Nice collection of new books. Still slightly disappointed with the fact that most if not all excerpts were publisher before, but still a nice reminder of the new books coming. Especially appreciate the list with books to come at the start. May seems like a very promising month (as usual).

MAY BUZZ BOOKS MONTHLY is another great collection of excerpts and lists of forthcoming titles. SO many books that I hope to read, including many that are available through Net Galley. Some local connections include author Scott Turow (TESTIMONY, Grand Central, 5/16 ) and Condoleezza Rice (DEMOCRACY, Twelve, 5/9) who will be speaking at New Trier in mid-May. I am especially looking forward to reading these works (excerpted in MAY BUZZ BOOKS MONTHLY): SALT HOUSES BY Hala Alyan and THE BEST OF ADAM SHARP by Graeme Simsion.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for sending me a digital ARC of so many exciting new books. I must say I am over the top excited about “Mockingbird Songs: My Friendship with Harper Lee” by Wayne Flynt. The excerpt was beautiful and intriguing. I know the patrons of the library where I work will be ecstatic to learn more about Harper Lee.

These previews are convenient and concise. Would love to have excerpts/samples that are different from those featured in the seasonal Buzz Books.

Keep up the good work! This is one of the best sources to find out everything about the upcoming releases and I make sure to follow it each month and each season.

Between Them caught my attention because of the references to Arkansas, my home state. It's not a popular state as far as the setting of books, but I always love to read a book and see a reference to a town I've been in a thousand times. Since We Fell also looks fairly interesting.

I wasn't interested in any of the May books. Just not for me!

The publishing calendar makes it worth picking up Buzz Books every month - I always find must-read titles that I didn't know about!

My first time picking up a Buzz Books Monthly and honestly, I was kind of impressed. Sure, I’ve seen the editions posted on NetGalley, plenty of times, but for some unknown reason, I never paid them much attention. Something made me download May’s edition though and I’m glad I did. Not only is there a comprehensive list of the upcoming releases in May, by genre, but there are seven featured books that include samples. Just enough of the book to decide if - (1) you connect with the author’s writing, (2) your curiosity is piqued enough to download the entire book, and (3) you feel the inkling to step outside of your comfort zone and try something different.

Salt Houses by Hala Alyan - Pretty cover, meaningful description, but not something I’m in the mood to read right now. That’s not to say I wouldn’t consider it in the future.

Between Them by Richard Ford - While this sounds like a heartfelt read, something I would normally reach for, I didn’t find myself connecting with the sample. I’m going to pass on this one.

Since We Fell by Dennis Lehane - The cover stood out to me immediately and that opening line of the sample was jolt! I haven’t read anything from this author before, but I’m definitely curious now. Not sure if this is the one I want to start with though.

Mr. Rochester by Sarah Shoemaker - First, I have to mention the beautiful cover—that alone grabbed my attention. Second, I’m in the midst of reading Jane Eyre now, which leaves me excited at the thought of Mr. Rochester’s side of the story. This is definitely going on my list.

The Fact of a Body by Alexandria Marzano-Lesnevich - I’m obsessed with true crime shows and podcasts, but to be honest, I haven’t dabbled much in true crime books. The sample piqued my interest enough to consider giving it a chance.

The Best of Adam Sharp by Graeme Simsion - I have to be honest, despite the praise for The Rosie Project, I wasn’t a big fan. So for that reason alone, I’m going to pass on this one.

Flame In The Mist by Renee Ahdieh - I’m not much of a YA reader. The few times I do have the inkling to pick up a YA book, it’s definitely not in fantasy genre. This is a hard no for me.

Ever since I discovered these a couple of months ago, I've kept an eye out for them. The excerpts are great, and combined with the lists of upcoming releases, help me grow my TBR tremendously (which could be construed as a bad thing since it's so out of hand already, but is actually a fantastic thing because I love books). Can't wait for the Fall/Winter next month!

Another great collection of extracts to get me excited about books due for release next month.

Quite an eclectic collection this time. Most books were surprisingly not my cup of tea. Never mind, they can't always cater a mag like this just for me, can they? Haha, Well done Net Galley. Another superb group of excerpts.
