I liked this short story....... I wish it had been longer. I would have loved to get to the know the characters more- it seemed they would have a great story for a full length novel.

If you are looking for a hot & sexy read- read Coming Home. It was a fun escape after a busy day.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I was a bit lost at first and this make me not feel inside the story from the beginning but while I was reading more this changed! It was short and the characters need a little bit development. Generally it was a great read.

Short, sweet and super sexy! If you are looking to kick back with a quick romance that will deliver a cute love story as well as some steamy love scenes then look no further. "Coming Home" was a perfect novella that gives you a quick glimpse into the lives of two people who have loved each other from afar and finally submit to their feelings for one another. Fun times!

Short and sweet novella with a good amount of steam. My only tiny complaint is that it was super short and I really liked these characters and would've liked more!

“Tobias was a wild free spirit, but whether he understood it or not, he needed a place to come home to. He needed her.”

Spice's ReviewsComing Home is another re-release of NJ Walters, so I jumped on this one even though it’s a contemporary romance and not a paranormal. It’s also new to me, which was a pleasant surprise since I’ve read through a chunk of her backlist over the years.

I was a bit lost at first and had the feeling like I had been plopped down in the middle of a story rather than the beginning of one. Kansas and Tobias have a history and their back story was doled out in snippets. They were practically raised together since they grew up neighbors and Kansas’ brothers were Tobias’ best friends. For years, they danced around their attraction, never acting on it because they didn’t want to ruin the family-like bond that surrounded them. One hot kiss blew that out of the water, but then Tobias disappeared the very next day without a word to her and was gone for almost 2 years.

He returned completely burned out, thinking that he wasn’t good enough because of what he was forced to do while he was gone. Kansas, although she pined for Tobias, didn’t wait for him. I loved this about her. She tried to find a man, but none ever measured up to Tobias.

Their reunion was scorching hot. NJ Walters can write a sex scene that will make anyone all hot and bothered. There was also lots of feels to this book. I felt the remorse Tobias was feeling as he realized what he sacrificed by taking on a long term assignment, no matter how good the cause. I also felt the extreme chemistry and the longing these two had for each other.

Unfortunately, the book spans only a 24-hour period. For me, this was more like the final chapters of a really good book, and I want the first part. The action lover in me wanted to be along for Tobias’ top secret, super dangerous assignment and I wanted to be there for Kansas’ ordeals too. Her job sounded almost as interesting as his and had its own dangers.

Coming Home was quick, sexy, had lots of emotions to it and I enjoyed it, but I would have loved to have the rest of the story.

Coming Home by N.J. Walters this is a short story. I felt like it was more of a snippet of these character's lives. I would like to some day read a longer story with them in it. Get more into their personalities.
Tobias is coming home. The past year and half have felt like a waist to him. He was off in the drug enforcement for the government but he never felt like he fit in or made a difference. For him the world is no longer a black and white place to live. The shades of gray are getting to him. He has been given six months off but he knows he is not going back. He has come home to stay. He also has a new mission to get the woman who once got away.
Kansas is sexy and brave. She is a take charge sort of woman. She is willing to put her heart on the line for one man, and that is Tobias. She is a faithful person and a fighter. She might be in the fight of her life with Tobias' demons.
I really liked this start of a great story. I think there is more yet to be explored and I would love to read that too. If you want to read some powerful characters you will not forget this is the one to pick up.

Coming Home is a quickie of a read, knowing what it was ahead of time got me to appreciate it for what it was and not expect too much out of it. It was a cute, second chances in life and love, and the feeling of coming home. It is INSTA-ness in it's finest, love, lust and everything in between. A jaded agent, and his best friends little sister, it's a decision that can't end well, a decision that shouldn't even begin... but the sassy woman in front of him, knows exactly what she wants and it's him; even if it's for one night.

Bio:

Kansas Fielding and Tobias Slater had always been friends, so when the two indulged in a kiss out of simple curiosity, the depth of the passion they ignited caught them both by surprise, and left them with an insatiable hunger for more. But the next day Tobias was gone, disappearing into a secret life Kansas knew nothing about. Now, two years later—years Kansas has spent building a life and forgetting Tobias—he’s returned, disillusioned and uncertain of his future.

Despite the unanswered questions hanging between them, neither can ignore the deep longing stirred up by that one long-ago kiss, and they recklessly surrender to the intensely erotic feelings. And while Kansas knows she’ll do whatever it takes to make Tobias admit his true feelings for her, it’s Tobias who will have to trust in himself to know he’s come home for good.

Review:

This was a cute steamy short romance story. It only had six chapters, but enough happened in those six chapters to make it worth the read.

The love was brewing in this couple before they even gave into it and so it made it that much better when it finally happened.

I'm not usually one for short stories, but this one was really good. I didn't want to stop reading until the very end.

Short and sexy.

Tobias is a burned out (almost former) DEA agent who has come home to deal with his late grandfather's estate. Kansas is the little sister of his two best friends. They have a past, as friends who shared one passionate kiss, but those feelings are ones that Tobias was never prepared to deal with. Perhaps it's why he walked away immediately after that kiss and she hasn't seen him since, well until now that is, over two years later. She's being hassled by some men who are upset with her for taking in one of the men's girlfriends into the shelter she works for. When Tobias steps up and helps her out of the trouble she's in, she welcomes him back with open arms, and an open heart.

I like Coming Home, it packs a lot of feelings into a short timeline. I wish it were longer and that we had gotten to see more of their new relationship, but as it stands it's well rounded, has 2 great characters (4 if you count her brothers) and explosive chemistry. Can't wait for more of NJ Walters!

Good for what it was - a novella in old school NJ Walters style - reminds me a lot of her Jamesville and Summersville Secrets series. Lots of heat, lovers lost reunion and second chance at romance.

Enjoyed!

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Coming Home by N.J. Walters is a sexy novella that packs a punch. While it may be short and sweet with a fair share of sizzling heat, it is complete and has no loose ends. Totally an enjoyable read!

Please note that an ARC was generously provided in exchange for an honest review of which this is both honest and completely voluntary.

Good for what it is, but it's bite-size. The description says it's a novella, but it's more accurately a very short, short story. On the bright side the writing is good, characters well-defined, and the story flows easily.

SPOILER START

There are about 4 scenes total (the reunion, the sex, the morning after w/ the brothers making an appearance and finally I've always loved you-let's move in together).

SPOILER END

If you have a 30 minute train/subway commute, this is enough to keep your mind occupied. If you're looking for more than that, I'd give this a pass.

I received an ARC of this book, via Net Galley, in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This is one of those filler books. It's a very quick read but had just enough heat to enjoy. Tobias is the tortured her who had come home to the woman he left behind, believing he isn't good enough. Kansas has been waiting for him to come back to her and quickly shows him she is his home. I'd like to see Kansas' brothers get their own book as well. They made an impact in the very short pages they were in. ARC provided by NetGalley.

This is a revised edition of a novella that originally appeared in the Taming the Alpha boxed set.

I don't usually expect a lot from Novella's because they're short and I know that authors are usually trying to fit a lot into a short format but this book started with sex at probably 8 percent and that's all it was. I gave it 2 stars because it had a plot albeit a plot that was small...it had one. I also gave it 2 stars because it was labeled correctly at being Erotica...it was definitely that! The sex scenes that I didn't skip over were well-written but excessive and I wouldn't let my 18 year-old cousin read them. If you like wham, bam, thank you ma'am then this is your book!!

I was given a copy of this ARC from the publisher on Netgalley for a honest review. All of the above comments are my express opinions and no one else's.

Coming Home is another fabulous read by Ms. Walters. Kansas & Tobias are great characters and give us a steamy, hot short romance to remember.

This is a very short read. However, even though it was short it captured my attention right away and was very easy to get into. I wish the characters were a little more developed and it went deeper, but other than that it was good.

a good solid romance. Unique plot. Excellent writing.!

Coming Home is another short, steamy, read in one sitting novella from N.J. Walters. The characters are engaging, and the storyline was enjoyable. Maybe just a little too much background for such a short story; but as always, a truly entertaining read from this accomplished author.
