Secret Cowboy Another awesome story about the men of At Ease Ranch! This is the first series that I've read by Donna, but it won't be the last. With the way the story unfolds one you start reading you cannot put it down until you reach the finale. Beth has returned to where her former Ranger brother has made a home for himself at the At Ease Ranch, for work and get best friends wedding. Being just one town away means she gets to see him more often than she has for the last few years. Now that she's back she ended up meeting up with her weekend hook-up from a few weekends ago, whom she had a fabulous time with. But she had a feeling he's former military so she doesn't mention him to get over-protective brother. While getting to know Brick outside of the bed she finds out he's a former Ranger, which means her brother and him have something in common and it might work in their favor, but then again Cord is very overly-protective of her. But do Brick and Cord have more in common than Beth knows? You'll have to read Her Secret Ranger to find out. I loved this story as well as the series, I cannot wait to see what happens next and get MORE Men of At Ease Ranch. Each story is it's own standalone story of the men on the ranch, you won't be lost if this were there first book of the series you decided to pick up. But with that being said you'd miss some background information from book about another couple who found their HEA. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this HEA via Tasty Book Tours through NetGalley for an honest blog tour review. Due to sexual situations and adult language this novel is recommended for readers 18 and older! Favorite Passage ~ “Can’t. It’s ingrained in me. Guess it’s a cross you’ll have to bear.” |
"Her Secret Ranger" by Donna Michaels. Beth and Brick are our lovely couple in this one and boy, are they smokin' HOT! Often, I had to turn on a fan while reading this one. To say they have chemistry is an understatement. On top of the sparks, there is a story that was enjoyable and easy to read. The development of the relationship from lust to more moves along at a believable pace and it was a fun journey. I truly liked both Beth and Brick, although I don't like when secrets are kept throughout and for that reason, Beth did irk me just a tiny bit. Ms. Michaels is truly talented when it comes to writing tales that are light and make you feel good, with a touch of angst, drama and heartbreak too. I certainly enjoyed this one and look forward to reading future works by this gifted author. (received copy from NetGalley for honest review) |

I received an ARC and I'm temporarily writing my review. When I read the blurb I couldn't wait to read it. It was OK, but it fell a bit short. This was a quick read and the romance was very fast paced. The amount of time they spent together was not enough to fall in love. This was also predictable, especially the ending. It did keep me interested though and I did enjoy it. I just needed more from the story. |
★★½ I liked the writing and the flow of the story, but I would hit my brothers really really hard if they would interfere in my love life like that and I'm sorry if the my boyfriend thinks some stupid bro code is more important than me, bye bye. Between those two men and Beth who was to soft for me, I just couldn't enjoy the story. |
3 stars This was an okay read for me. I thought there was a lot going on in this book (maybe a little bit too much), and then finally everything comes out in the open in the last 10% of the book. I thought the ending was rushed. I did like the storyline and the characters. I will continue on with this series because I think it has a lot of potential (and I want to read Cord's book). |

4.5 Stars Her Secret Ranger is the second title in The Men of At Ease Ranch, and features Brick Micham and Beth Brannigan as the hero and heroine. Brick's nickname is romeo, and its a well earned name as he is a womanizer and has never wanted to know a woman past a one night stand, until he meets Beth. Beth gets more than she bargained for when she plans her best friends wedding and meets Brick in a local bar and has a no strings weekend. Little does she know that they will cross paths once again when dared by her best friend to kiss the next cowboy she sees, or realize that he is her older brother's best friend whom he served with in the Rangers. This is a sexier, steamier read than the first title in the series, and many of the same endearing characters appear within this story line. I've got to say I really preferred this title to the first in the series and found Her Secret Ranger to be a fast paced, fun and flirty read. I really enjoyed the dual point of view, getting to see both Brick and Beth's thoughts as the book progressed. Both the hero and heroine were incredibly endearing, and realistically flawed. Their story was both entertaining and engaging and I look forward to reading Cord, Vince and Leo's stories in the future. |
Her Secret Ranger is the second book in The Men of At Ease Ranch series by Donna Michaels this is Beth and Brick's story. We met Brick in his brother Stone's book In a Ranger's Arms, he was quiet and brooding but there was something about him that had me intrigued. To me Donna Michaels writes in such a way that she makes her secondary and tertiary characters just as captivating as the main couple. Beth has an overbearing family...or should I say brother, and boss that would make most people quit. Wanting to take a little time for herself she cuts loose one weekend and has a two night stand with a HOT cowboy that she not only didn't exchange numbers with but she didn't even get his last name...she seriously never thought she would see him again, but sometimes fate interferes and brings the hotness back into your life for a reason. Brick aka Romeo NEVER sleeps with a women more than once because he has no intention of starting a relationship with anyone, well that is until he breaks his one night rule with a fiery redhead that he not only spends two nights in bed with but continues to think of her after she left town. This story has a little angst but nothing over the top. This was a fun, sexy read it was fun watching this Romeo fall to his knees for his one and only Juliette. |
Her Secret Ranger was good, if you could ignore the insta-love (I did ;]). Beth & Brick were a bit too quick to jump into a relationship for my liking (and the admitting of love – to themselves at least – wasn’t too far behind). As a lover of slow-burning romances over everything else, this was a hard one for me to get past, but get past it I did, Beth and Brick were just too cute to give up on. Despite the insta-love I enjoyed the story, it was heart-warming and fun. I love how Lizzie’s relationship with her brother was portrayed and the banter both Lizzie and Cord shared. I was all set to put the book down and go to sleep. I actually managed to do just that but then I remembered something I wanted to add to my review notes for this book and seeing as I write my notes in the notes part of the book I happen to be reading at that time (if it’s an e-book) I had to re-open the book – you can probably guess what happened next - I ended up reading another chapter! (What was I supposed to do? My eyes automatically found the words and before I knew it I was reading again). And then I read another chapter. And Another. And another. And ended up finishing the remainder of the book in one sitting. No regrets coming from me though, Her Secret Ranger might have started off with one of my bookish peeves but it more than redeemed itself thanks to the characters (and the rest of the storyline)! When I found out that the next At Ease Ranch book will be Cord’s, I nearly screamed in delight (I knew it! As soon as Brick mentioned Haley had Cord’s number I was all like ‘I smell a romance!’), the wait for book three just got harder! |
"Her Secret Ranger" (The Men Of At Ease Ranch Book 2) by Donna Michaels is a great read. I loved Brick and Beth's story. This story is packed with romance, passion, humor, hot cowboy soldiers, close friends, veterans, entertaining and interesting characters, drama, happily ever afters, and more. I can not wait to see what happens next with the guys of At Ease Ranch! Lula-Belle cracked me up, again! Highly recommend to all fans of romance, cowboys, military, and series. |
Egad what a hot story! I fell in loves with the Easy Ranch boys in book 1 and this next book does not disappoint! Brick and Beth are brilliantly responsive to each other and the emotional climb from one-nighter to an actual relationship was flawlessly written! They have more in common than they thought and Beth foes find it weird due to the link between Brick and her brother and the roller-coaster of feelings she must have been feeling were conveyed so well! An absolutely stonker of a read that tugs on the heart strings as well as the girly parts! Fantastic series - please keep them coming!! |
I’m not a huge fan of miscommunication or lack of communication in books. I understand what Beth was trying to accomplish but the secret keeping and sneaking around always bothers me. I did like this book but not that part of it. It escalated out of control as it usually does and took some time to work through. Beth and Brick are pretty great together. Their chemistry is off the charts both sexually and emotionally. They have a great banter and work well together. They just make sense. Once Brick realizes he wants Beth monogamously, he’s all in and I loved how dedicated he was to being in a relationship with her. Beth is a pretty strong and independent woman and is exactly what Brick needs in a partner. Cord is a big player in this one and we get a peek at his future story which was not a huge surprise to me. I loved seeing Jovy and Stone again as well as seeing more of Leo and Vince. I’m anxious to read all their stories! |

I really enjoyed this story. Beth and Brick’s story is an interesting twist on the best friend’s forbidden sibling trope and I really enjoyed it. I loved Brick, hard falling former ladies man that he was, and Beth was very sweet. I did think that the secret part of the relationship went on a smidge too long for me but not long enough to be too much. This is the second in the Men of At Ease Ranch series but could easily be read as a stand alone. I enjoyed it enough that I will be picking up the first book and will be eagerly awaiting the next installment. I received an arc of this book from the publisher through net galley in exchange for an honest review. |

I liked this book. Beth was in town to help with her friends wedding. So she hooked up with Brick this hot cowboy. As they got to know each other she realized that Brick lived with her brother on his ranch. So she was trying to keep this fling from her brother but the more they spent together through more they liked each other. I really liked this booked and can't wait to read the next one. |
Brick is a former ranger who runs a ranch for vets with his brother and best friends called At Ease Ranch. Brick and Beth meet and hooked up a few weeks before, but neither can forget the other so when their paths cross again they begin pursuing a relationship. Feeling become involved the more time they spend with one another the only problem and you know there must be a problem. After the time passing and they get to know each other better, Beth realizes Brick is her brother’s army buddy and if Brick find out he’ll drop her so quick. Guy code and military brotherhood prevents Beth to sleep much less date her brother’s best friend. By the time, Beth realizes who Brick is, she is already half in love with him and she isn’t ready for things to end because of who she’s related to. S*** hits the fan after the truth comes to light. Her Secret Ranger is a cute, funny, and steamy read. I really enjoyed Brick and Beth’s HEA. 4.5 Stars. I can’t wait for the next story in this series, fingers crossed its Cord and his heroine is Haley because that will be one interesting story! |
Her Secret Ranger by Donna Michaels is book number two in the Men of At Ease Ranch series. This is event planner Beth Brannigan and former Army Ranger Brick Mitchum's story. Brick and Beth end up dating and so much more together. Brick isn't a relationship kind of guy. He is more the love em and leave em kind of guy but Beth may the exception. Brick knows that Beth is keeping a secret but doesn't know what it is. Beth's secret is that she knows that Brick is her brother's friend and military buddy. No big deal, right? Other than her brother will freak out and no telling what he will do to Brick, the love em and leave em guy, that is sleeping with his sister. So, curl up and find out what happens when Brick and Beth's brother find out her secret. Be prepared to do nothing else until you finish this book. This is a fun, flirty, and steamy read! Another great addition to the Men of At Ease Ranch series. I love how Donna Michaels' incorporates humor into her sexy cowboy romances. FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. |
We knew in In a Ranger’s Arms that Stone’s brother, Brick, had hooked up with someone but we know who. In Her Secret Ranger, we get to meet Beth. In a really imaginative scene, Brick and Beth are reunited weeks after their original hot weekend. What we, and Beth, don’t yet know is that Beth’s brother will not be happy with her choice. Brick and Beth are both so likeable. Their interaction is fun to watch. While the two know they have chemistry, they soon realize it’s more than great sex. They really like one another. Their feelings are deepening very quickly. Once Beth realizes who Brick really is and that she can’t continue to date him, she chooses to lie to prolong their inevitable breakup. She just wants a few more days with this amazing man she can’t keep. The reader is left to watch the train approaching and hoping the wreck can be avoided. Not only must Beth deal with the secret she’s keeping from Brick, she’s also got to deal with a controlling boss, planning her best friend’s wedding and a short notice birthday party. When a fight between Brick and Beth’s brother damages her hotel room Beth is left without Brick, her job or the money she’d saved to finish her degree. Several heartwarming events occur to give Beth a bright future career-wise and with Brick. We get to see the nice girl find her happily ever after. This book was very entertaining. reviewed by Jem Stone |
“I’m not sure I can explain it, but when you look at me it’s like a piece of me that I never knew was out of place suddenly fits, and I’m solid. Strong. Whole.” This book is so sweet and so much fun. After recently reading In a Ranger’s Arms, I was quite excited to return to the Men of At Ease Ranch series and spend some more time with these former Rangers/cowboys. And, happily, Her Secret Ranger did not disappoint. It was everything I wanted it to be, and it kept me company on a day when I was not feeling the best. From the fateful way Brick and Beth connect to their can't keep my hands to myself chemistry, it was incredibly easy to just forget about my woes (and grumbly tummy) and enjoy this story. In fact, there's not much that could have dampened my enjoyment of Her Secret Ranger. I love brother’s best friend romances—when done right—and although I was occasionally frustrated by the way Beth and Brick handled their mutual connection to Cord, on the whole, this one was done right. Donna Michaels did a great job explaining the coincidences/gaps in knowledge that were required for it to work, making it easy to for me to buy into their obstacles; Beth’s belief in the power of her brother's influence on her relationships and Brick’s determination not to let anything interfere with his friendship. In addition to the swoony and sexy relationship burning between Beth and Brick, and the secret between them, I also loved seeing Stone and Jovy (and Lulu Belle) again, and seeing how their relationship had advanced, as well as catching up with Brick’s other Ranger buddies. There's a not-so-hidden message in this series about the power of connection, about supporting our veterans, about finding peace and healing that makes the friendships that much more engaging and emotional. As I was when I finished In a Ranger’s Arms, I am really looking forward to what comes after Her Secret Ranger—a dynamic hinted at that makes me think that book three will be just as fun as this book was… but maybe a little angstier too. “You consume me. Once I kiss you, I can’t seem to stop.” ~ 4.5 STARS ~ |
