Excited to be part of Carey Scott’s book launch team for her new book releasing soon!! This is a book for us women, whom desire to grow strong in our faith and to be Uncommon: Pursuing a Life of Passion and Purpose. As I read through this book, Jesus’s Words kept coming to mind, that as Christians we are called to to be lights in this world and Jesus said in Matthew 5:16 “let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” and I also like these powerful words Jesus said in John 17 14 I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. I certainly want to live by those words, but yet it is a struggle at times in this world to be a light and be who we are called to be.

It can be a struggle in this world to be a Christian to a world that seems full of hate and/or selfish, but when you are in the Word and growing a relationship with our Father God, you will see His beauty and the need to share His message. That is what this book shares. Carey tackles issues us women deal with today, using scripture and biblical stories of women from the Bible. At the end of each chapter is scrirpture to focus on and memorize, questions to study with and prayer. May we be strong in our faith to not be common like the world but uncommon because that is what we as Christians are called to be in this world, salt-seasoning. As Carey stated in her book, “72% of Americans believe our morals are in decline.” She states…“The Bible is very clear about how we are to live and how we are not…the Bible is an all-inclusive blueprint for how to do life.” These words stir my soul… “When you become a believer you choose to exchange these ways/worlds way for HIS ways. God doesn’t expect us to do it perfectly, but HE is hoping you do it purposefully. God’s spirit is the one who calls us to live better and gives us the ability to do so.” I so believe that! I want to be uncommon! “HE wants us to be different in how we run our families, ministries, community groups, and companies.” “Truth is as Jesus followers we won’t always make sense to the world. We weren’t designed to fit in here. Instead we were designed to shine Jesus into the world. Our job is to listen to what God wants us to do, even if it’s not what the world thinks we should do.” No wonder I feel like a black-sheep some days and maybe you do too? So if we’re going to be women with uncommon wisdom, we have to ask God for it. Because He is the only source of it.
“As an uncommon woman, you will find yourself:
1. relying on God above all else
2. full of hope in the hard places
3. standing up for what’s right
4. holding on to joy no matter what
5. able to step out of your comfort zone
6. willing to risk your reputation
7. resolved to not give up or give in
8. untangled from your past failures, fears and insecurities
9. capable of looking past your circumstances
10. understanding there is a calling on your life
11. trusting the plan and ways of God.”

“Weebles Wobble, but they don’t fall down, a perfect mantra for uncommon faith,” this author puts it this way and then goes into more and more of the uncommon ways of living out our lives in devotion to the Savior. She speaks of things that hold us back, like fear, offenses, and forgiveness, and she helps us work through those thoughts to free us to right thinking and living uncommon. Extending lavish love is definitely uncommon and what God extends to me and to you. Want to join the challenge?

Uncommon is a blueprint, a bugle and a battle cry, issuing a clarion call to women to be uniquely different, and make a giant leap into an extraordinary life, full of perseverance, passion and purpose. Carey Scott highlights this point with Biblical heroines, who lived uncommon lives in the toughest circumstances, teaching us to live life God’s way, imbued by His strength. God asks us to be His beacons and shine His light into the world, in uncommon, exemplary, radical obedience to the One who is Himself extraordinary.

With vulnerable authenticity and uncommon boldness, this book empowers us to embrace our calling and lead others to God. Be uncommon and leap aboard the bandwagon of faith. Stand out in faith and neither give up nor give in. Let your faith shine to lead others to Christ. Praise draws us closer to God to get the strength to face the trials of life. Uncommon teaches us to live life uncommonly. Carrey Scott addresses real struggles women face daily, like unconditional forgiveness and the courage to face the most difficult trials. Carey encourages us to live uncommon lives, to be kind, generous, loving and forgiving, to have faith in God to achieve the impossible. In each chapter is a personal reflection, stories from the Bible, Scripture, a personal challenge, and a prayer. It is a daily quiet time guide and daily devotional in the study of uncommon womanhood.

This book is true to its name. It is uncommon to surrender when the world calls you to conform. Carey takers us on a unique study of boldness in faith, to discover our own passion and be imbued with a renewed, revived and rejuvenated trust in God's Word. It is not easy to be uncommon and to take the giant leap of faith to follow God's path. We must live out our faith in such a way that it sets us apart, consecrated for God. We must learn how to be uncommon in every aspect of life. God is uncommon, and as we are made in His image, we are uncommon too. We must apply God's word in every area of our lives and trust Him always. "Uncommon" fills us with God's unconditional love, to inspire us to become the most uncommon women ever.

In Carey's book I learned what it means to be uncommon in every aspect of my life. Because God is uncommon, and we are made in his image we are uncommon too. We just have to believe and apply God's word in every area of our life. We have to learn to trust HIM with the small things, as well as, the big things in our life.

Reading uncommon, instilled in me things that I knew, but somehow had failed to put into practice. Each chapter in the book touches on a different area of our life we can excel in, being the uncommon woman we were meant to be; faith, courage, forgiveness, gratitude, kindness, love, etc. Carey speaks in a straightforward way, backing each chapter with biblical verse and uncommon examples. She also reflects her own experiences, which touches your heart in a personal way.

Anyone struggling with their walk with God, or someone who hasn't found HIM yet, can benefit from reading Uncommon. The book will touch your heart from beginning to end. I found myself being grateful to know God and know that he loves us all unconditionally. The book has inspired me to try harder to be the most uncommon woman I can be.

The author of this book transparently shares her Un-Common personal journey. She shares about people in the Bible who lived Un-Common lives. It's easy to be common, it take courage to be Un-common. Carey Scott writes like we've been friends forever. I was motivated by reading this book because of her inspiring writing style. This is a book that I will buy for my sisters and for my friends. It touched my heart and I am a better person because of Carey Scott's wisdom. She is the real deal and I'm glad to have been impacted by Un-Common.

I thoroughly enjoyed Uncommon and feel encouraged to live out my faith in a way that sets me apart from the surrounding culture. Carey Scott has an appealing author voice, with compelling evidence to support her viewpoint and just the right amount of personal anecdotes to round out the book. Nicely done!

Fabulous book!!! Carey does a great job encouraging you to live uncommon. It is not easy to be uncommon. In todays world it is thought that you should just go with the flow and not make waves, accept what is. Carey helps you to take the leap to make the change in your life to follow God's path for you.

Living life uncommonly is the challenge Carey Scott presents in her new book. She is calling women of God to drop their common life and start making their life uncommon. She doesn’t present easy ways to do it, in fact, most of what she is calling women to be like is extremely hard but so worth it. Living a life for Christ was never promised to be easy. Jesus even said we will be persecuted for our beliefs. In this book, Scott is encouraging women to live this life anyways. Even though it will be tough, it will be so worth it.

Scott takes many different aspects of life and breaks them down to show the reader how to live their life uncommonly. She presents with examples from her life, and what she has experienced around us. She introduces women from the Bible who have lived uncommonly in the ways she writing about – wisdom, morality, love, and generosity – are a few examples. She also uses lists, which I love because I am very type A, to show how to make uncommonness common in our own lives. At the end of every chapter, she infuses the word of God in for reminders of why we’re called to live uncommon in that aspect. She challenges you to think about how you can live more uncommon. Lastly, she ends with a prayer to help you confess where you need Him more.

I loved this book and all the topics it hit on. It is one I will continue to come back to when I know I need reminders of how and why to live uncommon in a world where common is the ‘right’ way. I would encourage any woman of God to pick up this book and dive in. It is refreshing for the soul.

I am reviewing a copy of Uncommon through Barbour Publishing Inc, and Netgalley:

Uncommon teaches young women to stand out in faith. It reminds us that being Uncommon means we do life differently. We are reminded too of the importance of not giving up, not giving in and Carey Scott points out too that we can't achieve living an Uncommon Life if we are constantly worrying about what others think about.

We are reminded too that now more than ever we need to let our faith shine, that we need to lead by example.

The author points out too that Praise brings us closer to God, and that praise brings positivity. We are reminded too that we don't thank God for the tragedies in life, but for giving us the strength to get through them.

Carey Scott reminds us of the importance of spending time in the word. We as Christians need to show uncommon kindness. In this book Carey Scott encourages her readers to find freedom in Forgiveness.

I give Uncommon five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

Uncommon: Pursuing a Life of Passion and Purpose is a book that every woman should read. How do we live our lives and show our faith on a daily basis? Are we afraid to show our faith to others? How can we share our passion for God? This book has reminders of ways to be bold in sharing our faith and ways to encourage others. The author refers to stories in the Bible of women who shared their faith by words and actions. Excellent book. I received a copy of this book from the author and Net Galley and this is my personal opinion.

This book is wonderful to get you to reconsider how Christians take part in society, it suggests (it is good in the way it doesn't demand) that Christians should live "uncommon" lives, a word that this author links to blessed interestingly, and begin to consider how they interact with the world - are they looking at God and trusting him? Definitely worth a read regardless of your level of faith!
