One kiss. One night. Will Haley find someone to love her completely.

When her husband cheated on her and refused to divorce her the only explanation was that it must've been her.

Former Army Ranger Cord Brannigan was with her husband and now intends to carry out his wishes. What will happen when his feelings don't get the same memo and he can't stop thinking about her, all of her.

Secrets, assumptions, and an attraction that has simmered for years finally has a chance to burn hot. Will they give in to their feelings?

A spicy, slow burn, friends to lovers story that makes this a quick and easy read.

Part of a series with interconnected characters that can be read as a standalone.

I loved every moment of this book. Although this may only be the 2nd book of Donna's that I've devoured, she is quickly becoming a new favorite author. Her writing is a mix of hilarious and sexy-as-hell moments in one sinful bundle. Haley and Cord were wonderful together. I wanted to hug the insecurity out of Haley. Even though the poor girl has been through so much, she's still standing proud with a dream that she'll work her ass off to achieve. Cord is, well... He's Cord. Sexy as hell with a soft spot for Haley, the woman he's loved from afar. The chemistry and sexual tension is undeniable between these two. How they managed to keep their hands off each other for even a day is beyond me. I'm surprised their clothes didn't evaporate the second they are in the same room. I could go on about how much I adored this book, but honestly, I just want you to read it and enjoy this series as much as I am. Then we can admire the abs together...

The Right Ranger (The Men of at Ease Ranch) by Donna Michaels
This is Haley Wagner and Cord Brannigan's story.

I love this series! Cord promised his friend before he died that he would protect his friend's wife, Haley. The problem is Cord is attracted to Haley but she is off limits since she is his friend's widow. Haley is attracted to Cord too. Cord and Haley both have secrets that they haven't told each other. He is helping her get her business ready to open. Will they be able to ignore the hot chemistry between them? Hat will happen when their secrets come out?

Donna Michaels does it again. Another hot and sexy romance! I loved Haley and Cord's story.

FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I adored reading The Right Ranger so much! The Right Ranger is the third in The Man of Ease Ranch and all these men are admirable and loveable. Each novel are standalones, so you don’t need to read the first two before reading the third but I would/did. Army Ranger Cord promised his fallen teammate that he’s protect his wife at all cost. Cord will do anything for Haley, not only because of his promise but because he has always felt a connection to her. Cord has always been attracted to Haley but he does everything to keep his distance. Not only is she a fellow teammates widow but he is also withholding a secret from her. But when Haley needs his help for the next three week, temptation is hard to resist when the chemistry is as strong as what Cord and Haley share. Once the line is crossed things get complicated because of Cord’s secret but also because Haley is withholding a secret of her own. For me this novel was a 4.5 star read and I would highly recommend it!

The blurb for this book sucked me in. The friends to lovers trope is one of my favorites and when you toss in a former army ranger? Well sign me up. This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. This book had heat and heart to go along with it.

I liked Haley. I thought she was a strong woman who had been dealt a raw deal a few times. She's dusted herself off and is trying to make a living doing something she loves and is passionate about. I enjoyed her determination to succeed-it was one of her great strengths. That being said, she isn't perfect and I liked that, too. She was a relatable heroine.

Cord was straight up sexy. There's something about a man who tries to live his life by a certain code, only to be tempted to break it and realize that his loyalty was in the wrong place. Cord's journey in this book was a big deal. I sympathized with what he'd been through; it broke my heart a bit. But he was a strong character hell bent on doing the right thing-even if it wasn't the best thing for himself.

These two definitely had chemistry. They try so valiantly to fight it but them coming together is just inevitable. And it works. The pacing of their relationship works well for them. Their sexy times? Definitely hot.

Now, there was something that bothered me a bit throughout the book. It's a bit of a spoiler so I'm going to be intentionally vague. I definitely thought that Cord's loyalty was misplaced for a few reasons, and it just didn't seem to match with his character in the rest of the book.

Overall I enjoyed this book. The writing was sharp and quick, the pacing was strong. Again, it's the third in a series but I had no problem following it as a standalone. The secondary characters were fun and intrigued me enough to go back and purchase the other books. I would recommend this book.

The Right Ranger is the third book in the Men of At Ease Ranch series by Donna Michaels. I have not read either of the first two books, but we did get to see glimpses of the two couples from those books, and I really liked them, so I might eventually go back and read their stories. As for Haley and Cord's story. I liked it. It was a super quick read for me. Easy to digest in one short sitting, but I didn't love it if I am honest with myself. It was a good read, but not much more than that.

Cord is Haley's deceased husband's best friend. But the whole book Haley is carrying this burden of her husband's secrets. Honestly, it was really intriguing for me. I knew some of what he did, but the way Haley spoke about it, I felt like there was way more than we were being kept in the dark about. I was super interested to find out what all of the secrets were. But Haley was very noble about the whole thing and she didn't want to taint his friend's view of their friend. I respected that. But I ended up being disappointed by the way the secrets all played out.
Cord knew! after all that he knew what was going on with her husband, which bugged me.
The part of the story that was my favorite, was obviously the romance between Cord and Haley. It was so clear to see that these two had chemistry. I enjoyed watching their romance unfold. It was excellent actually. They sizzled off the page. The rest of the story is what let me down. I'm not really sure what I wanted, but I just wanted more. Overall, this was a quick and fun read. It just didn't blow me away. But the characters and the writing were solid and the romance was well done.

The thing about The Men of At Ease Ranch" series that I loved since day one was the camaraderie between former Rangers who built new life at At Ease Ranch. The closeness and familiarity practically leaped from the page and brought smile to my face. Cord - especially - drew my attention over his close friendship with Brick and his apparent care to his sister on Her Secret Ranger. So of course I grabbed the chance to read his story.

This third installment to the series finally brought together Cord and his late teammate's widow, Haley. The mutual attraction that had been suppressed for years finally exploded when Cord stayed in Haley's ranch to help with some improvements. The characters were quite likable. Haley was an independent woman. As described on blurb, Cord was drool-worthy. But it's his ability to refrain - years not acting on the attraction because of buddy code, sure. But still - that I thought not to underestimate.

That said, once they followed on that sexual pull... man, was the pages on fire with their sexy times. I'm not big on too many steamy scenes, though. So, rather than adding a point, this serve to damp my mood instead. And it's too bad other important factor in their relationship related to Haley's late husband, Drew, being dragged until almost the last chapter of the book. The conclusion that happened only after intervention also didn't sit well with me. Especially as both already owned up to their fault privately; why wait the other to make a move??

There's a quote (and I loved Stone for saying it) that aptly illustrated this situation:
"We were rangers for years, Cord. You don't just turn that off. Of course our minds would automatically think of our team. That's how we survived. That said... damn, man, you were an idiot."

In short, I enjoyed The Right Ranger fine. But - considering how I loved Cord in previous book - not as much as I wish I would.

Advanced copy of this book is kindly provided by the author/publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I usually do not include spoilers in my reviews, but in this case, I want to include some things that happened in the book because they bothered me and I will be able to express myself. I was wondering why does the dead spouse have to be someone who cheats? Lately, it seems to have become a trend. I don't understand why Haley's first husband had to cheat on her. Why couldn't he be a nice guy with whom she fell in love and lived happily until the day he died and then have Cord come and make her see that her world didn't end with the death of her husband. You can fall in love with someone and have another one be the love of your life. The bro code was a silly thing to slow the inevitable from happening. I don't understand why Cord was so keen on not doing anything with his dead buddy's wife when he knew a couple of things regarding Drew. I am not happy with the secrets thing which turned out to not be a secret since they already knew about it. The drama that followed was a tad too much for me and I felt like it was a step back from the character development I was expecting. I am worried because a cow was the highlight of the book. That cow is the only fun part of the book. I would love to see the wedding with her as a part of the ceremony.I am not giving this book a lower rating because despite everything I managed to finish the book quickly and I wasn't bored.

Quite and stubborn, ex army ranger Cord Brannigan, just isn't himself lately, he has been caring around a lot of guilt the past couple of years, after the loss of one of the men on his team. And on top of that, he finds himself having to fight the explosive chemistry he feels towards the one woman he can't have. But that doesn't stop Cord from running to Haley Wagner's ranch, when she calls for help. The equally stubborn, sassy mouth woman, has held Cords interest for years, but as the wife of his fallen teammate, Cord knows he could never act on that attraction. But alone on her ranch, fixing up her land, and helping make her dream come true, those feelings are harder to ignore and hide.

Haley knows she's in for a hard few weeks, sharing her home with the sexy, quite, Cord Brannigan. He man be a ass at times, but he dropped everything to help her, and as the days past, Haley finds herself having a hard time hiding the attraction she feels for Cord. But, Cord being her late husbands friend and former teammate, secrets from the past, lies, and the worry of a broken heart, makes it complicated, to embrace the attraction the two share. Everyone around them knows that they are exactly what each other needs. Now if only they can let go and take that chance.

The men of At-Ease Ranch, and the spunky women who love them, their stories are must reads. The Right Ranger is for sure my favorite in the series. I just had so much love for the sexy alpha, Cord. And the sarcastic and sweet, Haley. They are both stubborn and independent holding onto a secret and filled with guilt, and longing for more, a fresh start. It is a beautiful, sweet, swoon-worthy, summer romance.

Alight I have been living under a rock or something because I have been seriously missing out on this author! Donna Michaels writes her characters with depth and real life issues. My friend Lisa suggested I read this series and I am so glad I did. I had the motivation to start reading because of this review, but once I started I couldn’t stop. I read all three books in three days, couldn’t put them down! If you haven’t read The Men of At Ease Rach series you NEED to, right away.
Now The Right Ranger is book number three in this amazing series and can be read as a stand-alone. However, I would read them all so you can get to know all the fun they have been having. This book is about Cord and Haley; they have known each other a long time and always felt there was something between them. They both resisted the attraction because Haley was married to a friend and fellow Ranger of Cord’s. Both are honorable, trustworthy, people who life to their own code of right and wrong. Now, Haley is a widow now going on 2 years when our story picks up. Cord is still keeping his distance to honor a vow he made to her deceased husband, to protect her. To him that also meant not to touch her. The problem occurs when they are alone together for three weeks. Temptation is a lot harder to resist when it’s so available. Sparks fly, and guilt hits Cord, secrets they are both keeping could destroy not only their friendship but their attraction too. What will they do when the secrets won’t stay shoved in the drawer? Find out when you read The Right Ranger!
I Loved Cord in all three books, I saw he was just as hurt by the past as the other and had a story all his own. I needed to know what that was and see if he could let it go enough to have a HEA. Trust me when I say this was a fantastic book that will stick with you for a long time after you read it! Grab the book and get to your spot to read!

The Right Ranger is a sexy, sweet friend to lovers story. Haley is a widow of an Army Ranger, Drew, whose fellow teammates have all retired and now live in Texas near Haley's ranch. She was having a hard time even before Drew died two years earlier, and now really needs Cord's help with getting her ranch ready to be converted into a horse stabling ranch, rather than the cattle ranch it used to be. She's desperate, her foreman has injured himself, and she's been forced to let go most of the rest of her crew, so she needs Cord's help. He's the last person she wants to ask for help from, but desperate times call for desperate means, so she has to reach out to him.

Of course Cord is glad to help, not only because she's Ranger family, but because he's been in love with and attracted to her since even before Drew died. He has no intention of acting on his feelings, but when Haley presents an offer of no strings fun, he can't possibly resist. But, these two both have secrets troubling them, and neither wants to upset the cart, so to speak, so a relationship beyond some casual fun just may be impossible. There's no way they wouldn't fall for each other, though, what with being in such close contact for the time Cord is there to help, and their chemistry is way too strong to ignore.

Haley and Cord make a great couple. They've obviously had feelings for each other for a long time, so everything is pent up from years of hiding. The sexual tension between the two is palpable, from the very first page. And the fact that they have their friends and families' acceptance, no, enthusiasm, for them to take their friendship further, really helps them go for it. I really like the rest of the cast too, and am planning on reading the rest of the series.

Haley has trouble at her ranch. With her husband gone and just his sexy hot friend there to offer assistance. She swallows her pride and takes the help she needs to make things work. It just leads to doors that she rather stayed closed. Cord made a promise and he was determined to keep that promise no matter what may happen.

Secrets can close a door much faster than it will open one. Haley and Cord both were keeping secrets and all the time they were spending together was nudging those doors to opening sooner than later. There was good chemistry between Cord and Haley. There were other things there also.

Donna Michaels gave me another hot, sexy, ranger cowboy mix romance that had a lot of unopened doors that needed to be opened. This latest addition to the Men of At Ease Ranch makes its presence known.

Haley, a widow, lost her husband during a mission as he was serving his country. Ever since, she's been struggling, emotionally, mentally, physically, and financially. She knows in order to save their ranch she needs to do something she'd rather not...call Cord for help.

Cord, a former Army Ranger, promised his fallen teammate, Drew, that he'd watch over his wife, Haley. This promise, though he will keep it, will be hard for Cord as he's had a crush on Haley for years, and knows a secret regarding her husband. He can handle spending three weeks with her and not acting on his feelings, his attraction, right? But what happens when he discovers it's mutual?

As Cord and Haley work together to save her ranch, the close proximity makes it hard to continue denying how they feel about one another. When they can no longer resist and act upon their connection, the outcome is intense, as both had known it would be.

But what happens afterward? Will they feel guilty for their actions because of how they're connected through Drew? Will Cord share what he knows about her husband, and admit to himself that Drew was not a good husband? Is it the secret Haley has kept in order to not taint Drew in Cord's eyes? Can Haley convince Cord she's already come to terms with Drew and his actions and is ready to move on with him? Will they admit their feelings for one another and take a chance? Or will Drew still come between them, even though he's gone and never deserved Haley? Is there a HEA for them?

One-click now and follow along as two people who've always had feelings for each other finally get to explore what could be. Though it isn't necessary in order to read this one, I do recommend reading the series in order as they're so good, plus, it gives you a nice overview of the foundation of the series and the previous couples and characters that make appearances in future books.

I have been waiting for Cord and Haley's story for a while and even though it wasn't smooth sailing for them it was a great ride.
Cord had always felt an attraction towards Haley, but even though she's been a widow for over two years neither one will act on their attraction out of a sense of Honor and the secrets they both held about her late husband who was a friend and fellow Army Ranger of Cord's.
If you have read any of the other books in the series you will know a little bit about Cord, but there is oh so much more to know, The Right Ranger takes us on the journey into Cord's past and answers some major questions I had about him including why he always had his guard up.
The chemistry between Haley and Cord was phenomenal. I didn't see how Cord thought he would be able to live under the same roof as Haley for three weeks and not act on their attraction, but I would give him a A just for trying ;)

Review by Amber for Love Romance Books

Cord, a retired Army Ranger, left the military two years ago and helped start At Ease Ranch. There he helps other veterans transition to civilian life. He has his friends, family, and a good life.

Haley is the widow of one of his former Ranger friends. For the last two years, Cord has stepped in to help when Haley asks, and has tried really hard to avoid the chemistry sizzling between them. She is off-limits, or so he has been telling himself. When Haley calls him for help, though, this time is different. All of a sudden, he finds himself all alone with her on her ranch for three whole weeks. He is not sure he can stay away.

I read the first book in this series, and enjoyed it, so when I was asked by the author for an honest review, I couldn't say no. I liked the characters and the story. I would give this book 3.5 stars.

The Right Ranger by Donna Michaels was very enjoyable read.

I enjoyed the storyline, it was one of those reads that once you started reading you couldn't put it down. I found myself saying just one more chapter a lot lol
Haley and Cord were likable, endearing characters that warmed my heart watching their relationship unfold.
The drama towards the end was easily dealt with, with honest communication and a little kick in the pants from Cord's friends :D
These two were perfect for each other and totally deserved their happily everafter.

The Men of At Ease Ranch series has been a joy to read, each book can be read as a standalone and I highly recommend them all!

I was looking for a sexy, fun and lighthearted romance and The Right Ranger by Donna Michaels hit the spot.

This sort-of-friends to lovers romance was a great read with the overflowing chemistry between the main characters who desperately wanted to hide said attraction but failed miserably to do so. Everyone saw it. Their friends and family were cheering for them, they even encouraged it. But Haley Wagner and her late husband’s brother in arms Cord Brannigan who promised his friend to always look after her didn’t want to acknowledge it. Until Haley needs help at her ranch and is forced to call the very hot yet decidedly taciturn man which requires they be alone. For three weeks. With each other. And their undeniable attraction. Can they keep to themselves or will they blur the friendship line bound by loyalty?

These two had a huge problem on their hands. Cord and Haley were more than attracted to each other and could probably smell it from a mile away, but were stubbornly resolved not to show it or act on it because of the deceased man that connected them. But Cord had loved Haley for years and was jealous that his friend Drew had such an incredible woman.

Tragedy struck though and even though Haley is now free and Cord has the blessing and go-ahead from everyone, guilt weighs him down. It’s not enough to overshadow her pull though. The tension between them becomes too much to contain and sparks fly when they finally give in and not just on a physical level, even though that’s how it starts. The feelings they have for each naturally grow, but misunderstandings and lack of communication can throw a wrench in any plan.

The Right Ranger is book #3 in the Men of At Ease Ranch series by Donna Michaels. It is a sexy and fun standalone contemporary romance. Told from two points of view with a happy ending.
