3.75 stars--UNTIL YOU is the second installment in Denise Grover Swank’s contemporary, adult BACHELOR BROTHERHOOD erotic, romance series focusing on three friends (Kevin, Tyler and Matt) who call themselves The Bachelor Brotherhood. This is attorney Tyler Norris, and retail specialist Lanie Rogers’ story line. UNTIL YOU can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. Told from dual third person perspectives (Lanie and Tyler) UNTIL YOU follows several paths including the secret relationship between attorney Tyler Norris, and retail specialist Lanie Rogers. Tyler and Lanie have been paired together in their mutual friends’ wedding-Brittany and Randy-but Brittany has a bad habit of interfering where she doesn’t belong. Brittany is a woman determined to match-make all of her friends, and Lanie refuses to have Brittany interfere in her private life. Enter attorney Tyler Norris, who offers himself up as a ‘secret friends with benefits’ when Lanie begins to panic about Brittany meddling ways. What ensues is the building romance and love between Lanie and Tyler, and the potential fall –out when Tyler’s latest client is in direct competition with the woman with whom he is falling in love. Lanie Rogers is determined to keep her relationship with Tyler a secret. Brittany’s continuous need to set up all of her friends pushes Lanie out of her comfort zone, and our heroine does not want Brittany to find out about her affair with Tyler Norris. Tyler is a man who is falling for our story line heroine but Lanie refuses to acknowledge the relationship in public. The ongoing lies and secrets begin to build throwing Lanie Rogers into a spiral from whence she may never recover. Lanie’s need to keep their relationship a secret makes for many uncomfortable situations. Her actions are questionable; her continuing reluctance to reveal the truth exacerbates the already slow building story line. The relationship between Lanie and Tyler is one of immediate attraction but Lanie does not want Brittany interfering in her life, and continues to push Tyler into a temporary arrangement. The back and forth, secrets and lies continues throughout most of the story all to keep Brittany from interfering in her friend’s relationship. The $ex scenes are intimate, intense and seductive without the use of sexually graphic language and text. We are introduced to the bride and groom-Brittany and Randy- as well as Tyler’s younger brother Eric, and one of Tyler’s former girlfriends –Celesta-who is determined to make Tyler her own; Lanie’s co-worker and friend Stephanie, as well as her best friend Aiden. There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including the return of Matt and Kevin, and Kevin’s wife Holly Vandemeer. The world building focuses on the upcoming wedding of Brittany and Randy; Tyler and Lanie’s attempts to keep secret their relationship, as well as Lanie and Tyler’s potential fall out when Tyler’s latest client interferes in Lanie’s plans. UNTIL YOU is a slow building story line where I struggled with the heroine’s need to keep quiet her relationship with the leading hero-sometimes too much is too much especially when the lies begin to compound adding more conflict than necessary. The premise is sexy; the romance is provocative; the characters are colorful and energetic. This book has one of my favorite romance tropes - 2 commitment-phobes who suddenly find themselves longing for all things permanent when they meet the right person. Lanie and Tyler are definitely commitment-phobes and workaholics in the midst of the wedding madness of two of their best friends. Throw in a little secret fling and this book is serious fun! I really believed the romance between the two. They fit together wonderfully and there connection is so present it's almost a character on its own. While I'm not a big fan of insta-love I can definitely buy insta-lust and insta-connection and it felt very natural here. Tyler is a great male lead. He's smart and takes his job and his responsibilities seriously but still has a sense of humor. He is a bit too hard on himself and I thought he blew off a pretty creepy incident involving an ex-girlfriend but neither of those things kept me from falling for him! Lanie is a little bit more of a challenge for me. I liked her. She's smart and crazy hardworking but no ambitious that she'll throw someone under the bus to advance herself. I really enjoyed her relationship with her assistant Stephanie. She's also incredibly patient with her friend/cousin Brit who I would have told to take a long walk off a short pier on the second photo event. Because she's so focused and out of touch with most of her old friends it did take me a little longer to connect with her than I would have liked. This was a thoroughly enjoyable contemporary romance and Denise Grover Swank has definitely earned her place on my auto-buy list. I'm glad she's got a decent sized back list that I can go binge on while I wait for her next book! |

Until You is a lovely story about finding true love at the most unexpected time and place. The pre-wedding setting was charming, and I loved the characters, even if I just wanted to knock some sense into them at times! The heroes, Tyler Norris and Lanie Rogers, are perfect strangers and temporary partners: Tyler is a groomsman and Lanie is a bridesmaid in the same wedding. Tyler is a self-proclaimed life-long bachelor and hates weddings. And yet he couldn’t refuse to attend the multiple rehearsals and photo shoots in preparation for his friend Randy’s marriage with Lanie’s cousin Britt. Despite his professional success and his image as a tenacious attorney, Tyler is insecure and vulnerable. He feels incapable of loving, but has decided to take a break from his womanizing ways. Lanie is conflicted, confused and finds herself standing at a major crossroad in her life. She has lived a nomadic life, because of her job, and was too busy to get involved with someone. She is a workaholic, but feels stuck in a job with no progression or fullfilment. She wants to reconsider her priorities and is ready for a change in her career and her way of life. Tyler and Lanie’s attraction is instant, their relationship is a whirlwind. They are both non-committal and neither one of them has any expectations in what should be a short-term arrangement, a fling that they want to keep secret. But their life is turned upside-down, they can’t stay away from each other. Their intense chemistry was palpable. The characters were well-portrayed and relatable, but I would have enjoyed more plot development. The pre-wedding setting was nice, and yet a bit too repetitive in my opinion. I felt that Lanie and Tyler’s romantic relationship could be more developed, it seemed that Lanie’s career problems took center stage at times. Tyler definitely grew on me, I loved the way he was able to rekindle his relationship with his younger brothers and mend broken family ties. Not to mention that his final grand romantic gesture definitely won me over! I enjoyed the author’s strong and fluid writing style, it was my first read by her. I’ll definitely check out her previous books. Overall, Until You is a light, sweet and sexy contemporary romance and a great summer read. 3.5 stars |
I felt like this was the story that would never end. I liked the characters well enough but I really didn't like the heroine's workaholic nature and her complete disinterest in deviating from work at all. It was so bad. I liked Tyler just fine. He was a romantic at heart despite his total womanizing ways and having slept with all the crazies. Lanie really was it for him and he knew. He wanted her in his life and made it clear. The wishy washy nature of Lanie and her workaholism really just sucked. overall 3.5 stars. I love this series and Denise writes great stories. |

I am a fan of both the Wedding Pact and Bachelor Brotherhood series. I love reading styler and Lanie's story. There were definitely some laugh out loud moments! The only thing missing was I wanted more of the characters we got to know in the other series! Definitely a fun read and one I would recommend! |

This book is hilarious, sweet and steamy sexy hot all rolled into one. I loved everything about it. The chemistry between Tyler and Lanie is off the charts. Even though it's a romantic comedy I was immediately pulled into the story and didn't want to put it down, (as happens with every Denise Grover Swank book I read). I went through all the emotions with them as they figured out their relationship and fought the inevitable. My heart was shattering along with theirs when things looked hopeless for them. And I absolutely adored the ending. I liked it even better than Only You, the 1st book of the Bachelor Brotherhood series, which is saying something. So start reading today!! I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book. |
I am completely enjoying Denise Grover Swank’s BACHELOR BROTHERHOOD series. UNTIL YOU is book number two, and it can be read as a standalone. I liked how some of the characters from the first book showed up in this story. This is the second novel that I have read by Ms. Swank, and I can’t wait to read more of her work. Lanie Rogers is an extremely interesting character. She has worked for the same retail company for the past ten years, and as a result, has become very successful on a professional level. Due to her intense travel schedule, she doesn’t own or rent a home, have a serious boyfriend, or own a car. She and her assistant travel around the country opening women’s boutiques, while enjoying the cities they temporarily call home. Women flock to this unique boutique chain, and the secrecy and frenzy surrounding each opening is quite remarkable. Lanie is in Kansas City to open a new store and be a part of her cousin’s wedding. As a bridesmaid, she is required to attend almost all of the pre-wedding festivities and photo sessions. Being paired with groomsman and attorney Tyler Norris is not a hardship, as they both find each other attractive and smart. Tyler is a known womanizer and he has no desire to settle down, that is until Lanie pops into his life. They are both into a short-term fling, which after a only a few weeks evolves into true love. This is an engaging and nicely written novel. Lanie and Tyler have an amazing connection and Ms. Swank does an excellent job of creating sexual tension, longing, and desire. I liked how Ms. Swank developed Tyler’s relationship with his youngest brother, which contributed to Tyler’s newly discovered need to have serious and supportive relationships. Overall, this is an entertaining read that will keep you engaged from start to finish. LJT, Romance Junkies, 4 Hearts. I was given a copy of the book for an honest review. |
I love all of Denise's books, they are easy to read and follow and you quickly fall in love with all the characters, this book wasn't any different! this is the second instalment of the Bachelor Brotherhood series and we get to hear how Matt (the last of the trio of best friends) falls in love. Tyler a hard working young man and Lanie an equally hard working young woman both in their 30's find themselves in the situations and bumping into each other and both have an obvious crush on each other! can they work it out and find true love? |
~~I received this in exchange for my honest opinion~~ This was probably the best book out of the Bachelor Brotherhood series. Not only do you have two perpetually single people, you have two people that refuse to see what is right in front of their faces. Lanie is always on the go. She has an apartment, but nothing that she calls home. She is constantly working and moving to a new location. She doesn't have the time for romance or relationships. Tyler is the same, except he does have a place that he calls home. He is a lawyer that has just been handed the case that will most likely get him a partnership. Until You is a quick read. You will not be able to put it down. If you do put it down, you will be constantly be wondering what is going to happen. Densie sure knows how to make sure you are feeling the tension between two people. The chemistry is off the charts. |
Tyler has his own string of women but when things go south with one and his buddies and him to vow to remain bachelors he knows this is what he needs to do no matter how many women his best friends fiancé sends his way. Lanie has seen how well relationships work just watching her parents relationship. Work seems to be up in the air for that matter, life seems to be up in the air. Can she figure it all out or is it just her cousin's coming wedding and all the events that is making her rethink everything? This book is somewhat predictable and although its predictable its super good. Both main characters a broken and a searching and trying to find themselves even though they find them at a impasse. I loved Eric and how much he played a huge rule in the story. I really enjoyed the story and I really enjoyed how the characters didn't seem fake but more like catching up friends. This book does have adult language/scenes in it so it may not be suitable for all readers. I really enjoyed this group of friends and can't wait to read more. They are a close bunch of misfits just trying to keep it all together. |
After having been greatly annoyed in the first book because of the fact that this series is an undisclosed spin off of the author's Wedding Pact series, I went into this hoping that this book would move past that and into something completely unrelated, but I felt like I was walking into the middle of things in this book too! Tyler and Lanie meet at one of the many functions that Brittany has before her wedding. Problem was, I didn't understand who Brittany and her groom were to Tyler and Lanie and why they didn't just blow her off when they finally started getting together because of their attraction to one another, especially since it wasn't a secret that one of the other bridesmaids wanted Tyler back. Yup, I said back, and it should have clued me in that this would be a major angst and drama fest. I began to hate the wedding backdrop, especially with all the deception that Tyler and Lanie felt were necessary to "preserve" their standing in the wedding. I'm honestly not certain that I know why they felt that they had to be so deceitful! I had a hard time connecting to Tyler and Lanie, and the story really dragged for me because of all the drama and lack of connection to the characters. The ending was again a bit abrupt for me and I was left feeling rather "meh" about the whole book. I don't think I would consider reading another book by the author, unless I got it from the library or something similar. |
I received an ARC of Until You in exchange for an honest review. I usually love all of Denise's books and rate them five stars but this one fell a tiny bit short of perfect for me so I am giving it 4. The story-line of Until You is fun and light. Lanie (who doesn't want to settle down) and Tyler (pretty much a player) are in their friend's wedding together. One thing leads to another and they find they have a very strong attraction to one another. The Wedding Pact series and the first book in the Bachelor Brother's series were great. I always feel like I am revisiting old friends when I pick up the next book in the series because I love the characters and like catching up with them. However, this time I didn't feel as great a connection as I did in the past. I don't think that we really get to know any of the characters in this one. The only insight we get is that Tyler is a player and Lanie is afraid of commitment. I would have liked to hear more about the characters from the other books too. If you have never read the rest of the series you could easily read this as a stand-alone book. Definitely worth reading and enjoyable. Great as we head into wedding season as an easy romance book. Four stars. |
ARC received for an honest review This is not only my first read in the Bachelor Brotherhood series, but my first Denise Grover Swank read ever. Lanie and Tyler are the eternal bachelor and bachelorette, ever the commitment phobes, workaholics - you get the drill. Until each other that is. I adore the spark between them, from the first maiming till the last word. However they did frustrate me at times, particularly Lanie. I think it was her workaholic tendencies, and her refusal to deviate from that. I could kind of understand it, but girl, you need to live a little. Tyler was all kinds of swoony and romantic and lovely. Psycho hose beast exes and all. Now, since I haven't read the first book, I can only go by her character in this second installment - What the hell Britt?? You may be all cute in the first book, but 95% of the time in Until You, I really, really disliked you. I wanted to tell you off for everyone else in the book. You grated on me and made it quite unpleasant to continue reading at times - but this could just be me. I was Lanie and Tyler's big cheerleader as I was reading. I wanted them to pull their heads out and work on it, make it happen people! Ms Swank's writing was good, the story flowed well, and I will be reading more of her in the future. ** going live on blog tour on 2nd June ** |
Just like Only You (Bachelor Brotherhood #1) and the entire Wedding Pact series, Until You is a fun romcom, and a fast read! I wanted to like it more from the start, but the relationship between Tyler and Lanie felt a little forced. They won me over in the end, but it took a while to get there. Given the ages of the characters in this series (mid-30s), I very closely relate with all of them. It's been fun to get to know the fellas, and I can't wait for the third book in the series this fall! ****Four solid stars!**** |
Tyler and Lanie are hot and have chemistry off the charts from the beginning. This is more than just a steamy romance though. Their chemistry is obviously there in bed, but their real chemistry comes in the friendship department. Swank is able to write these characters realistically in a way that makes the way they just understand and "get" each other easily be understood. Something else I love about the writing in this story is how the plot could feel contrived at times but still just feels like a misunderstanding. Finally, what makes this story great and keeps bringing me back to all of Denise Grover Swank books, is the humor. This is a Rom-Com to the core and a great summer read to sit back and relax and enjoy. |

Hilarity ensues as two people who have been too busy, and had too many bad experiences, to ever fall in love find each other in a series of some very painful, but funny, situations. This book hits all the notes a romcom should. |
This is my first book by Denise Grover Swank, and I really enjoyed it. It’s a light and funny read with a sexy and sweet love story included. It’s well written with strong and loveable characters. I will definitely read more by this author. This is part of the Bachelor Brotherhood series of standalones, I want to read them all. Tyler works hard, had a few relationships gone bad. He’s sweet and fun; before you know it you’re hooked. I fell in love with his easy going and go with the flow personality, especially in this fast paced relationship. His help with his brother just shows the lengths he’s willing to go to make things right, commitment to relationships that even he didn’t realize. The band……and…that moment…..Loved it! Lanie's trying to keep this new relationship light and secret from friends, which I found funny because I felt it so strong from the beginning. Her life is kind of unsettled and she’s trying to figure so much out for her future. He of course adds another element to her decision making process. I love that before she knew it he was a big part of it. I felt kind of bad for her that her life was such a secret. I was happy when she could finally let it out and relieve that pressure, allowing others to help her see she had options in her career as well as personal life. There are so many funny parts during the times they’re together you can’t help but laugh. I love how the author brings things back, ties things together. The pictures….that shoe……the beer……little things that made me smile again remembering what happened in the previous chapters. Their friends are funny too, all of them unknowingly part of this secret love story. |
This is the second book of the bachelor brotherhood series and it could be read as a standalone. This book is a romcom and it had it's funny parts. Learning about Tyler's crazy ex and the exchanges that Tyler and Lanie had was hilarious. I can honestly say that I loved Tyler more than Lanie. Lanie is always so serious compared to Tyler I suppose which is weird since Tyler is an attorney but perhaps it's because he's a guy and he seems to be everyone's friend. I enjoyed their chemistry together and I can't wait to see what the next book is all about!! **Book received by NetGalley in exchange for a honest review** |
book 2 in the bachelor brotherhood, until you, picks up the story of tyler norris. he's an ace corporate lawyer and after a relationship that ended with him having to go to court for a restraining order, he's a little leery of the ladies. when he meets lanie rogers while hiding from everyone at a friend's engagement party he is intrigued. the bride is her cousin and she also happens to be hiding from the parade of potential partners her cousin keeps throwing at her. they don't exchange names or information. they only have a mild flirtation. but that chance meeting in the garage stays with each of them. and then they keep running into one another. when they are paired as partners during the prewedding pictures for the wedding they are both in, they give into their attraction. for a confirmed bachelor like tyler, lanie is the perfect girl. she doesn't do long-term. her job keeps her moving. but tyler finds that he dreads thinking about lanie leaving. he's never felt more in sync with anyone. their relationship is so easy. they are playful and sexy and the easy way they slide into something serious feels just right. so can lanie put down roots? can tyler find a way to have it all? both of them have some job intrigue that affects the outcome. and one of the reasons their relationship functions so well is that they share so many of the same values. they care about their jobs. they care about their friends and their families. they just have to stop running from something that might truly tie them down. and i love how they navigate this together. i didn't think it would be possible to top kevin and holly, who by the way make some nice appearances in this book, but tyler and lanie might just do it for me. |
He's a reforming heartbreaker. She's a workaholic nomad. Neither have a romantic bone in their bodies. Until a wedding, a pact and a kiss lead to an attraction that is not to be missed. I've been head over heels for this band of brothers since Only You, made an appearance on my book shelf. Not only does Ms. Swank dish out some romance, she delivers on the bromance as well. Until You continues that instant connection of love, life and friendship that drives author Denise Grover Swank's novels. Both author and characters make it easy to fall in love with love. |
