From the outside, she seems to have it all together, but Dylan Michels struggles to find balance between her personal and professional life. A secret about a past tragedy keeps her focused at work, but guarded and distant with those who love her at home.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher, and really enjoyed it. I found myself really rooting for Dylan throughout the book to find peace with herself and with her past to make her life as beautiful as it seems to be to an outsider. I felt her joy and pain with her as happy and sad moments occur, and felt that Raintree perfectly captured the struggle that many professional women feel in dedicating enough time to their families and their profession. It had enough emotion to elicit empathy from the reader, but wasn't so melodramatic that it became unrelatable.

Overall, this was a quick and easy read that had steady movement and good character development. Definitely a great vacation read. Looking forward to more novels by the author!

Perfectly Undone
by Jamie Raintree

An overly-successful OB/GYN, Dr. Dylan Michaels, begins what seems like a midlife (albeit premature) crisis. Her perfect man, Cooper, proposes and she bolts; seemingly, because her sister could not live out her own dreams. Dylan spends most of the book questioning her very existence (survivor’s guilt?) and her purpose. When Cooper, her long-time doctor boyfriend messes up, she finds her guardian angel in her own backyard. He carries a shovel and wears dirt as an aphrodisiac. It almost works.
Honestly, I had a hard time cheering for this character at first. She is driven by perfection, then whines because she can’t achieve it. She just doesn’t see the truth—she is successful. She is wealthy. In the end, she learns to accept herself, flaws and all, and be satisfied. The writing contains moments of beauty.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book.

Perfectly Undone: A Novel by Jamie Raintree is a romance novel that is scheduled to be released on October 3, 2017 by Harlequin. Many women in their lives have walked a fine line between love, career, family and self. Raintree manages to capture this balance in her writing making it clear and crisp. A very delightful read that really hits home to many women. This story is all about family love and secrets with the heartbreaking loss of love. I felt like the characters were old friends or family members because Raintree’s writing style makes the characters so life like. I highly recommend this book and cannot wait to read more from this author.

A wonderful read. I look forward to reading more by this author. Her writing puts you right in with the characters. You feel their emotions coming off the pages.

The description of this book was a tad misleading and the "startling confession" is a little too obvious but I can't say I didn't enjoy reading this novel. It was a pleasant escape while not being too fluffy. A good read for a long afternoon when you might want a little cry but nothing too devastating.

What struck me most was the characterization. Raintree takes characters who could border on one dimensional then just brings them to life. They bloom throughout the story until you feel as if you know them, even if they've barely graced the pages you've read.

I look forward to reading more of her work in the future.

The first 50 pages drove me nuts with every cliche, metaphor, simile, and cutesy description, etc. After that the writing seemed to settle down into a more readable narrative.

I had a hard time believing that Dr. Dylan Michels could have achieved all that is necessary to be such a successful ob/gyn and still not have a more balanced view of the defining tragic event in her life. Yet, I was rooting for her to finally overcome her issues and move on to new commitments and family relationships.

I'm fairly familiar with Portland, Oregon and found Raintree's setting to be realistic - a skill I truly appreciate from authors.

This was a three for a while but it blossomed into a four. It shook off some things that annoyed me in the beginning. The characters seemed to settle into themselves and that's when the story gelled. Free copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Dr. Dylan Michaels is a successful OB/GYN with a loving and supportive man in her life. However, she is haunted by her past, and thus is constantly sabotaging herself.

Like many women, she has a hard time balancing a demanding and fulfilling career with being fully engaged with her home life.

Raintree’s writing is beautiful—her similes are gorgeous. This is a unique book of women’s fiction.
I received an advance copy of the book via Netgalley for an honest review.

Honestly the story was just too flat - it had it moments and that's why I was able to finish it - but nothing out of this world!!

Dylan's character was moping around and messing up her perfectly good life and relationships for no reason (at least to me story of her sister's death just did not resonate enough). There were times I wanted to just slap her for what she was doing to her life and those around her!

Cooper was too goody two shoes to be true (even after his one slip!!)

The author also was too verbose for me - seriously get to the point and get it over with were my sentiments in the end!
