, a fantastic group of friends and an adorable grumpy cat, this is one book you don't want to miss. Can't wait to read Mark and Jessica's story next ****ARC provided for honest review***** |
