Tempting Her Neighbor by Laura Jardine is Book 1 of the Small Town Temptations Series.

I try my hardest to not be a “DNF” kinda girl but with this book I so wish I had stopped right after I started. It was trash. It was sex, all sex and nothing but sex. There was no story, nor any build-up, world and/or character-wise, and I wasn’t engaged or interested in either Rachel or Cole. There was no chemistry between the two, although there was a hell of a lot of sex...and this was a novella too. Ugh, so that should tell you something. Rachel is a slut and sleeps with any male that is breathing...honestly, I wouldn’t put it past her to do a corpse. With all her slutty ways, she is still surprised and hurt that no one sees beyond her dirty reputation. Gee, I wonder why?!?! And on that note, I shall be steering clear of any future reads from this author unless it comes highly recommended from a trusted source.

Right out the gate Ms. Jardine distanced herself from the pact. She took the saying "think like a man" to heart and created a woman full of contradictions. Rachel is as aggressive as can be when it comes to her sex drive, but although she dreams of forever, she settles for right now. Words and gossip are her worst enemy and love is a dream she will never see come true. Cole is her chance at a new beginning, if her rep and his aloof attitude don't doom them before they get a chance to begin. Tempting Her Neighbor will have hormones raging and hearts breaking as it seeks to blow one's mind.

Cole was hardly the picture of a romance novel hero, but this was the man she’d fallen for. Head over heels.

That quote. That quote right there pretty much sums up how I feel about the tempted neighbor in Tempting Her Neighbor. Cole was super grumpy—one of the grumpiest heroes I've come across—and it was refreshing. As was his not-giant height, his excellent and sexy AF dirty talk and openness, and general regular-guy appeal. How can you NOT fall for that?

TBH, this book was actually rather refreshing all around. I took some time to warm up to Rachel, but I loved that she had a 'reputation', that she owned her sexuality. It felt like a little role reversal, and I was 100% on board for that. Plus, she grew on me as the book progressed and her relationship with Cole warmed up. And, as an added bonus, she had this a-ha moment which turned it around from where's the communication? to thank goodness we aren't in high school anymore. All good stuff.

With some surprising (and welcome) kink, what Tempting Her Neighbor lacked in length—it was a quick and dirty read—it made up for in a cute small-town setting and a no-nonsense sex-turned-love story. While I wish there'd been a little more in the end, I closed this book feeling pretty good about this new-to-me author and series, and more than willing to head back to Georgeville in the future.

“Rude men are hot.”
“Says the woman with the sweet fiancé.”
“I’m not saying you should get engaged to a man like that. But for sex? Totally hot.”

~ FOUR STARS ~

I liked the dynamic of the more experienced woman and how she wasn't ashamed of her love of pleasure but the hero came off as very immature. The whole threesome thing came out of left field and seemed thrown in at the last minute. Very awkward to have the realization of love when having sex with someone else. I thought this book had a lot of potential it didn't live up to and I wasn't that interested in others from Georgeville to continue reading

This is a DNF @ 33% for me. I found nothing to like or keep me going. I didn’t like Rachel or Cole.

Rachel Malone is the town slut. She says she doesn’t like the label, but if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck…. She uses sex to pass the time and offset her small town boredom. She only does casual, no relationships. Cole Sampson comes to town and she sees fresh meat. She’s very aggressive and pushy and comes across as immature.

Cole Sampson moves to small town USA to get away from people and blend in to the background. He is not a nice person, doesn’t like people and doesn’t try to pretend otherwise.

There is no chemistry between these two. It’s all mechanical and perfunctory. The writing is clunky and juvenile. There is no substance or any resemblance of a story line.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.

Although Rachel Malone lived in Georgeville since she was born, there was nothing about that place that made her want to stay there. People were mean and talked trash about her without really knowing her. But the place didn’t look so bad when she got a new handsome neighbor. And before you ask, of course she’s interested. But not in a committed relationship.

Cole Sampson is tired of the city life in Toronto and decides to mode to a place where he knows no one will bother him. And that would be Georgeville. But the town doesn’t feel so calm and peaceful when his new hot and beautiful neighbor offers to help him move in. And, again, before you ask, of course he is interested. But he thinks she’s the type of girl to marry and that’s definitely not what he is looking for.

Will their first impressions, the so called thin slicing, be enough to keep them apart?

Let me start by saying this is kind of boring. Sex scenes are forced and uneventful. Rachel is not the kind of girl that I like to read about: she practically sleeps with any man she can get giving the fact that sex is the only source of fun in Georgeville. On the other side, I kind of liked Cole: he’s a sweet and cute guy, who doesn’t really like to socialize. And then there’s the lack of feelings which is a total deal breaker for me.

Thank you Netgaley and Entangled Publishing for the copy.

I really wanted to like this story, but frankly, both protagonists were absolutely annoying. The story had promise, but I couldn't identify with anyone in this book.

Tempting her Neighbor is a Canadian set erotic romance novella that takes place in the small fictional town of Georgeville, Ontario – population 1200. Well, 1200 and one if you count its new resident, Cole Sampson. He develops educational software so he can work from anywhere and he's moved here from Toronto for some peace and solitude. His neighbor Rachel Malone is quite a friendly young woman and makes it clear that she'd be interested in a sexual fling -but nothing long term, as her dreams are the opposite of his. She's almost made enough money to move away from the small town she's lived in her whole life and she won't be deterred. Cole can't deny that her not so subtle but welcome pursuit of him is flattering, as he hasn't had much experience with women. Rachel takes that in stride and introduces Cole to a whole world of sensual delights. But with both of them wanting different futures, can they find the common ground needed to make their affair permanent?

It's refreshing to read a story with a female character who loves sex. Unfortunately it's given her that stereotypical reputation as being 'easy' in this small town where everyone talks. Yes, she's slept with most of the males of her age, and she has a current friends with benefits relationship with a man she trusts. She doesn't let what other people say bother her, or deter her from doing what she wants. Though Cole hears about her sexual reputation from other men in town, he shows her with his actions and his words that he respects her and her choices. If anything, he admires this woman who fully owns her sexuality. They share an abundance of steamy scenes (including one with her hookup friend). The character development is pretty basic, with Cole coming across as a quiet, somewhat grumpy guy with a good heart and Rachel as a vivacious, flirty and fun woman. The sex leads to more intense feelings, much to Rachel's dismay, since she doesn't want to fall for someone in this town she plans to leave. It's an interesting turnabout, as Cole is the one who wants more than Rachel is initially prepared to give. The conflict is predictable but dealt with well, and they reach the compromise needed to ensure a happy ending. It's a light, very sexy read. I look forward to reading more from this author.

WOW! what a great hot story. I really liked the plot and the romance.

This book was o.k., not great, but not overly bad. This is categorized as a romance book, but I really did not feel as one. You have two people, who as we know are recently neighbors, and are instantly attracted to each other, but as you will read, they have nothing, nothing in common, besides sex. Cole is a loner and he hates talking to people, due to his childhood. Rachel is promiscuous and offers her self to Cole, the same day they met, yet is offended if the town sees her as easy. Well, I would see it that way too, you just met this guy, and he shoots her down, because she is his neighbor and too close to comfort, but she shows up next day, offers herself again. Anyway, they get together of course, and get their HEA.

in this short and sexy novel, grumpy-old-man-before-his-time, cole sampson moves in next to just-wants-to-have-fun-with-no-strings, rachel malone. cole isn't good with people, so he's taken aback by rachel's matter-of-fact come-ons. she is very clear she wants to have sex with him. he's just not sure why. he doesn't like other people generally. it's why he's moved to this town in the middle of nowhere canada. and given that there are only about 30 other people in this town it seems wrong to sleep with his neighbor who he will be unable to avoid should things end badly.

but rachel is persistent. she's slept with most of the available guys in greenville. she wants someone new who won't judge her based on town gossip. she knows cole is attracted to her, she just needs him to take a leap. and when they have a hot encounter in the woods she's a little hurt to realize that maybe there's no getting around her reputation as town slut after all.

but cole isn't good with words and people and rachel is so hot and sexy and she wants him for some reason. and how is he going to keep saying no when all he wants to do is say yes. and when rachel realizes that cole will never judge her or find her wanting for expressing what she truly desires, it's as if he sets her free. things get pretty racy.

both cole and rachel have to deal with some emotional baggage that fuels their commitment issues. but for once it's the guy who realizes first that what they share is worth making compromises for and that it is possible for them to find a way to make things work. this all moves at a fast clip, but nothing is given short shrift. and if you are looking for a short and sexy read, tempting her neighbor should definitely make your tbr list.

I had to stop reading this book. It did not interest me at all.

*Received an advance copy in exchange for a fair review*

This book had a lot of sex in it and I don't usually mind that, but it seemed like that was all this book was about. I couldn't connect with the main characters and I felt like there wasn't any chemistry between them. They had a lot of hot sex, but that was pretty much it. Instead of dealing with her problems Rachel just turned to sex. She didn't like that she had a slutty reputation, but she slept with anyone and everyone. She always has sex on the brain and just seemed immature to me. The sex scenes were hot, but the story line was weak and the characters annoyed me.

Sometimes Cole's pride can't take what Rachel says, "he scowled. “I don’t think anyone has called me adorable since I was a baby.” Rachel sometimes likes to call the shots, “enough with the pretty words,” she said , emotion overcoming her. “Time to have sex. Maybe in the shower, because I need to get cleaned up after that run.” I liked this book, I loved how awkward Cole could be at times.

I didn't care for this book. It felt too rushed and too undeveloped,

I have some mixed feelings about this book I was able to review. Short and sweet, the author gets right down to business and brings us a story light on chatter that focuses on the life of the characters.

I am a bit wishy-washy on how I feel about Rachel. She is pretty aggressive towards a cranky homebody guy that doesn't really want to know anyone. But then the author starts warming these two up, and we get some big city heat from this small town couple. The sex-only relationship suddenly becomes more with a bit of light bdsm and hot talk.

Towards the end, I liked Rachel's character more and more and the balance between the two worked better for me. A few hot scenes and some great hot talk brings this novella style story up a few notches.

When grumpy but hot Cole Sampson moves next door to Rachel Malone, she can't help but want to dig beneath the surface and indulge in a hot affair with her standoffish neighbor. Cole might be tempted by his sexy girl next door but he's gotten used to being alone and keeping everyone at arms length. Rachel isn't about to let anything stand in her way of getting what she wants and she DEFINITELY wants Cole. Readers will be anxious to see who comes out the victor in the battle of wills. Definitely recommend.
