Review:

I actually had lot of fun reading this one. The plot is fresh and invigorating, bith in terms of characters, the narration and the chemistry of all that. The plot definitely keeps you enegaged till the very end. The characterisation is real and involved with the elements of the plot and the chemistry of the lead characters is simply off-the-chart. Thenpresence of secondary characters and their individuality helps in balancing the plot and keeps it from becoming one of those heavily-lusted books.

While the title is sumbiotic with the plot, I do not understand why the cover jmage has to resemble some kind of poster advertisement for a clothing line, instead of being real with the story.

My rating: 4 out of 5

Meh...I didn't love this one as much as the first book in this series. I found it eye-rolling that Beth would keep it a secret that Cord was her brother for 80% of the book. Then again I am not crazy about the whole "my sibling has a say in who I date" trope. Or the ridiculous "bro code" shit that gets spouted around in these types of books. I can't even imagine for one-second caring who one of my siblings dated.

Hopefully, the next book is better.

A former military team turned cowboys to help other veterans reintegrate back into society. They transform a family farm into barracks for men and women to come to after leaving the military, to find themselves and work through any issues they may have.

The farm actually belongs to Brick and his brother, Stone. They take the other team members on as equal partners to help with the construction and therapies offered. The farm is free to veterans. Brick and his friends own and run a construction company to bring in much needed funds for the farm.

Cord is Brick’s best friend. They’ve been there for each other since they met in basic training.

Beth is an event planner, and Cord’s little sister. She goes out to the local saloon one night for a much needed break and meets a sexy cowboy that she spends the weekend with and then they go their separate ways. No last names exchanged.

Fast forward 2 weeks, they run into each other again. Sparks are still flying and they start seeing each other. Lots of steamy sex scenes but I would have liked to seen more interaction between them outside the sex scenes. When Beth discovers that Brick is one of Cord’s Ranger buddies, she hides the truth from both of them knowing it would be the end of the relationship. I struggled a bit with her keeping it secret so long but sort of understood why.

Cord was a little over the top protective of his baby sister. Brick’s pouting after the blow up was a bit much for a former Ranger. What a great cast of supporting characters. I loved Jovy for forcing the issue! It looks like Cord’s story is up next!

This is my first book in this series and I easily read it as a standalone. Although I am interested in going back for Stone’s story. I look forward to continuing this series.

Military men seem to have a code for everything. Most are easily understood but when it's not allowed to date a buddy's sister that is a hard one to follow. A quick weekend hookup should have been forgotten but something happened when Brick and Beth accidentally meet again, fireworks galore. While the ending is predictable the adventure there is fun, sexy and a little crazy. Each of the men at the ranch have a story to be told but these could be read independently, except the characters reappear. Like the adorable cow crushing on Stone who is constantly jealous of Jovy. Michaels wrote a fun series that can be enjoyed in an evening and leaves us wanting more stories. I received an advanced copy from Netgalley.

This second installment in The Men of At Ease Ranch was awesome! Along with excellent writing and intriguing characters, there is a great story that will keep you turning the pages. The usually straight laced Beth Brannigan decides just this once to let loose and have a little fun with the very sexy Brick Mitchum. Never expecting to see him again she's surprised when she runs into him when she returns to her hometown to handle a short term project. Beth is excited to be back and wants to see her brother but having a little more fun with Brick would be nice too. That is until those two worlds collide in spectacular fashion!

An excellent quick read that I would highly recommend.

When Brick and Beth starts a relationship Brick don't know that Beth is his best friends sister and Beth don't know that her brother is Brick's friend. There's a code and they both know about it........what happens when the truth comes out, because it is bound to come out at some point, isn't it?

I love this book, although I wanted to scream at Beth at times to come clean with the guys.

Beth and Brick's connection is so well described with so much feelings that I had tears in my eyes. The author has a way of writing that pulls me in to the story and keeps a hold on my brain, heart and soul. I laughed, cried and felt like I was beside the characters in the story.

The storyline is good and the writing style makes it easy to read. It doesn't make it less easy with all the dialogues, which I alway enjoy.

The love scenes was great and hot but still the author made them full of sweetness so it was a perfect mix in my opinion.

In addition to a wonderful love story this is also a story about the unique connection forming between people serving their country and facing challenges together. The respect some of them have for each other can last long after their home. At Ease Ranch is a place where they come together to live, work and support each other.

I'm fully prepared for Cord and his history with Haley, and that's what I also love about this series is that I get a little hint of the next story(hopefully)

This is a great second book in the Men of At Ease Ranch. Not necessary to read the first book but you will recognize character and know about them by reading it first. Beth is in town to plan her friend's wedding. While there she hooks up with Brick, a local cowboy. It's laid back and just sex till it's not an they start spending more time together. When Beth realizes Brick works with her brother, she starts to freak out as there's an unwritten pact about not dating your military brother's sister. So Beth lies and then has a hard time trying to see both her brother and Brick at separate times. Disaster strikes but it was a great read getting there. I love how Donna introduces the two characters for her next book but it's done quietly.

This was a cute story! And I do love a hero that is all-in, as doesn't dither about wanting to be in a relationship. However, the bro-code annoyed me while building up to the story's climax. As a brother, Cord would forfeit his sister and his best friend's happiness over your dumb code? There was a good grovel at the end, so all was not lost. The secondary characters were really fun and it was nice to see that the folks on the ranch all really cared about each other. I haven't read the first in the series, and this worked as a standalone for me.

Her Secret Ranger by Donna Michaels is Book 2 of The Men of At Ease Ranch Series. While this story is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone.

Hawt dayum this book is absolutely scrumptious! Cowboys/rangers and a best friend’s sister troupe make this perfect combo of a read. The connection between Brick and Beth is sizzling hot and will suck you in from page one. Nicely done Ms. Michaels.

Please note that an ARC was generously provided in exchange for an honest review of which this is both honest and completely voluntary.

This book reminded me so much of another series that is similar yet slightly different too. I love reading about military men and this one is a great addition to this series of these hot, yet wary men.

This story is told mainly from Beth's POV but we also get the guys insight too. The author adds fuel to the flame in a quick manner and the pages are lit up with hot action and drool worthy descriptions that capture your attention. This book was difficult to put down so I was happy I was able to read it all in one shot. A great read with plenty of action and interest.

While I have not read part one, I was not at a loss. It as easy to follow and yet I want to go grab book one. I have a feeling that one also has sparks flying!

I loved book 1 of the series, In a Ranger’s Arms, and was looking forward to this one. I am sorry to say I was disappointed.
The story centers around Brick and Elizabeth (Lizzie/Beth), an assistant event planner whose brother, Cord, was an Army Ranger and who, with his buddies, is running a ranch for returned Vets. One of his buddies is Brick. They meet in a bar not knowing that Cord was a common denominator in their lives. Cord has kept Beth/Lizzie away from his buddies and they in turn have a rule , Do Not Date a buddy’s sister. Beth/Lizzie figures it out who Brick is 1/3 of the way through the story , but not Brick.
The 1st 1/4 of the book was good as was the last 1/5 of the book. In between, it was repetitive , lots of sex , more repetition, more sex, and Beth/Lizzie keeping secrets.
That said, I am looking forward to Cord’s story.
I was gifted this book by Netgalley and Entangled Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

The second instalment of Donna Michael’s “The Men of At Ease Ranch” continues the saga of a group of returned service men, with fractured souls, hearts as big as Texas and a determination to help others like themselves with demons on their shoulders and bitter memories of war torn countries.

Brick Mitchell earned the name “Romeo” through his ‘love `em once and leave `em’ policy, and has never apologised for his ways. But when the woman who claims his lips on a random dare turns out to be his weekend tryst from two weeks earlier, Brick is smitten. Beth Brannigan thought she’d never see the hunky Cowboy again, however the chemistry that was so all-consuming weeks ago has not abated, and letting this handsome man go may be harder than she realises.

Ms Michaels has penned a wonderful, heartfelt and sometimes frustrating account of two people drawn together, doing nothing wrong, but inevitably ripped apart by an inane Brotherhood code that forbids your buddy from fraternising with your female relative.

The first two stories in this fabulous series are the Mitchell brothers, Stone and Brick, but there’s still so much more to come and Cord Brannigan better watch out, as he is definitely on Ms Michaels` radar!

This book was really hot! I loved the interactions between Brick and Beth. There was a bit of mystery during the first part of the book when the reader realizes the common link between the two before Brick and Beth know. So you know fireworks are going to fly at some point. And boy do they, not just the hot sparks between Brick and Beth, but the tension between Beth and her brother. Can they all work it out or are they destined to never know how amazing true love can be?

By-the-book event planner Beth Brannigan’s best friend dared her to kiss a cowboy. She should have said no. Instead, she said please…again and again. If her brother finds out she’s dating—okay, kissing—okay, sleeping with—one of his military buddies, he’ll kill her. Assuming he doesn’t kill his friend first.

Former Army Ranger Brick Mitchum isn’t a relationship kind of guy. But then he meets Beth and starts to wonder if maybe it’s time he settled down. She’s mysterious. Unpredictable. Curvy in every way he needs… And hiding something. He’s just got to figure out what.

Brick is one of those guys that keeps everything close and that includes friends and family. Beth loves her brother, who also happens to be Brick's best friend and one of his Ranger buddies. A good part of this book is spent on some lovin' and I'm the type of person who likes some plot to my book, so this was an okay read for me. I must be in a book slump because lately all I'm reading is books that have nothing but sex and no plot. I want a good book with a plot. Throw in some sex and I'm good but if every other page is nothing but sex then I am like an ADHD kid hopped up without their meds...I'm skipping pages and jumping books back and forth. So why the 4 stars? I liked the writing overall and I can overlook the fact that it was overrun with sexual content. What I couldn't overlook was all the pouting Brick did because he couldn't date/sleep with his best friends sister when he thought she wronged him by keeping it a secret that she was "the secret sister." OH MY GOD MAN!!! Grow some man balls and grow up!! It's not the end of the everloving world or maybe it is because you're not getting your 20 times a day sex! LOL. All-in-all, if you want military turned cowboys in a sex-romp - this is the book for you.

I was given a copy of this ARC from the publisher on Netgalley for a honest review. All of the above comments are my express opinions and no one else's.

Her Secret Ranger is the second in the series. It's as sweet and sexy as the first.

Brick is an Army Ranger who, along with his Army buddies, have dedicated their life to help those struggling with PTSD and returning from war.

Brick and Beth have an immediate connection and don't waste time starting their relationship. They can't keep their hands off each other despite Beth knowing she shouldn't.

While I enjoyed the book I thought it could have used a stronger storyline in the beginning. It didn't have the same cuteness as the first book however the ending was perfect.

I was able to read an ARC for a honest review

This was a lighthearted, easy read. The cast of characters is interesting and promises plenty of stories to come. I liked the two main characters and enjoyed their interactions. I did find myself skimming the scenes where they weren't together, though, particularly where Beth was dealing with event planning stuff. I went back and read Stone and Jovy's story (the first book in the series), and I look forward to reading Cord's story, which sounds like it will be even better.

a well-developed romance. Good plot. Excellent writing.

I loved this! A great feel good romance with just enough drama not to be sappy.

When Beth, an event planner, had to travel back to her hometown for her friends wedding, she decides to throw caution to the wind and has a weekend affair with a handsome cowboy. No strings attached.

When she and her friend grab lunch at to county fair and runs into her brother, Cord, and is reminded why she doesn't do that ever. Because he is supremely overprotective and am ex Ranger. But he friend had picked up on a little something that she has kept secret. Therefore, a little game of truth or dare ensues and she ends up taking the dare. That's how she finds her way back into this cowboy's arm in a very heated kiss. His name is Brick.

She and Brick continue with their hot and steamy affair and are really enjoying each other and the fate drop kicks Beth for a loop when she finds out not only do Brick and her brother know each other but the served together and not only is Cord overprotective, but in no way would be be okay with her dating a military guy.

This gets really interesting and the feelings grow stronger but so does the danger of being found out .

I loved this book. It is a wonderful quick read. I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

3 stars... This had a couple of themes happening and all of them seemed to take over the story at different moments...
Overall, Brick was the most interesting and likeable. Our gal had issues which caused her to fib/lie about who she was and relating to the brother/friend...so that made it difficult for me to like her.
