Another fab installment of the Helen Grace series. Loved the 'real' time format it was written in. The chapters are short and sharp which enables a fast read.

Following events from the previous book, Helen Grace is back at Southampton Central. Fast paced with twists and turns throughout. Set over the course of just under 24 hours, Helen and her team are following the trail of victims left behind on the murderer's current spree. Seemingly unconnected, Helen must decipher the evidence and try to stop them in their tracks before it gets too far out of hand.

Book 7 in the Helen Grace series and it's a good one. I really love the character of Grace, vulnerable but strong and fearless. This series is improving all the time and fans will enjoy this book. Thanks to Net Galley for my copy.

Another amazing book in the M.J Arlidge DI Helen Grace series.

This book takes you on a police chase to hunt down a serial killer who is on a killing spree! As always, Arlidge grabbed my attention from the start and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout!

'Hide and Seek' is still my favourite in the series but this book definitely does not disappoint!

As always, I thoroughly enjoyed this instalment and it was good to be back out on the street with Helen again after the last book centred on her internment. The killer’s motives were unclear until very near the end, coming together cleverly within the final chapters.

There was a slight shock within the concluding pages, that I won’t reveal, but I am eager to see unfold and the affect it will have within the next story.

D.I Helen Grace is back in book number 7 and this book will set your pulse racing as fast as her new Kawasaki motorbike. Probably the best in the series so far. I highly recommend it and give it 5 big fat stars!

Trouble with this book is that you fly through it at the same pace as it is written so you are left wanting more when it is all over. Book 8 please!!! A brilliant read!

Best yet

This is a very compact book with the events happening over 24 hours. It is a really tense thriller and I think it's the best Helen Grace book yet.

It's begins with the murder of an ordinary family woman and spreads to more poor victims. It is not a case of who's dunnit really because you find out early on who the murderer is, but why???

The old familiar characters are there but this time it's not really about Helen. It's a fast moving story and I read it in a day. It's one of those that you really don't want to put down, as it all about the thrill of the chase.

This book was my first encounter with Helen but hopefully not the last. A fast paced story set over 24 hours. Full of emotions that makes you have sympathy for Daisy the young girl who's life has been one let down after another. Excellent writing that keeps you hooked from page one.

Another great instalment in this series, can't wait for the next one.

After her period of incarceration, DI Helen Grace is back on the streets of Southampton doing what she does best, catching criminals. The most interesting aspect of this book is the effect her unjust imprisonment will have on Helen and how she will be able to work with those who doubted, or even betrayed her. As always from M J Arlidge, the action is fast- moving, the characters are well portrayed and this series continues to be compelling!

This is one of my favourite authors, so as soon as I got this book I dropped everything to start reading it. This is the 7th in the series, and as with all the previous books in the series this one didn't disappoint.

I love M J Arlidge's style of writing, the storyline grips you from the beginning and doesn't let up. This is a very, very fast-paced book told over a 24 hour period. Two people go on a killing spree and its up to Helen Grace and her team to catch them as quickly as possible.

I finished the book in a day and I have to say this is my second favourite book in the series. I can't wait for the next one!

The opening of this book is fast and hard hitting. This has been the case with all of this author's books so far. He is someone who works pace and tension extremely well. A woman driving to work is flagged down by a girl who is with someone on the side of the road who appears seriously injured or dead - all is not as it first seems. By chance Helen Grace (DI) is first on the scene and a fast moving "man hunt" is just one of the consequences.

An edgy and somewhat damaged Helen Grace is finding it hard to work with the team who were responsible for her arrest and conviction previously. The exception is Charlie who worked very hard in the last book to prove Helen innocent. This twist in the overall story thread worked well for me and keeps a series that might become formulaic from doing so. Another change is that this book runs in a real time way with times creating a real sense of immediacy. Arlidge has always been very good at managing pace and tension but this device took it up a notch for me.

The books starts fast and violent and continues that way. If ever there was a book that deserved the line "fast paced, tense police thriller" this would certainly be high on any list. I do like the way this author has managed to keep this series fresh. I've read a number of crime series over the years and they do tend to become a little predictable sometimes. This is a great thriller read for me (as have been the previous books in this series) however I do think that this works on more than one level. I think it is interesting to reflect of Helen, a character with some real difficulties in both her past and present, and compare her with Daisy, a key character in this book. There is more to these books than simple thriller action.

I confess that this is probably one of my favourite authors and series currently. I can only hope that the author who has maintained a high level of quality drama so far in seven books (& a short story) can continue this very good work for some time to come. I'd recommend this book and the series to anyone who likes good tense crime reads. However I would suggest starting at book one if you haven't tried the series yet. Fans will want to read this anyway.

First of all, I must say - what an opener! Wow. Helen Grace and her fast paced storylines are back with a bang, and after a couple of slightly slower paced novels from MJ Arlidge recently, I couldn't be more pleased. The story got straight into the action and kept it going right until the very end. I liked that we still get a glance into Helen's psyche, but the pace of the story isn't compromised or slowed down by pages upon pages of her ruminations. A brilliant read, roll on book 8!

well, After receiving the confirmation that I had been approved for an ARC copy of this book I scared my husband by YAYYing loudly, I'd recently heard that this was going to be the last we will hear of Helen for a bit, because M J Arlidge was very cruelly taking a break from her, I was worried this was because her story had ran out so to speak, and this new book was going to be a very weak case in

BOY WAS I WRONG! I've been a firm fan of the Helen Grace books since the moment I innocently plucked Eeny Meeny from the sale rail, what I've always loved is how three dimensional the characters were. Not your average perfect cop and evil bad guy, every character is a shade of grey, well maybe not Charlie, shes always reminded me of a young Kate Beckett aha, ( OMG STANA SHOULD TOTALLY PLAY HELEN GRACE, CAN YOU IMAGINE?! but I digress )

Love Me Not, our seventh visit with Helen, is entirely different from the first six, but this is in no way a bad thing, we have moved on from serial killers, to a spree killer, the format changing from days/weeks of investigation, to a blow by blow minute by minute description of the events as they unfold. once again we have a fully three dimensional ' bad guy ' one who's motives do not justify the crime, but at least make you understand it in a strange way. I myself have, in the moment, wished bad things on those who have committed a similar sin against me.


The only part of the book that disappointed me was the ending... as in it had one lol , finishing this book was like bidding a fond fair well to a dear friend, but just like one revisits old memories of friends held dear, I know I will revisit my friend Helen again.

I'm really enjoying mj books. I loved the story and the characters. Apart from the villians. They were evil. I really wanted Helen and her team to get them. I liked the ending too. I hope there is more to come from Helen and her team. 5*. Highly recommended. Thanks netgalley and penguin books.

In this book we find Helen Grace a free woman. She has her life back after being released from Holloway Prison, her reputation intact and her old job back. A pair of teenagers are on the loose in Southampton with an agenda to murder those who have, in their opinion, let them down. After shooting dead several people, I won't give the plot away, the female killer murders a member of Helen's team, now our heroine is determined to stop this girl. Using all her skills she meets up with her. I could not put this book down, reading very late into the night. Helen Grace at her best.

This is another great read in the Helen Grace series. Helen has returned to her job with the Southampton police after being wrongly accused of murder and imprisoned in Holloway. Bridges still need to be built with some of her colleagues who had been instrumental in what happened to her.
The action in this book takes place over one day, starting with the murder of a woman on a country road. It quickly becomes evident that the perpetrators are a young couple who appear to be relishing what they're doing and are intent on a killing spree, staying one step ahead of the police all the way. This is a fast paced, exciting read which will keep you on the edge of your seat til the end. Thanks to NetGalley for a preview copy.

I have read all the other books in the series but unfortunately this was my least favourite as I missed the mystery of the whodunit. I still like the characters but thought we heard less from the other characters like Charlie in this book. I would still look forward to future books in this series but perhaps if it returns to its past standard.

The author is back to his best in this book. Was put off the series after the last book as it wasnt anywhere near as good as the rest. But glad to say this one had everything you needed. suspense, hanging on the edge of your chair. gore and interesting storyline. Great to see Grace back to her best and look forward to another book in the series
