Marco is the CEO of his family empire. Senna is the sweet and sexy intern that has caught his attention, but Marco doesn't mix business and pleasure. What could happen if he gave in to temptation? Senna disappears the morning after only to find out that she is pregnant. She tries to get in touch with him but he is gone and no one will help her reach him. Senna is taking care of Max and bartending to make ends meet when who shows up at the bar but sexy Marco. He wants to take care of Max but where will Senna fit in after all Marco is the first born in a traditional family that believes in arranged marriages and loyalty to family. This is the first book in the Medina Legacy Series and I look forward to the next installment in the series |
3.5 stars This was a quick and easy read with some of of my favorite elements. Interesting plot including a secret baby. And characters who develop, grow and make hard decisions to try to obtain their happily ever after. Marco and Senna's lives are changed after one night when they give in to the attraction between them. But a year goes by with no contact after that. Marco comes storming back into her life demanding access to her son despite her failed attempts to get ahold of him. While their attraction might still be there, there are plenty of things standing in their way and ultimately Marco will have to decide if his family expectations or his newly created family are more important to him. Ultimately this was a pretty solid story with a good plot flow, some interesting twists and great chemistry between the leading characters. I loved the secret baby angle and felt like it was done pretty well. I think the only thing that prevented me from enjoying this story more was that I felt that this was supposed to be a contemporary romance and yet it almost seems the reasons keeping the main characters apart were a little more old school then something likely to happen nowadays. I get that it was tradition, I just personally would have liked to see a little more to it then firstborn obligation. That being said it was a pretty good story with solid writing. Just enough angst and steam to keep things interesting. I would definitely be willing to check out more from this author in future. ~Shy |
Amazing storyline. I had really enjoyed reading this book. I would reccomend this book. |
His Family of Convenience is a quick little read, with a touch of a Cinderella story, some secret baby, and a second-chance romance thrown in for good measure. There isn't a whole lot of depth to the story--as soon as you think Marco and Senna have run into an insurmountable problem, it's solved fairly quickly soon after--but still it was an entertaining read. The two of them are very cute together, and Max, of course, is absolutely adorable. The push-and-pull aspect of the story (his original plan for Max and Senna, which he abandons almost immediately after seeing his son and she never finds out about...they can't be together and push each other away and seconds later are in each other's arms...he can't give up his place in the company and loyalty to his family, or can he?) was a bit much at times, but still there's definite promise in Ms. Ayers' writing. We don't really get to know the other Medinas terribly well here--the focus is really on Senna and Marco and Max--but still, I'll be keeping an eye open for more of The Medina Legacy in the future. Rating 3 1/2 stars / B- I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. |
Senna hasn't seen her ex-boss Marco since their one night stand. She's tried to get in touch with him but he always ignores her. After a year of this, he sweeps back into her life revealing he knows her secret. He wants to be there for his son but he has no plans for his future that involve Senna. He is supposed to have an arranged marriage but will he be able to go through with it? I was beyond frustrated with Marco and his attitude towards Senna. Maybe it's because I was a single mom for a little while, but I wanted to slap Senna and tell her to stand up for herself. At the same time, I got why she didn't but she deserved for Marco to at least consider planning a future with her long before he realized she might be what he wants. Overall I did enjoy the story and wanted to find out what happened. It kept me entertained for sure. |
His Family of Convenience is sexy, but a little angsty. Senna hasn't had an easy life at all. Her grandmother, who raised her, is sick, and Senna is taking care of her, Senna's own son, and herself, all while working two jobs and looking for more, just so she can keep the lights on at home. Thank God for her best friend and roommate, Abby, who is a live in baby sitter and all around amazing person. Then one day while working at the bar, lo and behold, but whom does she see? Her hot ex boss, the father of her baby. Senna and Marco had had a one night stand after her internship with his company ended, and then she never saw him again. She tried, MANY, MANY times to get a hold of him to let him know she was pregnant, but he never responded, so this whole time Senna has thought he didn't want to have anything to do with her and their son. She's been scraping by, working her tail off just to keep themselves off the streets, and Marco's been living in the lap of his family's luxury. God, the nerve of the man just showing up. And he knows about their son and assumed Senna had been keeping him from her, when the truth was the opposite. Sigh...that miscommunication thing again... Quite frankly, Marco was a serious d-bag in the beginning. He ordered her around, tried to take charge, was angry at her for something she wasn't guilty of, then had the nerve to keep laying his hands on her all while engaged to be married. Yep, I said engaged to be married and yet, he still can't keep his pants zipped. Yes, the engagement and the upcoming marriage are a business transaction between Marco and his fiancée's families, and neither wants to marry the other, but still, if he's engaged to one woman he shouldn't have been dragging Senna into his bed and into his stupid family's mess. Thank God Senna has enough backbone to get herself out of that mess, and took herself and her son back home. She refuses to the other woman, a mistress, even if both Marco and his fiancée are OK with him having other lovers. Senna, at least, values her pride and dignity far too much to put herself through that. It wasn't until toward the end that Marco redeemed himself when he decided that he couldn't do what his family was dictating, and went to Miami to get his family back. That was when he finally grew a backbone and decided his son and the woman he loved were more important than some stupid tradition his family was insisting he participate in. Until that point, I did not like Marco at all. After he grew some balls, I finally had some respect for him and a little like. I never fell in love with him the way Senna did, but at least he finally grew up. I like Senna, though, and had all the respect in the world for her for the way she took care of her family. And then there's Abby, she's amazing! The secondary cast is impressive. I'm hoping a book might be coming for Abby next. |
This was a lot more fun than what I was expecting. I thought okay alpha male gets what he wants, end of story. Well, not so fast…
Senna Callas is an intern that had worked at Medina Enterprises. She was rough around the edges but a fast learner and brought a lot to the table. A person who could think out of the box and be taught too.
The more Marco Medina the CEO of the company worked with her the more he wanted to get to know her and want her. He tried to tell himself for a long time it was for professional reasons. Especially, since he has a no dating employees rule. But, as time went on he found himself setting private meetings with her. His feelings became stronger for her.
Then, the next thing was business lunches, brushes up against her and heads together for long project chats. But it wasn’t until the graduation party when he singled her out and to take her up to his rooftop suite. Where they made love all night. When morning came, she was long gone. It was all too much for her she needed to think. He wanted to go after her but he needed to shower and start work. He was disappointed.
After changing and going down to his office his world tilted forever.
Marco’s father suffered a stroke. He and his sibling flew home to Barcelona to be with the family. Oh yes, Brynn was with them on the private jet. Who’s Brynn? She’s his fiancé at the office she’s just known as Medina Enterprises communications liaison.
You see it turns out when she and Marco were infants it was decided that they would be married. Doesn’t matter if they love one another or want to be with one another it’s only business. A woman on the side was an agreed upon understanding.
Yet, now over a year later, Marco is back in Miami and he is demanding an appearance with Senna and her secret that he just found out about. Which Senna is pissed about since she tried texting, calling, emailing, and even tried even showing up at the office to talk about but was turned away. So, no secret about it. If there was no response it was on his part and she was the injured party no him. He is the deadbeat, not her.
See how these two make it out alive without wanting to kill one another. How do you get a heart to stop loving someone your pissed at? I give this book 5 stars. Provided by netgalley.com. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com.

3.5 stars His Family of Convenience by Amy Ayers was a well written and very entertaining read. The storyline held my attention all throughout the book, the characters Senna and Marco were strong, passionate and very stubborn people who knew what they wanted out of life and went after it. While I did enjoy His Family of Convenience I did find it a little off putting how long it takes our hero, Marco to realise he can't be without Senna, and that she means more to him than a legacy that in the end was easy to work around. These two share a strong attraction, they had amazing chemistry and I enjoyed watching them together. Overall, His Family of Convenience is a heartwarming and emotional read with strong characters that will capture your attention. This is the first book in The Medina Legacy series and I'm looking forward to the next book. *Purchase Links.* Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/His-Family-Con... This book is not bad, so I will give it a 3 star, however, I could not condone Senna's behavior. Senna had Marco's son, while working for him, and then Marco leaves the states. Senna tried to get in contact with him and hears nothing from him, so she assumes he wants nothing to do with her child. Marco is upset that Senna had not informed him of his child. But the truth comes out, however he is supposed to marry someone else in a months time, and all thru this, Senna is sleeping with him, and thinking that eventually he will chose her. But he doesn't so she leaves and goes about her life, she will still allow him visitation. Marco is heartbroken, and finally decides he wants his own life, and he goes after her. |
His Family of Convenience was A-FREAKING-MAZING. No lie I so enjoyed this book. The characters, the story, everything from start to finish had me flipping the pages in rapid succession. Amy Ayers is a new author to me, but she is on my forever love list. Senna has a one-night stand with her super sexy boss one night at an office party before Senna’s internship ended. Marco had never been attracted to anyone the way he was with Senna and so he wanted her bad. When a family emergency forces them apart Senna assumes he doesn’t want anything to do with her or her son. Now Senna’s life is a daily struggle of keeping the lights on, working two jobs, taking care of her sick grandmother and her son. Enter Marco: Marco just found out he has a son and he’s ticked. Seriously he barges into Senna’s life pushing her around and demanding things from her time and time again. He’s super rude about it. He thought Senna kept his son from him, which wasn’t the case, but yeah it causes some problems. Marco uproots Senna’s and their sons’ life to his family estate to have Max meet his family. Can we say Drama anyone? This book was so good. I am definitely going to pick up the rest of the books in this series and any other books by this author because they’re amazing. Senna has a weakness for Marco and wants a real family like he has and that she never got. At the same time, she’s not going to be Marco’s live in mistress simply because it would make Marco happy. I like that in the end she stands up for herself and does whatever it takes to make sure Max (her son) has the best upbringing he could have. Marco is a bit of a douche bag in the beginning. He’s used to getting his way and Senna kind of pushes him to understand his way isn’t the only or even the best way. I really liked Marco towards the end, but I didn’t feel all the time like he was sincere or if he was always manipulating Senna to get what he wanted. Overall though I enjoyed this story bunches and am definitely going to have to re-read this bad boy a couple times. It’s nice and quick, with some very steamy scenes. |

His Family of Convenience by Amy Ayers is a 2nd chance love story which is one of my favorite types of books to read. Senna Callas had one night stand with her boss Marco Medina at the end of her internship. She worked all those months with him and everything exploded with him at the end of her time with her boss into a night of passion. It was hot and beautiful, a night that couldn’t be stopped or denied. But after that night, she never heard from Marco again. Senna has not had an easy life and her life after her internship has really been rough. After years of hard work, Senna has her degree, but an unexpected surprise takes her life in a different direction to where she least expected it. No matter what, Senna works for what she gets, and she does it with a smile, knowing someday everything will pay off. I found myself really liking her work ethics and her overall character. But Marco-well he is another story. Marco has always had it easy. From a wealthy family, he has never wanted for anything or ever had to struggle. Until Senna changed everything. When Senna realized her surprise, she did try to get a hold of Marco but he never returned her call. Now Marco is back in her life, thinking she hid from him, hid this life changing secret so now Marco is super rude and nasty to her, making her life miserable. He comes back into Senna's life and takes over. What Marco did, some of the plans he's got cooking , had me uneasy. He became this person that I didn’t recognize and he took out his pain on the wrong person. There is some villians in this story but will Marco realize who the true villain is before he destroys the wrong person? I like Senna but Marco , at times, his actions left me cold. Overall this is a good and quick read and could have been fantastic if not for some of the hero’s actions. My rating: 4.0 stars **** "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*** |

Senna had landed a coveted internship at the esteemed Medina Enterprises. Marco Medina was so good looking But that was a year ago. Now Marco was at the beachside bar that Senna worked at. Even though Marco had jokingly insulted her job while Senna’s body was remembering what it was like to be close to him even though she shouldn’t. Working for Marco had been a master class of global business and international supply chain management. She spent the year trying to pretend she was not hot for Marco. Then one night on the rooftop terrace of his downtown office building marco and Senna slept together, Marco said to Senna he thought senna was going to apply for one of the sales positions after she graduated and Senna had said yeah she was going to . But she knew the bar was an honest place to work and her hard won tips kept her afloat. when all other options seemed to dry up. Then Senna said she was just waiting for the right opportunity Marco didn’t seem happy with what she was wearing and Senna was secretly pleased. Senna had tried to contact Marco several times for several months but Marco didn’t answer any of her texts, calls, or emails. Senna was also doing freelance bookkeeping to help make ends meet. Marco knew Senna was keeping a secret from him and for a smart girl that wasn’t the wisest decision. After their night together Marco had family obligations he had to tend to. Marco was bound by traditions and loyalties centuries in the making. Abby was Senna roommate she had wondered into Senna’s life when she was pregnant and couldn’t afford to see a regular doctor and went to the free clinic while Abby was studying to get her nurse practitioner degree. The two became friends. Then Abby was looking for a room to rent and moved in with Senna when her grandma had to go to a long care facility. When Max was born Abby loved the baby boy and Abby’s schedule allowed Seena to work at the bar while she watched Max. Then Marco’s driver showed up at Senna’s apartment the next day and said Marco wanted Senna and Max to come to his office. Senna at first wasn’t going to go but she wanted Max to get to know his father and have him in Max’s life. So Senna got ready and went with Max to meet with Marco. Marco wanted to take Max to meet his family. Senna would not let Max go without her especially since she was breastfeeding but she refused to separated from her baby either way. So Senna and Max went to Marco’s ancestral home to meet Marco’s ailing father. Then Senna found out his ancestral home was actually a castle. There Senna learned Marco was to marry within the month. It was an arranged marriage but Marco had been raised it was his duty. Finally Senna could no longer take the pain so she went back to Miami. I love this story. It was a quick read and I thoroughly enjoy this story. It was predictable but that didn’t take away from the story as far as I am concerned. I choked up at times and smiled at others. I loved the plot also. I loved how Marco changed his whole way of thinking and his life for the woman and child he loved. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I highly recommend. |

Title: His Family of Convenience Series: The Medina Legacy Author: Amy Ayers Genre: Indulgence, Romance ISBN: 9781633759107 A second chance love from a one nightstand that gives them a son. Senna never knew her father she wanted and expected so much more from herself. She never thought she would be walking in her mother’s shoes. A one nightstand with her boss leaves her pregnant and alone when she doesn’t see him after that night. She did have a support system from her wonderful roommate. She just never dreamed her child would never know his father. Life is not easy for her but she still stood her ground standing proud not letting life get her down. That is until she looked across the bar to see the one man she never thought she see again. Marco is everything we would want our man to be, he has honor putting his family first. He is kind, strong and puts others first, being one handsome hunk doesn’t hurt either. He had planned to follow through with the arranged marriage that is until Senna come into his life. One night was more than he could forget and when he found he had a son it was more than he could walk away from. I had mixed feeling with Marco he makes demand after walking out on her without so much as a good bye. I was not a happy camper and wanted to shake him asking him just who did he think he was. This is what I think the author wanted. Then she throws a twist in that almost has him endearing to us. His family loyalty we saw a different side of him. He is kind, loving and really wants to do as his family wants. He is torn but finally puts his self first making us feel deeply for him. I thought it was a good read, a few thing I wish the author had went more in depth about. It was a well paced read with twists and turns that made it interesting and held my attention. I liked the characters and supporting characters. The author knows how to hook her reader and keeping you hooked. I look forward to the next book in this series. |

Marco has a strict rule of never engaging in relationships with his staff. He only broke his rule once with an intern but family duties called him home. Now a year later, he learns that that one night has given him a child and that child is the heir to his family's massive fortune. Senna tried to get in touch with Marco when she learned that she was pregnant with her child but assumed that he had abandoned them. She is happy to have Marco involved with his child but she will not allow him to take over their lives. When she learns that Marco is engaged, it leads to confusion and frustration. Marco is committed to fulfilling his family's expectations for him but can he forget the one woman who may be worth walking from it for? I liked this story but never really felt connected to the characters. Senna and Marco were both pretty frustrating in their stubbornness but once they connected with each other, I was rooting for them to work it out. |

His Family of Convenience was a quick read for me. Marco has known all his life what his obligations to family are - what his duty is; such duty that leaves his options slim. So when he discovers that he's got a child - a child he knew nothing about- he's all in -- on teh fatherhood front at least. But claiming his role as Father does not mean he's not duty bound to his family and therefore the situation between himself and the child's mother is not cut and dry. Senna thought Marco knew about their son but didn't care. She thought he was a jerk who had no desire to be apart of her or their son's life. When he shows up after so long, claiming to have never known - she knows there's more going on than a disinterested man, but she could have no idea what she would discover about Marco and his plans for the future. The chemistry between Marco and Senna was great, there was such a connection between them, even when they were upset with each other. But Marco was so deep in his father's wishes, in the role he thought he had to play that he kept pushing aside his own desires - his own wants, and in doing so created more problems for himself and Senna. I loved that Senna did her best to try to do right by her son and Marco - even if it meant her own heartbreak. I loved that she stood firm in her demand that she deserved everything from Marco - or nothing - she wasn't going to accept only part of him. There were so many complications in Marco's life - twists that I didn't expect, theories that I had come to at the start of the book, that I was clearly wrong on. I loved the unpredictability of this story - it was not what I had expected but rather so much better. The emotions drawn out in this story added an extra level of intrigue, keeping me wondering how things were going to turn out for both Senna and Marco and of course their son. This was my first book by Amy Ayers, and I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to reading more in the future. |
His Family of Convenience by Amy Ayers is the first installment in The Medina Legacy Series. This book is a romance novel with HEA. Meet Marco Medina, oldest son and heir to the Medina imperium. He's filthy rich, handsome and to be wed in a arranged marriage. Senna Calla is a waitress who's ONS with her ex-boss was not without consequences. Suddenly he's back and he has plans of his own. Plans without Senna in the picture. I liked the writing and I liked the characters, though sometimes I was speechless. In His Family of Convenience you'll meet with a headstrong hero and a lovely and strong heroine. Thank you Amy Ayers, 4 Stars. |
His Family of Convenience by Amy Ayers was a second chance at love romance. When Senna Callas had one night with her boss at the end of her internship, she thought that was all it would be. After months of working together, their attraction could not be denied. But after that night, she never heard from Marco again. Senna has not had an easy life. Struggling most of her life, she is no stranger to hard work and determination to get what she wants. After years of hard work, she has her degree, but an unexpected surprise catapults her life where she least expected it. I really liked Senna. She has struggled all her life, but still is strong and determined, even when life weighs her down. Marco Medina has always had it easy. From a wealthy family, he has never wanted for anything. But even when you have it all, expectations can be demanding. His family expects him to continue family tradition and marry the woman picked for him as a child. He has always known this was his destiny and never gave it a second thought. Until Senna changed everything. Now everything is a mess. Marco wants his son, but cannot have Senna. Senna wants Marco, but will never be the other woman. Marco is set to marry and nothing will deter him. But as Senna and Marco spend time together, their attraction grows. And in the middle is the child they both love and want. I truly enjoyed this story. It had just the right amount of angst, chemistry and romance. I really liked Senna. Nothing would keep her down and she was determined to give her son everything she could. Marco was hot, alpha and very dominant, but the more time he spent with Senna, she began to see other sides of him. But duty and family means everything to Marco, even if it costs him this new found family. This was a new twist to a second chance at love story. I enjoyed the story very much. I loved Marco and Senna and all his crazy family. And though it drove me crazy how determined Marco felt over his duty to family, you clearly understand why as you read. I would recommend his Family of Convenience. This was a great read with romance, a bit of angst and a few laughs. Happy reading! |
