I was extremely impressed with this book. I have never come across a cozy mystery that involves dowsing rods. I was really curious about this so I was excited to give this book a try.
Julie Hall is an intense character that has truly overcome evil in her life. Raised by a grandmother who hated her and a grandfather who was caught in the middle, Julie could not wait to leave her home.

After the death of her grandmother, Julie returns home to her grandfather, living her life quietly in a tiny trailer.
When FBI agent Garrett Pierce asks Julie to help in a missing persons case, Julie feels torn, she wants to help but she doesn't want to become the reason for small town gossip.

Julie needs to make some decisions and only the right one will help save her life.

I was so intrigued with this story that I could not put it down. I read it all the way through and was totally impressed with the style of writing and the entire story itself.

I voluntarily read an ARC of this book provided by the publisher and NetGalley.

Julie Hall uses a diving rod to find, not water, but bodies. It’s not something she likes to advertise (for obvious reasons) and she tries to keep a low profile with her grandfather and her beloved dog. When a young woman’s body is found and three more girls disappear, Julie has no choice but to get involved. Working with FBI agent Garrett Pierce, Julie does her best to help unmask a killer even as more bodies are found and more girls go missing. But when it gets out that Julie is helping the authorities, she becomes the next target of a sadistic killer. I must be getting older because all the heroines in the books I read keep getting younger! Seriously, Julie was a mature 25, and I liked the fact that she wasn’t a spoiled rich girl (she lives in a trailer). A strong plot, devious villain and likable heroine made this mystery an intriguing read

I loved this book, it grabbed me from page one. Very strong characters and well described setting. Very tight mystery and I loved a twisted ending

I read "A Grave Calling" in a single day. Author Wendy Roberts definitely hit a unique beat with her heroine, Julie, a dowser who finds dead bodies instead of water.
