Masquerading with the Billionaire is the first book I have read by Alexia Adams and probably my last. I might give another chance to the author if the blurb of one of her works interests me and I hope things will go better with it than they did with Masquerading with the Billionaire. For me, the book would have been great if the story was more expanded and the characters had some space to develop. The whole idea of the book sounds intriguing, but in then it was flat. I wanted to see more family drama and more romance. I didn't like the reason our couple was separated towards the end of the book. If I were Kat I wouldn't have forgiven Remington so easily. He sad some very silly reasons for breaking it up with her. Do you know what else was silly? The reason why the hacker Kat was hired to find caused all that trouble. It might have been a way to start the book, but I wanted something more grand and smart, but you don't always get what you wish for. I wouldn't recommend the book because I feel like it needed something more to become a good book.

I’m going to write this review a little differently than I’d normally write. Instead of narrative form, here are some quick bullet points about my thoughts on the book.

Things I enjoyed:
1. The overall plot is interesting and I enjoyed the general series of events.
2. I like the Russian culture/trip to Russia as a unique element to the story.
3. I enjoy that Remington is a jewelry designer and Kat is a hacker. The switching of expected professions due to gender constructs is fun.

Things I did not enjoy:
1. The writing is difficult to follow due to a lack of transitional phrases and sentences. This made the narrative seem stilted and I had a hard time understanding what was going on and why it was happening. Usually I only mention writing issues if it impedes my understanding of the story and in this case it did.
2. It was difficult to always know whose point of view I was reading as there were no line breaks or other formatting indicators to help me know when the shift happened. In alternating first person narratives this can be difficult in ebook format, especially ARCs, but again it was to such a degree that I had a difficult time following the story.
3. Secondary characters were not well developed even though they played an important role in the plot. Margaret-Mary is a good example. I would have enjoyed more time flushing Margaret-Mary and Harry.

This book is about Remington Steele Wolfe, a jewelry designer who believes that someone is posting malicious code in his accounting department and thinks that it might be an inside job. A friend recommends that he hire Kat Smith, cyber-security specialist to help track down the code. Since it is most likely an inside job, his employees can't know what job Kat is there to do so as a cover up she pretends to be Remy's girlfriend.

Kat is Russian but pretending to be an American because an ex-boyfriend got into some trouble and she is worried that they may eventually come after her if she is not careful with her identity. When Remy invites her to Russia because he is up for a large jewelry contract with a Prince, she is hesitant at first but decides to go with him in hopes of finding her sister.

While she has been able to keep her identity a secret for a while, Remington figures out that she is Russian and she ends up confiding in him and their relationship becomes more and more real.

The Prince ends up offering Remington the job to make his jewelry but under one condition - he must break it off with Kat because her ex was security in Russia and fed him some lies about her. Will he take this dream job and risk losing his dream girl?

This book was a pretty easy read, a lot of different locations were mentioned in it which was fun to be jet setting all over the place. I'm not sure I found the Remy/Kat relationship all that believable and things worked out a little bit too perfectly at times (I honestly could have done without the last chapter and had it end before that) but I did enjoy the book and looked forward to reading a bit of it each night before bed.

I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review, I was not otherwise compensated.

Masquerading with the Billionaire is a sexy, entertaining read with two likable, strong leads. Kat Smith is a cyber security expert who has been hired by Remington Wolfe (I love that name!!!) to find out who has been messing with the security of his company's network. He's not expecting such a sensuous, gorgeous woman and he's instantly attracted to her. They decide she'll pose as his girlfriend as she works to figure out what's going on with his network and soon they end up engaging in a steamy fling. It's little surprise that even though their time together is short, they end up developing strong feelings for each other. They're both passionate people, with emotional issues caused by horrible childhoods. Hers because her mother threw her out onto the streets in favor of her sister, who soon became a premier ballerina, and his because his parents were distant, uncaring people who left his care to his nanny, then to boarding school.

I absolutely love Kat. She's my favorite kind of heroine: strong, smart, and independent with a compassionate, loving heart. She went through so much in her short life, and came out on top and with her heart intact. Wolfe too is amazing, but had been left very mistrustful of women, of people in general, because of his parents, so it caused him to mistrust Kat, even though she hadn't given him any reason to mistrust her. I wanted to smack him upside the head when he hurt Kat, even though I knew it was coming. Thankfully, his hunger for fame finally came in second to his love for her, and he made up for it in a sweet, soul baring way!

I really enjoyed Masquerading with the Billionaire. Kat is a cyber security expert who is helping Wolfe find who has hacked his company’s system. He is about to bid for a high profile design that will make him more famous than he already is. Kat is living a lie, using a fake identity, to escape her past. When sparks fly between Wolfe and Kat, their fake relationship becomes too real. Then Kat’s past catches up to her and problems abound.

This story is a fun romance filled with suspense that gives it an interesting feel. Kat may be my favorite heroine to date. This is a definite must read!

Sexy, hot, nerdy computer geek and she. Yes, I said she was a master of disguise and could hack with the best of them. She sent in to do that job that was built for a man. So, no one would suspect a female. Would they? Here I should have been head over heels in love with the male, Remington, but Kat stole the show for me. She was a strong independent woman that could handle her business and fall in love. I did not say that it was easy but she took care of it.

Kat had a backbone that was forged over time and experience. She gave the female lead something that many have come to lack over the years. She still feminine but strong, fierce, capable. She made the perfect counterpart to Wolfe and the things he truly needed in his life. There are many ins and outs to this one that will keep you on your toes. There’s action, drama, and ultimatums. This one will have you turning page after page. Again and again.

Kat is a woman with secrets but she is very good at her job as a cyber security expert. When she goes to do a job for Remington, their attraction is instant. In her quest to find his culprit, they get quite well **ahem** acquainted.

The plot was made interesting more so by Kat's past than by what she was doing for Remington. She has complexity to her personality that kept me interested while Remington did the sexy alpha bit quite well. Their intimate moments were seriously HOT.

The writing was solid and well rounded. This author is definitely one to watch for. All in all an enjoyable read.

Safety: No others for either. Neither are virgins. No rape.

ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

**3.5 Stars**

Remington, though he prefers Wolfe, is thankful an old friend of his was able to recommend a cyber genius, Kat, to help him uncover who has been inserting malicious code into his company's systems. As he's awaiting her arrival, he sees a gorgeous woman and his brain instantly creates images of all the things he'd like to do to her, with her, and...woah, it's Kat. She looks nothing like the picture his assistant found of her.

Kat cheekily informs Wolfe her friend insists upon playing pranks by using other people's pictures and claiming they're her. Although, she can think of numerous things she'd like to show this sexy man, none of them involve her identification. Kat thought she had her immediate attraction to him on lock down after reading over his file, but nothing prepared her for his potency in person.

As Wolfe and Kat discuss his situation more in depth, they also need to agree on a cover story. Though Kat knows she'd rather choose the safer option of appearing to work in accounting, the one that ensures her more freedom is also the one that could be the most dangerous to her senses...playing the role of Wolfe's girlfriend.

It isn't long into their charade before pretend starts feeling real and has both parties questioning the sanity of this idea. As for Wolfe, having been burned once upon learning a woman's true intentions, he has Kat investigated to ensure he isn't being tricked again. However, Kat, for her safety, needs to remain an unknown factor as her real identity may be uncovered if anyone digs too deeply into her current alias.

"There was no one she could truly rely on. If she told Wolfe everything about her past, he'd dump her faster than Usain Bolt ran a hundred meters." - Kat

Kat is unlike any woman Wolfe has ever known and while that worries him, it also intrigues him. Kat though can easily see herself falling for him and that terrifies her as she believes Wolfe will only ever view her as a fling due to her history. But Kat's biggest secret? She wants the fairy tale of a marriage grounded in love and children created from it.

"It may have started as a game, but our mutual response wiped all the cards off the table." - Wolfe

What happens when someone from Kat's past has Wolfe doubting her? Will Kat be able to convince Wolfe of her innocence? Or will Wolfe's own past cause him to believe the worst of her? How will Wolfe react upon learning his professional dream can be achieved if he agrees to one condition? How will Kat feel upon learning, yet again, that she comes in second to someone's ambition? Will Wolfe let her go to accomplish his goal? Or will he realize loving, and being loved by, Kat is all he truly needs?

One-click now and follow along as two people work together to save a company, find a piece of the past, and learn if they have a future together.

The premise for this story is juicy, and it had a lot of potential, but overall I found it to be just meh. The last 40% was relatively exciting, but the rest felt almost mechanical—the dialogue wooden and the emotional arc forced. It tried to hard to be clever and sexy, and there were parts I enjoyed, memorable quotes like this...

"Meet me in my flat for dinner at seven.”
“Is that an invite or a command?” She zipped her dress up as Wolfe stepped back.
“Whatever it takes to get you there.”
Tilting her head to one side, she pulled on her gloves. “Maybe if you got down on your knees.” The only way she could describe his smile was wolfish.
“I guarantee you that at some point in the night I’ll be on my knees, but I won’t be the one begging.”

...but I wouldn't recommend this story over others with a similar setup. I hate giving public low ratings to a book—I know how much sweat and tears go into writing and releasing a novel—but for this rating, I hover between "I sort of liked it, at times" and "I didn't really like it". So I'm rounding up and going with 3 stars. Realistically, this is more of a 2.5 for me.

Masquerading with the Billionaire is a novel that quickly captured my attention. From the very beginning I was hooked. The storyline, the main characters, the intimate scenes, and feeling provoked through the enjoyable writing style was a winner all together. Wolfe needs Kat to find out who is trying to destroy his company internally. As they spend time together Wolfe becomes fascinated with the mystery that is Kat. Kat is running from her past and isn’t planning to change for anyone. She can’t slow down for too long and she doesn’t plan for her fake cover story relationship with Wolfe become real. But the problem with faking it is when those feeling begin to feel real. I really enjoyed reading this novel! I would give it 4.5 stars.

Although this is book 4 of the Guide to Love series it's the first one I've read, as well as my first Alexis Adams story. Each story in this series is about the friends within their billionaire group, each one is it's own standalone love story. I absolutely thoroughly enjoyed reading Remington "Wolfe" and Kat's story. They had an instantaneous connection from first sure that're neither of them expected or knew how to handle. It was interesting to read how they grew closer together add they worked at finding who was sabotaging Wolfe's component whole he was working for the biggest job of his career. Kat has secrets she hasn't told anyone, but somehow she starts to tell Wolfe stone of them, but can she trust him with them including trusting him with her heart? Wolfe has been burnt in the past by someone he loved, can he trust Kat enough to give her his heart? Will either of them let the other in the way, or will they continue to be alone? You'll have to read Masquerading With the Billionaire to find out. I look forward to reading the other stories within this series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book via Tasty Book Tours through NetGalley for an honest blog tour review. Due to sexual content this novel is recommended for readers 18 and older.
Favorite Passage ~
~ “Your secretary has a vivid imagination. Or is this a common occurrence in your office?” “Surprisingly, you are the first of my ‘girlfriends’ to visit my office, which probably accounts for all the curiosity about you.

Remimgton Wolfe/ Wolfe a famous jewelry designer and now was waiting for Kat Smith who was a cyber security expert Wolfe had hired. Kat had come in from San Francisco and worked in the IT industries.Wolfe had run into an old schoolmate- Simon and confessed his need for a discreet computer securities expert to uncover the person embedding malicious code in his company’s systems. Within hours Simon came through but with only the name Kat Smith and time of arrival. Kat thought Wolfe was hot and she needed to be immuned to him or get into his code soon. Liam Manning had asked her to take this job. Wolfe told kat that up until two months ago everything had been fine. Now invoices were being dropped from the payment schedule and on a completely random basis and odd things were happening with his and his secretaries emails- some messages shown as read before they were even opened. They had changed their passwords and Wolfe had the entire system checked for viruses, malware, and bots but all the tests had come back clear. According to an industry expert had said most likely the cause is that someone had rewritten or added to the code for the accounting program. “ Kat” offered to appear as Wolfe’s girlfriend so a stranger among them wouldn’t look odd. Five years ago Kat had escaped from Russia with only her laptop and a determination to turn her life around. She owed a lot of her success to Liam. Kat pretends to be an American and lives under an assumed name. Kat and Wolfe are attracted to each other . Wolfe doesn’t like not knowing anything about Kat yet she knows a lot about him. Wolfe asks Kat to go to Russia with him as he is competing to make jewels for a prince and his own family. If he got to do this he would go down in the history books and his name would never be forgotten.
This was a good story and I enjoyed it a lot. I had no problem reading this from the very beginning until the last page. I liked that Kat was beautiful but had a brain and was actually needed for her brain. I couldn’t blame Wolfe for wondering if he could trust Kat as he really didn’t know anything about her. With everything going on and still having problems in his company. But i really liked the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I recommend.

Kat Smith is a seriously gifted cyber security expert who has been hired to conduct an investigation into Remington Wolfe’s organization and determine why invoices are disappearing payroll has some weird things happening also and Wolfe is competing for a design contest for a royal family in the Middle East and cannot risk the designs being exposed before the event. I received a free, early release copy from the publisher via NetGalley. Kat also has some things that she is trying to stay out in front of from her past. As they work together to try and determine who is responsible for the malicious code causing issues in Wolfe’s network Kat and Wolfe grow closer.
Wolfe has been burned recently by another woman he thought he was close to and Kat’s secretiveness is driving him crazy. Does she have other reasons for being there? She works for Liam, a friend of Wolfe’s so she is supposed to be someone he can trust, but, Wolfe sees deception in some of the answers to the questions he asks Kat. Wolfe and Kat are posing as a couple so that no one in the company is aware of what Kat’s investigation. He also is heading to Russia and decides to take Kat with him, but, Russia is not a safe place for Kat to visit and one wrong step could put them in danger. Masquerading with the Billionaire is a great read. Wolfe and Kat had amazing chemistry. There was an interesting plot and even a nice mystery which romance readers do not always get. A fun, witty, and sexy story that seamlessly flowed out of the pages delivering a tale of love, loss, and deceive. The layers of lies and falsity laying on every step of the way, putting the characters life on the edge and into a constant danger of being found out or being betrayed.
I enjoyed the characters immensely. They were interesting, had depth, smarts, unique wisdom and a broad worldview. That the author knew what she was talking about when she created these multinational characters was obvious, the cultural matters were so spot on, and the environments exact and legitimate giving the story credibility and validity.
Remington Wolfe is not your typical billionaire. His wide understanding of life and people who grew up differently than himself was refreshing. Being neglected as a child was something that gave him and Kat something to bond over, making their connection from the first moment on more profound. Remington was kind, generous, and caring. His offer to let Kat cry on his arms melted my heart.
Kat Smith was an amazing character. She had overcome more than most can even comprehend. Yet she had managed to make a life for herself, a good life with a bright future. As long as she is not caught in the web of lies her whole life exist on. I felt so connected to her, to the mix of languages in her mind, and longing for the home far away a long time ago that wasn't there anymore.
Together Kat and Remington went from steaming hot to endearing and adorable in a heartbeat. Having watched Remington Steele on the television gave me a connection to the story that is unique, the images the tale created in my mind more specific.
The elements of suspense and treachery brought intensity to the tale and helped to move the plot forward and the characters around the world. A well written, marvelously entertaining tale!

I have enjoyed books by this author in the past so when I was given the opportunity to read and review an ARC of this book I decided to take a chance. I really enjoyed this story. It is a well written, fast paced romance, but it contains elements of mystery and suspense along the way as well. The story takes the reader on a journey through not only the relationship between Wolfe and Kat but through various countries that the author describes with wonderful imagery. I enjoyed watching the relationship between the two main characters grow.

This “new to me” author put quite a spin on what I figured would be a cookie cutter pattern romantic read, folks. Kat Smith, the heroine, caught me by surprise by her multi-layered past and intriguing present profession. Sure, she can unravel and track down any malicious computer software, but the way she hacked into and knocked down the fire walls around Remington Wolfe’s untouchable heart was quite impressive, as well.

As slowly but surely Kat’s true identity is revealed, I’m happy to report there was an intriguing hint of cloak and dagger plot twist which added to this romantic, steamy storyline. She certainly stole the show for me. Though it took this billionaire hero a while to catch up with the program and realize what he valued the most, I want to thank Ms. Adams for giving us such a strong, enduring heroine that refused to be any man’s doormat or second choice.

The office plot itself was quite predictable, and Kat’s estranged family situation was a little OTT unlikely, but it didn’t deter me from enjoying seeing these two destined to be lovebirds bond together and get their HEA.

Masquerading with the Billionaire is one of those stories that captures your attention from the first page and doesn’t let go until the final period is in place. Kat and Wolfe’s world was so well drawn that I had no trouble at all falling into their story. Emotionally their story was the type that keeps you thinking after the ending, wondering perhaps what you might have done… and realizing that their story was unique, simply allowing it to find it’s place among those wonderful books memories is enough.

I adored Kat. She is strong, brave, at moments vulnerable but determined – and she takes no crap from Wolfe. This is a woman secure in who she’s made herself and no man, not even one she’s in love with, is allowed to rock that foundation. I liked Wolfe, although I admit there were moments when I wanted to give him a stern set down. He had some learning to do, some attitude adjusting before he totally won over my heart. But together they were absolute magic.

This is a story where it would be easy to give away too much. So I’m going to suggest that you read this one for your own enjoyment, and make up your mind on this alluring couple. I can say that Masquerading with the Billionaire is emotional, sexy, full of twists and turns that you will not always see coming at you. There’s mystery and danger, acceptance and loving – in the end that’s the most beautiful gift of all, having someone love you exactly as you truly are.

Readers who enjoy Romance mixed in with a bit of Mystery will find a perfect fit with this story. I’d have no trouble recommending this story or this series. Completely enjoyed every moment spent with Wolfe and Kat.
