Two teen age girls are found in the woods beaten badly, one dead, one barely alive. A father is notified and spends all his time with the girl in the hospital. He then discovers she is not his daughter, but her best friend. I won't go any further into the plot because of spoilers, but this is a complex and well written odyssey of a man's search for his child and the person or persons who took her. It involves murder, abuse and is a psychological and procedural thriller that will captivate most readers. Thanks to Net Galley and Berkeley for an ARC for an honest review.

Normally I avoid thrillers and whodunnits, not because I can’t “go there” emotionally but because the tropes and plot twists tend to be predictable, lame, contrived, or dependent on the protagonist doing something unbelievably, implausibly stupid.

This one drew me in because of two missing teenage girls, one found dead, one alive, and the father’s mission to solve a case that police could not. Sure enough, it’s the dad who finds out whodunit. He almost gets himself killed, and he almost kills the suspect before hearing what he needs to hear.

My least favorite trope: a protagonist goes off to confront a perp, without telling anyone else first where they're going, as if the perp will listen and convince the protagonist of his/her innocence, or confess and head off to prison, or say "Let's just keep this our little secret," and no harm comes to the protagonist.

David Bell writes well and knows how to keep readers turning pages. The dirty secrets of high school teenagers are eye-opening and just sad. The characters are hard to like, except for Paige, but no matter what, nobody deserves to be beaten and killed or left dying in the cold.

At times I started skimming and telling myself not to jump ahead to the ending. Now I wish I’d done just that. As other reviewers have pointed out, the ending is not much of a surprise. There are red herrings along the way, leading the reader to rule out who did what to whom, but seeing the pieces of the puzzle come together for Bill, the widowed father on a mission to find his 15-year-old daughter, puts the book at a level that's well above the daily crossword puzzle but far short of Dostoevsky.

Thank you Netgalley, and Berkley Pub for approving me to read and review this book, in exchange of an honest review. From now on, I’ll avoid whodunnits. Four thrillers in a row didn’t thrill me, in part because they live up to expectations of a genre that relies more on plot than character, and when the characters do ring true, they’re not merely flawed (which is a good thing, in literature) but so messed up, I wish I hadn’t spent hours of my life in their heads.

But don't listen to me. This author is a famous, best-selling writer, because millions of people buy and love books like these. I've just read too many other genres and too many classics that will stay with me longer than this sort of story does.

This story pulled me in right when I started reading. A few girls were missing, one found dead, beaten to death and a second still alive although severely beaten. The father, single since the death of his wife a year and a half earlier, tries to do everything for his daughter, the girl found alive. The twists and turns are amazing,as what we think is happening changes completely. I do not want to give away what happens, it is too awesome when you read it! Just pick up this book to read, the story will pull you along like a run away train. I received a copy of an arc from Netgalley, the author David Bell and publisher Berkley Pub,thanks very much for giving me the chance to read this outstanding story!

BRING HER HOME by David Bell. The story grabs you from the first, with Bill losing his wife 1 1/2 years ago. To now his 15 year year old daughter in critical condition, in hospital. So beaten, is it Summer, her best friend Haley didn't make it. They didn't drive yet, had friends that were boys, but no one special. The secrets the living and the dead had. Bill goes to were homeless people are, by chance he finds a bracket, that once belong to Summer's mother. Bill questions, was it really his daughter, and trying to figure out, who could do such a ghastly crime. The questions aren't answered till the end, story moves along at a good pace. Good thriller, another good story by David .Bell. Given ARC by Net Galley for my voluntary review and ,my honest opinion.

This was a good, but not great read. The main character bordered on unbelievable in his actions as half crazed father of a missing daughter. However, the book had some interesting twists and although I thought I had the culprit figured out, I was only partially correct. So, kudos to the author for keeping me guessing until the end.

Bring Her Home is an amazing thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I read this way too late into the night because I couldn't stop reading it! There are so many twists in this book, you won't know what to expect. I love books that keep you guessing and aren't predictable. The characters in Bring Her Home are very well written as is the plotline. If you are a fan of suspenseful thrillers, you need to read Bring Her Home!

I rated this book 3/5 stars which to me is still a good book. I enjoyed the story and it kept me guessing (huge plus for me). I did feel as though we were just thrown a bunch of information at the end to kind of sum everything up and just be done. I am a fan of the other David Bell work I've read before and this one is the same. An enjoyable mystery!

This is by far the best mystery I have read in a while. He really takes you on the ride with dad Bill as he tries to find out what happened to his daughter Summer. I read this in one day. Could not put it down until I was finished. Highly recommend this book and this author!

This is a story about three girls who go missing. I don't want to ruin the story, by giving any details, in the event anyone wants to read it.The main character, Bill, was supposed to be a dad you felt sorry for, because his daughter was missing. I, however, found him totally unsympathetic as a character. I also found several inconsistencies throughout the story, which really bothered me. I'm not sure if this was simply poor editing, but certainly the author deserves the lions share of the blame for this. While the storyline did hold my interest, it got too convoluted, when it turned out there were multiple "bad guys" and the stories were not actually connected.

David Bell is a great author who has a strong repertoire of work to back up his writing talent. In this book, he continues to show off those skills with a twisting plot and a mysterious story line of what happened to two teenage girls.

The story moves very slowly and drops breadcrumbs of hints along the way to a satisfying conclusion. There are some obvious plot points that you should see coming a mile away and if you read enough mysteries you won’t be overly shocked at who the villain turns out to be because Bell provides some pretty strong indications early on. However that doesn’t mean you still shouldn’t give this book a shot because it becomes more about how he is going to unwind the story. He drops so many clues throughout that SOMETHING bad happened your attention is hooked through the end so you can find out what and why even if you already know the who. The last clues to the motivation of the crime won’t even be revealed until nearly the end so make sure to stick with it to get the whole picture.

It reminded me of some episodes I had seen in CSI or CSI Criminal Intent where you know who did it right when the episode started but the motivation is strung out through the episode. Those worked because it’s basic human nature to want to know the why; we aren’t content with just hearing that someone died and someone killed them. That is the crux in a jury trial and what lawyers are always trying to convey to the jury in order to free their client or punish the alleged criminal – juries need to know WHY it was done in order to make a decision of innocence or guilt. If you keep that in mind when you read this book, even if you discover the who early on, then your attention won’t waver as your need to discover the why clicks in.

Bell’s character development is thorough as you’ll both hate and emphasize with the characters throughout the story depending upon the scenes, settings and how much information you’ve garnered about them. It’s easy to think that any of us would behave differently in similar circumstances, a point the father Bill even brings up to a detective, reminding us until you’re actually going through those emotions it’s best not to judge. If you’re a parent, get ready for some of your worst fears to be brought to the surface.

His writing flows so well you’ll find yourself flipping through chapters without realizing how far you’ve read in your quest to discover the answers. It doesn’t help that nearly every chapter has cliffhanger like qualities at its conclusion forcing you to keep reading because no one likes to stop when new information has just been dangled in front of their attention span like meat before a dog.

Get ready to set some time aside so you can binge your way through this and discover how evil humanity can become when it feels threatened.

BRING HER HOME is David Bell's newest mystery thriller and I happily locked myself away with my advance copy sent to me by Berkeley Publishing Group.

David Bell is known for writing slow paced, extremely descriptive rather long novels. This allows the reader to really get to know the characters and attempt to solve the mystery along with the characters. We get to know the people intimately and feel what they are feeling.

BRING HER HOME is the story of a father of a teenage girl who has gone missing with her best friend. He lost his wife the previous year and still hasn't recovered from her loss. The twists and turns in this novel are amazing. Bell quite simply outdid himself.

If you enjoy thrillers, move this to the top of your tbr list. It's scheduled for release 7/11/17. You might also want to check out David Bell's interview if you missed it. Click over to the Authors Page for the date (and to see who else you may have missed).

Anyone who has read my blog, or follows me on Instagram, Knows that David Bell is one of my favorite author's and most recommended as well. I have read and own every book he has written. That being said, this is his best book, to date.

My heart is still pounding, and not just from the ending, but from the entire book. From start to finish, this book takes you on a ride. Your heart hurts reading it, you will think you have it figured out, you will think you know what happened to Summer and Haley, think again.

This is the kind of book that sticks with you, you will remember this book, and you will tell your friends to read it. You will be drawn in, and you will feel yourself fighting right alongside Bill, to get answers. As a parent, this book touches on one of my worst fears, and it will yours too.

This book is a bestseller, and I love that I get to watch the journey before its even on sale. Guys, July 11th. Buy this book, better yet go preorder it on Amazon, its only $8

I've been a fan of the author since his debut and have read either all or all but one of his books. He started off so promisingly, but then seems to have discovered a trade formula and went with that. Which is reasonably and works for some, so long as the quality is maintained, which hasn't quite been the case for Bell consistently. This one, specifically, comes across phoned in. From the utterly generic title to the twist so predictable and suspect revealed so early on...it just seems somewhat lazy. Set entirely in one timeline, this one doesn't even try to do the secrets from the past part of the formula, it's pretty straight forward a murder/possible murder/kidnapping sort of story as one father frantically plays detective to find his teenage daughter. The story might have been so easily improved upon had Bell took the time to actually create a mystery that is, you know, mysterious. Or create a stronger more believable antagonist. The book reads well enough, the author is by now competent enough to create a fast paced domestic thriller in his sleep, probably, but the lack of suspense (so freaking obvious) or any sort of originality doesn't make it a particularly thrilling one. Fast read, entertaining enough minus the insult to intelligence, but a disappointing one for an author who can and has done more. Genre fans might enjoy this with expectations adjusted sufficiently. Thanks Netgalley.

**Thanks to NetGalley for giving me a complimentary e-copy of BRING HER HOME in exchange for my honest review**

Two battered teenagers were found in the woods. One dead. One in a coma. Bill, relieved that Summer didn't suffer the same fate as her best friend Haley, wants the perpetrators caught. Then another teen is revealed to be missing. Suddenly everyone is suspect and Bill is ready to beat the answers out if anyone who may know something.

BRING HER HOME started off slowly with an obvious plot twist that I hoped wasn't the end of the story. Fortunately, after that non-mystery was revealed a third of the way into the book, David Bell had me hooked. I NEEDED to know the fate of the girls.

Bill isn't the most likable guy, but he is sympathetic. Still reeling from his wife's accidental death eighteen months earlier, he can't lose Summer too. He continually allowed emotion to thwart his efforts for answers, but who knows how anyone would react in such a situation.

I've read several of Bell's previous novels, and BRING HER HOME is my favorite. I loved the multidimensional layers of resolution to the mysteries and the surprises about who did what and why.

I wish Bell had made the first section less obvious, the book blurb didn't help. Still, I strongly recommend BRING HER HOME for mystery lovers.

Breathtaking new thriller, one sees those words many times when reading synopsis of new books and one says “Oh yeah, bet it doesn't live up to all the hype”. OMGoodness, I could not put the book down. The characters were all so reliable, you could feel their sorrow and pain and anger and guilt and love. The chapters just flowed into another and I just had to know what would happen next. I don't know how Mr. Bell kept up the pace. Each of the chapters seemed to end with a cliffhanger. Every time I thought I knew where the story was going, it went another way. All the clues were there but they had a different meaning than I thought. However, everything came together in the end.

Definitely recommend this book and I will be looking for Mr. Bell's backlist and future books.

Thank you to the publisher, Mr. Bell and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview this breathtaking thriller!

Two girls, best friends have disappeared. Now they have been found badly beaten, one is dead and the other is in a coma. Bill Price gets the news that his daughter is the survivor. It’s only been a little over a year since his wife and his daughter’s mother died in a freak accident. It’s almost too much for him to bear. But things are about to get worse when it’s revealed that the girl in the coma is not Summer after all, but her best friend. But the dead girl isn’t Summer either. So where is the teenage girl? There are plenty of suspects including a group of creepy, sex hungry teenage boys and Bill’s next-door neighbor who seems a little too interested in the whole thing for Bill’s liking.David Bell gets better with each book and this one definitely kept me guessing
