I have chosen to DNF this title. I have really enjoyed other titles by this author, so I was surprised that I was not able to engage or relate to the characters in this story. I tried it 2 different times to make sure it was not the mood I was in, but both times I found myself skimming the story. I have chosen to DNF instead of a low rating for the title. Thanks and I look forward to the next book through your company! Laura |
An ok read. Too dirty for my taste. The story goes straight to sex, I wish it had more story before something like that happens. Anyone who is into a bit of dirty read, this will work for them. For me it was ok. |
Until You by Denise Grover-Swank This is the second book in Grover-Swanks Bachelor Brotherhood series and can absolutely be read as a standalone. It's the story of Tyler and Lauren: a lawyer and a super-secretive workaholic. Tyler and Lauren meet when they're thrown together for their best friend and cousins (respectively) wedding and the sparks between them are alight from the word go. While they try hold off on acting on their mutual attraction, they decide that since neither is attached or looking for anything permanent, why not spend the next month or so enjoying each other until Lauren moves to her next work obligation. Where I enjoyed the previous book in The Bachelor Brotherhood, Until You was just an ok read for me. There were a few moments that induced laughter, but for the most part, I found it difficult to connect with the characters, and couldn't really believe the romantic connection between them. I'm finding it difficult to rate this book because while I think the actual plot was great, there was something lacking and the characters and their relationship just needed a lot more work. I understand that there was a sexual connection but it was the romance and love aspect I couldn't completely believe. Im looking forward to the next book in this series and hope it'll be a great one. *arc received from NetGalley in exchange for honest review. **Reviewed by Melinda for Joandisalovebooks Blog. |

What is a girl and guy to do... Stuck at a wedding that goes on for DAYS... Both are cut from the no commitment cloth... she because she travels too much and is in a workaholic mode... Him because he is set to always be the Bachelor. Naturally they hook up- naturally it is hot... and naturally they end up wanting more... There is a hiccup of major proportions...but all gets resolved. |
This is the second book in the Bachelor Brotherhood series and it comes from a spin off of the Wedding Pact series, which I loved. This book we have Tyler, who is best friends with Kevin (Book 1) and Matt (Book 3). He is a groomsman in a wedding for one of his work colleagues and good friend, Randy. At a get to know the wedding party event, Tyler meets the lovely Lanie, cousin to the Bride - Brittany. Tyler is a lawyer, who is looking to make partner this year, and has been known to be a player. Lanie is also a workaholic, and has dedicated the last ten years to her job, opening designer boutiques for a large corporation. When these two meet, and spend some time together, they get to do a lot of "firsts" as it is the only relationship they have each had. But when their jobs become more demanding and could take Lanie away from Kansas City, things look doubtful for a HEA. Tyler will need to pull out the big grand gesture and a little fan fare to show Lanie how determined he is. I am always happy to read a Denise Grover Swank book, and especially her contemporary romance / RomCom's. They have a light and breezy feel to them, and take me to a place of pure indulgence. This wasn't as funny as the others, but it still had the elements I need to escape into a book. I would loved to have read more about the yoga, and if the girls actually attended a lesson, and a little more on Kevin and Holly. I have missed the other characters, and want to know they are all doing great. I am anxiously awaiting Matt's story. I would recommend this book. |
Until You by Denise Grover Swank “Unexpected love, 4 stars” Tyler has crap luck when it comes to women. Some how he always ends up with the crazy ones. But he has now decided to take a different approach, swearing off women. That is until he meets a woman who’s a bridesmaid in his buddies wedding. Tyler is instantly drawn to her, only problem he doesn’t really know who she is or even her name to start with. Laine doesn’t do relationships, or rather she can’t. She’s all work and no play. Her job has her constantly on the move. Luckily for her she’s in her old stomping grounds for work and for her cousins wedding. What she least expects is a handsome groomsman who catches her eye. Laine’s job is full of secrets that she can’t share, will that be the death of their relationship or will they make it if they take the jump? I liked Tyler, he was one of those guys who was all in from the get-go. He might have messed around in his younger years but he’s reformed now and looking to settle down. He was loyal to his friends and working at repairing relationships with his brothers. Laine though, I couldn’t connect with her. I understood she needed to be secretive for work but it felt like she was severely holding herself back all around. The other characters were great though. Here are a couple of pieces from Until You that I enjoyed; “Her breath fanned his face, and it took everything within him to keep his hands to himself, because instinct told him that if he made a move, she’d give him a brush-off so epic, an 8.0 earthquake would pale in comparison. And he definitely did not want her to give him a brush-off.” “He winked. “You did try to kill me… twice.” She rolled her eyes. “If I’d tried to kill you, you’d be dead. Do. Or do not. There is no try.” Appreciation filled his eyes. “You quote Star Wars.”“Return of the Jedi, to be more precise.” “I think we should just give in and accept that we have crazy, off the charts chemistry and make the most of it.” “You’re good with helping me work through big decisions. I’m good with the touchy-feely stuff. We make a good team.” Plot- 5/5 Character- 4/5 Heat- 4/5 Writing style- 5/5 Overall- 4/5 **SBR Reviews** |
This was a fun, lighthearted read that I was engaging from page one. Denise is truly a master at developing believable and entertaining characters. Lanie and Tyler are a perfect match, especially with Lanie's foibles and Tyler's penchant for crazy ex-girlfriends. I absolutely loved it! |
Until You is an amazing book. I loved it Once i started I couldn't put it down. This is a must read book. Denise is an amazing Author !!!! |
4.5 Stars!!! I became aware of Denise Grover Swank's Bachelor Brotherhood series when I was asked to participate in the blog tour for the first book, Only You. I immediately fell in love with her brand of contemporary romance. It was smart, sassy and sexy -- three things I'm looking for when I'm reading a romance novel. I was very excited when I saw Until You was available to request on NetGalley. I've been waiting for this book since the moment I finished Only You. In Until You, we get to know Kevin's best friend, Tyler. Tyler's a reformed manwhore who's dealt with his fair share of crazies. Being around Kevin and Holly, and now soon-to-be-married Randy and Brittany, has Tyler re-examining what kind of relationship he really wants in life. Meeting bride-to-be Brittany's cousin, Lanie, has Tyler feeling things he's never felt before. It's a good thing that Lanie is only here for a month. There's no promise of forever if Tyler acts on his attraction to her. Lanie lives her life moving from place to place opening up a famous women's clothing store in secret. She's doesn't own a house or a car and she's completely satisfied with that. Lanie is very excited to have a sex only fling with groomsman Tyler. Or she was until she watched her best friend and cousin get ready for her upcoming nuptials. Now, Lanie finds herself wanting more than her nomadic life. Maybe a chance at forever with a certain sexy groomsman. Until You was a humorous romance. You had two people who kept getting paired together who were sexing it up in secret. Every interaction they had outside the bedroom had some sort of crazy disaster. I can't count the number of times I found myself laughing or shaking my head. It was so much fun to read! I loved both Lanie and Tyler. Both were workaholics who only had time for sex. Luckily, the sex they had together was so amazing that other parts of their lives started drifting together. They were on the same page for pretty much the whole book and I loved that. Their chemistry propelled the entire story forward. I enjoyed every minute of it. My only complaint about Until You was how the story wrapped up. It was a good, strong ending with as much humor as the rest of the book. I just didn't like how quickly the conclusion came. Everything fixed itself in one outlandish moment, and I kept thinking to myself that amount of crazy doesn't happen all at once. It was sweet, though; and entertaining. If you're a fan of contemporary romances and haven't yet read the Bachelor Brotherhood series, I highly recommend you read it. It's a stellar series wrapped around, but not consumed by, weddings. |
Great book. Love these characters. Both are strong on their own but realize they are better together. Lots of drama and great story line. |
I didn't want this book to end. It was so good. You will meet Lanie and Tyler. Two people running form the same things in Life. They both find themselves in a wedding frenzy. What you find yourself doing for friends and family. SMH. The rollercoster of emotions they got through is a bumpy ride and at one point I was in shock with the way they where going. I kept think of Joey from Friends when reading Tyler. This book does also have some great laughs. It is a great book of strong friendships. I spent all day going back to my kindle looking for more. I just couldn't believe I had finished it. Everyone should pick up this book. |
I absolutely adored the first book in this series so when I saw this one up on NetGalley, I knew that I had to have it. I remember just being completely enamored with every single sentence in that first one. But that is not how things ended up this time. Everything was off to a great start ... in the beginning there was this one sentence about Lanie being cute when she is mad. My husband tells me the same thing and it always makes me want to simultaneously kick him in the kiwis and give him a big kiss. So I thought that this book and I were going to get along just fine. I think that it was a culmination of different things that just didn't work for me with this one. I didn't really like the main character, Lanie. That's not a good thing. I didn't feel connected to her at all. And even though I initially kinda started to like her, that quickly changed the more pages that I read. I felt like I wasn't able to get to know her the way that I had with Holly in the previous book. I understood what she was all about but I didn't feel like I actually knew anything about her. And then Tyler, Lanie's love interest ... I liked him just a tad bit more but it wasn't enough to redeem the book for me. I really enjoyed his conflicting emotions and all of the stuff with his family but again ... not enough. I didn't smile every time his name was on the page and he didn't make me all swoony. Usually I like the dudes that can't make up their minds and then getting to experience reality smacking them in the face. Then the book itself moved along slowly. If you have kids, you know what it's like to have to drag a tired and ornery little kid out of the store because you didn't time a shopping experience correctly and your little turd missed their nap time. That's what reading this book felt like. I felt like the mom struggling with her suddenly jello-esque child, trying to get them out of the store and into the car so that everyone can go home and nap. I'm not entirely sure what in the world was going on with my reading experience this time. I just loved the first book so much!! Whatever it was, I couldn't fix it. Maybe the next one will be a better fit. * I received this book in exchange for an honest review * |
This was a sweet unputdownable tale and a great addition to the Wedding Pact spin off series Bachelor Brotherhood. Laine & Tyler were perfect. |
There's nothing better than two people swearing off romance and then finding that one person they can't resist. From the first moment they met, you wanted this couple together. You'll definitely fall in love with Lanie and Tyler. The flow of the story was perfectly timed and the happy ever after is the thing of dreams. |
Another great book from Denise Grover Swank. The relationship is hilarious and the reader automatically gets whisked away into the drama filled life of Lanie and Tyler. Read this book; case closed. |
There was nothing wrong with this book, the characters were by-and-large engaging and the plot moved along well but it didn't really grab my attention. I think part of my frustration was that I knew that the characters were somehow connected to one of Denise Grover Swank's other series' but I didn't recall how (it kept niggling at me). Tyler Norris is a hot-shot lawyer and a groomsman at his best friend's imminent wedding. It's one of those weddings that goes on and on and on and, in this case, involves several pre-wedding photo shoots with Holly and Kevin Vandemeer (who are definitely from another book but I can't find out which one! EDIT: [book:Only You|29246615]). Lanie Rogers is a workaholic. She works for a chain of fabulous women's clothing shops and is in charge of opening new stores. Each store is kept a well-guarded secret until the day it opens, generating lots of publicity. As a consequence she has spent the last few years living in rented accommodation and travelling around the continental USA. The secrecy surrounding her job means that Lanie can't talk about what she does or why she is in town. Her best friend Brittany is getting married and Lanie is one of the bridesmaids. Tyler and Lanie meet at a couple's wedding shower for Brittany and Randy when Tyler goes into Randy's garage to get one of his imported beers from the garage fridge and finds Lanie hiding from Brittany and her match-making. Thrown together time and again because of the extended wedding shenanigans Lanie and Tyler are attracted to each other, but he is a commitment-phobe and she is leaving once her new store opens. Lanie's career is at jeopardy if the store doesn't open on time because she has a new boss who seems determined to make her fail, then one of the other shops in the mall files an injunction to stop them opening. Of course, Tyler's firm is filing the injunction but neither of them knows about the other. As I say, this was OK but after I had finished the book it just slipped my memory. I have now read the last paragraphs about four times in an attempt to remind me what the book was all about! |
I really enjoy this series by DGS and this book was no exception. |
Good story and great characters and setting. In my opinion if you want to shake a character it's a good story. This one has that and more. |
3.5 Stars! Very sweet story, the hero is genuine and real and I had not thoughts of throat choking him. So many times the hero screws up and for some unknown reason, out of the blue, just sabotages his own happiness. Didn't happen. I haven't read anything from this author before (and I know she has a ton of books out!) but I am going to check out some of her series. I enjoyed this one and would like to see if they are all as well written as this one. |
As with all previous books by this author, Tyler and Lanie's story took my breath away. There was so much heart to their story, that you couldn't help but fall in love right along with them. The characters were so very real, with dimension and personality, that it was very much like being there with them, experiencing their joys, and heartbreak on the way to their HEA. I'm so very glad I've had this chance to once again experience the writing by Ms Grover Swank, I always come away with lightness in my heart and the belief of true love and happiness trumps all.
