Weaver's Needle is my first read by Robin Caroll but certainly will not be my last! This book has all of the elements of a book that I enjoy--mystery, action, romance and just good writing.
Landry Parker, former Army MP and former detective, Nickolai Baptiste, both of New Orleans and now work in the recovery of stolen artifacts, are hired by Winifred Winslet, the widow of Bartholomew Winslet, to recover a map to the Dutchman's Lost Gold mIne in Arizona that was stolen from her husband when he was murdered. The twist is that the first to find the map is rewarded with $50,000. Both Landry and Nick need the money for different reasons. Once in Arizona, someone is trying to scare them away. As the situation gets dangerous for them, they decide to work together to find who has the map and maybe the murderer of Winslet. Two friends of the Winslets are there to oversee the search for the map. Stan was sent with them by Winifred but Phillip just showed up saying that he was there to make sure that Winifred is not taken advantage of. Both men love Winifred and maybe one of the them is the one that killed Bart and is trying to get them off the case. Mixed in the story was Native American folklore that says that Ghost Warriors protect the mine from being found by white people. There are many Native Americans in Apache Junction. Maybe one of them is trying to scare them away.
Ms. Caroll does a great job at plot and character development and scenery description. This is an action packed, fast paced story that will keep the pages turning. I found the Native American element very interesting and it worked out well with the mystery surrounding the legend of the lost mine. Landry's parents died of natural causes but Nick's parents died in a house fire caused by his sister who suffers from schizophrenia and lives in a care facility. While Landry relies on her faith, Nick does not see how God could allow such events to happen.
I recommend this read and thank NetGalley and Barbour Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Two recovery specialists pitted against each other to find a map to a lost treasure leads to a fast paced adventure. Both desperately need the payment for finding the map but soon find that working together may keep them alive after attempts on their lives have been made. This story with all the twists and turns plus the local folklore makes it a very worthwhile read.

I found it hard to get into this book. The real action didn't really get started until about halfway through. I liked the premise of the story and the plot. Like other reviewers have stated, I wasn't keen on the native rituals and visions. For a Christian story it certainly mixed in a lot of magic and mysticism. It is well-written, mature, and for that reason I'm rating it 3 stars. However, I wouldn't be tempted to read it again.

I've been reading Robin Caroll's books a long time and I love them. It seems like it's been forever since I read one, too. This one was tremendous! Great characters that leapt off the page, great situations and a great plot!

I love a good mystery and Robin Caroll has supplied this in Weaver's Needle. What's better than a lost treasure and an ancient treasure map? .....Landry Parker and Nickolai Baptiste are recovery experts that are hired by a wealthy widow to recover a treasure map that was taken when her husband was murdered. The first person to find the map will receive fifty thousand dollars. As they each began searching for clues to the treasure, they find there is someone else after the treasure and they are willing to kill for it. Their search takes them from New Orleans to Weaver’s Needle in Arizona to the sacred grounds of Native Americans. As the danger increases they begin to join together for safety and also to compare clues for their search. A hint of romance, danger, suspense and intrigue makes for a good read............

What a great book. The characters are well developed and engaging on all accounts. The story line caught me up from the opening lines of the first chapter. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I love a little romance, especially muddled within a good mystery. But I really love a good mystery. The summary of this book pulled me in from the get go. And the book really lived up to my expectations and so much more. I loved all the twists and turns throughout the book. As soon as you felt you had it all figured out, another wrench was thrown into the plot. Great read!

This story uses the classic "two dogs, one bone" trope in that Landry and Nickolai, heroine and hero, both ex-cops and now recovery specialists, are chasing the same treasure map. Literally. A wealthy widow whose husband has just been murdered sends the two of them on a mission to recover the stolen map, a map which supposedly leads to the fabled Lost Dutchman Mine. Whoever finds the map first and returns it will earn the hefty recovery fee. And they might even solve the murder along the way, as the map disappeared at the same time as the murder.

It took some reading before I even figured out that this was a Christian book. Landry is a believer; Nickolai is not. Landry finds herself strongly attracted to him, with only a token nod to the problem of being unequally yoked if she allows the budding romance to go forward. There is also a great deal of Native American shaman ritual that I don't think belongs in an overtly Christian book, especially when it figures into the plot as much as it does here.

The story takes the two searchers from New Orleans to Arizona, where they fall in love much too quickly and decide to join forces in their quest much too easily. Most of the conflict is external. Someone is clearly trying to drive them off the search; staged car mishaps and motel room ransacking play a big role. Naturally, these incidents only make them more determined to succeed in their mission.

This book could not seem to make up its mind whether to be a romance or a mystery, and thus did a bit of a disservice to both genres.

Landry Parker and Nickolai Baptiste, two recovery specialists on the search for a stolen map that supposedly leads to the Lost Dutchman Mine. There is suspense from the beginning with an unsolved murder and the stolen map and interesting characters that you don't know if they are good or bad guys. Robin Caroll's descriptions of Arizona and Weaver's Needle make you feel like you are there. There is plenty of suspense and a little bit of romance and a spiritual journey that the characters don't even realize they are on.

I love Robin Caroll's books and I was not disappointed with the Weaver's Needle. A well written romance / suspense and a lost treasure map.

Two recovery agents are asked to look for the same treasure map, I was intrigued!
I have enjoyed Robin Carroll's novels in the past and I was pumped to find out she came out with a brand new tale, with a treasure hunt twist.
I liked that the author used a "real" legendary mystery to base her book off of. Makes me want to hike the Superstition Mountains (wink).
The mystery element of the plot took several twists and did not give up everything at once.
The rivalry between the main characters seemed to end abruptly to me, but from that point on the romance development took more center stage. But I have found that to be the case in many romantic suspence.
My biggest beef with this book Through is how it portrays the Native American religious ceremonies. From a Christian perspective I do not like how much of the book was focused on the meditations and seances. And then for the author to never address that this is a bad thing..........not cool with me. This is why I rated the book 3 stars. I think Christians need to be aware of demonic influence in these forms, not brush them off as culture.
I was given this book Through netgalley for my honest opinion.

Two recovery specialists.
One murder.
A hunt for the Dutchman's Lost Gold Mine becomes a race of survival.

Former Army MP Landry Parker fell into the recovery specialist role quite by accident—to help her ailing father. Now that she’s on her own, she is determined to prove herself and honor her family legacy.

After being shot in the line of duty, former police officer Nickolai Baptiste became a recovery specialist, and he’s good at his job—maybe even the best.

A potential client pits Landry and Nickolai against one another to find the Dutchman’s Lost Gold Mine map that was stolen from her murdered husband, and the potential payday is too enticing to pass up. The trail takes them from New Orleans to Weaver’s Needle in Arizona where legend claims the mine is hidden. Landry and Nickolai are no strangers to adventure, but the unlikely partners quickly discover there’s someone after the treasure and there are those who want to ensure the lost mine in Arizona’s Superstition Mountain stays lost forever.

Can Landry and Nickolai work together despite their distrust of each other to save the legend before more innocent lives are lost? Will they find the real treasure isn’t the gold, but something more valuable. . .true love and understanding?

Robin Caroll has written another award winning book. It started out a little slow but picked up as it went along. The Dutchman's lost gold mine has been written about for years and many people have gone looking for the gold. This book tells the tale of greed leading to murder. Then murder attempts on the heroine and hero. You'll have to read the book to see if they find the gold mine. I highly recommend you read the book.

I was given Weaver's Needle by Netgalley for a honest review. I was not compensated in anyway.

Mystery, suspense and romance is this authors specialty. This book contained them all and had me turning the pages to find out what happened next. The setting started in New Orleans and went to Arizona. The ride along the way had me sitting on the edge of my seat. The characters had depth, the plot was amazing and the message was inspirational. I definitely recommend this book. I was given a copy of this book by the publisher and was under no obligation to leave a review.

Weaver's Needle is a modern day treasure hunt with suspense and romance added in. It is a book that draws you into the suspense and keeps you guessing.

Landry Parker and Nickolai Baptiste are competing recovery experts. They have been summonsed to the home of a wealthy widow that offers them a large payment if they are able to recover a treasure map. Both Landry and Nick have their own reasons for needing the large payment so both set off to recover the map. Initially the two work independently but when Landry and Nick find themselves in dangerous situations, they compare notes and begin to work collectively. They also begin to have feelings for one another. They soon find themselves in a hunt for clues that lead them right into Native American sacred grounds.

Weaver's Needle keeps you guessing. They characters are likable and you find yourself rooting for them to have a lasting romance. Landry's faith is clear and the message of salvation is subtle but written well.

An intriguing plot, with plenty of action, and a romance to boot, made this an entertaining read! Characters who struggle with family concerns, including mental health issues, and the fight to survive as they hunt for a lost treasure map, made for interesting reading. Faith and doubts based on difficult life experiences added an inspirational side to the story. The romance went from zero to sixty in a short time, with a quick reconciling of faith, which seemed a little bit bumpy, but worked out in the end. The mixing in of Native American traditions and spiritualism fit the story well, given the Arizona setting, and added tension to the plot.
Recommend to readers who enjoy romantic suspense!

WEAVER'S NEEDLE by Robin Caroll , and Barbour Publishers.
Landry is a recovery specialist, as is Nickolai, they both meet at a client's home. A wealthy widow wants them to retrieve a map that was stolen from her late husband. Of the Dutchman's Lost Gold Mine, the document stolen before he could get to the bank, and deposit it. These 2 need the money, but why pit them against one another. Who gets it first, gets the money..the cop in Nickolai, keeps saying it's evidence in the murder of her husband. Cashier check for a million to buy the map, was it now on the black market. Landry asking why did she take it, was it just the money or the challenge. Nickolia calls his friend on the force, what's their take on the document, they have it as an "alleged document." No map, no briefcase, even with all the security cameras There was another bidder, and what about Stan, who has been with the company a long time, yet, wanting Mr. Winslet to slow down. The intrigue has just begun, the story line was good, characters well defined. Another good mystery by Robin for all to enjoy, and looking forward to her next book. Given ARC by Net Galley for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.

"Weaver's Needle" is a Christian romantic suspense novel. Both Nick and Landry are recovery specialists who use a chunk of cash. They both accept a challenge by a rich, newly-widowed woman to recover a treasure map that went missing when her husband was murdered.

The two initially worked on their own, but they soon realized the only way to survive and succeed was to work together. And they made a great team. They even had different approaches so they weren't just repeating the same efforts or ideas. The suspense came from the frequent physical danger from the murderer (who wanted them gone), scorpions, and "ghost warrior" Native Americans who guarded the mine.

There were detailed scenes of some shamans making petitions to their Great Spirit and a vision quest, and some locals believed the Native Americans guarding the mine were spirits/ghosts. In contrast, Landry prayed a few, brief prayers, and Nick let go of his anger toward God. It seemed like more time was spent on the shaman's religion than on God. There was no bad language or sex. Overall, I'd recommend this exciting adventure.

Landry Parker and Nickolai Baptiste are in competition against each other to find a lost map. They were hired by a client whose husband was murdered for this map. The first one who finds this map will get a hefty finder's fee. By the middle of the book they learn they must work together to find the map. Their lives are in constant danger. Someone does not want them to find the map. Both the main characters were likeable and each had a good motive to find the map. I did not like this book as well as I have Robin Caroll's previous books. At times I got confused with all the legend thrown on. The book did get suspenseful toward the end.

Thanks to Barbour Press and Netgalley for providing me an e-copy of this book to read and review. Weaver's Needle will be published on June 1, 2017.

Former Army MP Landry Parker and former Police Officer Nickolai Baptiste work as rival recovery specialists in New Orleans. A wealthy widow, whose husband was recently murdered, offers them the chance to earn $50,000. The catch is that only one of them will be paid. They must compete to recover a stolen map that could possibly reveal the location of the Lost Dutchman's Mine in the Superstition Mountains.
They travel to Arizona separately but soon find themselves working together. Vehicles are sabotaged, threats are made, and rooms are ransacked. Someone definitely wants them out of the way. Then a mysterious stranger offers to help them with their investigation. They have to decide whether to trust and work with him.
I found the mystery in this story to be interesting. A lot of people come in contact with either the original map or a copy. There are multiple suspects for the murder and for the threats and attacks that Landry and Nickolai face. The author incorporates the Lost Dutchman legend, Native American legends, dream quests, and dream visions into the story. Readers easily believe that the mine might actually be protected by mystic people. Landry and Nickolai find common ground in family tragedies as they begin to fall in love. Since this is also a story of faith and finding God, I recommend it to readers of Christian suspense and Christian romance.
