Annie Gracie has a new series, Marriage of Convenience. I loved her first series and had high hopes for this one. I was not disappointed. While I knew what was going to happen between Major Calbourne Rutherford and Miss Emmaline Westwood Gracie took her time and did a wonderful job of setting the scene. There was not a rush to marry. Instead the story line took its time introducing both the main and the very important secondary characters. I knew a lot about the Major, his sisters and Emmaline before the marriage happened. A interesting story with great hooks for future books in the series. A nice additional touch was getting to see one of the Chance sisters from the first series.
Adorable story of how diverse pieces of people's lives can become a cohesive family. Wonderful characters with a sweet, unhurried, ending.
I could not finish this book. I'm going to give it a try in a few months but the characters were not compelling.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. I like when past characters form previous series/books make an appearance. Light fun read that puts you in a good mood.
Cal could be thoughtful, "there was a short silence, then he said quietly, “Would you prefer to delay the wedding night? Wait until you are less tired. And we are better acquainted.” Cal's a very passionate man, "it’s nothing to do with that— it’s— d****t, woman!” He wrapped one powerful arm around her, hauled her against him and kissed her, long and hard." I really liked this book, I loved Cal! Both him and Emm were stubborn, amd caring and just perfect for one another.
