5 Stars I was pulled right into this story. They have laughs, lust, love, secrets, and forever. If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first: Everything for Her (For Her #1) This is Paige and Ryan's story. Paige is trying to out run her past but it keeps coming back for her. She was out for revenge but Ryan changed her course. He dug himself into her heart. Ryan knows he is not a good man but he is trying to be good to get what he wants which is Paige. But they both have secrets. Not little secrets big ones that once they come out could ruin everything. When the secrets come out and her father is exposed Ryan will need to pick up the pieces. Can Ryan prove he can fix everything for her and love her forever? I recommend this book and anything by this author. |
Starts 5 His Alone is another one of Alexa Riley's work of art. His Alone is a spin off from Everything for her, that is where we got to see Paige and Captain (Ryan). Captain saw a photo of Paige years ago and knew he had to have her, so he put into place a plan that would make that happen. Paige is Miles sister and she was hired to watch over Mallory (Miles went caveman over her too). For that story you will need to go and get that book ( I recommend it). But back to His Alone... Captain is still Paige's boss and he wants more but he doesn't want her to know about the way he went about making it happen. This is another love story where the man goes bat sh** crazy when he first lays eyes on the girl. Which is a typical AR story. Of course those 2 know how to spin it and make it a great read. I love everything they write, the stories they pen are great. We always get instant love stories and its always a great story. His alone is finally a full length book, which is not what we usually get from them, and I'm happy we finally get another one. I love that they give multiple epilogues and they make sure to give all of the updates we want. Of course what would an Alexa Riley book be without some steamy sex and they defiantly deliver on that as well as a very happy love story with very happy ending. I will never get enough of Alexa Riley's books, I will always stop and one click on anything they publish and I'm always sad when one of their books end. I start looking for more from them and counting down until I can get my hands on another. I highly recommend His Alone, I do suggest you read Everything for Her (its not really necessary) but I do recommend it, it does give you a little back story on both Paige and Captain (aka Ryan). Happy reading and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. |
Thank you for the opportunity to read this book before release. This book live up to expectations and more! I cannot wait to see what is next in store from Alexa Riley. It was a blast being able to rave and promote this book on release day. |
I know I’m in the minority here, but His Alone just didn’t work for me. It wasn’t the characters themselves, in fact I found Captain to be a fascinatingly strange mix of uber obsessive alpha male with the extremely patience of a saint and sweet on top of it all. Paige was alright, my heart hurt for her and what she went through as a child and understood her need for vengeance, but her ‘poor me’ tendencies got old fast. What killed this book for me was the slow as molasses pacing that had me putting this book aside more than any other I’ve read recently. Much of it had to do with all the inner monologuing going on, I honestly could have done without half of it, and even when things appeared to start picking up, it would be short lived. The smexy was SMEXY, but it wasn’t enough to hold my interest for all that long after. With so many bookworms out there who absolutely adore Alexa Riley I was really looking forward to diving into this book, but it just didn’t live up to the hype for me, so I’m chalking it up to being an “It’s not you, it’s me” situation and calling it a day. |
QuickShot Review Now this is the Alexa Riley full length novel I was hoping for. I was not a fan of the first book, Everything for Her, but I had high hopes for this book because of the teaser for Paige and Captain. It is not perfect, but its main selling point is the hero and heroine are well matched and dysfunctional together. They’re both stalkery, jealous obsessive and they can go toe to toe with each other and give as good as they get. I had issues with the action being told to the reader instead of shown and it starts a little slow and the plot itself isn’t exactly detailed. That’s ok because what I was looking for was good chemistry, slightly ridiculous situations and some fun banter and I got plenty of all of that. If you didn’t love the first book like I did, I’d say give this one a shot, you may enjoy it like I did. |
This one was so much better than the first one in the series. We still get the alpha male but was not an ass. We also have a strong female who is not as innocent as the females that we have seen before. Paige has always wanted revenge and does not feel as if she will be loved or even deserves it. She truly could not be more wrong, It takes her time to realise this and to get a life she has always dreamed of. "This isn’t supposed to be happening. I’m not supposed to be falling for him like this. None of this is part of the plan. I wish someone would tell that to my heart." When Captain saw her and got to know her, he wanted to help her in anyway possible. She drives him absolutely insane! Was fun to read his frustration! "She thinks I’m perfect. She thinks I look like Captain America. That I play by the rules. But she has no idea who I truly am. Or why I’m really here." Ryan gave Paige the validation and love she has always craved. And this leads to sex. Steamy, hot, pulsating sex! Meow! "Don't ever deny me when I want your mouth." The played off each other so well. The push and pull was well balanced. There are secrets and twist and turns but these two head them on together, creating a stronger bond. |
4 1/2 stars! Alexa Riley has done it again with “His Alone” because it was a fantastic read. This story focuses on Ryan Justice, Paige Turner, her stepbrother Miles Osborne and his girlfriend Mallory. Miles and Paige both have one common goal they share and that is to destroy their father Alexander Owens. In order to move on with their future they have to let go of the past, but Paige is having a harder time doing it. Ryan is on both sides; revenge and protector but when it comes to Paige, what side will he choose? There was definitely chemistry and love between the main characters and I’m glad this wasn’t an instant love read because I enjoyed watching their relationship develop. However, I thought there would be more of Alexander throughout the read inside of him making small appearances in the beginning, middle and end but overall, I enjoyed this story a lot and look forward to my next read from this author. The ending had quite a few epilogues and I enjoyed every one of them. I would definitely recommend this book for romance readers looking for a light read with a little bit of suspense. |

Alexa Riley has been one the author I read when I want a short quick read. This one is a length novel but it hooked me so I didn't really realize how long it was. We get a little of Ryan and Paige in Everything for Her and this one is Ryan (Captain) and Paige's story. Ryan is a super sexy guy. He's all alpha. Ryan is obsessed with Paige. He's not creepy obsessed though. He's protective of Paige. Paige is a cool down to earth girl. She has a past and secrets. She's drawn to Ryan but thinks he's to prefect for her. She tries to not want him but that's impossible. If your looking for a story with that hot a super hot obsessed alpha than this one is for you. |
***ARC Provided for review via Netgalley*** A SPOILER FREE REVIEW 3.5/4 stars (If you haven't read Everything For Her - For Her #1 I recommend it, as His Alone contains spoilers for Mallory and Mile's who are the MC's of the first book. His Alone can be read as a standalone.) The story centers around Mallory's best friend Paige and Ryan who are introduced in the first book. Ryan or "Captain America" is all alpha-male who has been orchestrating making Paige "His" from day 1. Paige has her own agenda and is conflicted because she wants revenge on her father for killing her mother when she was younger. And Ryan wants to protect her, Paige pushes her feelings for Ryan aside while she focuses on avenging her mother, but Ryan being the Alpha hottie he is, won't let her go through it alone & put herself in danger - even though he's keeping secrets of his own. I'm a super slow reader, I love taking my time reading a book & while I love Alexa Riley's quick novellas for a quick shot of alpha hotness, It was a refreshing change reading a full length novel by them. I'll definitely go back and read Everything For Her as I'm intrigued and want to read Mallory and Mile's book and will definitely check out the next book in the series... |
I’ve read the first book in this series-Everything for Me and it was alright. Throughout my reading of that story, the tension between Paige and Ryan was palpable. I wanted to see a book about them and with some things left unresolved, there just had to be more. I was interested to see how things would go. Alexa Riley are known for their insta-love, sex scenes, and over the top possessive alphas and of course they are prevalent in this book. Now I don’t mind these tropes so I was able to deal wth this book. Ryan and Paige have secrets that they keep hidden. And these secrets can affect their relationship as well as other outside forces. So it takes a while for them to succumb to their connection. And when these two finally get together, it was hot. I liked how good they were with each other and their banter was fun to read. Ryan was just like Miles, as in the possessiveness, love, and hotness was demonstrated. Paige was tough and sweet. With all that she went through in the past, she was resilient. Meanwhile the other element to the story really made this interesting and I was interested to see how it would play out. Miles and Mallory are present in this book as parts of the plot involve them and they are good friends with Paige and Ryan. Just like the first book, it was an okay read for me that had some good moments. |
I was SUPER excited for this one as I adored the first book in this series. The alpha hero. The sassy heroine. I really enjoyed this book. Honestly more than the first one. The plotline was amazing as well as the build learning more of each character. Looking forward to more! |
I loved Paige and Ryan's story. I loved that the characters were more developed. We got to learn more about their background stories. I felt that the pace was a bit slower but I suppose because its a full length novel it needed to be a bit slower than their usual writing style. Ryan is the OTT Alpha obsesses her who sees the vulnerable side to Paige. Where she lets everyone else see that she is this strong women who doesn't need anyone. But with Ryan she could let herself go and not pretend to be this take no charge women. I loved the relationship between these two. She loves to rile him up but she also didn't take it to far. She also believed that she wasn't good enough for him, but she didn't know the secrets that he was hiding. I just maybe wanted a little bit more of drama when Paige found out Ryan's secret. Maybe not forgive him so easily let him work for it a bit. Other than that the story was good, the characters were awesome and just enough OTT Alpha dirty talking male that will keep you hooked to the end. Review by Flavia |
His Alone is Alexa Riley’s followup to Everything for Her, a book that didn’t work so well for me, but that hooked me on secondary characters Paige and Ryan. As a result, I badly needed to read His Alone. And this one was a cracktastic delight from start of finish - one that I couldn’t put down. Ryan isn’t exactly what he seemed in Everything for Her. There is a lot more to his story, but one thing is clear, everything he does is for Paige. He has been obsessed with her since he first saw her photo and has been watching out for her ever since. He refuses to let anything truly bad touch her, and unfortunately this is a real possibility given her family connections (Miles, the hero from Everything for Her is her brother and their father is an evil bad dude who likes to pull all the strings.) Paige and Ryan have been circling each other for awhile. Paige likes to push and tempt Ryan who remains stoic and ever watchful. But eventually she pushes him past his breaking point and gets an electric response. Ryan has simply been biding his time until he could make Paige his. Of course, once he does, he isn’t willing to let her go. I actually really enjoyed the push and pull between these two. Paige enjoys poking Ryan in order to make him lose his cool. He’s fairly laid back . . . until he isn’t. And he doesn’t come across as stalkery like Miles did in the earlier book. There are, of course, secrets aplenty. Ryan has a bigger connection to Paige’s father than expected, but again things aren’t always what they seem. But whatever happens, Ryan is fully committed to keeping Paige safe and protected all while in his bed. His Alone is the type of romance that only requires one to kick back, relax and read. It is exactly what romance crack should be. Don’t take it too seriously and it will delight. This one is a feel-good ride. |
Another great book by Riley. I really enjoyed Ryan and Paige's story. It was also nice to see the continuation of Miles and Mallory's tale. |
★Review★ I am glad AR decided to starting doing longer books, as tbh, their last few shorter ones, have felt lazy and repetitive. So, anyway, enjoyed this one more than the first one, as you know - less creepy stalking and more actual mutual attraction, is always a good thing. It was a more well rounded developed story and I liked the heroine so much more here. I actually loved the developing relationship between Miles and Paige. Warmed my cold dead heart so it did! (for a romance fan I feel I am awfully cynical and unemotional!) And Captain, I loved Captain. Maybe even just because he got called Captain (yes, ok I am also shallow). And they worked so well together as a couple. Cap' maybe be ott alpha but Paige is a heroine who can truly hold her own. I hope AR decide to start writing more of these longer full length novels, as tbh, I feel a bit done with the short novellas they seem to churn out every couple weeks, yet I do feel they have so much more to offer as writers. Maybe I have just read too many of them. However, an AR book, with more time to develop characters and plot lines etc....is a wonderful thing. |
Final Score - 4.5 Stars! This book had some similarities with the 1st book, but it was also different as well than the first in the series and all other AR stories for that matter. And while the pacing of this book was slowed in some ways, I was satisfied overall with HEA - which the writing duo of Alexa Riley has always provided in the past. We still get the wildly obsessed alpha hero in Ryan, but he felt somewhat dialed back compared to Miles. Although he WAS really obsessed with Paige, as uncovered later on in the story, he was hiding his kind of crazy ... a little too well. Paige was by far my favorite character in this book. She had a playfulness to her, but she could be serious at times as well. Her most favorite form of entertain was driving her "Captain" loco with pent up frustration & desire. She expertly knew how to rile him up but also knew when to tone it down. She also had a vulnerability and keen sense of justice to write a wrong done to her when she was a child. I enjoyed getting my fix of my strong alpha male. This story has definitely hit the spot - if you know what mean *wink*. ***I received an exclusive ARC of this b00k*** |

Sexy and slightly suspenseful off limits romance His Alone is a sexy and slightly suspenseful off limits romance. While this is the second book in the series, one I have been eagerly awaiting since Everything for Her, it can be read as a standalone. Told from dual point of view, Paige and Ryan have a strong chemistry but both have secrets that majorly affect the way they are. Both Paige and Ryan were likeable characters who were well developed while still being sexy, fun, and full on in their own ways that made them a perfect match for each other. His Alone is well written with a good flow and plot that keeps evolving from start to finish with a deeper and more emotional undertone than the last book. There is also an added suspense side that really adds to the overall book. I loved the bonus epilogues we got giving a glimpse into the longer term future just as we did in the last book. Overall, I enjoyed this sexy read and would recommend this book. |
I could not wait for Paige's story. Ryan, who also goes by Captain has a mysterious side we don't know about. In Everything for Her, we saw the attraction there was between Paige and Ryan but we finally get an inside look in their minds now and it couldn't be any better! I fell in love with Paige and Ryan even more. What I thought I knew of them wasn't the case. Paige is a hardass, that's what we shows everyone but it's not the real Paige. Ryan acts like an asshole but he really is so caring and protective of Paige and she doesn't even know it. “You’re the only one I’ve ever wanted this with. And the only one I want for the rest of my life. That means everything, kitten. Love, sex, marriage, kids. All of it. You’ll give it to me because you want the same damn thing, too.” What happens when Paige tells Ryan she's pregnant to cover up for buying her friend a pregnancy test? Ryan loses his shit and wants to take care of Paige. This story is about falling in love, revenge and truths coming out in the open. His Alone is written beautifully, it's swoon worthy and definitely a book that left me feeling warm and fuzzy. 5 stars!!! |
My favorite guilty pleasure writing duo is back with their second full length novel and it is even better than book one! As is always the case with a decadent Alexa Riley work, we are treated to an over the top, sexy, take charge, obsessed alpha and the endearing woman he must have at all costs. His Alone revisits Ryan (Captain) and Paige who we met in book one. I loved Captain and could not wait for his story so I will admit to being a tab over eager going into this book. Ryan is the head of security of Miles' company. Paige is Mallory's best friend and Miles' half sister. She works under Captain and though she begins to develop feelings for him, she is hesitant to get involved because of her past. To her Ryan is too pure and she is entirely too dirty for a wonderful man like him. Ryan, meanwhile is keeping secrets of his own. He is not as purse and wonderful as Paige believes and is determined to make Paige his. I loved this book. I'm completely biased, because I have yet to find an Alexa Riley book I have not loved, but discounting that, I adored both Captain and Paige. In fact, I loved Paige so much more than I was expecting (I was pretty convinced I would love Captain going in, so no shock on that front). There was just enough back story and angst because of those back stories to keep me 110% invested in their story. They were perfect for each other and Captain was so sweet (granted in an over the top, mildly stalker way) that I ate up each and everything he did for Paige. These full length novels give us so much more of what we already love from this duo. I will anxiously be awaiting book three. |
