Once and For All starts off deliciously cynical. While we all know that Sarah Dessen's books are going to feature some serious romance, it's definitely going to be interesting to see how we get there. Who knows more about love than the daughter of a wedding planner? And who knows more about love gone bad than the daughter of a wedding planner? I can't wait to finish this book - the Sneak Peak has me ready for more! |
This is such a fun preview. One thing that I love about Sarah's books is the job she gives her characters and the interesting people who come into their lives because of the job. After I read this short preview, I immediately picked up another book by Sarah that I had not yet read. And I devoured it! I'm excited to read Once and for All and have ordered a copy from one of Sarah's book tour signing. I'll have it in my hands soon! |

Promising start. Classic Sarah Dessen, can't wait for the full book. |
After reading the sneak peek, I decided I couldn't wait for the library's copy to come in, so I purchased my own! Classic Dessen...never disappoints. |
I don't always like Sarah Dessen, but I Will definitely pick up the full copy of this! |

Louna's mom is a wedding planner (one of the best, actually; certainly the best in the town). She's helped out for basically ever, even though she's become rather cynical about the whole thing (not as cynical as her mom and godfather are, though). And then she meets Ambrose. There is a lot going on that I didn't mention. Those few lines don't even begin to really summarize this novel. What you should know: it's as good as anything Sarah Dessen has ever written and Louna may be my favorite heroine of hers. Recommended. |

I thought this was the entire book and didn't read the excerpt. |
Every time I dive into a new Sarah Dessen book, I'm reminded of why I love her writing so much! Once and For All is no different, and I am so happy to be able to get to know a new book by her! |
I have never read a Sarah Dessen book but this sounded absolutely wonderful, I can't wait to read the full book and explore more of this author. |
I've had a fascination with wedding planners for years, ranging from juvenile books (The Wedding Planner's Daughter) to television shows (Say Yes to the Dress). So, when I saw this preview, I had to check it out. I love Dessen's books and I suspect this one will be another winner! |
I loved this book. I read it in just a couple short sittings. Dessen, as always, takes you through the full gamut of emotion, from heartbreaking to hopeful (and back again several times). This book tackles tough topics while keeping things light enough for a young adult audience. Dessen has a gift for telling a compelling story, while maintaining character development, and including great dialogue. She's certainly one of my favorites. I can't wait to read the rest! Sarah Dessen's books make the best summer reads! |
I am passionate about the writing of Sarah Dessen and for me so far this book has the potential to be her best book. I'm just not going to say it's the best because I only got a sneak peek of the book from NetGalley and I do not know how it developed from the middle to the end, this passage can change a lot in an evaluation. The book tells the story of Louna, his mother and her mother best friend William, all three have a wedding organization and although they are successful in the field, they don’t believe in love . Each one has suffered in the past and ended up being disillusioned with the existence of a Happily Ever After. Louna has a very traumatic story and she tells the book, showing well the dilemmas and doubts of her jovial heart. I loved the cover very much, transmitted well the lightness and dynamism of the book. 4/5 stars. |
It's been quite some times since I've read a book by Sarah Dessen -- only because the list of books to read is so long -- and I was happy to be able to read this sneak peek. It reminded me of why I loved Ms. Dessen's books from the very beginning. Louna's character is sweet, and makes me want to find out if she gets her happily ever after as the daughter of a wedding planner. |

Talking about new YA titles ... I also had a chance to read a sneak peek excerpt of ONCE AND FOR ALL by Sarah Dessen. It was part of her latest novel (coming in early June) that features Louna, a soon-to-be high school graduate who spends summers working for her mother's wedding planning business. Filled with details like a preference for (the easier to manage) DJs over live bands and sitting strategically in the BRR (back row right) at weddings, ONCE AND FOR ALL promises a wonderful mix of romance and adventure as Louna is pursued by Ambrose, wayward brother of a bridal client. This latest book is sure to please the many fans of award winning author Dessen. |
I'm so excited for this book to release - the preview I read was great and lives up to the caliber of Dessen's previous work. There's something about her writing and the way she portrays the characters in it that makes you think you're a part of that world, and it makes you want to learn all you can about it. I'm excited to learn more! |
This was a great tease of what looks to be another spectacular Sarah Dessen book. I wasn't too much of a fan of the cliffhanger, but I'm definitely anxious to get my hands on this on publication day. |
I never read a Sarah Dessen book before, but heard just great things about this author. As I really love Contemporary I just needed to try reading something by her. And I loved this excerpt. I really wanted to read on and I'll definitely pick up some of Sarah Dessen's books after reading the Sneak Peek for Once and for all. This book in particular is quite high on my list, as I just loved what I read so far about the story. |
I haven't read contemporary YA in such a long time that I forgot how good it can be. This little sneak peek to Dessen's latest is an absolute gem so far. It definitely whet my appetite and I look forward to reading it in its entirety once it releases. It already feels like a great Summer book and Dessen is just one of those YA authors that can really bring it for me. |
I received a copy of this sneak peek from Viking Books through Netgalley. This is my honest review. This sneak peek gave me a small taste into the life of the daughter of a wedding planner, who, surprise surprise, gets/has to work for her mother over the summer helping to plan weddings. This is a position that I can almost relate to, as I worked in my father's grocery store when I was growing up (starting in 5th grade), but it was my choice to start working there, and it doesn't seem like Louna got that same choice. However, once I started working for my father, I was the person who got called in to work when the flaky high school kids called out sick, because Dad knew I wasn't busy. So I can relate to Louna having to work just because Mom says so. Because Mom knows exactly what commitments Louna has. This helped to draw me into the story a little bit. Now since this is only a three chapter sneak peek, I don't really have a very firm grasp of what is going on in the story at all. I am curious what role Ambrose will play, from the brief glimpse of him I got in Chapter Two, it seems that it will be significant.* I got a little bit giddy thinking about Louna and Ambrose dating over the summer while her mother is planning his sister's wedding. I would be interested in seeing how that plays out. I'm also very intrigued by a black dress and a pair of sandals that were mentioned in these early chapters. There's obviously a story there that I would like to hear. Now that being said, would I buy this book on release day? No. I would not. Contemporary romance is rather low on my list of preferred reading material, and while I occasionally enjoy it, I basically never find myself just dying to read it. I would buy a used copy at my thrift store, or snag it for my Kindle on sale. I would be interested in reading the rest of the story, but not interested enough to pay full new release price for it myself. *Yes, I realize the synopsis makes it clear that Ambrose plays a significant role in the story, but I didn't read the synopsis until after I wrote my review. |
