Nudes is so much more than a romance novel. It sheds light on body & public shaming and showcases female empowerment. I am a middle-aged, curvy women who, over time has come to accept that value isn't about looks. I thought the author does a great job in dealing with the stereo types placed on women. Aria is starting out in her acting career but is still a women . There's instant attraction when she meets Ben. There wasn't supposed to be a relationship between this pair but after their weekend together you could feel the sparks that this couple had for each other. I thought the book held realistic drama and the perfect amount of it. It showed the good the bad and the ugly when a someone is humiliated and publicly shamed |
Nudes is a story of the downsides of the Hollywood movies scene. Aria Rose is an actress on the cusp of her launch to the big time. Ben Lawson is a movie executive tasked with the challenge of turning around a struggling studio and his hopes are riding on the film that Aria is starring as the leading female role. This was a fairly light hearted look at the inner workings of Hollywood and how double standards still exist in this day and age of equality. It was quite fast paced with an insta lust turning into insta love. There were elements of angst and betrayal that were quickly resolved. The perpetrator was quite easy to guess from an early stage (from my point of view). I would have liked a little more darkness and depth to the plot and a more intense connection and chemistry between the two main characters. Overall though they were likable and I liked that the story did highlight a serious message to all. An enjoyable read. 3.5 stars |
Nudes isn't like anything I have read before. Is it a Hollywood romance? Yes to a point, but there is so much more to it. Nudes tells a story of a woman that has her world rocked by scandal, and it is so incredibly personal. I absolutely loved that Robinson took a chance and wrote this story. This book has everything, heart, passion, and life lessons. I knew from the dedication page that I was going to be hooked. Nudes is definitely one of my favorite reads of 2017. ~ Jessica |
The cover of this book may throw you a bit the saying "Never judge a book by its cover" really applies to this read. It wasn't what i expected from the cover and the blurb. Does this mean i didn't enjoy this read, not at all. I think i was just expecting some quick erotic read but what i got was much more. Delving into the world of celebrities and social media was not what i expected. It was intriguing and thought provoking. Aria Rose is an actress the film she's working on could make her career really take off. She finds herself attracted to her new boss, Ben Lawson. She knows it is a bad idea to get involved with him, but their chemistry is hard to ignore. Ben feels the same way he knows a relationship with Aria is in neither of their best interests, but he also cannot seem to resist. They agree to a weekend together to just be themselves and then after that they will just be work colleagues, but when the heart wants what the heart wants! These two are drawn to each other, but neither could predict just how complicated things would become for them. With their pasts making it hard for them to move forward. Sarah Robinson brings you a love story with a social media twist highlighting relevant issues. |
Where do I begin with this review. This was not what I thought it was going to be because for a while it seemed liked people didn't want this author to write this story. So of course I was intrigued because I like to read taboo or forbidden stories. Let me say it was not anything I thought it would be. There was nothing in this story that was taboo. Writing is a form of art and freedom of expression, so authors should be able to craft from a creative mind. This 4 star story had me reading it in just under a few short hours. I was intrigued that's for sure. I liked the seamless plot and the characters. The prologue was very well executed because it invites the readers, like me to want to read this story. It opens up to the intrigue. Why I didn't give it a 5, it's only because of my personal preferences of the storyline. I don't relate well with a story based about actresses, actors, Hollywood and or whatever pertains to that. I tend to get distracted easily. Hollywood drama bores me to death. But this story was well written and to the point without too much angst and drama. No unnecessary details that tend to drag on were present. Standalone told in the third person with an HEA. I recommend this story. |
Sarah Robinson’s Nudes hooked me at the Prologue, and kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to see how this Hollywood story would play out. It’s a romance with all the feels that you’d expect from a sexy romance, but it also has an empowering message for women and should be on everyone’s to-be-read list. Aria Rose is an actress on the verge of making it big in Hollywood when she finds herself attracted to her new boss, Ben Lawson. She knows it is a bad idea to get involved with him, but their chemistry is hard to ignore. Ben’s of the same mindset - he knows a relationship with Aria is in neither of their best interests, but he also cannot seem to resist. They agree to a weekend affair that will end when the weekend ends, but the heart never adheres to best-laid plans. These two are drawn to each other, but neither could predict just how complicated things would become for them, and their working relationship isn’t the problem. Nude, explicit photos of Aria are leaked to the public and everything is in chaos. Nudes shines on a light on a problem in current society, and I think any woman who has had any kind of photo, text message, letter, information—explicit or not—shared without her consent will find hope in how Aria handles this extremely painful experience. Without spoiling Nudes, I will say that Aria rocks and won my respect. She’s one of my favorite heroines in 2017, and I am adding her to my book-BFF list. I’ve enjoyed Ms. Robinson’s Kavanagh Legends series, but think Nudes shows a more deliberate and thoughtful side to her, and I am looking forward to seeing what she writes next. |

Ben Lawson is taking on a new job as CEO for a movie production company. He is touring the grounds when they come across a movie that is filming it's last scene. The actors capture his attention, and his emotions with the words being said. Aria Rose is wrapping on a movie she hopes will shoot her to stardom. What she doesn't expect is the sexy, older new CEO for the studio capturing her attention. Ben is fresh out of a divorce and isn't looking for a relationship, but he won't turn down a hot, sweaty weekend with Aria. Can they just be co-workers after their weekend? Find out in this awesome read!!! |
NUDES: Is the first book in the (EXPOSED #1) series by Sarah Robinson What makes this review so hard to write up is either way I go about writing it up would be divulging spoilers whichever way I go about it. Sooooo this is going to be as spoiler free as I can possibly make it. Thirty year old Ben is a newly appointed chief executive officer at ‘Shepherd Film Studios’ which is one of the oldest standing companies in Hollywood. Maguire Industries had recently hired him to bring new and innovative changes to the industry to keep up with other firms changing ways which appealed to younger generations. Ben was Shepherd Films last resort. Aria is a twenty-five year old up and coming actress and a fan favourite amongst the younger audiences. Coming out of a rough relationship she doesn’t want to jump into another one with so many things happening in her life. Ben’s just fresh out of a divorce from his actress ex-wife and is sworn off woman entirely for now. And vowed he would never fall in love with an actress again, no matter how beautiful she was. BUT what happens when these two meet and they feel something they have never felt before? Souls that feel a kinship when they meet someone with a similar spirit. Neither want a relationship but they give themselves one long weekend together, after that they both walk away and return back to their separate lives, as strangers..coworkers..producer and actress. But what if something stranger than they are prepared for keeps pulling them back together? The chemistry and romance between the two sizzled off the pages. There's insta-lust, insta-fuck, intsa-love, and I think that’s where it kind of wrecked it for me, it was too fast, they met, they had an insta-lust going on, then they did the deed. I just kind of wanted more of a build up, but other than those small details I really really enjoyed this. |

This book was so much more than 2 soulmates finding each other. The bigger picture is human inequality and the ability to hurt others as you sit behind a computer screen and post awful comments about people. Hollywood definitely has a double standard for men and women and this book brings it to the front for all of us to see. I loved that not only was there a great love story between Ben and Aria, but the issue that the book raises. The story was a good one and I loved the strength that Aria had to overcome what happened to her and to turn it into something positive for herself and the industry. This was a really great read and much different than the stories I've been reading. It's always refreshing to read a story that isn't like another book I just read. Great read. |
Nudes by Sarah Robinson was nothing like I had expected. This book pulled me in right away but also lacked in parts that had me putting the book down for awhile. However, I was not disappointed when I picked the book right back up. The cover, the plot, the writing style - all perfect in every sense of the word (I love stories that revolve around Hollywood!) Nudes was sweet, sexy, and emotional. READ THE BOOK, you won't regret it. |
I knew right off the bat that there was more to this book than I original thought when I reached the Dedication, "To every woman called a slut while her lover was congratulated." This theme was present throughout the book, sometimes more subtly than others. Overall, this book was a quick, light, enjoyable read as part of a genre that I don't generally read. I found the dialog natural and the characters authentic. The majority of the time that I read the book I was thinking it was a side story from the new show "Famous in Love" which made it even more fun and entertaining for me. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed that show, likes a good romance novel or is a modern feminist. |
Ben is the new CEO of a movie production company and Aria is the rising star of the company's newest box office hit ... hopefully. Ben can't get involved with an actress again because the last one broke him and Aria just finished an affair with the movie's director - she can't get involved with anyone connected to her career or her dreams of being a big star will disappear. But the flames that burn between Ben and Aria can't be smothered. They decide on 1 weekend and then they will go their separate ways. Will they be able to keep the flames at bay? Will scandals destroy everything they have worked for? This book has lots of twist and turns and the characters are memorable ... the love they have is undeniable. Take Ben and Aria's journey ... you won't be disappointed! I received an ARC copy courtesy of Season Publishing through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review. |
If this isn't the best thing Sarah Robinson has written so far, then I'm no judge of books. I mean, her books are gooooood, but Nudes takes the cake. I couldn't put it down! Go preorder this right now!!! You won't be disappointed. There's so much emotion in the characters. You wanna love Ben and Aria. You wanna hate Russ and Marion. And I loved the references to actual modern day actors (her cousin...I know who that is!) and movies (I know which one that is!) I laughed. I cried. I was so sad when I was finished. Seriously. Preorder. Now. 10 stars! Well, can't do that. So, I guess 5 stars will have to do. |
10 BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN STARS!!! This story was beautifully written with passion and heart. As you are reading it will hit all your emotion buttons and keep you flipping pages. Ben and Aria have so much chemistry and love for one another, you can feel it on the pages. These two go through drama in their lives, will they be able to overcome Hollywood drama. I love Sarah Robinson's stories they are always 5 star read for me, but this one is extra special and it touched my heart. I highly recommend this book. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book. |
I have to say I'm really struggling to write a review that is either full of spoilers or a copy of the synopsis, what I will say is I did love this book. This book is about Hollywood gossip, it's about love and it's about not giving up when it seems nothing else could possibly go wrong. The chemistry between Aria and Ben is sizzling and I loved Aria the strong heroine who wouldn't lay down and take what the gossipmongers threw at her. This book will touch many hearts because it shows that no matter what people say or think about you it's what you think that's important, don't let anyone's words or thoughts drag you down to their level, believe in yourself not what others say (it's only words). The dedication was beautifully written in fact I would go as far as saying it's probably the best I have ever read. Great Read Sarah Robinson. |
I received a copy of this book courtesy of NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The story line is creative although predictable at times. I didn’t get as wrapped up in the romance as I usually do. I didn’t feel the author developed the relationship enough to make it believable. It was based too much on what happen between the sheets and not enough on what happens before and after that. So if you like the harlequin romance, and explicit sex this book may appeal to you. If you don’t you may still enjoy this book for some of the Hollywood romance, the endearing mother/daughter relationship and friendships. The redeeming quality in the book was the message it gives in the end. It deals with several current issues that I can’t reveal due to spoilers. |
Talk about hot and heavy attraction. Sarah Robinson gives us some smoking HOT scenes with characters Ben and Aria , a studio exec and an actress that probably shouldn't be mingling together. It's all insta-lust, scattered clothing, and hushed meetings that keep these two coming back to one another. Nudes reads like a Hollywood script, with a romp in the sack becoming much more when feelings become involved. There is, of course, a conflict, in this case a scorned lover doing something sneaky, and illegal, to make the other look bad. This romance tackles a few problems the world currently faces when it comes to social media, oversharing, and what dating really means. Sarah Robinson weaves a tale with a relevant message, but keeps readers engaged with great character interactions. The blurb of Nudes is what drew me in and the promise of excitement and a lesson kept me interested, but the pacing of the novel and the engagement of the characters is less than I would expect from a NY Times best seller. I loved Aria and Ben, I loved where Sarah Robinson was going with the photos and the strong woman angle, but chemistry and a fleshed out story line were lacking. I wanted the characters to have time together to develop their attraction, I wanted the Ben to have an opportunity to plead his case without being flung to the side, I wanted a stronger resolution, and I desperately wanted a longer epilogue. Readers who like their books like they like their television, fast paced and filled with drama (if they even watch it with all the reading they do), will love NUDES by Sarah Robinson. It's entertaining, it's a fast read, and it isn't overfilled with the cliches of many present dated books. |

This is a very well written and very emotional look at the entertainment world and I enjoyed it very much. And this is also a very beautiful love story with a very satisfying conclusion and I adored the two main characters who had me cheering for them the whole time. I highly recommend this one to anyone who enjoys a very steamy, lovely romance with a message that can't be ignored. I enjoyed every page. |
Storyline: 5 Angst: 3 Tissue: 0 Value: 5 Panty Scorching: 5 Over All Rating: 4.5 Stars Kindle eArc provided by Netgalley Reviewed by Robin Ben Lawson is trying to revamp his career after a messy divorce. He’s put in charge of a failing production studio. Aria Rose is just getting her first big break to shine. Her performance is amazing, but she’s made some missteps by getting involved briefly with her director. Ben and Aria feel attraction when they first meet but both know that both careers will be jeopardized if they are romantically involved in public. As their secret comes out, will either of them be able to survive the consequences? “Everything was such a mess now. The one man she wanted could tank her career. So, she was choosing her career over him, and she hated how sad that made her feel. She hated that she couldn’t have both in a world where women were judged harshly by who they dated.” There's so much I loved about this story. Aria is just starting out. She has her entire career ahead of her and what happens could happen to anyone. Photos taken without her permission are leaked to the public. The social judgment is crazy with the comments about the pictures online. Although there is a huge misunderstanding between Ben and Aria which communication could have really solved, I liked Ben’s commitment to bring public awareness to the issue. The sweetest part of their story though was the talking about soul mates. Do I believe in soul mates? Absolutely! There are people you just click with and when they smile, your heart smiles. This was my first book by this author and I found it to be very enjoyable. I liked the issue brought to the forefront and it’s even a problem I’ve seen in the local schools. A very interesting storyline. |
This was an interesting read for me. Don't be put off by the rating, as that is solely my opinion, bearing in mind that I don't usually choose to read books like this. For me, the cover and synopsis were enough to draw me in, but (and, cleverly, as it is designed to challenge our perceptions) the novel itself was completely different to what I expected it to be. Which is great - it pushed me out of my usual comfort zone of reading. Similarly, the political/social aspect behind the story, about women's equality in Hollywood, is a good message and was conveyed very well. Robinson's writing is also commendable for being almost flawless. However, to me, this felt somewhat clinical, a little devoid of emotion and I found it particularly difficult to relate to the characters. Although Aria seemed more developed, Ben felt like a bit of a shell, and Russell and Ben's ex-wife really came across as caricatures, rather than complex individuals. The plot felt a little forced, and I'm really not sure how realistic I felt the events to be. It felt very much like the political message became the primary reason for this novel, at the expense of the characterisation, realism and plot. And, above all, sickly sweet insta-love is really, really not my choice of romance. Overall, despite a strong social message and excellent writing, Nudes is too black-and-white for my taste, absent of the nuances that make life life. |
