Maybe This Love by Jennifer Snow is thoroughly engaging, with sweet characters and fun storyline. Ben Westmore is the typical famous sports player. Women want him and he indulges. When a night in Vegas doesn’t go as planned, Ben needs to seek out a lawyer. Enter, Olivia Davis. Only…she’s representing the woman he doesn’t he remember marrying. How fun, right? Olivia has plans for herself and they don’t include an NHL playboy. But Ben is showing Olivia another side of himself and it’s way too tempting to pass up. Highly recommended to those who enjoy hockey and contemporary romance! |
I won't lie this book was a fun read. These two going back and forth was very entertaining. Ben's whole predicament was really quite inventive. I didn't really understand the WHY but it was still kept me entertained. I have enjoyed getting to know each sibling more and more with each installment and I can't wait for the next one. Ben was more than I expected and I loved him. Olivia was the perfect match for his charming self. She was strong enough to withstand some of his charm, but not all. This is the second book in this series but it can be read on its own. I would definitely recommend this book and very much this series to any who love a great sports romance. |
There is just something about reading a hockey romance during the Stanley Cup Finals that makes me giddy inside. Maybe This Love by Jennifer Snow has all of the makings for a quick, sweet read. Ben Westmore is the stereotypical professional jock. A skirt-chaser with an ego the size of California, Ben loves and leaves a trail of women behind wherever he goes. One New Year's Eve, drunk from drowning his sorrows, Ben has the crazy idea to get married. Unfortunately, the details of his marriage are a bit fuzzy. All he knows is that he wants a quickie divorce because being married was not in his plans. Enter Olivia Davis. Smart, independent, beautiful, Olivia is also the attorney representing Ben's impulse bride. Olivia has reasons why she is THE attorney that pro sport wives use when they leave their jock husbands. Her career has been the focus of her life. Relationships, either casual or committed, have taken a backseat. That won't stop Olivia from having the one thing she has always wanted... a family. When Ben and Olivia meet, the sparks immediately start to fly. Ben wants Olivia. Olivia wants a family. How will they find common ground? I enjoyed this book. My only complaint was with the sub-story of Ben's wife and their divorce. It was a little hard for me to believe, especially the ultimate outcome. That said, I would recommend Maybe This Love to anyone who enjoys hot hockey players and smart women!! Oh! Maybe This Love is the second book in the Colorado Ice series, but can totally be read as a stand alone! |
Panty Scorching 0 Angst 0 tissues - 0 Storyline - 3.5 Value - 3.5 Overall - 3.5 Kindle ebook provided by Netgalley God how I wanted to love this book......I truly did. It had all the right moving pieces...hot hockey player, hot female lead, good twist....all the right pieces. But once the story starting going, those pieces just did not fit well together, for me anyway. Olivia Davis is a lawyer, not just any lawyer though...she is one of the best around and she just got a case involving a famous hockey player who evidently had a wild night out a few months back and doesn't remember getting married to her new client she is representing. As if she doesn't have enough on her plate....you see she is in the process of invitro. Now, she does not have a husband. Nor a boyfriend...yep, she is single and feels she is getting too old and decides to have a child on her own. Enter Ben Westmore....hot hockey god and new husband....so it seems. He remembers being drunk...really drunk and well that is about it. After his lawyer does some digging, he realizes what a mistake he made and goes to meet with the woman and her lawyer. Naturally Olivia and Ben are instantly attracted to each other and both are finding it hard to stay away. I liked the story up to that point. It then got weird because Ben's new wife was someone from grade school that got picked on and she was basically blackmailing him to help her son play hockey...this storyline made no sense and I wasn't sure where it was going and at the same time Ben aka Mr. Committment Phobe was ga-ga over Olivia and her invitro/baby scenerio. It just didn't work for me. I wanted hot hockey player falls for lawyer her cant have but it just had these weird side stories that did not fit in at all and I felt took away from their potential hot story. The book kinda lost me at that point although I did finish it out of curiosity but was not what I thought it was going to be. :-( |
Ben Westmore is a player in every sense of the word, and his success as the captain of his NHL team leaves him with no shortage of willing women to keep him company. He wasn't always so commitment- averse though; one woman broke his heart years ago and made him vow to avoid all serious relationships again afterward. When bitter memories of his past thrown in his face coupled with too much alcohol on one fateful night in Vegas, he soon finds out what happens in Sin City doesn't always stay there and he has to face the ramifications of his actions. Olivia Davis is a woman with a plan: continue her successful career as a lawyer and build herself a family, with or without the assistance of a man. She has been on her own for far too long and she has a lot of love to give, so when she takes steps to put her plan into motion she is determined to make it a success. Sexy players who look like they stepped out of her imagination as her dream man personified have no place in her future, but dang he sure makes her want to change her mind! Given Olivia's position as opposing counsel in his legal proceedings, fraternizing with the enemy so to speak could cost her everything. The more she tries to keep her distance, the harder he makes it though. It is easy to see that Ben is genuinely a good guy no matter how much she would rather vilify him. Then when she meets various members of his family, many of whom would love to play matchmaker, she finds herself falling just a bit deeper in spite of herself. She puts up a good fight but Ben has never been one to let anything stand in the way of pursuing what he wants so it is just a matter of time before he changes her mind. Olivia may be torn between her well-planned out future and the alternate but appealing path Ben is offering her, but she is a very likable character who can easily hold her own in a man's world and who keeps Ben on his toes. For his part, Ben does pretty well in the romance department even though he is a bit rusty at it, and he is definitely a good guy with just enough edge to keep me interested. If you love a great slow burn romance with some serious UST, a minimal amount of angst and a little humor, then you definitely want to grab a copy of Maybe This Love! |
Another sexy, hockey playing Westmore knocks our socks off in the next book in Jennifer Snow's Colorado Ice series! This family is fun, down-to-earth and a pleasure to spend time with. The connection between Ben and Olivia was sweet ... it might not have enthralled me quite as much as Jackson's story did previously, but was a fast paced joy to read! Looking forward to Asher's story! Colorado Avalanche captain Ben Westmore's partying has finally caught up to him! His love 'em and leave 'em, every night is a party attitude has kept him company for years, but after a night he doesn't remember in Vegas comes back to haunt him, he decides to lay low for awhile ... and get it taken care of FAST! Attorney Olivia Davis has decided to move forward with her goal of having a family even if she is still single. The last thing she needs is a woman loving playboy trying out his smooth moves on her! She has to admit though ... the guy she sees is front of her is so not what she expected! He's kind, generous, loving to his family ... how can she resist him?? |
4.5 Stars! Ben Westmore is a hockey player who has the player image down to an art. One thing he usually rarely, if ever does, is drink....except this one night in Vegas, on New Years Eve...and for celebrities and famous athletes, what happens in Vegas, unfortunately does not stay in Vegas. It's now four month's down the road, Ben's the Captain of the team, which brings with it a lot of responsibility and pressure. It's time for playoffs, a time when he needs to focus the most, when what happened in Vegas pretty much jumps up and bites him in the butt, and unfortunatley, he has very little memory of it. Olivia Davis has established herself as a very prominent attorney who specializes in divorce cases, usually defending professional athletes' "soon to be ex-wifes." Her career has been her focus for most of her adult life. She just hasn't had time for relationships and one bad burn from the only relationshipo she did have, has left her a bit gun shy. Now at 36, she's realized she wants a family, or a baby I should say. This to, she has determined to do on her own, which is what brought her to where she now resides. The situation and circumstances which have brought Ben and Olivia together are not the best, but the chemistry between them is undeniable. Unfortunately, they must deny their attraction, of course, but fate seems to keep throwing them together taking them for one whirlwind of a ride. They have a lot to work through, both individually and as a couple, if they even consider making a go of it, and when the past comes back to haunt them, well.......let's just say that "someone's got a lot of splaining to do." Maybe This Love is a fun, sweet, sexy romance which has its share of heated moments both physically, which is always hot, and emotionally, where the " hot" is brought on by heated tempers, but it all makes for a really good read. The book is the second in the series, but is easily read as a standalone, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you are looking to slip into a little weekend getaway that is fun, entertaining, and has that romance that is just like the cherry on top of an icecream sundae, then you'll want to check out Maybe This Love by Jennifer Snow. |
Ben is a professional hockey player, who has skills on and off the ice. He knows he can have any woman he wants and quite often he takes advantages of it. When he suddenly hears what he had done on New year’s Eve, he’s in big trouble and needs a lawyer to take care of the situation. He’s not a big drinker, but a moment from his past hit him hard and drunken night out led to a mistake he never meant to make. Olivia is a divorce attorney for professional athletes and she’s worked hard to get where she’s now. Concentrating on work didn’t leave time for her personal life, but being in her 30-s, she longs for a family, especially because she doesn’t have any family members herself. When Ben and Olivia meet there’s instant chemistry, but considering the circumstances, they just can’t be together at the time. Fate on the other hand has other plans and they start to bump into each other and as they spend more time in each other’s present, feelings are starting to develop. It was my first book by Jennifer Snow and even though it’s the second book in the series it can be read as a standalone. I really enjoyed this book and I definitely want to read about the other Westmore brothers. It’s a well written book that makes you devour this sweet romance. It has a great storyline, characters and romance. I loved seeing both main characters open up to each other and working through their issues towards the ir happily ever after. I’m really happy I decided to read this book, because I found a new author whose work I enjoy. |
Ben is the oldest of the Westmores - He's always been the serious one, only concentrating on the game. He doesn't have time for love and he likes his life, being able to get any woman he wants. But all of a sudden Ben finds himself in quite the predicament. It's play-off season again and now he finds out he's married? WTH?! On a drunken New Years Eve, it seems he married a girl he didn't even know. Or so he thinks. But it's not the girl that he married that has him in knots in the woman who is representing her in his divorce! There is an instant connection between Olivia Davis and himself and it's one he just doesn't think he can ignore. Why did Ben Westmore have to walk into her office? Just when she's decided to give up on her Happily Ever After and reach for her goal herself, the suave and gorgeous Ben Westmore comes into her office and knocks her off her feet. But it's all wrong... it can't work between the two of them can it? I loved this book. Ben turns on the charm and makes this a super fun read. I love this series and can't wait for the rest of the books in the series. |
Maybe This Love by Jennifer Snow is a super sweet romance. No one is perfect and it just takes the right kind of girl to help a sexy hockey player find his way. I thought this was a fun read with plenty of steamy and seductive scenes. Although Ben and Olivia seem to be on different pages as to what they want, their attraction to each other has other ideas. It's the kind of romance that makes you want to go out and find your own hockey player. |
4 stars Maybe This Love was a sweet and entertaining read. The storyline held my interest, the characters were likable and relatable and I enjoyed watching them come together. Ben and Olivia entertained me while I got to know them and while I did find myself a little frustrated with some things, it wasn't enough to take away from my overall enjoyment. The Colorado Ice series has been a fun and enjoyable read, each book can be read as a standalone and I highly recommend them. *Buy The Book Here* Amazon: http://amzn.to/2r0Nmmn Barnes & Noble: http://bit.ly/2qss30z Target: http://bit.ly/2r0Tyux Books-A-Million: http://bit.ly/2r0SRRQ Powell's: http://bit.ly/2q46xOx IndieBound: http://bit.ly/2pl2q1H Kobo: http://bit.ly/2q3JaoE *Thank you to Forever Romance via Netgalley for the advance copy.* |
Maybe This Love is the second book in this series. It follows Ben and Olivia. I thought I would give this book a chance, after finishing the first one. I liked Ben in this book. Ben is the oldest of the Westmore clan and has been playing in the league the longest. He is also supposedly the biggest play-boy, egomaniac. I just kind of felt that he was a bit misunderstood, and that the only thing that really made him seem like a play-boy was his ring tone on his phone. I found that Ben was a total sweetheart, that kind of found him in a sticky situation. I'm not sure if I liked Olivia or not, even by the end and I'm still not sure. I kind of found her a bit judgemental. And her back and forth gave me whiplash. I thought that this was a nice addition to the series. I always love seeing the Westmore boy's together and love their family dynamics. There was some inconsistency with some the time hockey playoff timeline. I'm giving this book 3.5 Stars out of 5!!!! |
I love when a book comes together with great characters, chemistry, nice storyline, and laughs. This is what you get when you read Maybe This Love. I was drawn to this book by the words Colorado and hockey. I am a fan of hockey. It is the only sport that I watch. Living in Colorado, I can remember when the Colorado Avalanche first came on the scene with Patrick Roy, Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg, and Adam Foote to name a few. So, you can imagine by delight when I discovered that Ben was the captain of the Avalanche in this book. That fact won him major brownie points in my book. Additionally, it did not hurt that Ben was easy on the eyes. Olivia had me from the first moment she was introduced. She is a woman who is comfortable in her own skin. Confidence is the best thing women can have. Olivia shows that if you have confidence it does not matter what size you are. The ripping she gave Ben was funny. Yet, he could take it and dish it back. Their playful banter helped spark the chemistry between them even more. One of my favorite scenes was when Olivia was taking a ice skating lesson from Ben. In that moment it was just the two of them. Author, Jennifer Snow has gained a new fan in me. |
3.5 Stars Just when you think you have life all figured out, it starts to spin out of control. Now if you can stop it in the right spot though, you might just find what you never thought you were looking for. Ben had it all figured out. After giving love a solid shot and having it blow up in his face, he had decided he was find without commitment. It is never easy as a NHL player anyway, all that time on the road and the woman throwing themselves at you. When he finds himself in need of a lawyer, the last thing he ever expected across the room was Olivia. Something about this woman drew him in from the very beginning. Sure he new it was a bad idea. But he kept putting himself out there. Needing to get to know her better. Olivia was taking her life in her own hands. Who needs a man to have a family? She is career focused, but nobody said she couldn't have a child and make her life what she wanted. She feels the attraction and chemistry but she can't follow on it. But the more she is around Ben the less her strength is. Soon she finds herself being wooed by him but can she believe he as truly changed. Can she live the life of the woman left at home while he is away playing games? Can he love again? Will she be willing to put herself out there? Could this be the love that changes two people for life? Could there be a family in the near future? This book was a nice romantic read. I did find it took a little bit to pull me in and want to know what was happening. I enjoyed the characters and the secondary characters let you know that there is more to come with this series. *** Advanced copy provided in exchange for an honest review. *** |
My 4 star review is posted on Goodreads and will be posted on blog and social media upon release and links will be updated at that time:. UPDATED 5/30/17 4 stars Ben Westmore has been a confirmed playboy bachelor for years. He is captain of the Colorado Avalanche and they are just about to start play offs for the Stanley Cup. He needs all of his focus to finally achieve this dream. But all of a sudden he is faced with some big distractions. He finds out that a recent trip to Vegas with a bit too much alcohol has left him in a vulnerable position and he needs a lawyer. And turns out the opposing counsel sparks reactions in him that he cannot deny. Big distractions he does not need. Olivia Davis is a work-a-holic divorce attorney. She is driven, tough, untrusting, but has her own vulnerability and loneliness. She is making plans for her future that does not involve a man. But she cannot deny the fact that Ben Westmore is an attractive one. No matter how much of a player she thinks he is. Their situation is messy and complicated. They alternate between dynamic banter that is antagonistic, flirty, humorous, and sweet. But for once, Ben is interested in the challenge and chase. And Olivia does her best at avoidance and guarding herself, but Ben can be persuasive when he sets a goal for himself. They have undeniable chemistry, but they are definitely distractions to each other's current goals. Not to mention the unprofessionalism of it all. Ben is determined not to choke this time in the play offs, and surprisingly he is finding it just as important not to let her down. The longstanding commitment phobe does not seem to be as terrified when it comes to her. For once he can just be himself. But his reputation proceeds him and does not invoke trust. And there is a chance that being with Olivia could be even more commitment than he was ever planning on. She has her dreams. He has his. But could they co-exist? This is an easy, funny, sweet, passionate love story that mixes up various popular romance tropes and mixes them all together. It has likable characters in a close knit community. I enjoyed more with his family Jackson and Abby, Becky and Neil, Asher, and his friend, Owen who is now the team mascot. And their mom is a scene stealer for sure. I love their interactions with each other and how close they all are. I really adored Ben. I loved his sense of humor, and seeing him grow and begin to look at life in a different way. And Olivia was a good match for him. This one is about finding what you need when you least expect it, and believing in yourself and the other person. They both needed validation, and were afraid of rejection and hurt. But sometimes dreams can grow and change, and some things are worth the fight. But Ben has a big fight on his hands both for the cup and for the girl and the future he never thought he would want. I am looking forward to more in this series with Owen and Asher. |
3.5 Stars This is a quick, somewhat predictable read. The plot and how the main characters met are unique though. Even though the characters from book one are in this book, it can be read as a standalone. Ben is a really good guy in a bad situation. He is super sweet and very grounded even though he’s a famous hockey player. Other than the few texts he received, his ‘player’ personality doesn’t really show. I’d call him more of a commitment-phobe and that’s with good reason. Olivia is a bit confusing. She’s making a life altering decision even though she hasn’t really even tried to be in a relationship with a man. She makes several unethical decisions where Ben is concerned and she’s a bit wishy-washy at times. I don’t feel like their story is over so I’m actually hoping they show up in the next book. I’m assuming the next book will be about Asher and there was a bit of foreshadowing with him in this one. The writing was pretty good but I’m a huge hockey fan and there were a couple of inaccuracies about the playoffs that bugged me a little. 1) The 2nd round of the playoffs is the semi-finals which would lead to the conference finals, not the cup finals. 2) If Colorado was home for the first game of the cup finals, then they would stay at home for game 2, not go on the road. The format is 2-2-1-1-1. 3) There is never a shootout in overtime in the playoffs; they play until someone wins. Overall, this book is as good as book one and if you’re looking for a quick, albeit predictable, romance story this would be a good book for you. |
As most know, I worked for the Dallas Stars hockey team from 1999-2004. I saw them win the Cup and then to watch in horror as Scott Stevens, Captain of the New Jersey Devils skate the Cup in our arena when they beat us. To say that I’m a hockey fan would be an understatement. So going into this series I realized that Ben played for the Colorado Avalanche (GAG!!!) and Asher played for the Devils (Double GAG!) and that I might have a problem cheering for them in their stories. Ms. Snow knows her hockey and she doesn’t over do the hockey part of the story. Whew! Thank goodness for that. However, I did like and appreciate her knowledge of the Cup, the keeper, and the superstitions. In fact, the Stanley Cup finals are playing right now. Go Nashville! I also enjoyed seeing Jackson’s decision in Ben’s eyes and how Asher is doing. Can’t wait to read his book next. While the hockey references were great, the romance between Ben and Olivia sparkled. I don’t think that I’ve ever read a romance where the hero had to work so hard for the heroine. At times, I felt like Olivia pushed him away too much but once she was all in…she was in. There isn’t much angst or conflict, just two people that aren’t really ready for love but it somehow finds them. The pregnancy thread was real. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t get the ending that I wanted. However, watching Ben with Olivia at the bookstore was cute, funny and of so real. My own husband was like that. LOL! Plus, I was a first-time mother at age 38 so the whole thread was a little too real but Ms. Snow handled it well. Again, the romance in the book is off the charts. Ben has to work hard to win Olivia and the end, it was sweet. The driving lesson in the Hummer was the funniest thing in the book. Or maybe seeing Abigail and Becky gang up on Ben. Not sure but those two women had his number…good. Overall, I love this series. I’ve read a lot of books so far this year and Ben Westmore is my favorite hero right now. Captain of the Avalanche no less…just don’t tell anyone. I have a rep to protect. I can’t wait to see how Ms. Snow is going to tell Asher and Emma’s story. |
Seeing Ben lose control and fall in love was great. Ben is a great guy. He is funny, sexy, charming and sweet. He is kind and caring as well. but he was hurt in the past and now doesn’t believe love is in his future so seeing him start to have feelings for the lawyer stopping him for getting a divorce and having her fight him not only on the divorce but in love was great. Olivia is trying to create a family for herself. She is alone and feeling lost. She is also a great divorce attorney and was always taught she can do anything herself with needing to ask for help. when she meets Ben her first impression is that of a playboy who is just like every other athlete. But there is a insane sizzle between them. You feel it though the pages of the book. She feels and so does Ben except she won’t acknowledge it like he does. At first it is Ben being all flirty and trying to charm her but having it not work. than something changes and we see them not fighting the attraction. When this happens we get some seriously romantic and steamy moments. I love seeing Ben’s interaction with his family and how they keep him grounded. Also how he cares for those around him. He treats everyone with respect and gives his all to what he does. Seeing him let stress affect him was hard. But watching him pursue Olivia and realize he was in love was so fun and entertaining. this was a great book. It was nicely paced and the characters are ones to fall in love with. Watching Ben fall in love was great and seeing Olivia finally give in was awesome. Seeing their story play out and how they learned to trust and believe in the other was wonderful. I didn’t enjoy at the end when Olivia was stubborn but Ben did such a swoony gesture and showed himself that he can overcome anything to keep on track and win in all aspects of his world and that was worth it. A swoony end to a fun entertaining book. |
I absolutely loved books 1 and 2 in this series. And I was greatly looking forward to Ben's story in Maybe This Love. And honestly, the ONLY reason I finished the book and didn't DNF is because I was invested in Ben. But Maybe This Love, was a disappointment. Yes, it's fiction, but the ethical and legal liberties taken by Ms. Snow around Ben's divorce and Olivia's involvement were way too much for me. Especially since Olivia's whole world was her legal career. I'm hopeful that this is just a mere blip and that the next story will be significantly more believable. |
