Second book in series.
I loved the first book- The Seekers, so I was excited to read this ARC.

The students are learning to cook, but everyone learns more than just culinary skills.
They all come together from different walks of life, yet find common ground- specifically cooking the Amish way.

I loved these characters and became as interested in these new students as I did the last class.
I was happy to revisit the last class members and get updates on them while meeting the new class.

I highly recommend Wanda Brunstetters books - this series is a top fave of mine and I am hoping for more!!

Amish Cooking Class - The Blessing – Wanda Brunstetter

This is the second in the Amish Cooking Class series. We find Heidi Troyer and her husband ready to finally experience parenthood. They had become friends with Kendra, one of her former students, who is now pregnant, living with them and has promised to let them adopt the baby. Circumstances change and now Heidi decides to teach another cooking class to help heal her grieving heart.

She takes on 6 new students who each have needs in their lives that we learn about as the book progresses. Heidi teaches flavorful Amish recipes to them, giving them copies of the recipes, along with scriptures written on the back of the recipes. Her prayers for each student, along with the scriptures, impact each student in a special way.

I loved this book and look forward to more in the series. It was a very easy, quick read and I highly recommend it to all readers.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

Heidi Troyer is back with another cooking class. This second book in the series finds Heidi trying to keep busy to fill a void in her life. Another class full of people with real problems that are very relatable. Highly recommended!

The Blessing by Wanda and Jean Brunstetter is the second book in the series The Amish Cooking Class. In the first book Heidi decides to offer cooking classes to the community. In this book, they are looking forward to adopting Kendra’s baby. So, not to cause any spoilers, I will not further go into the adoption. Heidi does however, offer a second cooking class.
Just like the first book, Heidi's has a variety of students who are each facing their own need for guidance. Heidi welcomes a young teenage girl struggling to keep her family afloat after her alcoholic mother abandons them, Heidi’s very own mailman who is lonely after the death of his wife, a wife of a policeman who gifted her with the classes, a caterer there to learn new recipes for her business, a hunter/bachelor who wants to learn to cook something different for his friends, and a gentleman with a secret agenda.
Heidi again approaches each class with patience and compassion. She tenderly tries to help her students not only learn to cook but give them guidance for the problems that they are facing in their lives. Heidi offers a Bible verse each week along with the recipes from that cooking class.
It was great to see students from the first class come back in this story. I love how the authors not only continues Heidi’s story but also those characters that the reads have invested in and wish to know more about.
The characters are well developed and as a reader I can truly get lost in their lives. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series and see where Heidi and Lyle’s new adventure takes them.
I received an advance reader copy of this book from netgalley in return for my honest opinion of the book.

There is such support for one another for those who live within the Amish community and often time it even extends to the Englisher's who reside within the city limits as well. That is what has always drawn me to Amish fiction is their strong faith and sense of community support. In Wanda Brunstetter's Amish Cooking Class series, The Blessing is the third book in the series that revolves around Heidi Troyer and her husband Lyle who live in Walnut Creek, Ohio. Learning that they may never have children of their own, Heidi decides to teach Amish cooking classes in small groups of 5 to supplement their income and to give her something to do. This is her second class she is preparing to teach and this time with different hopes.

She hopes that Kendra will follow through on her desire to give her baby up to the Troyer's to adopt since as a young mother she certainly can't afford to raise a young child on her own with her parents tossing her out once they learned she was pregnant. So in Heidi believes this might be her last class before she becomes a full-time mother. Again, she has 6 people signed up to join her class, Lisa Brooks is taking the class to inspire additional ideas for her catering business, Todd Collins is taking the class under the premise of wanting to learn how to cook, but has secret motives as a food critic, who wants to see just how good this food could be.

For Bill Mason, he's signed up because as the owner of a cabin he and a few buddies visit during hunting season, his cooking has left something to be desired and he hopes it might teach him to make something else that his friends won't complain about. Nicole Smith is the youngest and she is taking the classes to learn to cook as the oldest child trying to help out her family since her mom left for another man and alcohol, while leaving her to help raise her two younger siblings and still work on finishing up school. At least this gives her a much needed break from her family's expectations. For Allie Garret, her husband provided the cooking lessons as a gift to learn how to make some different dishes for her family. What they don't all realize is that this will be more than simply learning how to cook some delightful Amish meals but that they will also work towards helping one another out when they each have a need and all part of God's plan.

I received Amish Cooking Class: The Blessing by Wanda Brunstetter compliments of Net Galley and Barbour Publishing. Besides getting what I would call 6 different mini novels in one is the delicious mouth-watering recipes that conclude this novel, each of them being the very meals or dishes that the cooking class learns. I only wish I had an lovely Amish woman like Heidi to teach me how. It's almost like a therapy session for them as each person begins to share their burdens to one another and soon find themselves being helped along the way by one another. This is one of my bucket list items to spend a weekend on an Amish farm and learn more about their way of life and cooking by living off of what they grow and can make in most cases. I just don't think I'd be able to keep up. This is a wonderful series and worthy of 5 out of 5 stars.

The Blessing by Wanda E. Brunstetter is the second book in the series The Amish cooking class. In the first book Heidi and Lyle open their home up at the Troyer Amish Farm for cooking classes that Heidi teaches. In this second book Heidi teaches were second cooking class. I read the Brunstetter's first book in The Amish cooking class series and this book did not disappoint.

Just like the first book, Heidi's students in The Blessing are facing a variety of needs. Aa young teenage who is struggling with life after her mother, an alcoholic, abandon her family. A mailman who wants to learn to cook. A wife who's husband is a policeman and gives her this gift to learn to cook. A caterer who wants to learn new recipes for her business and a hunter who wants to learn to cook for his buddies. The story bring in some of the characters from the first book in the series, which is an added bonus to see how the first set of doing are doing.

Heidi seems to be a compassionate and thoughtful young woman, with a good sense of humor who genuinely loves sharing her love of cooking and of God with her students. It is heartwarming to see how Heidi is able to reach her students hearts when they are suffering, particularly teenage Nicole, who is struggling with forgiving her mother for leaving the family.

At the classes Heidi teaches her student to cook good Amish food and always sends them home with a Bible verse on the back of the recipe card. The story shows how each person needs something in there lives and Heidi is able to help them.

The story has feelings of hope, love, friendship, forgiveness and trust in God. Heidi shares a scripture with each of her recipe cards. This touching story left me wanting for more. I hope there will be more additions to her Cooking Class series. The stories are uplifting and enjoyable to read.

This was such a sweet read! You'll fall in love with the characters and feel their heartaches, but celebrate their triumphs! All of the characters are believable - you probably know someone just like each of them - but it is the Amish matriarch who will capture your heart, with her outpouring of love for others. Definitely looking forward to the next book in this series!

Book 2 of Wanda E. Brunstetter's The Amish Cooking Class series was a wonderful addition to this series. I really enjoyed book 1 and book 2 did not disappoint.

Heidi and Lyle Troyer's hopes and expectations were not fulfilled, yet Heidi perseveres and receives happiness in her life. She shares her insights, her faith with those who come to her cooking class.

Both of the books in the series, have feelings of hope, love, friendship, forgiveness and trust in God. Heidi shares a scripture with each of her recipe cards. This touching story left me wanting for more. I hope there will be more additions to her Cooking Class series. The stories are uplifting and enjoyable to read.

I received an e-book version of this book from NetGalley for my honest review. All thoughts are my own.

This book is yet another wonderful and beautiful story by Wanda Brunstetter- I started last night and finished this morning, I simply could not put it down! Reading about Heidi and Lyle once more was like re-visiting dear friends- they really seem like a special couple, very caring, fun loving, outgoing and spiritual. I could easily see my husband and I enjoying their company. Their struggles with finding ways to be parents after years of infertility, and of their adoption chance falling through, resonate as we have friends and family who have experienced these challenges. In "The Blessing", I was thrilled to see a path emerge for Heidi and Lyle to have a chance to bring children into their home and family. When Heidi started her new series of cooking classes, it was interesting to see the variety of students she now has and how, as in the previous class, her students started to bond with each other and Heidi, even though all were from very different walks of life. Note: spoiler alert. Also, to see Heidi and Lyle continuing to reach out to and spend time with Kendra and her new baby is a strong lesson on the importance of forgiveness. It was interesting to also find some connections between the two sets of Heidi's students. I cannot recommend "The Blessing" highly enough.
