What a great book! Sarah did an amazing job and I cannot wait to read more from her! |
The cover and blurb peeked my interest towards Sarah Robinson's Nudes and I found the Hollywood romance within it's pages satisfying. This story is fast-paced. There's insta-lust that attracts a mutually beneficial relationship for Hollywood actress Aria Rose and studio executive Ben Lawson. Both coming off from previous relationships where they were exploited the two decide on a couple of days of passion with nothing further. As the story evolves so do their feelings. The chemistry and romance between the two was great. Aria and Ben had fun together both between the sheets and not. I enjoyed their friendship as much as their love. There were a few times throughout the story where I thought the plot had holes or fell a bit flat. The potential for the scandal and conflict seemed greater than it actually had been executed. However, this book conveys an important message to women, to humans actually whether they be female or male and I commend Sarah Robinson for that. I wish that message were threaded throughout the text more rather than as means of conflict and resolution but the importance of that message remains very strong. If you like Hollywood-esque, fast paced, and insta type romance books Nudes will check off all kinds of boxes for you. Robinson's writing easily allows you to feel for her characters and the chemistry they exude. It's enjoyable and easily read in just a couple of days. |

Aria is on her way up in the Hollywood scene, she hopes. Her first big movie has just wrapped and her mistake with the director is past her. She is ready for the next big thing. Ben is ready for a fresh start. As the new head of the big movie studio -Shepard Films, he hopes to make a stand. He has 1 year to turn it around. Newly divorced, he has all the time to make it great again. As the story goes, the stage is set and our 2 leads meet but knowing it is only for the weekend.... This story goes from secret affairs to revealing it all. The story also covers some pretty tough topics and does a good job showing us the strong side of women in the negative limelight. |
Nudes by Sarah Robinson is not the first book I read by this author and I definitely like her writing style (Logically – otherwise I would not read more than two books) Yeah – Logically – that is the headline for me here. And the reason for me only giving 3 stars. I can work with tons of clichés and fiction in a plotline. I can read about vampires and pretend that it might be a possible situation for them to fall in love with a human. NO problem. As long as there is some sort of logic. The reason for my rant when it comes to this book is there are a ton of clichés touched and used which is perfectly fine as they were executed very well and the story was floating beautiful. But than came the important point.. the point when the story takes the famous 180…and in that tremendous important moment the story failed for me. As there was an obvious situation that can not be misinterpreted or at least should have been questioned. But not only did that not happen – no – later it was discussed in a “ Oh you did not do that ? “ way that made me want to bang my head against a wall. Yeah I am that kind of person that feels strong for book characters no matter in a good or in a bad way. Well non of this changes that the author is writing in a really great way and that I definitely like her writing. I suppose I am just the odd one out here when it comes to this storyline. Its simply that this specific plot it did not work out for me that well. But that will not stop me from picking up her next book if the plot appeals to me. |

Bravo to Sarah Robinson. Nudes was a fantastic book.I loved it so much i read it twice. There was so much female empowerment and strength along with passion, sexiness and emotion. Aria Rose was in her 20's and a up and coming Hollywood actress. She just finished filming what could be the biggest movie of her career. Scarlet Letters Aria could have opted for the easy way and used her connection in the business to achieve her goals faster but she knew she was capable of doing it herself. It took her longer but it was through her own hard work and no one else's. I loved that she was confident., sexy, seductive, smart, passionate and fought for what she believed in. Ben Lawson was the CEO of Shepherd Film Studio at 30 years old. He was in charge of trying to restore the studio to its former glory. He divorced from his wife. when she committed the ultimate treason to achieve her fame and she sold his secrets to the highest bidder. Ben and Aria meet in the studio while she wrapped up the last scene of her movie. It was instant attraction and fireworks between them. These two burn up the pages with there passion and chemistry. Until a scandal arises due to an evil person. Misunderstandings occur and things fall apart.. I don't want to give any spoilers because i believe everyone should read this book it is that good, I just couldn't get enough. . |
I can honestly say this is one of my favorite books of the year. It's such an empowering book that really resonated with me. Everyone needs to read this book! |

I have just this second finished reading this and am typing with tears in my eyes and a smile on my face. I loved this novel. I was drawn to NUDES by the blurb whilst the cover isn't what it seems. I must admit that my initial reaction of a pleasing but not over-deep storyline was wrong. The plot gathers pace and is much more in-depth than you'd think. Aria and Ben make the perfect 'stars' of the book with a fantastic group of surrounding 'co-stars'. I loved them all although maybe not so much the villain. But even villains have their uses! The dynamics between the different characters are written well and brings it all to life. I feel like I 'know' these people. I would thoroughly recommend this book penned by Sarah Robinson. I look forward to reading more of her creations. |
First of all, I have to mention the dedication, it's the best one I have ever seen. I loved reading about Aria and Ben, their chemistry and attraction bounced off the pages so undeniable even they couldn't keep away from each other. I can see where the author wanted to go with this story and deliver a message about shaming women but it fell flat towards the end. It is a lovely romantic story though. before I jump into my review of this book ... I wanna go on the female empowerment train for a bit ... I being a FEMALE for 38 yrs, no plans on changing that ... I can do pretty much anything a MALE can do, peeing standing up is not that easy ... it doesn't right where I want it to??! I can scratch my crotch but it is so not lady like. But what makes a lady, a lady? what the heck is lady like? any who ... I think it never makes sense to me ... why a man can sleep with tons of ladies, another notch in his belt of bedpost and then if a lady does the very same thing ... you are considered a slut or other hateful evil names??! Why are there so many double standards .. life is already tough for us all ... why add just another hoop we all have jump through? now to my book thoughts ... LOVED IT. I have never read any books from Sarah ... let me tell ya, I am totally hooked now ... girl ... she can write!! This was such a great read, held my interest ... Lots of hot & steamy-ness ... if you have read other book of Sarah, which one do you think I need to read next, please advise. thx!! MUST READ!! ( ; |
Ben is just adorable at times, "I'm sorry." He tried to find a way to explain his complete break with sanity . "And I'm also not sorry at all. I've wanted to do that since the moment I saw you. And it's completely against the rules— if there even are rules. It's entirely unprofessional, and I should know better." It's quite obvious Ben is a little crazy:
"Ben, no. You can't sell your house just because I don't like it."
"The hell I can't," he countered with a chuckle. "If my girlfriend hates it and I hate it, why on earth would I keep it?"
I enjoyed this book, I loved these characters.

I loved this book. I definitely recommend this for all!! |
😳 wow. Amazing. Loved it. This was such a great read. The cover is beautifully done. |
The location of this book is LA and this is where most of the action takes place. We are introduced to our mains, Ben Lawson and Aria Rose. They are both in the movie business; he as the new head of an older movie studio and she is an up and coming actress in her first starring role. The underlying theme throughout the book is the real meat on the bone. It's message is of gender inequality and how it permeates not only the social construct of Hollywood and far beyond. It also address the way that women view each other once sex is introduced. The romance was second for me and thank goodness because there was very little of it. The H/h fall into bed over and over without any real connection. They talk little, discover even less about each other, and get or stay naked. I never knew enough about either one of them to know if I even liked either one of them. I felt like this book needed to be fleshed out with more character development giving them more layers and so that when they both find that inner strength that we all possess we cheer them on as they get stronger and find their way back to each other. Overall, what would have been a solid three star book gets a boost into four star territory because it championed women's rights in the workplace and in society and showcased grace under fire. |

I haven't read anything by this author before but the synopsis intrigued me as I like stories set in Hollywood. The story does have a message. I'm not a fan of stories with a message as they take away from the romance and this is billed as 'a Hollywood romance'. I did like the romance. I liked Ben and Aria although Ben is not alpha male like I usually read but I believed in their love although it is very insta love which I'm also not a fan of. I would have liked to read more of Ben and Aria's romance. They meet, spend a weekend together then see each other occasionally over a few months. Then something happens and Ben hurts Aria but I found this part of the storyline a bit poor as Ben didn't exactly fight much to make sure Aria knew the truth, they had a quick exchange and then he decided that must be the end. It seemed a bit ridiculous to me that he didn't try harder to reason with Aria but then there was a message that needed putting across by the author, so I suppose she concentrated more on that. I enjoyed the romance aspect but felt it lost it's way three quarters of the way through and I wanted Ben to be more manly! I would also have preferred a longer epilogue. I thought we would get to read of Aria's Oscar acceptance speech?! |
ARC received for review 5++ stars Loved it. Ms. Robinson just keeps getting better and better. Great chemistry between Aria and Ben. They smoked up the sheets, walls, desks, couches, whatever surface happened to be near by. They were just made for each other..soul mates. Her parents, sisters and friends were amazing. There's a bunch of crazy ex drama to keep it very interesting. Plus there's a great message...WE CAN DO BETTER! |
Nudes by Sarah Robinson.. can I just start with, that cover! Daymm! What an impact! Most books I read have a pretty guy on the front - which is totally fine & actually makes me sound quite shallow.. regardless, never has a cover related to a story so well for me! Now to the story.. & I literally have no freaking words! I devoured this in a day! My boyfriend was like 'babe, let's go to sleep.' I was like 'shut the hell up, loser. You have no idea what I'm going through right now!' Anyway, I'm giving nothing away with this review. I think the blurb & cover should be enough for everyone to pick this up!! Seriously, you will regret it & hate yourself if you don't read this epic story!! 5/5*!! |
NUDES, A Hollywood Romance, Sarah Robinson Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews Genre: Romance, Women's fiction Hollywood....that's always an eye-catcher for me, and for a change it was the female lead who's the star. Well, star in the making.... Aria is lovely, talented and hardworking, her career means all to her, and she's on the cusp of a breakthrough with her latest film. She does seem to have the tendency to fall in love at the drop of a hat though and that brings her first big problem. She's sleeping (silly phrase really - sleeping is the least that happens!) with the director of her current film. And then she finds him with an intern, getting a blow job and gave him the elbow. Since then he's had the knives out for her. She's vowed to put her career first, that affair could have ended it before it really took off, so no more dangerous distractions. Then along comes Ben, new CEO and the attraction between the two is visceral, full of sexual tension, simmering, sizzling touches and glances. Shocks them both, its the last thing either want. Ben's a lovely man, burned by his ex, a star a bit older than him who really blasted him when she left. He's not going there again even though he can feel a real pull to Aria. The feelings get the better of them though and they have a no strings weekend....and in the weeks after somehow they get pulled back together. Everything seems to be going well, they've been very discreet, very careful but the director she was sleeping with is still out for revenge. He does the endings, not the lady and he wants to get back at her. He's not happy with Ben, has picked up what's going on, and in his nasty manipulative way sets in motions something that has the potential to end the careers and relationship of Ben and Aria. Its nasty, and as Aria says why is it that the men are playboys and the ladies are sluts. That's always the case isn't it, so unfair and so hard to get past. A woman is sleeping her way to the top instead of using her talent, a man in the same position? Its all "good for you mate, you go get her!!" That double standard is seen in many careers not just Hollywood, but of course fame brings a wider interest, the internet ensures that info once out can never be properly controlled and the world will have an opinion, and be very loud and vicious in voicing it. Poor Aria is devastated, and thinks Ben is at fault. Of course if she'd just asked...but that would have made the book end sooner ;-) and spoil things. The way Ben took back control, made reparations, and actually used the situation to show the anomaly of the way the sexes are treated differently was great. That was the clever theme in this story, a very good and pertinent one that's far too true unfortunately. I just didn't feel that the rest of the story quite lived up to the initial promise. I enjoyed this story but didn't love it. I needed a bit more than the insta-lust to imagine Aria and Ben were really in love, and felt that so much of the day to day stuff was glossed over, when with a bit more detail it would have made the story more alive, believable for me.A good read, but not a great one, not one for rereading. Stars: Three, its a good read, just not quite as good as I'd thought it would be. ARC supplied for review purposes by Netgalley and Publishers |
