Thank you to Victory Editing and NetGalley for providing me with a copy in return for an honest review. The concept of this trilogy: Each book will focus on one couple who are forced to take the Extra Credit class in college. All three, to my understanding, occur around the same time. Each can be read as a standalone, though. I was in mood for a good NA Romance and I’ve read most of the good ones already out, therefore I went onto NetGalley and this drew me in immediately. It didn’t take long for me to get completely sucked in. I finished it in one sitting. It was that good. I LIKED JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING, BUT HERE’S A CONCISE LIST: There wasn’t too much sex. I like NA books because they occur in college. I love college romance. The only thing? Most of the times I tend to skim through the sex scenes, and there are quite a few. But not in this case. It was there, but appropriate amounts. It’s only descriptive once, so you can concentrate on the story. Not the usual pairing. If you’re bored of the usual jock-and-nerd or guy-with-tragic-past-and-girl or vice versa etc, this is what you’re looking for. All Kyle wants is to graduate and join the Army. Lani is a dancer, kind of a doormat and doesn’t like attention. The other two pairings (for the next books) are different too, from what I understood. POC representation. And it’s not the simple Asian or African. Lani is Hawai’ian. I’ve never read about a Hawai’ian before. She also spoke about the first time she’s faced discrimination and how it is. I learnt how to spell Hawai’i right. I honestly didn’t know Hawaii was wrong. I like titbits of general knowledge in books. Kyle is huge and tough looking, but a cinnamon roll at heart. He doesn’t mind that Lani yells at him or doesn’t do what he says on the way to standing up to herself. In fact, he’s proud that she’s finally learning to say no. He’s also really protective of Lani, right from the start, and it’s so cute. The ending. Almost all the books end with the couple coming back together after a fight and staying together forever. The characters’ future plans fit. But here, it isn’t like that. The future plans don’t fit perfectly. I love that they are not putting their dreams off. They’re working around and through it. That is reality. Extra Credit class. I’ve never heard of such a class, but it’s a really good concept and I wish it was there is all colleges and universities. The class pairs up students and they help each other overcome their fears and difficulties. It helps in practical life. I also liked the teacher/professor. She actually advises and helps. Overall, it is a sweet, fluffy, romantic book which I totally recommend. If you liked Smut by Karina Halle, you will definitely like this. And I don’t say this lightly because Smut is one of my favourite NA Romance books. I can’t wait for the next two books, and this book has just been published! |
Charlotte Penn Clark is new to me! I enjoyed this story. I had a hard time putting down this book. Kyle & Lani had great chemistry & banter! |
I will not be posting a review on goodreads because I was unable to enjoy this book and do not feel comfortable leaving a negative review. |
I'm not going to rate this book because I didn't finish it. I abandoned it at around 18%. The characters just didn't grip me. I found them dull and lacking personality. The narrative itself also seemed lifeless and not very exciting. |

I had a love/hate with this story. Overall, i liked it but there wereany parts that kind of annoyed me at the same time. Worth reading though in my opinion. |
The Partnership was a beautiful, intriguing story. A new adult romance with two opposites that are attracted to one another. Each character was unique in their own way and kept me interested the whole time. I also thought the Extra Credit program was brilliant. Lani is a very passive person. She doesn't like attention or to cause issues for people. She just becomes a doormat. She grew up this way considering her family's status with her brother. Her being put in the program was frustrating because she allowed her friend to walk all over her. She was shy, quiet, reserved and kept ro herself. However, underneath all that she was a fun, awesome girl. The program did some good for her. I enjoyed that she was also Hawaiian! Kyle is like a ticking time bomb. He's very assertive and knows what he wants. I enjoyed his character, but I knew his anger stemmed from somewhere. It amazed me to see how deep his anger went. He was put in the program due to a class he failed. I loved his personality because even though he was assertive he had a loving heart for those in his circle. Just downright awesome. The romance between Lani and Kyle was pretty darn cute. I admired that even though Lani was shy, she knew how to enjoy herself sexually which of course was good for Kyle. The two of them together are absolutely funny and help to balance one another. I loved seeing them grow as a couple and really work towards a loving relationship. The sex was amazing between them as well. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and definitely plan to read the others because the other characters are just as interesting. |
I loved this book this is the first book that I have read by Charlotte Penn Clark I loved the writing style and was hooked from the very first page and couldn't put my kindle down while reading this book. I loved all the characters especially Kyle and Lani and I loved their relationship I also can't wait to read the next installments in this series |
I loved it, I really enjoyed the storyline and characters can't wait to see what comes next from the author! |
This was my first read by Charlotte Penn Clark, and loved her writing. From start to finish I couldn't put down this. It was a cute and different new adult romance, one I liked and enjoyed a lot. I liked the fact Lani and Kyle was complete opposites. I loved how with their luck they get paired together. Lani is quiet, quirky, and she's a book nerd. Where Kyle is anger driven, impatient, restless, just the complete opposite. But both perfect for each other. But like they always say opposites attract. Loved and highly recommend. |

"The Partnership" introduces us to "Kyle" and "Lani". Kyle is everything a young college hottie is with all that bad boy aura and 'stay away from me I'm not good for you' vibe. On the other hand "Lani" is our good girl but not so good. She likes to stay in shadow, never takes credits for het work and always choose wrong friends. Kyle and Lani both ends up in a pilot class called extra credits. They both are instantly attracted to each other but ignore it. And then they end up being partners and help each other overcome their weaknesses. Lani helps Kyle to write his paper and Kyle helps Lani with her confidence. Their interaction were interesting and fun. They were really easy around each except of all that sexual tension. Their relationship bloomed with time from being friends to being friends with benefits or rather partners with benefits and then finally they accepted their feelings and became a couple. "It's not about you but it's all about you. It's just so fucking complicated" TBH, I loved Kyle and the plot but I had some problems with Lani's character. I was just unable to connect to her. Kyle sort of sacrificed his dream to live with Lani but Lani did nothing. She was kind of selfish like that. The plot is quite simple but entertaining. The story is a perfect blend of humor, sweetness and hotness. I have no complaints with author's writing style. It was perfectly written. Nevertheless, it was a fair read, an enjoyable one. If you are a fan of quick, fun college romance, I totally recommend this book to you!! ---General Ratings--- Kyle- 4.5 Stars Lani- 2 Stars Plot- 4 Stars Storytelling- 4 Stars Turns and Twists- No twist and turns Humor- 3.5 Stars Romance- 4 Stars Story ending- 3 Stars |

The story of The Partnership is centered on two college kids who end up in class together. There is an instant attraction between them. After partnering up for an assignment, their relationship progresses very quickly but not without a few bumps in the road. I honestly struggled with this book. The characters are very inconsistent in their moods and behavior. In some cases their thoughts and their actions are complete opposites. I also had a few issues with the lingo. There was one spot where I had to wonder if the word was a typo or just something I've never heard of before. This was the first time I've read a book by the author, and while I'm curious to see what happened between the next couple in the series, I'm a little hesitant of starting the new book when it comes out. ***ARC was provided for an honest review*** |
The Partnership has really drawn to my attention ever since I read the synopsis and it definitely has wow-ed me from the start till the end. It is so good especially between Kyle and Lani. Both of them has their own way on how to make it work, how to be better and how to encourage each other. I love the fact how Kyle bring Lani into something she afraid to doing in the beginning. I mean she do ballet, she good in dance, yoga even writing! and Kyle definitely help her to open herself bit by bit, so that she will be to do something for herself, to be better every day, to not be afraid of taking any challenges. So does, Kyle. Lani has help him in try be from good to better, from a guy who doesn't really care of whatever things happen around him to make him care a bit, to share things he afraid to share. Both of them definitely make a good pair, good partnership. I love how the author show the progressing in their relationship in every chapter. I read this in one sitting because I just couldn't stop from reading it because the story is soooo goood, which I really love it and even reading the excerpt of Annika and Matt make me looking forward to read the author next new books! I really love and enjoy the author writing so much! |
I enjoyed book, good YA love story. Kyle and Lani meet in a class for problem students, or one who is failing. Kyle is a hothead, gets angry about almost everything. Lani is a laid back person, who does not want to call attention to herself in anyway. They are assigned to become a team, and she calms him, just by being there, and Kyle will give her the confidence she needs. They get to know another while spending time together, and eventually fall in love. Unfortunately, school is about to end, and Kyle is going to graduate, but Lani still has a year to go, what will they do? Is this the end for them? |
This book was amazingly written, but a little fast paced. I understand that it is a novella, but it still felt a little too fast for the format. All in all I enjoyed reading it and cannot wait for the next one! |
The Partnership by Charlotte Penn Clark was a charming, cute new adult romance. The university has started a pilot program for students who have been in academic or behavior trouble. This program gives them the opportunity to earn extra credit and learn how to manage their problems through thought provoking exercises. Kyle and Lani are complete opposites that are paired together in this class. Through the assigned exercises and new friendship, they both help one another face the real root of their problems that landed them in this class. A sweet relationship develops without sex being on the table. They are truly getting to know one another as individuals. They are both learning about each other as well as themselves. The entire class seems to forming these kind of connections through these paired partnerships. They are also finding friends that are outside of their social circles. I enjoyed this book and hope there is more to come. |
Extra class is for those who needs to make a credit or in trouble. Lani and Kyle is in same extra credit class and from the first class Kyle is memorized by Lani’s eyes. Kyle really hates to write and Lani hates attention where they needed to pair up. Teacher gives unusual group assignment where they need to find what each other needs help and help them through writing. Kyle is loud mouth and not afraid to make waves where as Lani hates attention drawn to her and loves to write. When they are paired up together, both are trying to find what they need to improve on. Lani is willing to help Kyle but Lani is afraid to open up to him. They were working along each other and they are finding ways to help each other and it becomes more than just friendship and they are not sure how to handle their attraction. All their friends from class is pairing up like Kyle and Lani and they seem to get along as the semester goes. As the time flies, Kyle is set on joining the army and he want to spend more time with Lani but it seems like the end for both. Lani doesn’t know how to handle the relationship and she is running away again. Will they find their happiness and love at the school?? I did like the story more than i thought I would. It was great storyline between Kyle and Lani and I can’t wait to read about other classmates. I did enjoy reading this book and i did like both characters. |
The Partnership was a super quick and really cute read! The synopsis grabbed me right away and I wasn't disappointed by the story-line at all. I look forward to reading more by Charlotte Penn Clark and more in this series. |

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC from Netgally. The more ARC books I read, the more I'm beginning to see the importance of editing. Well, no worries. The editing in this book was a joy! This was a wonderful dual POV story. The characters were very enjoyable and the secondary characters were only around long enough to whet my appetite to read their stories. YAY! Can't wait. Both H & h seemed to compliment each other and you just knew that they were meant to be together. This wasn't an extremely long book, but what there was of it was a pleasure to read. I'm pretty sure that anyone that picks it up will be pleasantly surprised. I hope to be surprised for the others in the series! |
Charlotte Penn Clark has written a sweet story with The Partnership. I really loved the Extra Credit class concept and the differences with Kyle and Lani were great. I really enjoyed this one. |
