I really had trouble getting into the book initially and getting caught up in the emotions of the characters. The storyline was good, but it just didn’t stand out in my mind amongst other books in the genre. The blurb was great, but overall the book just fell flat for me. |

Still loving this series, was nice to see Luke finally getting his turn in the spotlight. I really liked the heroine too, Raven was a good fit for him. Really looking forward to the next one! |

This was Luke and Ravens story. Great story. I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. |
Patience is a virtue. The last man standing alone is done feeling like the odd man out. Luke leaves his pack in start of a new adventure. It isn't ideal, his pack is home, but without a mate he'll always feel like he's missing out on something amazing. Then he meets Raven. The frightened woman on the side of the road running from something frightening becomes his everything with a single sniff. She's light and happiness and good times rolled into one beautiful body. He's found his forever, finally, but the madness she's running from just might send them to an early grave before they have a chance to reach for it. A single act of kindness can cause ripples of healing. Raven is a turned wolf. The life she once knew no longer exists. She has her sister, whom she turned so she wouldn't be completely alone, but they live in a world of misery and strife, where women are a commodity and treated as such. Her Alpha is a dictator, hell-bent on a creating a pack loyal to him and him alone, using and abusing those under his rule. This isn't the life she wants for herself or her sister. An attempt at escaping the hell she's in puts her in Luke's path. He's unlike the males of her pack. His kindness and compassion and caring make her yearn for something she's never known, calls to her lonely wolf's soul. But even more stunning than what she feels when she's around him is that undeniable pull she feels toward him. And that claim that he's her mate? She's had her fill of what a "mate" is and isn't sure she wants him. But little by little, piece by piece, Luke mends his broken mate. He goes above and beyond by promising to protect her and her sister, and then making good on it. He shows her how good their life can be together. He gives her countless reasons to love him and to accept his love in return. The turnaround is beautiful to watch. The conflict they are in the middle of pales in comparison to how much Raven grows and comes to terms I haven't read any of the other books in this series so I'm not sure how Nero figures into them. There is a light touching upon of that subject, and I get the feeling it runs a lot deeper than this story hints at, but the focus here remains firmly on Luke and Raven. This story is easy to read. It isn't too complex or dark. Ms. Kessler does a great job making her characters black and white. You'll know who to love and who to hate. This is a great story if you want something with action, suspense, and heartstrings-tugging romance. |

Luke Reynolds is trying to find a place for himself now that he’s the last member of his pack without a mate. While out on a drive, he stops at a broken down van where he finds Raven, a fellow wolf in need. Raven left her cruel pack in search of help for her and her sister with the closest pack. After her van breaks down, a man pulls up to help her. When Raven senses he’s also a wolf, she’s not sure if she should trust him after everything she’s been through. I’ve read a couple of the books in this series, so I’m already pretty familiar with this world. This one was just as good as the others. It’s obvious from the beginning that Raven and Luke are meant for eachother, especially when he puts his life in danger to protect her until the end. I really loved watching Raven through the whole thing as she basically goes from victim to a survivor who finds happiness. It’s another great book by a great author. I highly recommend. |
Wow! Talk about crazy alpha in a bad way… Raven has been turned into a werewolf without her consent and is now “part” of the Sedona Pack. In this case being “a part of” means you’re either an outright prisoner or they are using extortion to make you stay. Desperate to escape from the crazies, Raven decides to make a run for it and go to the Reno Pack and ask for their assistance. Only she runs out of gas on the highway not so far from the city. When a lone car stops to check on her, and the driver turns out to be a wolf from the very pack she was going to, it seems the Gods are finally on her side. Luke needed some space from his pack. Being the only one still without a mate was far from fun, so when the opportunity to be a head trainer in a ranch in Sedona came up, he didn’t hesitate to take it. As luck would have it that the hot chick stranded on the highway with tales of a crazy pack and a warning for his family, just turned out to be his true mate. With his protective instincts at full force, he can’t let Raven go back to the pack, so they’ll have to come up with a plan to take care of it. The more he learns, though, the more twisted he finds the Sedona Pack who are led by an old enemy of his family. Now they either fix the problem or lose any possibility of a future together. Raven was a really tough chick. She was in a less than ideal situation, but still tried to change it against every odd. She was caring, loyal, had a playful side and was quite snarky. Luke was a sexy alpha wolf, while at his old pack he was under the shadow of his twin, here he grew into himself. Once he touched Raven he was 1000% committed to taking her out of that place and he would stop at nothing to make her happy. I really liked how determined he was to help the innocents of the Sedona Pack, making him an honorable and compassionate man. In other words, Luke is the shit. Wolf Moon is action packed to the point where you want it to stop every once in a while. I felt I couldn’t relax once since it started, as the constant threat of discovery and failure relentlessly harassed them. I enjoyed how Luke and Raven’s relationship progressed. While it was still an “I-touched-you-and-now-I-know-you’re-my-mate” insta-love, Raven introduction to werewolfery made it hard for them to just jump into it. Now that all the wolves at the Reno Pack are mated but the menace of Nero is still out there, I wonder if the author will give mates to all the new sexy wolves in the Sedona Pack… And if so, I can’t wait to get my hands on their stories! |
Reviewed on behalf of 2 Girls Who Love Books Blog Luke leaves his home and his pack to find his way a horse trainer. He is the only unmated man in his pack. He has longed to find his mate. As he makes his home in Sedona, he finds his one and only, Raven. But finding his way also comes with a heavy price. He may lose his life when he runs into some trouble with another pack in the area. When I started reading this book I knew this book was going to be good. Wolf Moon was an excellent read. This book was definitely fast paced and a nail biter at times. But let's not forget the few steamy scenes between Luke and Raven. Raven was a very well written female character. She was such a strong lead. She proved that woman can handle their own too. I loved her in Wolf Moon. Having not read the prior books, Wolf Moon was an easy read to understand. Definitely worth a re-read. 4 stars!!! |
Luke has come to Sedona to scope out a few things and work training horses. He is the baby of the pack and the only unmated pack member in Reno where he came from. When he sees Raven's van stuck in the side of the road he stops to help and she tells him more than she thought she would. Raven was actually running to his pack to save her sister and herself from Caldwell who is the crazy Alpha. Caldwell is taken humans who no one would miss and having wolf shifters bite them to turn them into wolves and build his army. Luke doesn't know why but his pull to help Raven save her sister and herself makes sense to him. When Luke and Raven finally touch skin to skin both of their wolves are happy because Raven is the mate Luke thought he would never find. Raven is slow to trust as her only experiences with men have been a disappointment but she senses Luke isn't like that now if they can only survive. I just loved how Luke and Raven were so in tune with each other and how they each fit so perfectly together. This is not just a love story it's a fight for survival. |
"Moon Wolf" was my first book in the Moon series but it won't be my last. It was a sweet, sexy, action-filled story that kept me reading, wondering how Luke and Raven would get their happy ending. Of course, being me, I started late in the series with book seven. Cuz that's how I roll. 😊 Despite being the seventh book n the series, it worked pretty well as a stand alone. Many of the events and the main action are directly due to events in previous books but Kessler did a good job of weaving in back story without doing an info dump or slowing down the story. The story did slow down a bit around the halfway mark but it picked back up again quickly. Luke and Raven were good together, and I loved that though their wolves recognized each other as mates, their humans still had a say in things and they had to learn to trust each other and respect each other. Luke had just about given up hope of finding his true mate while Raven didn't know such a thing existed. He's a born wolf from a healthy pack while she's a bitten wolf from a dysfunctional pack. Luke was sweet, thoughtful, considerate, stubborn, and sometimes impulsive. Raven was wary, cautious, loyal, feisty, and capable of taking care of herself, though it took her a while to realize that. And then we get shifter politics. I did get a bit confused at times with all the politics and who was working for whom, maybe because I came into the series so late, but I was able to keep track of the players most of the time. Kessler's world has more shifters than wolves, they don't all get along, and her world building was strong. I want to know more about this world and get to know the rest of the Sedona Pack as well as learn more about Raven and her family. "Wolf Moon" was a near seamless mix of urban fantasy, action, and romance. I cared about the characters, got caught up in the politics, and want to see more of her shifters. While this book worked as a stand alone, if you're interested, it might be best to start at the beginning of the series to fully understand what's going on. |
I love wolf stories..but I just couldn't get into this one. No sync with characters,no story sucking me in..Sorry. |
Luke Reynolds came to Sedona to get away from his pack and to find himself. He loves his new job as a horse trainer. When he stops to help a stranded woman, he learns that she's a wolf shifter and that there's a plot by a renegade alpha working with Nero to attack and destroy the Reno pack. With Raven, by his side, Luke is determined to stop Allen Caldwell, a sadistic mad man who uses force and violence to increase his pack and his power. Luke is strong, fierce and protective. Raven is his mate and he won't let Caldwell or his guards harm her. These two are an unbeatable pair. These great characters drew me into the story. The action is non stop and filled with tension. I loved the chemistry between Luke and Raven. They're a passionate couple who share an intense bond. I enjoyed seeing familiar characters from previous stories. I liked the continuity. Lisa Kessler skillfully tells a suspenseful story that kept me on the edge of my seat. The surprising twist at the end was a shock. I can't wait for the next book in the Moon series to find out what happens next. I received a copy of this book. I voluntarily read it and my comments are my honest opinion. |

Action-packed and quite epic! I have been reading this series out of order, and this has been the third book I've read from the series. I must say that this was my favorite book so far! I loved it so much! Chapter 1 was such a great example of how to write a proper story. If that doesn't sell this book to you, I don't know what would. Luke was afraid he'd never find his mate, but when he did, wow, what a dilemma! There was a part when Luke was beaten to a pulp and he couldn't fight back. That was such a gruesome thing to read, but it was necessary. I thought it only strengthened his resolve to successfully infiltrate the pack of misguided wolves led by a sinister Alpha. Raven was a headstrong woman who was bitten to become part of an army of werewolves. The instinct to protect was just as present as it was inside Luke's. It was so energizing reading about Raven and Luke trying to protect each other. One of my favorite things from this book was in chapter one when the author inserted all kinds of ironic things that the readers would have already known, but Raven didn't. It was fun waiting for her to piece things together and figure things out. Another thing I really enjoyed was how Luke kept trying to teach other wolves in the pack he'd infiltrated how to properly greet each other. I thought it was so honorable and... right. I also really enjoyed the part when they all turned under a full moon and someone had to bite Luke's tail in order to prevent him from giving away his cover. It would seem that his wolf wasn't in on the secret ;) Overall, this book made me glad I started reading paranormal romance again. That's not to say I'd actively seek them out now, but I'm glad I'm reading this series. |
I'll admit I was a little bit leery about picking up this book to read, I figured since it was so far into the series that I would be inundated with a bunch of characters that had already been established and it would be next to impossible to follow. I was super wrong, this book is easily a standalone, yes there were characters from the other books in this one, but they were truly support characters, and I appreciated that the focus was mostly on our two main characters. Truth be told when I first started reading urban fantasy/paranormal romance book it wasn't the vamps that attracted me, it was shifters. There is just something about shifters that makes me happy. I was really intrigued by the blurb on this book, because Raven was turned against her will, it makes for some seriously emotional times, and I love that. Also I liked the idea because our lead guy being a lone wolf, which is a complication in of itself since wolves are pack animals by nature. So when we meet Raven, it's beyond clear she is in a bad spot, I mean she is literally running away from her pack. But hey, after getting to know Raven's pack over the course of the book, it is totally understandable why she would want to run as fast as she could in the opposite direction. I liked Raven, she's a strong woman. She is in an impossible situation, she wants to do right by her family and help the people she cares about but she isn't exactly in a position to be doing anything about it, but that doesn't mean she doesn't try. I love how she just keeps forging forward, but at the same time she still allows herself time to deal with what is happening to her emotionally. She has been through a lot and if the author hadn't addressed the trauma it wouldn't have felt right, but I thought the author addressed it without it being to overwhelming to the book. Now as for Luke, I really liked him. He is a stand up guy. He doesn't really have a lot going on in his life, mostly because he is trying to find him place, and couldn't seem to find it in his pack. Ultimately he is lonely, everyone around him has found their mate, and he is alone. So when Raven shows up in his life, it was easy to see how he would get himself involved in everything. Luke also has to go through some hard experiences in the course of this book, and I thought he dealt with everything really well. The only thing I didn't really love about this book is where Raven and Luke ended up. I really thought the two of them were going to go in one direction and they ended up going a completely different direction, it was unexpected and I don't know if it was as emotionally satisfying for me to end up where they did. Other than that, I really liked the book. I liked the suspense of what was going to happen, would the pack be saved, would everyone make it out alive, the heat between Raven and Luke, all of it was just a good read for me. |
Just loved this book! I’ve been waiting to see what would happen to Luke and Lisa Kessler did not disappoint. Like the other books in the series there is a lot of heart, humor, and heat, but this one brings a darker, edgier tone as Luke must deal with an evil, twisted pack that holds his future in its hands. Luke…*sigh*…all he wants is to find his mate. He’s seen what finding a mate can bring and he wants to find his own happy ever after. He’s also seen what not finding a mate can do to a wolf – not something he wants to even think about since it hits too close to home. Luke has been a great supporting character in the previous books in this series – always loyal, puts the pack first, and always there for everyone, especially his twin brother, so it was great to see him finally step out on his own and look for his own future and happiness. Of all the characters in the series I’ve always thought Luke was the most emotional one…and when he finds his mate that emotion ramps up to alpha conditions and he is one driven wolf – driven to protect and free his mate from Caldwell’s pack as well as doing whatever he can to protect his Reno Pack from the threat of Nero. Of course trying to balance out all that alpha and not putting himself and Raven in even more danger is not an easy task. Raven could hold her own. Even though she’s had a tough life she is still an optimist at heart, and meeting Luke has given her that spark of hope she needs to believe that things might just work out. I love the way she’s always cracking little jokes, bringing a smile to Luke’s face even when they had to face some really awful things. I love how the story arc is progressing and the tie in to Caldwell’s pack added a great dimension to this story and the series. Although we didn’t get to much time with the characters from the other books their presence was felt – especially in his phone conversations with his alpha, Adam, and also with his twin Logan. Although this is part of a larger story arc of the Moon series, this can easily be read as a standalone without anything being missed in the story. Of course I would recommend you start at the beginning to meet the entire Reno pack and understand the larger story arc…but then again this is one of my favorite series! Definitely check this one out – for that matter, any Lisa Kessler book is worth a read! |
I received an advance readers copy of this book from the author for an honest review. This was the first book I have read by Lisa Kessler and I was pleasantly surprised. As anyone who knows me knows I love Paranormal romance and tend to read way to many of them. With a thunderstorm heading my way tonight I decided to pull this book up on my kindle to read and planned on a lovely evening listening to the storm pass by and reading. I was quickly pulled into the story and even though this is the seventh book in the series it was not that hard to follow where and how characters were linked together. Ms. Kessler introduces you to a wonderful world where werewolves are moving side by side with humans in Sedona, Arizona.
“He caught my chin, his thumb brushing my bottom lip. “I want to get to know the woman, the wolf, standing in front of me right now. I don’t care who she could have been – you’re a survivor and that’s more than enough for me.”
(spoilers may accidentally slip out if you read further I tend to go on and on when I enjoy a story like this read at your own risk)
Raven and Luke are two wonderfully developed characters that you can not help but want to root them both on as they try to find their place with each other and in the werewolf world.
Raven Wood was pulled into the Sedona Pack and then changed against her will. While later she ended up pulling her older sister, Isabelle, into the pack also. Now they both are trapped in a sadistic pack. As Raven tries a daring escape to warn another pack about an attack from her back she finds Luke Reynolds. Luke was the youngest in his pack and left Reno to find his own way as the head horse trainer on a local ranch and longing for his mate after all in his original pack had mated.
Raven is a strong character that proving that she can handle her own. After being changed against her will and forced to live with the Alphas two body guards. She becomes trapped when her sister’s safety is held against her continued good behavior. At least until she meets Luke who respects her and shows her how a true wolf pack should interact.
Luke is determined to find his way. As the only un-mated male left in his pack he left them behind to become the head horse trainer on a ranch in Sedona. After finding Raven he wants to help her and the other innocents in her pack before he recognizes her as his mate. Will these two make it? Will Luke be able to infiltrate the pack and save them? There are so many questions and I don’t want to spoil it for you.
This story will have you on the edge of the seat as Luke and Raven are pulled more deeply into Sedona pack than they ever wanted to be. There were a few times where I wished that scenes were described a little further than Ms. Kessler did but as a quick read it is excellent. A few times during the story I was a little confused as to how characters which I assumed from other books in the series interacted. If the series was read in order I am sure that this would be an excellent addition. A quick evening read I highly recommend this read and look forward to reading more on the Reno pack. If you enjoy werewolves an a little mystery thrown in one click this one quickly on Amazon.

4 Stars! I have to admit, it has been a while since I found a shifter book that held my interest, but I have found it here with Wolf Moon. The connection between Luke and Raven is palpable and endearing. This book has it all…danger, mystery, intrigue and an epic romance. Plus hot shifters! I highly recommend! |

I received a copy of this story and am reviewing it voluntarily. Luke takes a job away from his small pack as a horse trainer. He is the only unmated man in his pack and feels like he doesn't belong. He loves horse training and this is a great opportunity for him to show how good he is. Raven is with a local pack and longs to escape. They turned her against her will and is abused and treated cruelly everyday, as soon as she can get out with her sister they will run. The man who leads the pack is truly demented. He wants to grow the numbers in the pack so people are turned against their will and women are only tolerated because they can be breeders. His plan is to kill off another pack, which happens to be Luke's family. Luke meets Raven and he decides to help her get her sister and escape. He has a plan... Will he be able to infiltrate the pack and get Raven and her sister their freedom while keeping his own family alive? Luke had a good family life but Raven's was totally the opposite. She doesn't trust any man so when she starts to feel attraction toward Luke it really throws her. She fights her feelings for him but yet she worries for his safety while he is trying to help her. The characters are written well and I feel like I know enough about them. Raven is smart and much stronger than she feels she is, she just doesn't realize it. Her sister is pretty tough also, I'd like to read her story! |
Posted on Les Romantiques - Le forum du site Reviewed by Rinou Review Copy from the Publisher Wolf Moon is the seventh volume in the Moon Series about a werewolves pack in Nevada, but it can easily be read alone as there are enough elements about the previous stories to understand the general plot. We follow Luke, the last unmated member of the pack, who, feeling uneasy with all these couples, decided to take a job as horse trainer in another state. Shortly afterwards he meets Raven who tries to flee the local pack. First I must point out that this novel is written in the first person, a style I don’t appreciate and I always feel less grabbed with it. Here the effect is lessen by an alternation of chapters told by the hero and the heroine points of view, however I’d have liked to be warned before beginning. The story is quite dark: the local pack’s alpha has decided to increase his troops by turning by force many people, all without family or relation, and to have them mating together or with other members in order to conceive a new generation. The newly turned are locked in a warehouse to avoid any escape. The heroine herself was turned against her wish and forced to live several months with the man who bit her and his brother, in the hopes of her becoming pregnant. The horror of this forced cohabitation is only mentioned in evasive words, which is better for those who can’t stand descriptions of sexual violence, but can be disconcerting at times as it’s way too vague. However there’s a lot of other violence (fights, murders) present very described. When it comes to the couple we have a story about fated mates with characters who recognize the other at the first skin-to-skin touch. It’s very common in paranormal romance, but here there’s still an evolution of the feelings through the heroine’s first reluctance because of what she went through with the brothers and because of her father’s disappearance when she was young. All in all I didn’t dislike this novel which has qualities but I didn’t like it either. There are details that seemed to me implausible and I wasn’t grabbed, sorry. |
