I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review. Enjoyed the book but at times it was hard to keep straight who was doing what with whom. This book had more little side stories in it than most I have read lately. It was an interesting book and did eventually have the HEA ending. Most historicals have an epilogue that shows how they have settled into their news lives together but this book seemed to just end and left me wanting a little more. Overall it is a good read.

When I started reading this book I was a bit irritated because everything sounded very familiar. Well, it was. The book was first published in 2014 - and I really enjoyed reading it. And once I knew why it sounded so familiar I enjoyed reading it again.

It is a charming (and sometimes a bit frustrating, although in a positive sense) story with interesting characters, well written and very entertaining. I giggled and laughed, I rolled my eyes and sometimes I even got a bit worried. Of course I never gave up hope that true love and so on but...well, it is always good to know that true love really wins, isn't it?

Eve Crenshaw is an amazing character and Lord Rushton, let's just say, he grew on me and I must admit that I could understand that he was a bit upset at the beginning after everything Grace had done.
Of course, on the whole there was a lot of kidnapping going on...and on...and on...but in the end everybody ended up exactly where he was supposed to be so all is well that ends well, right?
I loved how Eve slowly learned to trust her rake and I loved that, well, let's just say that Rush didn't make THAT mistake.

As I already said - I really enjoyed reading this book and I can definitely recommend it.

This novel was a good read. The story contains romance, action, and adventure.
Miss Eve Crenshaw was ruined years ago. She now only desires to marry for love.
Lord Erroll Rushton is a rake and has been accused for ruining Eve's sister, Grace. Errol finds the family on their way to see his father and he enters Eve's room. Even pulls a gun to him. Erroll and Eve cause others to hear them and they are caught in a compromising position. Grace is very upset since she wants to marry Erroll. I found Grace to be a selfish and vain individual.
It is decided Eve and Erroll will marry. However, Eve does not want to marry Erroll and Erroll does not want to marry Grace. Eve designs a plan to get Erroll to Gretna so he can marry Grace. However, things do not go according to plan and Eve is kidnapped. Erroll goes after Eve and protects her honor from her kidnapper. Eve's reputation has been completely ruined and she will have to marry. They then travel to his estate and encounter other adventures and some action. Eve and Erroll batter often enough as well.
Eve begins to fall in love with Erroll, but cannot completely get past all the women and that he would leave her in Scotland to continue his pursuits. However, Erroll begins to change and wants a relationship with Eve. Will Eve and Erroll make it to the alter or will Erroll and Eve each marry someone else? Will Erroll be able to give up his rakish ways?

I liked that Erroll could admit his faults, “I am a man,” he said. “We’re all idiots when it comes to women.” Eve can sometimes surprise her man into action, "surprise— and was that delight?— flickered in his eyes. “If you are that anxious , I can oblige.” He tugged his shirttails from the waistband of his britches." Erroll will always take care of what's his, “as long as I am in your bed, you will never want for warmth.” I loved this book, I loved the chemistry that was between Eve and Erroll, even when they were at each other's throats, so much passion.

This is one of the best books I have read from Tarah Scott and that is saying something...she writes really good highland books!!! This is the first book in the"MacLean Highlander " series. I found it to be a stand alone book, so don't worry if you are reading them out of order. This book made me laugh, cry and just fall in love with both characters!! The hero is Lord Erroll Rushton is both a highlander and a Englishmen. He is torn between to worlds. Our heroine is Miss Eve Crenshaw who has been compromised when Lord Erroll broke into her room at night. Eve is refusing to marry him due to the fact she wants a marriage of love. This sets off the story of our hero trying to bring Eve to agree to marry him.
