These jokes seemed to be aimed at the US market and didn't really tickle my British sense of humour

I always love a new clean joke or pun, so I was excited when I got a copy of The World's Greatest Collection of Dad Jokes: More Than 500 of the Punniest Jokes Dads Love to Tell. What I didn’t realize was-what I thought the title implied the book would be about-was completely different from what the title actually says the book is about.

The title implied this was the best collection of funny jokes and puns. What the title actually says is, this is a collection of the greatest dad jokes, you know, jokes dads like to tell.

So, when I opened up this book and started reading the jokes, yep, that’s right, reading, not laughing, and I read this like a book, I knew I missed something. Now, that doesn’t mean that there wasn’t anything funny in the book, because there were a few jokes that made me smile. However, I was let down from what I thought this book was.

So, this book is probably good at what it says it is–being a collection of jokes and puns told by dads. For the joke book that I thought it would be, I was very disappointed in this book.

They say laughter is good medicine and my family and I love to laugh! This was a great read that kept us laughing all the way through. Some are funny because they are just funny and some are funny because you can relate totally to what they are saying. “My memory is so bad I can’t remember the last time I forgot something.” Relatable, don’t ya think?!?! And this one, “I’ve reached an age where my hindsight also needs glasses.” I recommend this book to all who love to laugh and to all who need to laugh. You know who you are.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for advanced e-copy in exchange for an honest opinion.
The jokes in the book are clean, quite amusing and should appeal to a broad spectrum of ages. There are jokes that youngsters will enjoy and many jokes that fathers and grandfathers will recognize from their own experiences. Please note these are not in the "adult" genre - every pun can be told in mixed company.

This is a decent clean joke book with many Christianity-based jokes, but it is misleading to call it The World's Greatest Collection of Dad Jokes. I think of dad jokes as real "groaners", and often pun-based.- and jokes that dads tell to their kids. The chapter "For those who punderstand" comes close to that and has several good dad jokes within. But that's chapter five, and the rest of the book would appeal more to older audiences. The first chapter, In Hindsight, focuses on jokes about the elderly. Some are pretty decent but I would consider few to be "Dad Jokes" - would a kid understand jokes about the trials of aging? I could see a reverend telling these jokes to his congregation or a group of older parishioners and getting a great reaction, though. As titled, I think this book falls short. "Dad Joke" is a term we hear more and more often these days so I can see the publisher's desire to create a collection with this name. The amount of actual jokes in this book that fit this definition is small, so I would say two stars as titled, three stars if it was called Good Clean Jokes or similar and three and a half stars if it was titled Jokes for Ministers or something to that affect. I feel ministers would be the real audience for this collection.

I love Dad jokes. I am a dad, word play is part of the job. This book, however, didn't really cut it for me. There were a few groaners, but by and large I found myself shrugging my shoulders.

Dad jokes. I have been accused of telling a few. Now, thanks to The World's Greatest Collection of Dad Jokes: More Than 500 of the Punniest Jokes Dads Love to Tell I have plenty more ammunition. The title tells it like it is. This is a bunch of jokes, ranging from one-liners and riddles, to more extensive stories. Some are classics. All of these, I expect, have been passed down through a few generations of Dads, now lovingly preserved and organized into a dozen categories by Glenn Hascall.

This collection is published by Barbour Publishing, a Christian publishing house, so you can be sure that the jokes are clean and, for the most part, inoffensive. Just to be sure you know this is a Christian book, each chapter starts with a scripture. I love the Bible, but the scriptures didn't add much to the book.

Hascall included some old favorites, like "repaint, and thin no more," "shave it," "the reception was great," and "no one can play it, and we really need more light." If you don't recognize those punch lines, well, you'll have to read the book!

True to the publisher's roots, there are good number of church-related jokes, like church bulletin gaffes and funnies. ("The class on prophecy has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.") I particularly enjoyed the "funny things kids say" jokes, too. (The little boy at the tiger exhibit at the zoo: "Daddy, if the tigers escaped and ate you . . . how would I get home?")

I've tried some of these out on my teenage boys. Reaction? "Stop, Dad, just stop." Mission accomplished!

This is an interesting collection of jokes organized into sections by category. There were some good jokes that I shared with my husband and we got a chuckle out of them.

The formatting in the ARC kindle version made it difficult at times to see where one joke ended and another began.

Thank you to NetGalley and Barbour Publishing for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Not funny; more about the Bible than humor

I was disappointment by this book. I was expecting humor but there wasn’t much. Some of the jokes are funny but most are just bland. None are offensive. A lot of the humor revolves around the Bible and each chapter starts with a biblical quotation. This undercurrent of the bible and faith restricts the material used in the book. Unless you are interested in this type of humor, I would not bother with this book.

Hilarious and perfect for a quick and ridiculous laugh.

I would add to the title: And Grandpas Too! My husband had just started amassing jokes for our 6 year old granddaughter. When I saw this title I had to request it! I will purchase it when it is published to keep as reference!

The World's Greatest Collection of Dad Jokes is, as the name suggests, a collection of jokes that range from one line puns to dad like stories that just beg for a groan. There are more than 500 dad joke organized in topics—Silly Kids, Action/Reaction, All Puns All the Time, Love & Marriage, One-Liners, Faith—so dads (and fans of dad jokes) can find the right joke for every occasion.

The World's Greatest Collection of Dad Jokes is a solid collection, but I did not find the jokes to be new, or incredibly funny. I thought some were good, and did induce a grin or a grin. However, I was hoping for new jokes to use with my pun and silly joke loving son. This collection is well organized and fun, but did not offer me the number and quality of jokes that I was really looking for. It was good enough for a coffee table book or bathroom reading- but not something that I would keep handy for when I need a good joke to add to my arsenal. It was not horrible, I just had high hopes for the book and was a little let down.

This book does what it says on the tin. As a great lover of the dad joke, this book hit my funny bone. It's a great bit of light reading for a dark time and would also make a lovely gift for the dad in your life.

This is the biggest collection of lame jokes that I've seen in a long time. Most of them were ones that my friends and I were telling when I was a kid. I know this wasn't written as a children's book, but it would be wonderful in a children's library.

There were some real howlers in this collection of jokes. And some so old they make you squirm. Great stuff!

I love cheesy jokes and puns, so I was looking forward to this book. Unfortunately, none of the jokes were funny. I like the clean cover design, but that's all the good I can say about this book.

These were not "dad jokes" in the clever sense I had been expecting - these were just plain bad. Not funny, poorly edited, and what's with the weird religious bits?
